My favorite coffee shop when visiting LSU. Grab a cup when they open at 6am, then walk the paths around University Lake. Yes, it's $6 coffee but if you are going to spend that anyway, buy local. Ample seating inside and out if you get there early enough, before the college kids wake up and ddos the place.

Spacious, with plenty of seating. Limited food offerings. Solid coffee. Right outside the LSU campus, so plenty of people were there studying and chatting.

This is one of the most relaxing and cool low vibe coffee shops on BR. The mocha was tasty and refreshing.

Come on, making a latte doesn't take 15 minutes. You are joking.

I come here all the time as an LSU student and it is absolutely wonderful when studying or getting work done. Although it can be very crowded at times, it is always nice to come and get a quick coffee. If you're a fan of matcha, I really love their matcha latte with a pump of vanilla. They also have a nice granita. The workers are always very attentive and sweet so that's totally a plus.

Need a change of scenery from the chain coffee houses. Highland Coffeeslocated on LSU’s campus was beyond refreshing! Great service; WiFi, and oh by the way, great tea options and great tasting coffee! I was able to get some paperwork done and meditate for a moment! I will be back!

I was visiting my friend at LSU for work filled spring break. He lives next to this this and this place became my daily office desk!! Was fun to work from here! Got so much done…

Great service, good coffee. Unfortunately, been coming here 7 years and the wifi has remained criminally bad and gotten worse. Don't plan to do computer work unless you're bringing your own hotspot.

Whole milk medium chai latte. It was really bad. The chai was way too strong, too watery, and not sweet enough to make up for the first two. I really tried to power through because it was $6.40, but it was nauseating.

Haven't had the chance to buy coffee there but I will when I have a can. I stopped by to buy coffee beans .they have beans roasted within the last couple days and it's fairly priced. Will definitely come back when I need more.

Was a little bit disappointed in this place given the high reviews. All of the pastries were shrink-wrapped and looked a bit unappetizing. Ordered a peppermint latte and got a peppermint tea instead. They have a nice Pavoni machine but the foaming on the vanilla latte wasn't ideal. Bubbles too large. If you pay via credit card they take your card to a back room to charge it. There's also a lack of good parking options. Atmosphere was very nice and I would probably try it again sometime.

Took the iced Viennese coffee but it seemed just like an iced espresso, not like the authentic Viennese coffee at all.

I spent probably 100+ hours studying for a professional certification here. I love the frozen white chocolate coffee, the cheesecake…but most of all the crowd and the vibe at Highland. It’s an awesome place to get away and focus for a couple of hours. 10/10 would recommend.

Three employees here and the line moves at a snail'space. They need a line just for people that order black coffee.

Highland coffee is a classic LSU study space. They have great and relatively inexpensive coffee and a very pretty dog friendly patio! The owner is nice and they hire lots of students!

Ordered medium Americano with two shots. Coffee was tasty, but weak. Also, they use two very thin cups plus sleeve, nevertheless, still too hot to handle. Next time I'll get more shots. Therefore, adjust your shot request accordingly. You don't wanna start your morning coffee on a weak note.

I didn't have any food, but their latte was fantastic. I spent 8 years around Vanderbilt campus in Nashville where they took coffee very seriously. I'd been missing good coffee and Highland definitely scratched that itch. At a good price too. The baristas were very friendly. They frothed whole Kleinpeter milk without me asking which was my preference.

Service is beyond good. If you don't like your drink they will make a new one but similiar. They have free water and are always verg kind and welcoming. Great atmosphere. Pastries are super sweat and moist. Aren'r very good in the afternoom becausw i think they make them in the morning. I think to note is that they are usually crowded.

Nothing ever changes here, which isn't necessarily bad . . . but I feel like under the right management, HC could play a bigger cultural role in its position right off campus. More events, open mics, selling more local art from students, etc. And bring in a jazz combo from the music school down the block . . . anything would be better than the droll music that plays on the speakers here

Clark the business owner puts that he sells croissants on the menu but hasn’t actively sold them in over a year. Either take it off the menu or sell croissants 🥐 Coffee is great though and the workers are amazing!

My husband and I love this place! Everyone is so friendly. It has a very peaceful atmosphere. You can dine in or out. We love to dine out, when weather permits. They also have such an extraordinary variety of beverages!

atmosphere is amazing and the products are relatively inexpensive while still being high quality. A medium coffee and a muffin only ran me about $8 and both were great. the free wifi is fast even with the building at full capacity and to top it all off the staff is extremely friendly. will definitely be coming back.

