It was a beautiful day out so we decided to have a picnic in the park. And the perfect way to enjoy that us by going to Hero's Downtown Subs, they make the best subs on fresh rolls. They only use the finest meats from Boars Head and the toppings are always perfect. Don't forget to try your sub Hero's Way !!

The ladies who are running it are always wonderful. The foods quality is always amazing super fresh and delicious, absolutely love this place.

Great sandwich place that’s worth your time. I came in and ordered the corned beef Reuben, which is a new sandwich as of writing this review. Got it with potato salad and a drink for a decent price of around $12. The sandwich was incredibly delicious and they slice the meat fresh. The potato salad was also very good and my drink was chilled and delicious. My only few criticisms are their hours and the atmosphere. If they were open for at least 2 hours longer I would visit more often. Also the lobby would really benefit from some background music. Overall highly recommend.

Their sandwich bread is probably the best in town. Food has been consistent every single time and it is delicious. One of my favorite spots downtown. Staff is excellent!

The staff is kind! I absolutely love how they dice up the veggies on top of the subs.

A small hometown feel. They have a nice sub shop with some firefighter decor to help bring in that hero vibe. I ordered the Halligan (Cuban). It was delicious... They added a nice twist with the smoked relish and horseradish, with lots of meat on it. I definitely recommend you stop in and check them out.

Great little sandwich shop great people what a beautiful sandwich even the small is hard to eat the entire thing you can tell that there's love in this place for the people and the food go check it out!

Killer sandwiches. I had the Humvee (Roast Beef) and my wife had the IV (Turkey) and they were amazing. They had home made mac & cheese on the menu that my two kids gobbled up.

Excellent sandwiches with ample portions of meat and fixins. The one eight seven the hero's way is my recommendation!

Warning do not go here if you aren't very hungry. The meatballs in the meatball sub are huge, bigger than a golf ball! The sauce is excellent. Next time we'll try the Cuban to see how it compares to the real thing. We tried the vegan cookies and liked the rocky road better than the peanut butter.

Me and my son are regulars here since we moved to Florida this summer. We are very picky with our food and their sandwiches are the best of the best especially the Cuban. The staff is also very friendly and welcoming!

Their food is fantastic. Absolutely delicious. But they close so early. 4pm, and some days sooner. Most people don't even get off of work till 5 so most people can't even enjoy their food. I can rarely enjoy the food due to the fact they close so soon. :(

I've never had a worse cuban in my life! The mojo was so overpowering that I couldn't even eat the pork. Mojo was literally all I tasted. It wasn't until I pulled that pork out that I was actually able to eat it without my entire mouth puckering. I will say their cole slaw was delicious though. But, I wish they gave you more. All in all it was a complete waste of money. Whoever is in charge needs to taste their food before sending it out to paying customers.

Love this place! Never a disappointment! Have been a few different times and it's always the same. Fresh, flavorful food. The staff are all very friendly. With good food and good people, the atmosphere is also good.

First visit ate in, clean and nice decor. Sub was very good. 2nd visit, clean, friendly, requested sub as a salad for take out. Both were very generous portions. Very tasty! Go check them out, NO disappointment here.

I just tried Heros last week for the first time and I'm already planning on going back again this week. I tried the Cuban. As a native to the Tampa Bay area I've tried a lot of Cubans and while the Cuban at Heros isn't 100% an authentic Cuban Sandwich, It is really really good. The quality of the deli meats is excellent and the "heros way" for the sandwiches is a must try. It's been said in quite a few of these reviews, but seriously, that smoked relish is delicious. If I could make a suggestion. Give Publix a rest. These are far better subs, and you'll be keeping it local.

This place is a gem hidden in downtown New Port Richey. The 6" sub is a belly buster so think twice before going large. The meats and bread were fresh cut and baked. The service prompt friendly and unexpectedly attentive for a sub shop, but that is the joy of small town life and why I love this town. 25+ years service abroad and away from home to come home and find Heros subs was great. And they do first responder and military discounts!

