This place is overrated and the food is not giving Cuban vibes. This place has declined tremendously. Some of the good reviews are by the owner's family. That whole family is disfunctional the husband is going by Jesus his name is Ramsey he cheats on his wife Janet all the time n he's a drug addict. He loves heroin. I feel sorry for his wife but not really because she knows what's going on n continues to stay. Guess she doesn't know her worth!! Hope you guys get it together. Are your kids catching up to speed with the rest of the kids? I know they were delayed for a while. These people have so many problems and it has leaked all over the business and that's why the business is definitely declining. Don't waste time n money here.

Terrible service, they take a long time to respond. Not very friendly. I don't recommend it. The food is not fresh.

The food was very mediocre and overpriced. Flavor was lacking for Cuban food. The waitress was nice but understaffed, so we were not attended to.

The food was great and the service was excellent, my server Alina was amazing!! , she was so kind all the time and was went above and beyond, hopefully next time I go she is there again!

I had higher expectations due to the location of the business. I ordered croquetas, and they came out cold. The waitress did the best she could, being that she was the only person there waiting on tables and answering the phone. The café con leche tasted more like American coffee, and the tres Leche was served warm (supposedly it was freshly made, FYI, the leches are supposed to sit overnight so it could soak the milks). The Spanish Chinese rice was nothing more than regular rice with soy sauce. By the way, we were the only ones there, so there was no reason to rush any of the food out.

Stopped here by accident. Didn’t expect to run into a restaurant that serves food with such great taste and quality. Started with a cortadito, which was 👌. I tried their soup, dope! I tried their empanadas, dope! Don’t forget the homemade hot sauce. I really appreciate the service upon arrival. A very inviting and comfortable setting. Service was great as well. If you’re in town or passing by…it’s def worth a try. I’ll def make my way back here with friends. 🫡🫡

One hour wait for the food. There were just us in the restaurant. The waitress was polite. You should ask how long it would take to wait for your food or you'll end up starving and losing your appetite. The Paella was awfully disgusting! . It is filled with lots of small empty shells and is very salty. Just tastes awful. Watch out if you have high blood pressure.

Im very disappointed in the food here. The food was absolutely disgusting. The Moro rice taste like Uncle Ben rice. (Spanish people don’t do that!) The Chicharron de pollo was OLD, RUBBERY, GREASY and TASTELESS!! The beans were watery and DID NOT have the Spanish sofrito our grandmothers were know for! Tres Leches’ had spoiled milk. Which was so upsetting! I spent over 100 dollars for all this food and had to throw it in the garbage . Which is sooo unfortunate!! Save yourself some time, money and frustration, bc this place is definitely not it! NOT A HIT!

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I have been a patron of this restaurant for the better part of 15 years; I used to love their food. The last couple of time prior to this last order the food had been skimpy and not as flavorful, still I gave them the benefit of a doubt. I ordered the following dishes for delivery: Chicharron de pollo - The chicken was old, rubbery, greasy and tasteless. Cuban Sandwich- The bread was doughy, the little bit of pork that it had was flavorless. Rice and beans - Beans were flavorless. Tres Leche cake - tasted like it had been refrigerated for weeks. Tostones - were the only good thing. So sad to have seen this restaurant decline as much as it has.

AVOID THIS RESTAURANT or you'll be wasting your time and money. This is the 3rd time I eat anything from here, although I've been previously disappointed. I decided to give it one more chance, NEVER AGAIN!!! My last order was chicharron de Pollo and let me tell you that it was the absolute worst I've ever had. Chicken was old, rubbery, extremely greasy and had absolutely no flavor! What a disappointment!!! My friend ordered cuban sandwich and she would have been better off making herself a ham and cheese sandwich at home. Havana do better!!!

Well folks Havana Cafe is not what it used to be. They changed owners and the worst part they changed the cook. The food is not good. The food no flavor. I used to order and eat from Havana all the time but not anymore. overpriced food and no flavor and not authentic. Havana you lost me as a customer.

