This is the incredible rebirth and reimagining of what has to be one of my favorite restaurants of all time. The chef, Jay and his front of house (and life) partner Jocelyn, continue to raise their already high bar, higher. There are other great restaurants on Orcas Island, but I can say that Houlme and its earlier incarnation, Hogstone, have never failed to delight us. If Michelin rated restaurants in Washington, Houlme would certainly be in the running. To be clear, although their pizza is outstanding, it's the rest of their menu that is amazingly innovative and just really, really tasty (and visually stunning)

Amazing meal with fresh local ingredients. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The popcorn bread was fantastic.

We have been here over a few years. As others have noted things here seem to be going down hill. The backyard has broken tables everywhere. No dogs allowed. No take out. Two pizza options. 1 hour ten min to pizzas. Pizza was good. Lots of pre-dinner apps that mostly don’t hit the mark. Summer squash was watery/tiny. Hybrid serve yourself model with 20% gratuity added mandatory above 5 party. Just honestly not a great option anymore. Used to feel much “homier”

Houlme / previously Hogstone had been my go to pizza on Orcas Island for a few years... I literally looked forward to it all year. But it's not getting better with time. This last visit a couple days ago, we got the Kevin and the pork entree and both were over done. They also took almost an hour. And fairly importantly I've never had a good wine here. They've all been skunky and sometimes downright bitter. I've never had a good wine at Houlme but I've never had a bad wine at Kingfish. Please copy Kingfish's wine list and toss yours Houlme.

Good food at reasonable prices and great ambience, good service

We had a fantastic dining experience. We sat at the counter and loved watching the chef create sublime dishes. The chicken fried rib eye was out of this world. The butter cake we had was unique, not too sweet and very tasty. The wines were fantastic as well. The rose’ from Austria was delicious. I would highly recommend!

We really enjoyed this place. The menu was unique and good. The Wood fired oven added a good Smokey taste. We were here in the winter and were able to eat without a reservation. Others had reservations and I can see why. It’s a smaller place focused on quality over quantity.

Amazing food and staff. Don’t leave orcas without eating here!

Amazing. Tell your friends! Every course was delicious and unique. Affordable. Friendly staff. We felt like we were dining at home.

Updating previous review as of 11/19/2023 They now post sample menus! Pizza is back on track! The cry cry cry with hot honey is amazing. The pizza crust is spectacular and well cooked with excellent Leoparding top and bottom. Pizza Wolfe had spectacular sausage with a few fennel flavor. Sides are good also. Mangalitsa pork belly with nardolo peppers and blackberries was unctuous and cooked just right. New potatoes with cheddar fume and onion reduction was so tasty. Service was excellent. So much better than prior experience during the summer. The new space is gorgeous inside.

We had a fabulous meal here, start to finish. Super unique small plates, delish pizza with summer onions and hot honey, amazing service and love the decir/atmosphere. Win for Orcas, can’t wait to go again as menu changes frequently.

We live near Ken's Artisan Pizza, literally in the top 20 of best pizza places in the world... Houlme is right up there. This place is delicious. Low key. Lovely location. Excellent service. Some of the best pizza we've ever had. You can't miss out on this place if you're on the island. Worth every penny, and then some.

Maybe the best and favorite meal of my life. Every bite was amazing, fresh and inventive. We sat outdoor on a Wednesday night, which was a great vibe, and if the menu was scaled down we didn’t feel it’s impact. We tried four tapas and dessert, and the staff was great with helping narrow our choices. The pride they took in the food was clear. All-time meal in an all-time location I won’t soon forget. 10/10

Honestly would have given four stars just based on the fact that they were open past 7 pm ( a rarity on this island) but the 5 stars are based upon the excellent food and the friendly staff. Would happily eat here again.

We tried pizza. It was expensive and not out of the world. It was decent. I have had really good ones at this price. We got warm fresh food on a rainy day so giving four stars.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Only had small plates, so can’t speak to the pizza, but everything was delicious. Inventive food without being gimmicky—the smoked plums in yogurt were amazing, as was the strawberry granita. Service was spot on and atmosphere was cool and relaxed but with very attentive service. Truly a stand out.

We ate there for dinner on their Wednesday night outdoor dining experience. We got the mixed greens salad, the honey glazed carrots, and 4 pizzas: - Cry, cry, cry - Pizza Wolve - The Queen - Kevin The pizzas were all very good! Love the outdoor seating experience. The waiting list moved relatively quickly. The wine was tasty as were the root beers. They provided good service as well.

Lovely to spend a summer evening in Houlme’s garden watching the sun set behind the hills. Food is amazing - the dishes are light, summer-y / seasonal, change often and no overpowering seasoning, celebrating the ingredients. Nice wine list too with natural wines, orange wines, etc.

Exceptional dining experience! The salmon was delicious as was the kale pizza. We loved the carrots too!

Had the best meal here the other day - such a treat that something this special would be on Orcas. The food/natural wine menu is outstanding - I am gluten free(celiac) and multiple starters worked for me and were both delicious and filling. Can’t wait to come back!

This is an absolute must go if you’re on Orcas for the weekend. The food is amazing - incredible attention to detail, inventiveness, and care are all on display. To top it off, they are one of three restaurants in the state that serve Floodland beer. Go. Make a trip just to eat here. It will be well worth it, and won’t break the bank.

This place is a gem. We had one the most amazing fired up pizza’s here. Crispy, fresh and delicious. The staff was friendly. We were in a hurry to get to the ferry, and the staff served our food promptly. Definitely coming back to the Orcas for their pizza!

My wife and I didn’t know this place finally opened and are we so happy it is. The chef and all the employees are over the top and make the dining experience awesome! The food was out of this world, to turn a green leaf salad into having every bite better than the last is amazing. The Crudo dish was just phenomenal and the pizza is the best in town especially with some delicious Cab Franc wine! We will definitely be regulars at this establishments.
