Food is incredible, service is questionable. Was just turned away at 11:10 because “they don’t open for lunch service until 11:30”. No offer to seat us until the kitchen opened. Just two lazy employees sitting at the bar enjoying their last 20 minutes.

Visiting from out of town went to go to the restaurant and the attitude sucks so bad from the host we left , didn't even get a chance to try the food her attitude completely made us leave , even the other hostess gave her the side eye.

This place is alive with great people and amazing food!! Atmosphere is lively and welcoming!!

Always delicious. I love the blue cheese burger. We tried the chili cheese fries this time. They were amazing. Husband had the fried green tomato, bacon and I think shrimp tacos. He loved them.

This was a nice place. Very creative menu with lots of pork and beef. Much improved from the previous location.

The pulled pork and pulled chicken tasted like you just smoked a pack of cigarettes. I ordered crab soup, asked if it was red or white based and they confirmed red. White crab soup came out so I advised her I didn't want it, then over charged me for my salad and it took 2 times to bring me the correct check.

We were in Richmond for the South Atlantic Championships volleyball tournament. We had a party of 24. The restaurant didn't take reservations but they let us call ahead. When we got there, two big tables were already set up upstairs. The ambiance was nice and quiet. We had the whole upstairs to ourselves. Their patio is beautiful with plants and a little water fountain. The service was wonderful. Our waiter, Cooper, was super attentive and friendly. We really appreciated he allowed each family to have separate checks. The food was amazing. They are famous for their BBQ but their tacos were excellent. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food. We highly recommend the Hogshead Cafe and will definitely come back if we are in the area again.

Went with family after church, 8 of us. Cooper was a great server, very friendly and attentive. The food was phenomenal! Catfish was fried to perfection, ribs and sides were very tasty. My only regret is that I didn’t get the sides sampler to taste all they had to offer. Let me not forget the crab pretzel we had as an appetizer and how our teens loved the hog dog. We all took away to go boxes and definitely needed a nap afterwards 😄

LOVE Hogs Head Cafe!!! Update May 2024 No changes We haven't had any issues at hogs head Cafe. We can't be upset any longer when staff are working with way less staff than before the pandemic... its societies normal now. Yiu can't go to a big store with barely more than 2 cashiers. People haven't stopped going out to eat, shop or get gas so.... we're always pleased here.

Went for lunch today. This wasn’t our first visit. We are repeat customers, as this place is always great. The food was delicious, service good, and solid bar atmosphere. Highly recommend this place. They also have a specials menu that changes regularly, so you always have different options in addition to the regular food.

Went for the 1st time as part of Central Virginia Spades meetup group. The atmosphere was cozy. The service was wonderful. The staff was extremely helpful and very attentive. Its a great place for parties and gatherings. Includes an upstairs and downstairs patio. The food was the star of the show. It was so delicious, well seasoned, good portions. I don’t drive, took 2 hours by bus from downtown Richmond. I would make that trip again with no hesitation just to eat there again. Highly recommend! (Make sure you try the sweet potato fries with the dipping sauce!)

I'm here. When we sat down the table was super sticky. It still had Wing residue all over the top of it that got on my arms. It was pretty gross, we asked him to wipe it down they did. They got rid of some of it but it was still there. I recommend bringing a long sleeve shirt or a hoodie you don't mind if you plan on touching the tables. On top of that it was advertised as half price wings and half price beer all day, The waitress then attempted to tell me that it was not half price beer and I had to point it out to her in order to get the price. Caused by this country and then when I finally got my check she had charged us full price on wings, I also had to send that back to get that corrected and point out that it was half price wings... A guests should not have to correct or tell an employee how to do their job. And after the waitress tried to overcharge me twice, she then added $2 for a 2 oz ramekin of sour cream, and $0.50 for a 2 oz ramekin of blue cheese. Neither of the these were discussed with us beforehand, The waitress had asked if we needed any blue cheese or anything and we said yes and that was the end of the conversation. The place has pretty good food but waitress we had this time around was very standoffish and I was not happy with the overall experience as a result. I will be going back simply because of the food but if I'm sat at this waitresses section I will request to be changed to a different location because this is not the experience I want to pay to have. Most of the waitresses I've been there and had experiences with were great but this one must have been fairly new, and seemed to be focused more on nickel and diming the bill than actually providing good service. After I sent the bill back to be corrected the first time she took 10 minutes to come back and get it. It was fairly obvious she was intentionally making us wait because she disappeared as if she had taken her break while she knew we were trying to leave.