The oldest and nicest cafe in BTR (hands down). They roast the best and offer calm ambience to escape the wildness of the city. Truly a gem on north campus LSU

My grandfather took me to this coffee shop since I was a kid - he was also a beloved professor at LSU, unfortunately recently passed. This coffee shop is always bustling with studying students, but also people of all walks of life conversing over a cup of coffee. The people that work here are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the coffee roasts that they have here. The Italian Blend is far superior to use as a personal espresso blend, in my opinion, but you truly can’t lose with any of their roasts. This place will always been near and dear to my heart. Highly recommend going to Chimes nearby, as well as just taking a walk through LSU campus with a cup of coffee.

Get the dark roast! Sit outside and enjoy!

I'm a little upset because every time that I go, they are always out of the things to eat or snack on. Y'all need to create a better plan to thaw more product, have more product available, etc. I usually don't go over there, because I like a croissant or bagel with my coffee or tea. Work on having everything available. Create a better Par. Sometimes is better to waste 3 or 4, and sell 30, than just selling 10. Bagels usually go quick. And specially the dips. God knows I love Garden Veggie and Artichoke dip, but every time I go, they don't have any. Also, please check your lids. They are not friendly. They shouldn't come off easily of a hot cup.

this is my favourite place to go to for coffee, studying, and just relaxing. the hours are really convenient for me and the staff is very kind and friendly. the only reason i left it at four stars was because during the middle of the day about every day the wifi starts to cut out and im unable to continue doing my work. other than this coming from a barista, the coffee is great. the staff really seems to know what theyre doing when making drinks and theres many many many options.

Epic coffee spot! Well worth a quick detour off I-10. Elise was super friendly, the cortado was delicious, and the mocha from the margarita machine was unexpectedly satisfying. Only popped in for a bit but the vibe/aesthetic were laid back. Nice blend of people working/studying/reading.

Very friendly staff and cozy interior. Got a vanilla latte that was very good. Great way to start the new year.

The blond attending seems to not really like being there, no problem, just a bit awkward when asking for my black tea. Besides that, the place is amazing.

I visit this location this morning around 11am. It was semi-busy and we didn’t mind. I was excited because I was about to get coffee. This soon changed. The young lady that helped us either had a long night or no sleep because she was leaning on the corner and yawning. She took our order and made our drinks. So we ordered two coffees (ice lattes both with oat milk and one with flavor) which would have came to $4 & change which I rounded to $5 each. That came to $10 for coffee and my daughter got an fruit ice blended drink which was $5 & some change and I rounded it to 6. So my total before tax would have been $16 plus tax. She charged me $22.25. Of course I paid. I ask if she can explain how did she come up with the price she informed me that it was tax. After going back and forth with her clearing it wasn’t making sense to her and she couldn’t figure out how she over charged me. I left feeling cheated. If she just wanted the tip she could have just said that! There were some more other things that happened this morning but I just don’t have time to list them all. Very bad experience!

Hehehe I’m sooooo happy, but sad at the same time. This coffee shop is amazing!! I’ve been having this saved in my want to go list for years! Last time I didn’t stop because of parking but I found parking this time! Jiji I’m sad because I love this place and i live So far from here! With such a relaxing Vibe, I could read books all day. Oh and such friendly friendly service mannnn I want to move here 😞

First, and foremost, outstanding coffee! Roaster on site. Very prompt service. The atmosphere was great. Roomy and calm. Nice little patio area set back from the street. SO happy to find this place.

Fabulous coffee! I got a decaf vanilla iced latte & it was perfect!! Not too sweet, creamy, delicious! The chocolate muffin was also excellent -- very soft. The staff is very friendly & helpful. There are lots of seating choices and wifi. I really enjoyed my time there. 😊

Welcoming staff & great coffee!

They can get specific with the way they make their coffee that feels like something homemade. The paintings on the wall help build that cafe atmosphere. Having other options for baking and coffee makers is also a good add on.

Great, historic little coffee shop that is open till 10pm! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because it is pretty obvious the tea doesn't get rotated. My tea was super stale. Work on that for me and I'll be a five star customer.

Great hangout spot near the campus. The coffee is great and the atmosphere is laid back. The decors are pretty nice too! They have a discounted refill offer for the coffee ordered while dinner in. The options for baked goods are plenty.

So if you're a beginner at coffee it's overwhelming to look at the menu, but their stuff is awesome and the staff is super willing to help! I highly suggest this place if you know your stuff!

The white chocolate mocha i think its what I had WAS AMAZING! I got it iced since its hot outside but I'm definitely coming back for more. First time coming to Highland Coffees and I loved it. Only suggestion I would have so far is that the wooden chairs are a bit uncomfortable for someone who wants to just stay there for hours. The place is cozy but needs better seating options. It gets full so the comfortable couches get taken quickly!