This was my first time here. I brought my family to eat some Cuban food in October 2023. The service was friendly. The vibe was ok. My sister loved the food, but the rest of us were disappointed. There was not a lot of flavor to the black bean soup, which they don't give rice for; you need to ask for it on the side. The Cuban sandwich was not flavorful and not filling. It does not come with fries either for the price. We ordered it on the side. It was not good either. I ordered an appetizer, the shrimp with tontones. It was ok. I found it to be a salty and warm. I like my food hot. My sister ordered the vaca frita and she loved it. How can I forget, the empanadas with guava and cheese was probably the only thing my mother and I really liked. We tried one dessert, tres leche, and it was not that good. Overall, it was not a great food experience, but the servers were nice and patience.

The flavors reminded me of my grandmother's food. The Cuban sandwich was PERFECT! Cuban coffee is to die for. The guava and cheese empanadas are dreamy! The ropa vieja was tender and juicy, and the black beans with rice was delicious. Let me tell you... those empanadas are world class!! And the people are very friendly. Some of my favorites to try are Cuban Fried Rice, Oxtail, & Garlic Shrimp, YUMMO! Desserts (Natilla, Rice Pudding, Tres Leche) are Fresh and Delicious! and LIVE Music on Saturdays is AMAZING!!!

From the phone call to in person. The team was amazing, we drove from Long Island, NY to celebrate my Auntie 77th birthday celebration on Saturday. Crystal( I hope I spelled it correctly) was FANASTIC. She was so accommodating and pleasant with my family. Overall, the food was great too! This is a gem of a spot. Authentic home cooked food. The I had the Ropa Vieja with black beans, rice and tostones and it was essentially perfect. Then for desert we had vanilla pudding, which came with an ample dusting of cinnamon to give it MUCHO SABOR…but perhaps the star of the evening was the Coconut Flan. It was a generous slice that looked unassuming. But the texture was just next level and what that texture did was provide a sculptural pedestal for the deep coconut and carmel flavors to stand up on. Each bite either big or small was a completely overwhelming body high of texture and flavor. I would feel this in my arms somehow. This is a must visit for anyone staying at Sojo Spa hotel. And I will be back with friends and family for hopefully years to come. Service was wonderful. It’s BYOB. One star off atmosphere because the smoke from cigar bar next store is pretty strong.

Tried out this restaurant for the first time without any recommendations and it was the best choice !!! The food, drinks, service & atmosphere were all great!!!

Use to be one of my favorites but the last couple times I get what I usually get which is the Cuban Chinese fried rice with shrimp and it’s been terrible. Shells on some of the shrimps. Rice half done. I just called and complained and basically got told I well. No credit no nothing and I have been going here for years. Until now!

I ordered 2 oxtails for $50 and they gave me just bones and sauce. There was no meat on the oxtails. Just a couple of meet slices in the sauce. I’ve been eating here for years and called to tell them and even offered to send a picture and they refused to let me send a picture and responded I don’t know what to tell you. They ripped me off as I paid cash and can’t get my money back. Don’t order from here.

By far the best guac and chips I have ever had. My daughter was amazed at how fresh and delicious the food was. I have only been here once but will definitely be going back and I highly recommend it to everyone. Kinda makes me feel bad to say that this place gives cuban moms a run for their money.

Just tried Havana’s Cafe. Delicious Cuban sandwiches sweet bananas and smashed bananas. Generous portions. Fries were crispy. Delivery was late but didn’t effect the warmth of our food. Definitely coming back.

Lovely little restaurant with delish Cuban food. Their beef empanadas were plentiful and good but could have a bit more seasoning (to my personal liking). Their cheese empanadas were simply delicious. We also ordered chicharron de puerco (fried pork morsels) which were plentiful and very good. We ordered “lechon asado” with rice and red beans and a side of ripe plantains. Let me tell you, the lechon was so tender it was perfection! I ordered a steak milanese which was plentiful. We ended up filling up with the lechon but everything was fresh and on point. What a nice surprise of a restaurant. Loved the red walls and decoration. Everybody was courteous and welcoming. Oh they have parking on the back of the building with a back entrance as well. What a good experience. For dessert we had flan and it was moist and prepared to perfection. Definitely a must if you are in the area and looking for Cuban cuisine 👌🏼.

Don’t get arroz con pollo; no flavor at all, appetizers were good and churrasco. When we complaint of flavorless rice the manager only replied next time just get Chinese Cuban Rice. Bad waitress service.

