Best authentic Korean food in Anchorage Need I say more...

Delicious food and welcoming atmosphere. Though I may not frequent many restaurants it was pleasant going there with my family.

If your looking for authentic Korean food and amazing service, this is the place to go. They are open late which is rare here in Anchorage. 20 out of 10 recommendation

We ordered kimchi pork belly (doordash) and it came with side dishes and rice. Tasted authentic and delicious. Rice was of good quality. Happy and satisfied.

What really had this place is the service. The service was very top tier compared to the other korean restaurants here in Anchorage. Very friendly and inviting. The food was good too. Thought it was weird that it was frozen but it worked for the BBQ grill. The right amount of side dishes were there as well. The atmosphere was almost. Just needs to feel more kdrama like when entering haha.

My friend brought me to go food from Hometown tonight. I have had many Korean food places in my day all over the nation, and Hometown had some of the freshiest most authetic Korean I have tasted. The sauce for the Budae Jjigae was so flavorful and delicious. Portion size and prices are spot on as well. If you like fresh, authetic, and flavorful Korean food that hits the spot. You have got to try this place!! More reviews: I have now eaten here on location 3 plus times! Food is hot fresh and delicious. I love all the side items they offer. Service is amazing and is there to make helpful suggestions on menu items. If you are in anchorage you must try this Korean place!!

It's everything I look for in a resteraunt: It's delicious, it's cozy, it's authentic. The grilled mackerel is amazing, and using the table grill is certainly one of the more enjoyable eating experiences in Anchorage. Thank you for being here!

The worst Korean food experience I ever had. Waitress was rude and price was so expensive that I can't help but laugh. Never going back.

Food was really bland. My kimchi soup seemed like it was microwaved, bulgogi was so bland, jap chee tasted like original top ramen.

Expensive but delicious! Fresh ripe mangos on top of shaved ice, with a hefty scoop of vanilla ice cream and a side of sweet condensed milk. It's called Mango Bingsoo I think.

Terrible service. The way they serve their customers is horrible, at least in our experience. We basically had to ask for everything, we were never offered water, napkins or utensils. We were waiting for a long time and there weren't many customers. The girl who served us was not pleasant and she kept ignoring us all the time. We were the last to be served when we were the first to arrive and there were not enough customers. The prices are extremely high and the tips that are included are insane. Horrible, I would give 0 stars if I could.

Good food, moderate quantity and price. We had the bibimbop and chicken bulgogi. We really liked the busy city ambiance here, with lots of diners but it didn't feel crowded, and the bulgogi smoke smell wafting through the air was wonderful. They are generous with the banchan, and service is friendly and efficient. I would definitely come here again. Eat in, instead of take out, for the pleasant atmosphere.

This is one of my favorite Korean restaurant, very nice and serenity places they don’t rush you out the food phenomenon everything so tasty

Salty foods and service was not the best. No refills on water or side dishes. Came by to take my order and to give. Maybe they only serve people who speak korean.

Finally made it in after watching this place for years. Would see whole tour buses unloaded into it. Have seen it closed due to reservations. Always had wondered and heard great things. Needless to say, the wait was worth it. Keep in mind, this is a homestyle place. You can grab your drink from the cooler. Grandma will seat you and bus table, another lady does menus and runs food. Things might take longer, but this isn't a placed focused on speed. You can have it fast, you can have it right. You want fast, go get 비빔밥 at top bop. Warning, we super over ordered, thinking it was a typical americanized place, so we took some home. Daughter got 돌솥비빔밥 without realizing, because the menu's translation mostly lists the ingredients. Meaning it said "steam rice, egg, vegetable, beef". No complaints, she loves 비빔밥. Wife got a noodle dish, again, wasn't sure what she was ordering since it listed ingredients. I got goat stew, blood pudding, and got kimchi pancake to share. If my Hangul was better i think this experience would be even more amazing. I'd suggest maybe ordering a meal per two people, if you are going to have a proper Korean style meal. But I'm not your mom.

Delicious 😋 food and wonderful service

Great Korean food and open late. I ordered the spicy squid and vegetable stir fry. It was amazing. The seafood pancakes and bulgogi are really good as well.

