Lobster rolls are the biggest I think I have seen here. Pricey but you get a roll overflowing with lobster. Lobster pieces were huge and juicy. Not too much mayo either. The lobster bisque was also delicious. Super hearty and a large portion size as well

Best lobster roll I've had in New England so far! Jam packed with lobster, so fresh. I got the mini lobster roll and it had as much lobster in it as a full roll at other places. No nonsense other ingredients that take away from the fresh lobster flavor. I will be dreaming about this lobster roll for years to come. 🤤

Stopped by for a lobster roll and some lobster bisque and clam chowder. Delicious all around. Cornhole set up out front while you wait for your food.

This little place consistently knocks it out of the park with their lobster rolls! Packed full of lobster, and always tender and delicious. I make a point to come here for a lobster roll whenever I can! Do yourself a favor & get a lobster roll here, you won't be sorry.

The nicest family run this business. Their fresh cooked seafood is very fairly priced per pound for the area and can BYOB! Loved the soft shell lobster, so flavorful and sweet!

This place confuses me. We arrived one afternoon to a sign which said they were closed because they sold out by noon, but according to google it doesn’t open until noon. On the online/UberEats menu it says the lobster rolls are $18.99 (which is why I thought the place had so many positive reviews) but when we came in person they were $32.99. We weren’t able to spend that much, so we left and I can’t review the food for you!

The best place we visited and dined in Bar Harbor. The lobsters were outstanding and cooked perfectly. The staff was so nice and the prices were very reasonable plus it was a BYOB. First place would hit when we go back to Maine

We stopped at the Happy Clam on our way back to Bangor from Bar Harbor. My husband got a lobster roll, which was huge and very tasty, and I got the clam chowder, which I thought was just okay.

We had lobsters at Happy Clam and it was the best lobster shack during our trip! Lobsters were tasty and big and you have to try their blueberry pie!

Amazing lobster roll and blueberry pie, with a very fun atmosphere! Perfect for lunch or dinner but make sure you come early because almost all restaurants in the area close at 7 pm, including this one. Loved the food and will definitely be back again!

Value value value. If you want value, this is the place. The amount of lobster you get in a plain lobster roll, is equivalent to 3 lobster rolls from other restaurants. $35.63 per lobster roll after tax. Whole lobster are the same price regardless if it is cooked or live.

We did it!! We stumbled upon a lobster shack! Amazing rolls. Corn chowder was fine. Go with the rolls! I wish it wasn’t so pricey as some other spots, but it may be the best we’ve had yet!

Best blueberry pie ever! My boss and I passed by to take pics and decided to try the pie and we were treated to the best blueberry pie I’ve ever had. Also the staff were so friendly and welcoming that this unexpected stop will be one of our fondest work trip memories ever. And we’ve traveled together for two decades.

Ordered the clam chowder, lobster bisque, lobster rolls & blueberry pie. All very good. Lobster and clam soup had lots of meat. Lobster roll was good, not a lot of butter/mayo mixture- which isn’t a bad thing! Blueberry pie was good not overly sweet, great crust- I’d say average pie.

As my innkeeper in Bar Harbor advised, "When ordering Lobstah, you pay for location and atmosphereh." She added that all lobsters in the area are caught and cooked the same way and thus pretty much all taste the same. So, you'll pay more for the fancy joint on the dock. Turns out, MUCH more. That's the beauty of a place like the Happy Clam Shack. It's a little off the beaten path, but if it's value you're after, it can't be beat. Located an easy 15 minute drive from downtown Bar Harbor, this charming eatery serves up delicious seafood at tasty prices. The staff were very friendly helpful with lobster-ordering rookies. The seating is all outdoor picnic tables adjacent to their parking lot. There's some open green space that's great for kids to run around or (in our case) toss a frisbee while waiting for dinner. Dinner was served surprisingly quickly and it exceeded expectations. The lobster was perfectly prepared, fresh, and delicious. The coleslaw side was also very good. They've also got GREAT pies! Here's the best part: We priced out lobster at various places in and around Bar Harbor. The Happy Clam Shack was literally 75% cheaper than some places in town! It's worth the drive! We've sent friends here and everyone has been very happy. If you're looking for great lobstah and don't want to break the bank, The Happy Clam Shack is the place for you.

It was our first time to Maine. Stopped here based on good reviews. They were right on point. Great food (we had lobster), great, friendly service, great price. Best blueberry pie we’ve Ever eaten.