Too loud. Wanted one good greens and veggies salad option-not offered. Went w friends, I know it's not my cuppa!

Food quality and quantity is mind blowing. If you leave hungry you did something wrong. The waiter was very knowledgeable on Gluten Free options. Highly recommend this Gem

Really good BBQ, great sandwiches. Tasty hushpuppies Just had the Cuban Hog and it was delicious. Their sweet potato fries are really some of the best I've eaten, and they come with a sweet maple dipping sauce THAT WENT PERFECTLY WITH THE CUBAN HOG... TRY IT! Four years ago, at their previous location... "Great, clean tasting southern food. Great BBQ, and the oyster po'boy was fantastic!"

Ordered the Sailors Quiche. Excellent fare! Appropriately priced. Will be back to try more items on the board.

We were very happy with our visit to HogsHead Cafe. Huge menu, lots of variety, daily specials, fun atmosphere, etc. The place was busy, which is always a good sign. We tried the loaded tots, tiki tacos, Philly cheese steak and the she crab soup. Each dish was excellent.... But the service was even better than the food. Josh was excellent!

Most of the food was good. The she crab soup was very thin & oily. The sweet potato fries with the maple dipping sauce are fantastic! Fried pickles were great

Not sure why others have this so highly rated..its a bar with a big eating area..maybe that's why!!....food is very average and not very bar b quey...but I'm pretty serious bbq..er. .okay place but not really any reason to go back..and really no reason. Not to there if your looking for decent bar food

Food looked better than it taste. However, it was nice respectable establishment with several different options. The next time I go I will experience the bar and dine in.

All items were on the expensive side Pulled chicken was cold and had liquid that made the fries soggy. Green beans were inedible for us. Sweet potato fries were delicious Squash casserole was good. Pulled BBQ was just blah. And the BBQ sauce was cold. We will not be going back to this place. Waiter was nice.

Loved the menu, the ambiance and the staff. Ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Tacos. They were so good I went back the next week.

I was seated quickly, Got our drinks quickly AND got our food quickly. Our waiter was extremely nice, The food was amazing. I don't know our waiters name but I know he was a fighter he has a big mark on his eyebrow. Excellent waiter.

Kitchen is filthy i could smell it from where I was sitting, only because I was feet away from the kitchen. The food was good but I question my choice of venue after the atrocious odor coming from the kitchen. I got the shrimp and it tasted funky and had an unusual scent. I loved the hog sauce so I bought a bottle for 14$. My server said they needed to get a bottle from storage. He then proceeded to make a new bottle, "special" just for me. I then watched him pour from a gallon bottle of SWEET BABY RAY'S! Then slapped a hogshead "hog sauce" label on it. They are charging an ridiculous amount for a sauce that isn't even theirs. Never ever going back. Not to mention the owner, Kim, is a super racist bigot.

Overall don't think we'll be back strictly for price vs quality and flavor but the service and atmosphere was great. Food was decent but nothing worth a second trip for us and the prices on some of the items were insanely high. They seemed to have great options with the seasonal sides and desserts but the entrees and appetizers were generic chain quality in my opinion and $9 for a strawberry lemonade that seemed to just have strawberry syrup mixed in and no free refills was off putting.

Truly a cool hang out great food , excellent music and cooooold beer!! Successful combination.

$10 for a large hand squeezed nonalcoholic limeade is a bit much. Especially since it was very heavy on the extra syrup for cherry flavor. The food was ok but not great. Not many sauce selection for a BBQ place.

