HuHot Mongolian Grill in Fargo - Phone Number, Reservations, Reviews

The food was generally good, but one specific item that went with the meal had a very bad and unusual taste. It was a favorite side dish for me and left me with a bad stomach feeling and wanting to throw up. I reported this situation to the manager and her only response was that the product was not expired. Until today this was my favorite restaurant when I was in Fargo, ND. Today I just tell people to be careful with the food and check that it is in good condition to avoid food poisoning.

The service is extraordinary. They've always been helpful, including discussing health needs and finding alternatives for us. The food is great, too.

The only reason for the 4 stars on service is that this is basically a self-serve restaurant. Samuel was great though. Coming here for lunch was a no-brainer. We had one in Bloomington, but it's been closed for a while now. I don't think it was in a good location, it needed to be near the Universities. If you like Mongolian BBQ/Grill, you need to come here. Grab a bowl and choose your meat selection, all you want. Then move to their wide selection of vegetables. After that, choose from about 15-20 sauces. If you have too much, grab a second bowl! You hand it to a 'grill warrior' who cooks it all on a large flat-top griddle. Eat & enjoy. If you're still hungry, make a return trip. Of course there's a decent selection of appetizers and desserts. Pig out! Then sit back and ask yourself, "Why did I select so much?" I had some self control today, but not much....

Pretty normal HuHot, good service, clean and the grill was hot.

Food was uncooked, many friends got sick from eating. Whole area was crazy, food was all over the floor and counters, cross contamination was crazy bad, I had like 3 different items in my bowl that I did not add.

We go to a different HuHot out of state and we love it. However this one was a disappointment. The sauce station was a mess. It was in need of a wipe down. My hands are all covered in sauce. They did have sanitizer and paper towels but they were not located by the grill so you could set your bowl down and then wipe up. The food was also not refilled often enough. My son only eats the crab and they ran out. The veggies were not presented well. They had the diced celery sitting in water. The black beans looked brown¿ish....? We are also used to a show with the HuHot grilling team. This crew did their jobs but it appeared to be only a job. I can understand why.... Our crew were the only ones who tipped the whole time we were there.... So much need for improvement. We won't be back to this one....

I got a carry-out bowl with delicious noodles, beef, and Black Thai Peanut sauce. Despite having a lot of customers, the person who rang me up at the register was fast and polite. The grill cooks are masters of what they do, because the food came out perfectly. Also, a waitress was so kind that, despite having a full tray of drinks, she still tried to insist that I go first through a narrow area. Absolutely SPOT-ON food and service. Highly recommend.

Excellent gluten free dairy free options! The staff knew how to clean the grill and separate my food from the gluten bowls cooking nearby. The signs are clearly marked with gluten free sauces/add ons to your bowl. Great GF experience.

The service and food selction/quality were great, but cleanliness not so much. The buffet area was a mess. There was spilled food and sauces on the floor, all over the counters, and foods spilled into different containers. Several employees came out to restock the buffet while I was there, but not once did I see anyone cleaning. Very disappointed.

Manager told us that there's nothing they can do about the bugs being in their fresh produce coming in, and that she could dock off a few bucks off the bill and my friend can go ahead and grab another plate, "as if it's not a all you can eat place already", a very kind waitress took authority and gave us the meal for free and only charged us for the drinks, I still tipped her $15 cause she displayed good customer service and understanding.

Food that was frozen had odd taste, lots of different sauces for flavor

8 of us gals were here..June ,2024..was first time for 3 of them & they really liked it....manager came by twice to check..our Waitress, Amanda was terrific..

We love eating here. The staff is great, the food is great. The only negative thing is it could use some updating. Some of the signs above the food and the sauces can even be read.

