Wonderful little corner for Mexican food. The “sushi” they have as appetizer is really good, but would probably recommend using a fork and knife rather than taking it in one bite as you would with typical sushi!Otherwise would highly recommend any dishes on the menu, I particularly liked the Mexican flag.

Best tacos in Raleigh. Best queso. They never have coconut rice!!!

Unique place, don’t expect authenticity, good food (Picture is after I messed with the burrito and took a bite of the plantain). Got to taste Mexican flag, shrimp tacos, veggie burrito, platanos and coconut flan. All main dishes were tasty but would not recommend the coconut flan. Also the salsa for the appetizer is really good.

Great selection of food, with gluten free options. We hit this place up frequently and have not gotten bored with the menu

Spicy Pepino and Lacko Tacos were amazing! Atmosphere was wonderful as well!

The portions were small but the food tasted great. This was one of the worst serving experiences I’ve ever had. Our server rushed us through the entire meal and when anything was requested, it was either completely forgotten or took far too long. My husband asked for hot sauce for his meal and our server took 10 minutes to get the hot sauce. When our bill came out the server had upcharged us for the hot sauce without letting us know. When my husband asked about it, the server was absolutely no help. When the server dropped the check back off, he dropped it on the table with an attitude. Customer service is a huge part of the restaurant experience, and it’s sad to say the abhorrent service outweighed the food. We will not be back.

Came to store an hour and a half before closing and they wouldn’t let us in. They need to update their hours if they intend on closing before their posted online closing time.

Disappointed in the lack of dedication towards serving customers. Today was the second day I tried to dine here and they were closed early. Hours online AND on the door said they closed at 8:30, unfortunately when I tried to enter at 7:30, the door was locked. A staff member opened the door and said they closed early. When I asked why all he said was he was informed by the manager to close at 7:30. The dining room had other patrons eating. If you don’t get busy after a certain hour then adjust your hours

Thursday night dinner: Colorful decor in the restaurant with good music playing. Comfortable high booths. Food was good, a little spicy on certain items. Attentive service with the refills. Kid meals get the full galore with a dessert (ice cream). During the holidays - you don’t have to pay for parking on the street.

Great margaritas and the armadillo eggs were a fantastic precursor. Our taste buds were activated before the main course arrived. Excellent southwestern fare in downtown Raleigh right off campus. Downside to this place is the seating and the ambiance which is nothing special. On the other hand the selections of tequilas was excellent. Who cares at that point? We had a ton of fun and it was reasonable.

I have been going to Gonza for years now and this location stands out to me. Had a great dinner and our server, Heather, was amazing and super accommodating. During the school year Gonza is usually mobbed; but, between semesters in the summer you can usually get in without a reservation. I definitely recommend making this a spot to stop. Gonza Tacos y Tequila has a fantastic tequila menu with some wonderful cocktails. The cocktail menu is limited, but they are all delicious and all the purees are made in house. Jackson our bartender was fantastic making sure we got a good selection of custom craft cocktails! I did get Margarita de la Casa strawberry plus a blended strawberry and passionfruit. They were both fantastic. Megan is also wonderful and very friendly. Making us feel at home. The first time I went to Gonza Taco I went to the one in North Raleigh and it was amazing! This time around I was really disappointed.