Don't forget the beer! Amazing food. Nice staff. Fun outdoor seating area. Everything was very relaxed and chill.

We ordered the Shore Dinner along with a slice of blueberry pie and they were all excellent! The owner is really friendly. She showed us her rare blue lobster and shared stories about her shop. Since it had been raining all day, she offered to pack up the food nicely for us to go. She even loaned us the lobster crackers which we could just return the next day or so. All in all, a must-go for lobsters. And the service.

My wife and I stopped by during lunch for a lobster roll and chowder. Being form CT, I am typically a fan of hot lobster rolls, but this roll made me reconsider my preferences. Amazing quality and Patty (the owner) is awesome! HIGHLY recommend stopping here when traveling through Bar Harbor!!

Lobster bisque was amazing! It had big chunks of lobster meat in it. My husband said that the lobster roll had lots of flavor- better than one we ate at a local lobster pound. Must get the blueberry pie a la mode here too! You won’t be disappointed!

Sadly had to make it a 1 star review- my kids said you should make it a 0 review, but can’t. The lobsters were dry- the corn was terrible, not fresh at all, my kids hotdog was pink- and right off the gates, she didn’t want to eat it. My sons Mac and cheese clearly came from a box. This was my husband’s birthday dinner and clearly was extremely disappointed. Don’t go if this is your one time lobster dinner in Maine. The one good thing about his place, it’s dog friendly.

The absolute best place for lobsters at a reasonable price. We went to multiple places from Boston to Bar Harbor this past week and we had our BEST experience here! The soft shell lobsters were fantastic!

Service & atmosphere is great. I came here bc I thought the high rating (4.7 stars) meant it would be good, and it was ... very bland. If I would have been thinking I would have asked for the roll by itself, but the chowders were almost inedible if you don't pour salt & hot sauce in them. & the butter tasted like it might be butter flavor (canola oil). It's probably better to just get a lobster & eat that on your own than getting a lobster roll. It also came w/ chips that I didn't want, so I left them out for other folks who might want them. The blueberry pie was decent! The crust was medium/fine so I sort of picked out the filling which was good & not too sweet

Lots of options for fresh and live sea food, and they have both soft and hard shell Lobsters. The BlueBerry Pie tops everything there, imo.

The staff is so helpful because I’m from out of town and didn’t know what to order! They also helped us find great places for souvenirs around the area. While we waited for our food to be ready, which wasn’t long, we played corn hole and frisbee! It was so much fun. They have amazing outdoor seating, and with the Maine weather, it’s gorgeous! The food was so delicious. My favorite was the baked lobster roll😋 melts right in your mouth.

Came in late and ordered ordered one of the shore dinner specials to go. We grabbed it and took it back to our cottage. It was fantastic. Everything was cooked perfectly and it was a great ending to a day in Maine!

This place is a must on your Bar Harbor visit. Get a nice clam dinner or a traditional lobster meal here! They have the best blueberry pie I have ever had with Maine vanilla ice cream. Very cute and incredibly nice staff :)

Lobster bisque in a bread bowl was mostly bread, and lacking flavor. Corn chowder was very thin.

Came to the clam shack on a Sunday evening due to our regular lobster spot being closed. It is definitely a Instagram friendly type of destination, covered in lobster buoys. Minimal menu, but you got the idea on what is usually on offer in these types of joints. Solid lobster roll with a good amount of meat, no options on size or how it is prepared, it comes with mayo, which is not my preference, but is adored by many, and obviously, I still happily ate it!

Great little place if you are looking for lobster and steamers. They have great share meals for reasonable prices and their soups are fantastic, whether the bisque or the chowders you can't go wrong. They also have homemade pies. Plus the staff is very pleasant and friendly.

What a great lobster dinner we had.

Went here for dinner. Ordered the Captain's meal which included two 2 lb. lobsters, two corn on the cobb and cole slaws, as well as drawn butter. It was good. The owner, Patty, came out and spoke to us and shared information on other local restaurants. I wish that they provided bibs. It was very difficult to ear the lobster without getting it all over. We had blueberry pie. It was good too. Eating outside on picnic tables was nice, but early evening can bring a few bugs. There is no indoor dining here.