While the coffee is phenomenal, have you tried the cheesecake?? It’s next level that puts this coffee shop a notch above the rest. Be prepared to know your espresso types, you will have options and decisions!

One of my favorite coffee shops in Baton Rouge! A great study space right by campus and the workers are so sweet. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Lots of options

My wife & I stumbled upon this place during Winter Storm '21. We were so glad to see them open. The coffee & ambience was great. Highly recommend this spot. Side note we thought it was pretty funny that in the midst of a winter storm students were still busting their tails studying.

My favorite spot to go since my first year at University--can't beat the atmosphere, amazing coffee, and caring staff.

What do we want? Better WiFi. When do we wan't it? WHENEVER IS REASONABLE. The only Roaster/Cafe combo in greater LA that I know of. Hidden jewel. Will make your clothes stink.

A Baton Rouge staple, it remains a good spot despite itself. The location is unbeatable for any study session (or pre-game walk to Death Valley), and LSU’s finest minds can be seen here engaging in enlightened conversation along side the local counter-culture bohemians. Despite the high potential, the owner plays drab music to match the styrofoam to-go cups and hasn’t updated anything since the 80’s (& not in the best ways). It’s basically a beautiful thing with a bad haircut, and if they’d just adjust the vibe with some much needed style it could truly go from good enough to great. Employees are generally cool once you penetrate an initial social barrier of distance, and if you’re in the area I would always recommend a quick (or long) visit to B.R.’s finest coffee shop.

Excelent coffee. You'll have a selection of coffee beans from all over the world so you can customize your drink to some extent. Customer service is good too and the atmosphere of the place is great to study or chill with friends ot alone.

Love this place. There’s plenty of places to sit, the wifi works well, and the service is great. The coffee is excellent is well caffeinated which I LOVE and need. They have a wide variety of flavors and syrups as well. Love choosing this place over chains, it’s great!

The barista was very nice. I loved the tea and the lemon poppyseed muffin that I had. If you're looking for a nice quiet coffee shop near LSU, this is the place to go!

The vibe is great, and made me feel comfortable, workers are very friendly, only down side is a little noisy but that's because lots of people enjoy it. Lots of area to sit and the WIFI works perfectly fine.

This is my favorite place for a frozen blended chai latte or a cup of espresso. Beautiful ambiance, popular study environment, live music sometimes. I stop here any chance I get. I only wish it were bigger.

Cool atmosphere. A hot spot for students by the look of it. I had one of thread medium roast Coffees and it was fantastic. I'll keep this spot on my list for future trips to Baton Rouge

This is a great, college, hipster coffee shop, with a nice layout and lots of variety in coffee and tea. You can probably get more teas here than other places. This place is lively, but can be a bit noisy and distracting.

They're always good. But they've always been more of an informal meeting place that happens to have okay coffee than a true coffee shop to me.

Great place to get a traditional coffee house experience. Service is excellent. Flavored espresso drinks aren't excessively sweet. Light or dark roast espresso options are available. I have enjoyed every drink I've tried here. Highly recommended.

Not a huge fan of their coffees. But, their desserts are pretty good. Also, the atmosphere is very good to do some work/study.

The atmosphere: clean and spacious with high ceilings and outdoor seating. There aren't many places to sit if it's midterms or finals. Service: it's alright, the staff get your order and fill it quick enough, though often times I've found them to drag on their own personal conversations when there's a line. The coffee and pastries: Coffee is good, not amazing but it's perfectly fine while reading or having a coffee talk with friends. The pastries are overpriced for the below average quality. They taste refrigerated, artificial, and unpleasant.

I absolutely LOVE this place!!! I go for the fresh roasted coffee beans. Students probably go for the WiFi... and caffeine. I live in the area and finding ANYWHERE that roasts their coffee in house ain't easy. Once you've had fresh roasted, you'll be loathe to get grocery store (roasted months ago) beans again. They also have loose tea for sale or drink. Snacks too as any coffee house should. For the true coffee connoisseurs out there, this place is a must! Keep an eye out for bags marked as "natural" as these are air dried instead of the usual water drying method. Gives a whole new flavor to the exact same bean and I'm personally a fan of it, though your mileage may vary. The owner doesn't get these in very often. I might start a petition?...

Highland coffee provided excellent service and delicious coffee. On top of that their pastries are to die for. I definitely recommend this coffee place to everyone in Baton Rouge. If you're a non-sweet aficionado, like myself, you should definitely try the French Vanilla Iced Coffee. You're welcome!