Clerk overwhelmed. Needed help. Lunchtime. Sandwich would have been very good if bread was better. Soft and doughy.

Really good food and great friendly service. I dug right in to my food and remembered to photo my food! I am on keto and they were able to make any of their subs into a salad (which was delicious) I was even super envious of the sub my husband got( the trauma alert, which he said was phenomenal). Thank you guys, we will be back!

This is the best sub place and my go to spot for subs! It's the best quality around. With a great staff, and just down to earth owners. Love this place! I always recommend it!

First time eating here and it was delicious 😋. I got the Italian cold sub and the quality of meat and bread was exactly what it should be awesome. The man and woman behind the counter were very friendly people I appreciate that in today's world. Definitely will be back and let others know this small business deli is the way to go for a good sub sandwich.

This is my favorite sub-shop by far. Good selection and great staff. The salads are amazing because any sub they have can be a salad so you are not stuck with plain old same old salad 😀 Highly recommend this place.

Came in to get a sub and they told me they close at 3pm. It was only 1:53pm. Lady behind the counter was clearly in a bad mood as she immediately proceeded to yell at a gentleman for not locking the door. The guy came out marching towards me like he was going to throw me out. I walked out of there before he got close and said never again.

I was craving a Hot Italian Sub so we gave this place a try. The staff were friendly and patient with me while I figured out exactly what I wanted. The place is clean and the sandwiches are made in front of you. We ordered the 12in Italian sub and they toasted it for us. It has a mom and pop feel to it in the middle of downtown New Port Richey. Will definitely visit them again. The picture is my half of the sandwich. Plenty big enough to feed us both.

This place is nothing short of amazing , best salad and Cuban I’ve ever eaten in my life ! The prices are extremely reasonable and the service is both kind and feels like back when people gave a darn ! Will definitely recommend and be coming back !

Great subs and nice staff, but have come here on multiple occasions and they’re closed during hours that they claim to be open. Love the food, but unfortunately this has become very frustrating and a recurring problem. Went there today just to be greeted with a rushed “We’re closed” at 2:20pm when online says open until 3pm. It has been several other times over the past 2-3 months as well, we’ve come at multiple different times too (like 3pm when it says open until 5pm).

Amazing subs, may fav is the IV with turkey. This place will not disappoint, I promise you!!!

Stopped in front of this place to spin some Pokémon stops. Saw the sign and took a chance. What a pleasant surprise! Finding a REAL Italian sub is difficult in the south. This was fantastic!! Fresh, tasty, and with relish better than plain pickles. I’ll be back.

Ate there for the first time. Ordered hoagies and they were exactly what we ordered. And they were delicious. We will be back.

Stopped in for lunch. It’s a nice little Mom and Pop shop and the staff was very nice and made sure I had everything I needed. I had the 187 and it was alright. I like sandwiches that have big flavors and was hoping to get that out of their homemade toppings for this sandwich but it was lackluster. Am interested in trying something with their mojo pork next time I am in town.

Small sub shop in Downtown right next to the park! Definitely somewhere I'd take my son for lunch before the park. I ordered the pressed cuban. It was good but the flavor wasn't my favorite. Nothing wrong with it just not what I expected out of a cuban! Even tho I didn't like the sub, I'm still giving it a 5 stars because it's a family business. They are out there working hard and the place has great prices. Next time I'll try something different! The drinks sounded so good.

