Moved to Dayton and this was among the first of the restaurants i visited! Amazing food and coffee with fantastic presentation! Staff is amazingly friendly! Would definitely revisit here with friends. 10/10!

I was blown away at how wonderful the food was. This was my first time trying Ethiopian. I will warm that the food delightfully spiced. My girlfriend treated me to my it. Our appetizer was injera that was soaked with butter that was infused with berbere- a nice rich spice blend with a heat that builds but is not too overwhelming if taken slowly. It was delicious. For our main she ordered the Vegan Special (i think). It consisted of a variety of lentils, beats, cabbage, and tofu served separated on a large platter. You use the injera to scoop and eat it!🥰 Finishing off, we had a nice Ethiopian coffee. It had a nice rich flavor. I will admit that I do like a lot of surgar in my coffee. It was a different kind of dining experience for me. If you are adventurous and wanting to try something different or are a vegetarian and want a place with options to then In recommend this place. I plan on going back again sometime myself.😊

Really flavorful meal, with large portions at reasonable prices. Our favorite Ethiopian place back home closed so it had been a while. This place hit the spot, with friendly service. Oh, and try the coffee!

Amazing food and a lovely experience! I'm not used to eating with my hands, so I'm glad my date brought baby wipes (just a tip in case you're like me and have issues with food on your fingers). I was so impressed with my meal and the presentation. An absolute must-go.

A group of us wanted to try African food and found this nice Ethiopian restaurant. For those looking for flavor and heat, I definitely recommend it. It's a nice locally owned restaurant, a little on the small size compared to franchise restaurants. I highly recommend reservations to ensure you get in when you want. The woman taking care of us didn't consider herself a waitress but a runner. I'm not sure if this is a cultural thing, as she does the job of a waitress. She was also the only server, but as I said, it is a small dining room. Truly, the only downside is no ticket at the end of the meal. You go up to pay once you are done. Our bill was on point to our calculations.

Nanyea Restaurant is incredible! My wife and I decided to stop here as part of our plan to eat food from all over the world, and let me tell you, it was well worth it! I personally had never tried Ethiopian food, and it is now one of my favorites. There was tons of flavor in every dish! I will be returning to try more very soon! Upon entering, we were greeted with a smile and seated quickly. The restaurant is very cozy and has cool decorations! The service was outstanding and everyone was working with a smile! I can't wait to return! Nanyea is a must try for anyone wanting to expand their horizons!

Absolutely loved the Nanyea Special Kitfo (got it cooked)! First time trying Ethiopian food and it was great! The Ethiopian coffee was bold and delightful.

Great vegan options. We had a large party of 7, so I was concerned about us all fitting. I tried calling ahead, but nobody picked up. They were very accommodating when we arrived though, despite it being quite busy at the time. They were also very patient with one of the party members in our group who was being difficult while ordering. Someone got the homemade wine and said it was good. My only complaint is that the water only comes in single use bottles. I'm grateful that this restaurant exists to serve yummy Ethiopian food in Dayton.

Everything about this experience was exceptional. The service, food were worth every penny. Highly recommend, wait time even on a Friday was short.

What a wonderful Ethiopian food experience. Our server was delightful and even cooked our food. Today we had the Sambua's and the Nanyea platter. Every food item on the platter was delicious!! Our coffee and tea were excellent as well. Treat yourself and come to Nanyea!

I love this spot! Great food, different, good service, very authentic vibes. I dig the atmosphere but it has lots of room for improvements! Definitely recommended!

Came here randomly a few years ago and had a meal I never forgot. Today I'm back and it is just as good as I remembered. One of the best meals I've ever had.

My favorite new restaurant find. We ordered two appetizers. A vegan dish in my dining partner ordered a meat dish. Everything was wonderful. The tea is a small serving and it would be nice if maybe a kettle amount could be ordered for additional servings. But that's a very small thing compared to finding a place that you're excited exists.

I have now been to this place twice and you absolutely cannot sleep on this place. The food tasted fresh and was seasoned well. And if you have not had Ethiopian food just be prepared to eat with your hands!

Fully enjoyed our experience..and I stress experiance-it's vibe!! ..and the "cold gold" lager beer with the brown man on the bottle and the glass-top notch beer truly from Ethiopia to you!! We even had a hand feeding from the hostess(a sign of respect) and is an essential part of the culture- we went on a true food journey this evening-thank you!!

As always this food is delicious. Sometimes a tad on the salty side but always amazing. It is not only healthy, but what an experience to eat with your hands like intended. I can eat until I'm so very full and still feel good at the end because of how healthy it is. I will make sure I eat here again before I leave.