Called to make reservation and they were just opening and didn’t answer but someone called me immediately right back - we had shrimp empanadas, and beef empanadas -both very delicious and flavorful - shrimp in garlic sauce -their food is so flavorful -ropa vieja was delicious - my nephew had steak w onions which he enjoyed - server was friendly and service very good - we will be back ! Oh 3 of us shared homemade flan - it was great!!!

We walked in one afternoon, nobody eating there (should have known better). Ordered our food, and 45 minutes we were still waiting - they did not even have other customers so it should not have taken that long. We left and they did not even noticed we were gone. They were too busy chit chatting. Will never come here again.

Around 9:30am she started craving a Cuban Pan Con Bistec. “Hopefully it isn’t something else ;-)”. Let’s go to one our favorite local Cuban spots. Havana’s Cafe in Edgewater, NJ but they didn’t open till 11am. She kept herself busy running errands till then. We were greeted and seated by Jesus (owner). We chose a nice sunny outdoor table and he even turned on the outdoor fire pit for us. We ordered two beef empanadas and a couple steak sandwiched. Of course I had to confirm there were no potatoes in the empanadas because you know…. Hey Jesus, “are there potatoes in the empanadas because I’m allergic to them?”. This is when something very special happened and still don’t quite know exactly how I feel about it. For the first time ever… I was asked if I was the “potato allergy guy” on IG? OMG!! Yes, it’s me. I really couldn’t believe it. Jesus mentioned how he follows me, likes my food pics and even reads my posts. I thought no one was actually reading them. So, thank you Jesus and everyone that is!!! Like the atmosphere and the food is a must try. Love the cigar lounge and the y have a great and very affordable cigar option. The lady that help me was very knowledgeable and very very helpful. She helped me pick out a very tasty cigar on a great price.

Ordered 4 chicken empanadas.a few beef, papa rellenna, 2 croquettes and Maduros. The chicken inside the empanadas was rotten! Both to the smell and tasted sour. I had to throw the away. The maduros were dry and tasteless. The croquettes were empty. Called back and said the best they can do is give my number to the manager and he “ might” call me back. Stay away from this place at all costs!!

My wife and I just had dinner there, the food was delicious. Just like being in Miami, bistec encobollado , tostones and a Materva!! My wife's loved her food also. After dinner we went next door and I got a nice cigar also .We are not from the area but we will be back!!

I ordered grilled chicken Ceasar salad It is the most horrible salad i ever had in my life. The lettuce was old soft and was already brown, the croutons were soggy and they put the hot grilled chicken on top of it so the lettuce got even worse to consume. If you his don’t know how to present a ceasar salad to your customers, stay away from that. I would not recommend

RIDICULOUSLY DELICIOUS. Stumbled across here on a Sunday and was not expecting much but when I tell you I was in HEAVEN. I ordered an assortment of food including the fried stuffed plantains, empanadas, steak sandwich, cappuccino and tres leches. Everything was ABSOLUTELY out of this world. I've had cuban food in New York and Brooklyn and none match the flavors here. 10/10.

This was my first time having Cuban food and it didn’t disappoint! I got the pork chunks appetizer and oxtail entree with rice and fried plantains. The highlight was definitely the oxtail — the sauce was perfectly seasoned, and really felt like a warm homemade meal! The restaurant itself is a cute little spot with outdoor dining. Very much felt like a mom and pop place. Since there was only one person working the floor, the service was a bit slow but my server was still really attentive and took the time to answer my questions. overall i had a fantastic experience and Would definitely recommend this hidden gem!

It was like I was back in Miami on Calle Ocho. Everything was served fresh, hot, and deliciously 😋 Luz was attentive, always smiling, and made sure I left satisfied and practically rolling out the door cause I was stuffed. I just had an enjoyable dinner at Havana Cafe. The food and service were very good. I highly recommend that anyone who likes Cuban come to this fine establishment.

We placed a phone order for pickup. It was mechanical and I felt rushed even though the order was easy with 2 Cuban sandwiches, a media niche with a side of rice and black beans. Pickup was fast and easy and the place appeared festive. The rice and beans were good but the sandwiches were dry and lacked any type of spice or flavor from the pork which was super dry left me very disappointed. We'll probably go back and check out the food whilst dining in and see if there is improvement. I was hoping for more!

This is the first time my wife and I been to Havanas Cafe. The food was excellent. I ate pernil with rice and beans and my wife had the oxtail with moro and avocado and onion salad. This place took it to the next level in flavor and in service! I highly recommend it!