In fairness to restaurants who, like all of us, can and do have off days I try to visit three times (if I plan to review) before giving what I believe is an objective evaluation. Despite raves and high reviews Heros did not work for us. First Visit - “Humvee”. - Roast beef with provolone. Generous portion of tasty Boar’s Head roast beef with a touch of horseradish, warranting a return visit. Second Visit - “No Name”. I am sorry to say it was awful! The description “Homemade” was the attraction to this mojo pork sub. It was dry, tough, tasteless chopped meat, smothered with insipid chopped slaw, served in a cold bun. I had requested “pressed”. Did not happen. 1 out of 5 rating. Third Visit - “187 Italian”. Very skimpy on key ingredients ( ham, Genoa - taste of which was a well kept secret - provolone, pepperoni). Might have been better with more key ingredients and no Heros Way. Sub not particularly flavorful. And once again, I asked for pressed sub and did not get. The staff seemed confused and disagreed whether Heros Way, which includes tomato and lettuce, is added before or after pressing. Moot point as it developed. Rating is a generous 2.

Disappointed my Italian wasn't heated it was very soggy but had a good amount of meat on it. Husband's Cuban was good. Pasta salad completely dry. They have a good base but need improvements. Prices are ok.

Buy local! Fantastic family owned shop, good food and good prices. The best part of it is the family who owns it. Great people. Dad is still serving the community and is a hero in his own right. Buy local and keep our town growing. You will not be disappointed.

Clean store, good food and large portions for the price. Be aware employees don't wear masks except for the pleasant woman delivering who also observed social distance, was extremely polite and on time. Males inside store also social distanced and polite. Delicious subs. My own fault for not checking second order.

Small little store but BIG flavor and taste. I had 187 toasted hero's way. By far one of best sandwiches I've ever had. They have craft drinks and chips as well. It was a tough choice, all their menu items looked incredible.

Very good. It would be great if there were hot subs (maybe I missed it on the menu). More tables would be nice, but logistically I doubt it can happen because the place is small. The staff is great and they work quickly n harmoniously together. 😀

Perfect spot for lunch after walking the dog at Sims Park. Outdoor tables, fast, friendly, family owned, well priced, and great food. We really like that you could get any of the sandwiches made into a salad instead. Please support this local business, we will definitely be back soon!

I was blessed to have my 1st sandwich here , enjoyable and tasty. I ordered the " The One Eight Seven "Italian". I was at work tired and hungry. My first bite seems like it put a spark in my stomach and mind. Just how I like my sandwiches. Juicy, flavorful and cut in half. Made all the difference in my day.

Our sub was fresh and tasty. Seating outside and inside, we enjoyed eating our lunch outside. Highly recommend.

I have tried a couple of times and both times we got good sandwiches. Not great but both had loads of yummy roast beef and the horseradish isn't too hot. My roll could have been fresher. I'm sticking with the hot pressed sandwiches. Lots of beverage choices. While my wife and I will keep wearing our masks, sadly none of the employees had masks. Maybe we'll just wait another year and see. I do like the idea of support for first responders because I am in law enforcement and a military veteran. If you truly support first responders, you have to include wearing a mask 😷.

This place is nice home like like family great food awesome customer service very clean a great home town feel. They have inside seating and outside seating. First time. Ordered the pressed Cuban. I hate it when people try to put their own spin on a Cuban, it usually doesn't work. You don't mess with a Cuban! My fault for not paying attention to the ingredients before ordering, but it had some funky chopped pickle relish on it that was very sour and overpowered the whole sandwich, and it was LOADED with it. Otherwise I think without the relish thing it would have been a good sandwich. Thin and crispy just like a Cuban should be, and it was huge, must have weighed a pound at least. I'd recommend to the owners to nix the pickle relish and just go with a few hamburger dill slices instead. Don't ruin a good thing.

Neat place in the city of New Port Richey. Reminds me of a new York style deli. We had a Cuban and a Italian sub. Both good but the smokey flavor got me a little. It took me by surprise actually. I went the "Heros way" which is explained on their menu. New York feel about the workers. Cut to the chase.

Subs always great and have to have it dressed up with the heroes way toppings. People very friendly and have indoor and outside seating. Good variety of chips and specialty sodas in the bottles too. Thnx for a great lunch.