Went to this place tonight and was actually very excited to try the food! Unfortunately the food and service was less than satisfactory. The waitress was not only rude but was rushing us.they were out of quite a few things. The food was very oily, or too much spices (not in a good way) or just bad tasting. I understand that sometimes food just doesn’t taste good for some, but I went with 3 other people and none of us enjoyed our meals or appetizers.

I ordered 2 vegan dished just for myself, in hopes I would have some over for dinner. Yeah that didn't happen. The food was so delicious, I ate most of it and ordered more lentils to take home for dinner. I am not vegan but I love dishes with multiple food options and these sounded delicious and healthy. I hope they bring back the spinach dishes back because those are my favorite. I will be bringing my family here with me next time.

We took my mother in law here for her birthday dinner and it was a lovely experience. It's a cute little place, nicely decorated. The person who assisted us was very pleasant, friendly, & helpful. The food was very good & large portions. The ceremonial coffee service is a wonderful way to cap off the meal.

So happy we stopped! Amazing Ethiopian place. We're vegetarian so we always order a mixed veggie combo platter and this was among the best we've ever had, anywhere, any time. It's far from where we live but if we're within a hundred miles we'll be back ✈️😁

We ordered our all vegan food to go from here and took it back to Cincinnati and it was STILL WARM! That alone was impressive! The food was absolutely delicious!! We got the vegan platter and it was enough to easily feed the two of us with leftovers. Highly suggest the misir! Can't wait to dine in here next time!

Delightfully different, tasty cuisine.

If you are not worried about the atmosphere or excellent service, this is the place for you. My husband and I shared the Vegan Platter for two. It was delicious and there was so much food that we could not finish the whole thing! They also have carry out, which we may try next time. There will definitely be a next time!

The coffee is the best coffee I've ever had. Very strong and tastes amazing. The atmosphere is also great, you get incense with your coffee and there is always catchy music playing. I absolutely adore the food, this was my first experience with Ethiopian food and now I'm addicted. Get anything on the menu and you will be happy.

The food and service were excellent. Only thing was I thought it would be spicier (hotter). Will stick to Indian fare when we want really spicy hot

Great authentic food with a magnificent coffee

Hello, I am addicted to this place the flavors are amazing we mainly order the Nanyea platter.and sambusas. The meat is very tender both the beef, and chicken that come with the platter ! I eat here at least twice a week and I don’t do that.. I love to cook! But I’m happily hooked!

Food is fantastic with a casual dining ambiance. The service is great; it kind of feels like you're visiting relatives, and they're getting you food. The coffee is quite the experience, and the tea is great as well! I had the wet tibs as well as sambusa, which was delightful.

Service was very slow. Seems like the restaurant is family run with minimal staff. We waited 80 min for our food. The food was alright. Would not return

We 10/10 recommend this place if you are looking to explore a new restraunt in the Dayton area! The restraunt has a charming, cozy interior that also really contributes to the overall experience. This was the first time we've tried an Ethiopian cuisine, and this restraunt has definitely opened the door for our desire to try more than Ethiopian food! Everyone in the Dayton area should give this place a shot. For the people interested in Ethiopian food who don't know much about it: we absolutely loved the Nanyea Platter, which was very different for us! The Injera is spongy flatbread-like and we used it to eat the "Tibs," which is a hybrid stir fry and stew with an unbelievable blend of Ethiopian spice. The platter came with multiple tibs to eat with the Injera: beef, chicken, and vegetables. You don't use utensils–the Injera is basically the utensil! This was unlike anything either of us have had in the past, but we absolutely loved it! The Sambusa for the appetizer was awesome too–inside was also spiced up with Ethiopian spices and mixed with lentils, jalapeño, and onion. For the last course, we ordered Ethiopian coffee serviced in a Jebena (a traditional Ethiopian coffee pot made from clay) which came with a cute coffee mug and incense. We can't wait to come back!

The staff were so nice and helpful. The place was decorated so nicely inside. The mango smoothies were refreshing. We ordered 4 sambusas, the Nanyea platter, and extra Injera (the spongy sourdough bread). Everything was delicious! You won't be disappointed! The platter had beef tibs, chicken tibs in dishes, then in the center was the vegetables that were red lentils, beets, carrots/cabbage, collard greens, then chickpeas. Our 8 and 10 year old ate it all up too. It was a great price and we all left with happy full bellies. We drove an hour to eat here, and it was worth it!