The photos don’t do it any justice! I went on a Tuesday night, and was sat immediately. I ordered a hogarita which was really good and the menu had more options than I thought it would so it took me a minute to order. My server Edith was very patient with me. 😊 I ended up getting the she crab soup which was so good and then I got the surf and turf with ribs and shrimp. Chefs kiss! Now I have to go back to try everything else that looked good on the menu.

This is a pretty good place. It has a fun pub feel to it and the food is pretty darn good. It's mostly your typical pub fare but they also have a huge specials board that they change out regularly. The food itself is amazing. While it can seem a little pricey when your looking through the menu, the portions are pretty generous and the quality of the ingredients more than justify the price. The only draw back to this place is the service. Some times the service is good and some times it's down right terrible. It really depends on the wait staff that is working when you come in. Definitely an area where the restaurant could improve. In total, this place is worth a try.

Quality of food was good - however, high menu prices and meager portions make for a poor value. After spending $40 per person, you should not leave hungry (as we did).

I have been forever spoiled...I can only order the Catfish Reuben. So good! Side of crispy sweet potato fries with maple mustard sauce is divine! Top it off with fresh limeade. Run and enjoy!

Pleasantly surprised. The pulled pork is their specialty for a reason, it is amazing but definitely try other items on the menu. The burger was done perfect "cookout style": slightly charred outside, juicy inside. The chicken tenders were buttermilk batter coated, delicious. The upstairs entertainment was excellent. Had a great evening. The service was the best selling point: fast and friendly. Always attentive and ready to help. Prices are reasonable for a West End restaurant of this quality. Highly recommended.

They offer standard bar food like wings, nachos, burgers, chicken nuggets, and hot dogs, but have a few unique items on the menu that are pretty good. I enjoy the Chicken Cordon Hog and Cuban sandwiches the most, but only when I can substitute brisket for the pork BBQ, add extra pickles, and get fresh sauce on the side. The wings are the full wing, not just the drum and flats, so keep that in mind when ordering (6 is 12 everywhere else). The servers are top-notch. Not the best place to support a diet, but pretty good for a cheat-day. This place has changed a lot from the original location, but it's still a pleasant choice for a brunch, lunch, or dinner.

HogsHead Cafe off Broad Street in Henrico is a consistent delight. Love their dual-floor setup with bars and outdoor seating. The menu mixes BBQ classics with unique dishes; the shrimp tacos and pork BBQ Cuban Sandwich are standouts. Their wing sauces and happy hour deals (3pm-6pm weekdays, till 2pm Saturdays) are top-notch. Live music and now trivia upstairs adds to the ambiance, and the staff is always attentive. They offer catering and an event space, too.

We love this place for the food but also really enjoy the live music upstairs on I think Wednesdays.

Very, very disappointed with this place. The worst brisket I have ever had. It wasn't even brisket, it was pot roast and tasted like burnt charcoal. Some of the meal was alright, but the meat could be compared to a fast food restaurant.

Will definitely go back. Cute place! 4 stars because it's very porky smelling and I'm not a fan of pork. BUT its called Hogshead cafe...LOL! Server was great! YAY Joshua D. Food was really good. This spot has been on my list for some time. Mac and cheese was surprisingly good. Yams were a a little too sweet but very tasty and the fried shrimp was very nicely done. Overall great experience, one of my staples for sure.

The food was so underseasoned! I'm not sure why they have good reviews. It hardly tasted like barbecue. It was more like pre-packaged broiled meat. The bakebeans were different but had more taste. I literally threw the meal in the trash. Nobody liked it. Money wasted.

Place was kind of dead at lunchtime, but the food has always been great here. Friendly people, and the prices are still a good value. It fell short on a couple of things..the chicken was dry, and my collards were meh. The Shrimp Tiki tacos are my go-to, and they were delicious. The BBQ plate was also tasty, and the rest of the sides were good. I do love their chili as well. We order a lot from work, so we will definitely be back.

When it comes to BBQ, this restaurant is one of the best in the area. I am part of a Meetup group and I've been here several times. This restaurant is a great place to have group events. The food is amazing and the service is great as well. If you're in the Henrico area then I highly recommend Hogshead Cafe.

Food was great! Definitely a place where everyone can find something. Very large portions, so some items can be split. Plan to bring friends and family to try it out!