Visited from CA. Customer Service 5/5 Short Ribs 5/5 Tteokbokki 5/5 (so good we had to get one to go) Sea Food Pancake 5/5 Soft Tofu Soup with Pork 4/5 Sides are delicious! Spent over 100. Highly recommended.

Food was absolutely great! Obviously it isn’t the same as the KBBQ in the lower 48 but it’s still an awesome choice! The banchan was sooo delicious and the beef was great! They give you a lot so we were full after just the first round. If you haven’t been to a KBBQ at all this is a great place to start!

Not bad but expensive. The bossam was good for the most part but had some dry pieces. The bibimnaengmyeon was very good. Great banchan side dishes. I’ll come back but probably skip the bossam.

We came to this restaurant from a referral from My Thai restaurant in Anchorage. Both excellent places. Ordered the 2 Kalbi platters. Cooked perfectly. Seafood pancake had lots of prawns and squid. Quite large but could of been more crispy. Lots of side dishes to compliment the meal. Not a dressy place but a great family run restaurant. Will be back again.

Hubby and I got hungry after our Valentine’s Day movie, so I looked online for some Korean restaurants. I have three that we typically frequent but it was after 7pm and most restaurants were closing. Thank Heaven for that because we found Hometown!! I begrudgingly go to another Korean restaurant because I enjoy their food but the customer service is subpar and if a specific waitress is working she is absolutely rude. But I’m happy to report Hometown is warm towards ALL their customers. We were greeted and taken to our table where we were immediately offered hot tea. The food followed shortly afterward and it was delish!! It was Valentine’s Day so we splurged a bit lol. We ordered Tteok-bokki (spicy rice cakes) w/ramyeon, Bulgogi, kimchi jjigae (stew), and Kalbi. The banchan (side dishes) were good although I would have liked if they had my fave the gamja jorim. But that did not take away from our dinner experience that night. I enjoyed ALL dishes. I am sooo happy to finally have found a Korean restaurant that has awesome food and great customer service. Needless to say we had a lot of leftovers to take home for lunch the next day. Thanks so much Hometown❤️‍🔥🫶🏽.

If you’re looking for a great Korean restaurant I highly recommend Home Town! Their staff was so friendly and the food was even better! We ordered the Spicy pork, Bulgogi & Bibimbap w/ beef. Everything was so flavorful and so were the banchan!!! This is my second time going there and I will keep returning, next time we plan on trying the kbbq — and if you’re a late night eater they are open until midnight!

We were greeted with smiles and service when we entered. Our time given to view the menu to order was appropriate. Food was flavourful, pleasing to the eyes, and would recommend a go. Environment is casual.

I was told 20 minutes for pickup; I showed up on time and waited for another 30 minutes and STILL didn't get what I ordered. I had to leave and order elsewhere. Prices are high for Bad service and Bad Communication. 👎

I enjoyed the Korean food at this restaurant. Long wait as the food is being prepared fresh and always packed. I use that long wait to enjoy our company and have conversation with my little family. A little pricey however the food is great. Side dishes are made fresh and we enjoyed our time here. Friendly server always smiling great service.

Update - Waitress mentioned in my previous review no longer works here. Service is now great. Current waitress is very polite and extremely nice. Updated to five stars. This place used to be our family's go-to for Korean food for years, about once or twice a month. Food is definitely great, and really consistent. However, service is a crapshoot. Quality of the service is really inconsistent. Depending on waitress' mood, you'll either have standard service or very bad service. It's a shame, this place deserves 5 stars for their food but the service does ruin our experience here 50% of the time. If you are looking for great Korean food and can ignore a little rudeness and attitude here and there from the waitress, give this place a try.

Subpar service, great tasting foods, and plenty of side dishes. Explains how certain dishes can cost up to $60+. Servings are great and comes in sizzling. Had a slight discomfort of feeling biased compared to the other Korean customers dining in. If I hadn’t learned Korean I wouldn’t have overheard the negative complaints coming from the servers. Server never came by to check on us on how the food is, but checked on the other customers. Only was friendly taking welcoming us, taking our order, putting away dishes, and providing the check. Would recommend if you’re into a full course, Korean meal.

First time here and luckily I went with a group of friends that knew what they were doing, the food was excellent, the place was clean, and the family style dinner was great! If you’re looking to try something new or a fan of Korean I highly recommend this place.