Good not great. Pretty pricey for what you get, on par with a fancy lunch we had in bar harbor in terms of price and I was still hungry when we left. Had the mini lobster roll (ok but small) and corn chowder (nothing special). Wife had a lobster roll and kid had a hamburger. Add in two bottles of soda and it was $100. Ronnie Dunn says the cost of livin is high and going up but if you drive off the island prices get cut in half

My dad who visited 7 years ago in 2016 told us to pop by this little shack run by the sweetest staff. They actually remembered him and my mom! We ordered two lobsters and they tasted so juicy, fresh and sweet! Tbh the best lobster we had in Acadia. Filled me and my partner up for the night. For dessert, DO NOT skimp out on the homemade blueberry pie with ice cream–it will be the most amazing blueberry pie you’ve ever had 🤤

We arrived at the end of the season but the quality and service were top notch. If you don’t like lobster/shellfish don’t come. If you do - it was pricey but worth it (quick, delicious, high quality thick meat (they do the work for you) while supporting a small business). Lobster roll comes with coleslaw and Lays chips.

It would be nice if this place was open for business during the week. Monday we went for dinner to find it closed. We went again on Tuesday around 4 to find it closed and a sign saying closed at 3, open tomorrow at 11. Very disappointed after reading such rave reviews. Won't try again tomorrow because I can't make another trip only to find it closed.

We didn't like the food. Maybe we were unlucky and caught them on a bad day. But considering how much we spent, we were definitely disappointed.

Remeber claims are long necks. Its a bit startling to see if you are use to eating long necks. Great food.

Charming local lobster pound. What you would expect and want for Fresh and delicious Maine lobster and all the sides. Many other seafood offerings as well. The lobster is the star and the reason to come here!

Hands down the best blueberry pie I've had in the area. Bought a slice with lunch (strongly recommend a la mode) and took home a whole pie. Spacious outdoor seating, good for distancing. Some unique menu options, albeit a limited menu but pretty good for a place this size. Great stop!

We had a fantastic experience at Happy Clam Shack! They were incredibly hospitable, and when they saw us taking photos in front of their well decorated location, a staff member ran out and handed my mom a live lobster to hold for some photos! We had a great family experience hanging out outside, before and after eating, we enjoyed a variety of seafood and non seafood items from their menu. Excellent people, excellent food. Definitely go here!

I never leave reviews, but the first bite of this lobster had me decided that I was leaving my first review! Great prices, great flavor, lots of options. Was so good, that we finished our meal and went back for another lobster! My husband and I took a roadtrip up the coast of Maine, starting from Kittery all the way up to Bar Harbor. This means we ate lobster all around Ogunquit, Portland, the island of Vinalhaven, and Bar Harbor- and Happy Clam Shack took the win. We were so sad that we didn't find it until our last night, but are equally as grateful to have had this as our send off meal! 10/10 recommend

BEST LOBSTER OF MY LIFE!!!! My husband and I were heading back to our AirBnB and wanted to stop somewhere for dinner. We had another place in mind but after passing and seeing the fire pit going outside I did a quick Google search and after seeing all the raving reviews, made my husband turn around and go back. Good Lord am I glad we did!!!! We got the Lighthouse special with two big juicy lobsters, amazing melted butter, corn on the cob, and coleslaw. The guy working inside said the lobsters are literally taken right out the ocean and brought directly to their place where they keep them live in a tank. My husband and I still can’t stop talking about the incredible food. If you are anywhere around this area do yourself a favor and GO!!!! You will thank yourself later : )

Highly recommend! Lobster rolls are generous and so delicious! Whole lobsters are perfectly cooked! They have drinks for purchase but you can also BYOB - which was great! True clam chowder, delicious blueberry pie. We ate there with a family of 10 - age 2 to 56 and we all enjoyed, there is a yard for the kids to run around in and a big rock for them to color on with chalk.

The restaurant was closed, but it was so photogenic.

Great place..are outside which was chilly in October. They had a nice fire going. They were awesome showing our kids the live lobsters.

9/22/21 - My wife and I had a craving for lobster during a visit to Acadia National Park. After some online research, we decided to give Happy Clam Shack a try. And boy, it did not disappoint. Since we were on vacation, we went all out and ordered the Captains dinner special (two 2 lbs lobsters, 2 lbs of steamer clams, two corn on the cob, two sides of cole slaw, melted butter). It was really good. While pricey, it was worth it for us. When in Rome... err Maine, right? When we arrived at 5pm they were starting to get busy so be prepared to wait. There is no dine in, but there are tables set up outside for those who want to dine on site.