Waiter brought my fiance a drink full of vodka. She can't drink alcohol because of epilepsy. So they still charged her for her drink. When I went to talk to the manager who was standing next to the bartender, the bartender gave me an attitude, the waiter gave me an attitude and the manager did nothing and my bill was still $45. They relented and took off the $10 lemonade. Will never return ever. Then when brought the bill it was "well I didn't know". I ran restaurants for 20 years. As a waiter your job is TO ASK QURSTIONS !!! Louis you failed miserably. Management failed just as much.

We always have a wonderful time. The staff is some very knowledgeable and friendly and very helpful. WE WILL BE BACK!!!

Excellent food and service, shecrab soup it's delicious

I visited HogsHead years ago when it was a small restaurant a little further up West Broad. I remember eating the Cuban sandwich then, and I was still thinking about it after all this time, lol. The new restaurant is much larger with an upstairs and outside seating both downstairs and up. I ordered the Cuban Hog, and it was as good as I remember. It had the perfect ratio of ham and pork, and the sweet potato fries were so crispy and delicious. My fiancé enjoyed his Hog Burger that was topped with pork and bacon. We also ordered the Hog wings in spicy garlic and were not expecting full-size wings. The wings are under the appetizers but are a meal by themselves, with enough for leftovers. There was so much taste. Also, the original flavored limeade was perfection. I really enjoyed the meal and the portions were huge for the price. I will be back.

Ordered hand breaded chicken strips and fries. Seasoning on fries had a sweet component. Why?

Decent BBQ. Way to much sugar in everything from drinks, beans, meat seasoning. Very fresh salad.

Had a great dinner stop here yesterday. I ordered the Shrimp & Corm Chowder to start and it was excellent! The Au Gratin Potatoes were incredible…razor thin sliced, built like lasagna, lots of butter, cheese, and garlic. Pulled pork was good, and their spicy Carolina BBQ sauce was great on top. The corn pudding was good, although way too sweet for me. Not a complaint at all, I just stay away from the sweeter dishes. Overall, and excellent dinner. They have a wide variety to appeal to everyone, along with a full bar. I would definitely go back, and recommend a stop there as well!

Let’s start with the obvious. The food is good. Now, just because you’re a BBQ place doesn’t mean you have to serve $18(MF) cocktails. That’s absurd, and if you’re charging that much, you need to be overly transparent about how much your drinks cost. Very poor customer experience here.

This restaurant was a nice surprise. It is located off West Broad, and the parking is decent. You can sit outside or inside. The wait staff is pleasant and attentive. The food was good, their is a variety of options and the portions are huge. My daughter, who doesn't eat anything, said that the burger on the pretzel bun was delicious. I had the steak and cheese, and my friend had the hog burger. We definitely had leftovers.

Waited an hour and a half AFTER getting our appetizers and still no service. I went into the building as we were going to eat Al fresco and saw the inside was only half filled with five employees at the end of the bar simply chatting. Infuriating. We canceled our order and paid for our appetizers then left. They charged full price for our appetizers and were damn quick with that bill. We will never darken that stores door step ever again.

I was in Richmond for meetings and decided to strike out on my one and have dinner. Found HogsHead on his website and figured why not? I like barbecue and the pickings are shockingly slim in the DC area. This place was great. I sat at the bar (even though I wasn’t drinking, but I was alone and didn’t want to take up a table) and had great service. Place seemed pretty busy but my food came fast. The pulled pork platter was great. The corn pudding was really tasty and the beans had a nice kick from jalapeños. I only used the “sweet and tangy” sauce and if we pretty standard tomatoes based sauce (this is not a complaint. ). They also offer a bungee based and a mustard based sauce. Dinner was reasonably priced.

I ordered the wedge salad with blackened chicken. The chicken portion was very generous but sadly was very dry. Mixing with salad really helped. I loved my fried green tomatoes! Sliced thick and crunchy and tart.

I was surprised to be underwhelmed. I thought for the price the portions were rather small but did taste good. And while the hush puppies were well seasoned they were very dense/dry.