My brother wanted to take me out for my 40th bday and suggested this spot after visiting the neighboring cigar shop and getting a plate of food. We grew up closeby in WNY surrounded by Cuban food so I was in. Maybe a handful of people seated which is always weird seeing alot of empty tables, but the deliveries were being pumped out and that put me at ease. Jesus (the manager I assume) was very accommodating and interested in any feedback we had. He briefly disappeared to make a delivery run. The food was amazing. Empanadas, papa rellena, and an avocado salad for apps with oxtail and branzino for entrees. Everything was spot on and delicious. Forgot to take a photo of the tres leches for desert but that was amazing as well and made in house I was told. The decor is very blah and no music or anything, but it wasn’t a first date or anything.

Absolutely love this place! You wont find better Cuban food anywhere else. The coffee is amazing also! From the management to the essential staff; everyone is very friendly and helpful in this establishment. Lovely place to be, a must visit for anyone in want of great food and coffee. Great cigar club next door with food and drinks available from the restaurant. Truly an unique experience.

Amazing hidden gem in Edgewater. Food is unbelievable, very authentic and flavors just like fireworks. Amazing staff and service, Willy is just alway ready to serve you at the guest level. Special thanks for new owners Alex and Jesus for such a wonderful neighborhood joint.

But this restaurant does! The server was attentive and the food came out fast. I love the ambiance as well. Can't wait to come back!

This is my place to go when I want to eat Cuban food around River Rd, food is so delicious. I had ordered for take out and I had eaten here as well. The service is so attentive, they always have an smile on their face. The place is cozy and good atmosphere too. I recommend Chcharrones de pollo, Vaca frita and their tamales.

So I wanted to try this place for the first time and order 3 meals to go but had no luck. I walked in and did not see any menu's . I did notice a young woman on the phone and was just gossiping in Spanish. I paced back and fourth and made it clear that I needed help but no will be right with you or anything . I walked closer to the door and decided to just leave since I was not beign acknowledged by neither the male worker or the lady talking gossip. Very disappointing.

Havana's Cafe es muy buena opción para comer si estás en el área de Edgewater y tienes antojo de comida cubana llena de sabor. Todo lo que ordenamos estuvo realmente delicioso, los platillos recién preparados y servidos de manera abundante. Sin duda su cocina se distingue de otros lugares por el sabor. Debo reconocer que el servicio también es excelente, las personas que nos atendieron fueron amables y cálidas, nos hicieron sentir en un ambiente agradable. Además, los precios son accesibles y cuenta con estacionamiento. Por supuesto, lo recomiendo.

Ex-tra-or-di-na-ry seafood empanada! The 2nd best I've had in my life next to a location I visited in Miami. This is definitely not fast food, so don't expect it to be cooked quickly. Around lunchtime they are very busy, and rightfully so, for the quality food provided. If you're going to call ahead, give them time to prepare. I picked up food for the family 3 times and all that ate we're very satisfied. Parking in the rear . Very clean bathroom. Cigar lounge next door

My wife & I ate octopus salad as an appetizer, very good, I ate beef stew with white rice black beans & potato with fried sweet plantains. Delicious, .the beef & potatoes were very tender, the rice & black beans were on the money. My wife ate Ox tails with white rice & beans, we shared the sweet plantains, she ate all of it it was that good, the Ox tails was a good size & tasty. I made a doggy bag to eat the left overs tonight. Dessert was flan, it was Ok, I have tasted better, it's not a negative. Parking is in the back, there is an associated Cuban Cigar store next door. Good Service, home cooked food with flavor Enjoy

So you know the food here is always great! Hands down, never one dish to complain about. Now the service is another story. Every time we go, it's at least a 45 min wait for food. It's shouldn't be this long when the place is half empty. Wish they can sort that out. But the people who work there are very nice and try their best.

Food was delicious and the portions very generous! Stuffed tostones was amazing. And the Red Snapper was hugh! And cooked perfectly. The rice and beans also delicious could have eaten just that by itself. Will definitely return here if I'm in the area.

Excellent service and food. My family and I stumbled upon this restaurant after looking for a quick place to eat and we were amazed. From the appetizers, to entrees, to sides, each dish was packed with the right amount of flavor. Definitely coming here again.