I got the seafood soon tofu and it was fine. Banchan (appetizers) are good.

The professional woman owner held the entire place together. It was slammed full and she never lost her grace. I was so impressed. Thank you Miss Lady.

The best meal we had during our 2wk visit in Alaska. Dishes marked as "Spicy" actually do pack some heat, everything tastes freshly cooked and delicious, and they are open on 4th of July! One con is the waiting time for to-go orders is quite long (expect 1hr plus wait), and no one answers the phone for call-in orders, but they are on doorDash so plan ahead.

Some of the best Korean food I’ve had anywhere. Well worth a visit if you’re craving Korean. The customer service here isn’t ideal since there’s quite a few tables indoors but only 1 server to manage them all. We had to wait 15 minutes to order food after we had perused the menu and it was tough to get a hold of the waitress. It took 30 additional minutes for food to arrive and had to flag down the server again for water. They should consider bringing a water pitcher to the table like many other traditional Korean restaurants. Now for the food, absolutely amazing. The Haneul Pajeon (seafood scallion pancake) was amazing. Huge portions, delicious flavor, nice amount of seafood and fresh scallions, not overly doughy. Really really well made. Unlimited banchan was fantastic. All the korean side dishes were spot on but the egg, seaweed, pickled radishes and cucumbers were stand outs. The grilled pork and beef was good although not the best quality I’ve seen. It’s fun to cook yourself however. The squid stir fry was fantastic. The soft creamy napa cabbage, crunchy cucumbers and carrots, loads of squid perfectly tender and smothered in a gochujang based sauce was awesome. Prices are definitely on the higher side but well worth it. Once you sit down, there’s no pressure to leave and was a fantastic experience. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

I've tried the majority of Korean restaurants in Anchorage and this is my go to. True to its name it just feels closest to home cooking. The sides are the best, the service is fast and the food consistently good.

Amazing Korean! They have the best kimchi pancake I've ever had. The table cooked bulgogi and other meats are great for groups.

I had an excellent lunch. I ordered barbeque beef soup. It was very good and the side dished were very fresh. They were very busy for a Sunday morning and the staff was very good.

Best Korean in Anchorage hands down. Can't say enough good about the food at hometown. Even with a small staff the service is excellent. I've never been disappointed by anything I have eaten here and the portions are quite substantial. Figure on around twenty bucks a plate, and believe me that's a bargain for what you get.

Most of my companions are satisfied with this place, but somehow my green onion beef soup was light as hell. The soup’s color looks right but it literally does not have any flavor. Not sure if it’s the default or just an outlier, but that soup was the worst I’ve tried of it’s kind.

I had the bulgogi and it was amazing. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of it. It was too delicious looking to not eat it right away. Would recommend!!

Very good korean food, spicy kimchi.

I love the soups for lunch. When I'm with a group, I usually order the samgyeopsal. It's my favorite. They let you cook it on the table top yourself. Pretty cool experience combined with the beers. So many delicious side dishes too! They really take care of you!

The food (any dish) is always good...that's why i keep going back! The owner friendly and always thankful! So far the only place I could find delicious soondae dish.

The food is pricy but the atmosphere is pleasant, if a little rowdy in the evenings. It’s a great place to go with friends. You can get a bunch of food to share while enjoying tea or soju. The staff is very friendly as well.

On a Korean food kick, I was excited to try Home Town Restaurant. One of the few places in Anchorage to offer table top cooking, Home Town Restaurant has a large menu with a variety of options. My table opted for the spicy rice cake appetizer, the spicy BBQ pork, the Korean grilled chicken, and a Korean lager to share. Banchan came to the table first, and we were happy with the variety of pickled treats. The spicy rice cake appetizer was ok, but not as spicy and/or flavorful as others I have had. The BBQ pork had a good level of spice and flavor, but the meat was fattier than what I've enjoyed elsewhere, so some of it went uneaten. The "Korean" chicken tasted more like teriyaki chicken than anything. Portions were large, but relatively pricey. Our service was average, but not especially memorable. Overall, it was a "okay" dining experience, but I'm not sure I'd go back- especially since we later discovered we were overcharged on our bill...