It's always nice to make whatever you like especially when they have seafood

We were in Fargo for 5 days and HuHot Mongolian Grill was across from our hotel. We tried it because it reminded us of a restaurant in Van Nuys, CA that has since closed. HuHot was all that we hoped and more. You can go up as many times as you like for the food. But, eat what you take because you are not able to take any leftovers home, no doggie bags. There are appetizers available on the menu- egg rolls, wontons, etc. We didn't have any appetizers, we went straight to the food line! There is ample free parking as HuHot is in a strip mall. It also has Handicap access. Definitely Vegetarian options as you make your own bowl. It is also kid-friendly. There were lots of families when we were there. Not sure if it was because it was Mother's Day or not but there were a lot of families, with children, there. There are 3 self serve areas, one for meats, seafood and noodles, one for the veggie toppings and one for the sauces and oils. We tried beef, spicy sausage, shrimp and chicken (we each we 2x). There is a board with sauce suggestions based on if you want sweet, sweet and spicy, spicy or hot. Or, you can do your own combination of sauces and oils. We did our own each time and each time was delicious. The cooks are quick and our food was cooked perfectly. No soggy or overdone noodles, the meat and seafood was perfect and they do not co-mingle sauces between the various bowls that were being cooked! HuHot was a great find in Fargo. Go there if you are ever in that part of the world!

Our family loves HuHot, but this specific location smells like feces. When we were there a few months ago, I thought it was a fluke, but it smelled like that again today. This location is also extremely dirty and sticky. Our waitress was wonderful and the food was good - they just need a major scrub-down.

My first time eating here was Friday April 26th 2024. Around 2pm. Was a great experience and food tasted GREAT, price was cheap, service was top-notch. If you like real spicy, that taste great they have sauce options worth a try. Also have medium spice and no spice sauces as well.

Food is good, but you will likely die here in the event of a fire, active shooter, etc. as the emergency exit is completely blocked by a register and high chairs. If they are blatantly disregarding this safety issue that we can all see, are there other safety issues that we can't see? Are they following food safety procedures? Are they serving us food that has not been kept at the proper temperatures? Is there any cross-contamination happening in the kitchen? Are they properly cleaning all of the dishes?

The food is always great, but today's experience wasn't. I told the cook that I didn't want the server cooking my food because his hair was all over the place. Then the 2 cooks started talking about me in Spanish not knowing I understood everything they said. Won't come back if that's what I gotta deal with.

If you have never done a Mongolian grill place... before good place to check out . Would loved to see some more varieties of meat .. and raw eggs ... The price was very reasonable...for the food..

The food ingredients were good, a wide variety of ingredients. The sauces were less than desired. They were bland. Had to use a lot to get any flavor in your food. I have had better. If you like bland food, then it's ok.

You’ll love it! Like $17-$20 per person depending on mealtime. All you can eat. Super fresh and flavorful. Lots of different sauces of differing spice levels. Nice dining area and we had great service. They’re happy to explain to you how it all works. Plus fun to watch them cook it up.

Fun fun fun fun fun fun! Just the best. Really really great restaurant that's very unique, very healthy, and an amazing time for everybody. You do sort of have to have a chef mentality and that you're picking raw food for them to cook. IE not everything goes together. But it's an amazing amazing place with great desserts and customer service and fresh fresh fresh fresh

Awesome fresh food! You build your own stir fry Bowl with whatever meat, vegetables, sauce, etc. Then you take it to the grill where it is cooked for you. It is so tasty!

Review edit 4-1-2024 Since my original review, I have gone back 3 times to check and see if anything had changed as I've had people tell me it was much better. Each time the place has now been significantly cleaner. I feel like the service is still very so so. I guess I don't understand how it can take so long to grab a drink. None the less, the food was great. overall my experiences were far better. I have updated my star rating and would now again recommend trying huhot out Original review: The food can be great, and once upon a time the service and atmosphere was great. But now the last few times I've gone, the place is gross, Very unclean. My last visit I was seated and had to wait a little over 10 minutes for someone to approach me about my drink choice, sometimes we get busy, I get it. As I was sitting there I noticed in my booth, that the walls looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. Grime all over the wall, food all over the wall, and BOOGERS on the wall. You could clearly tell that no one has gone through the effort of cleaning. And it wasn't just my booth, everywhere I looked it was dirty and gross. The buffet was unclean and the cook area (which I understand is hard to keep clean while your working) looked as if they had not even attempted to clean it at all during the day, it was 2pm, and the grease traps were overfilled dripping all over the floor, they were re using dirty spatulas to cook the food. When I returned to my table, still no drink, and I noticed that people who had showed up after me already had theirs on their table. At this point it's just bad service. I was at the point where I didnt even want to eat my food. I don't intend on returning anymore until I've heard things have gotten better.

First time eating there. And certainly will go back. Their allergy friendliness is phenomenal.

good food, good service, and not bad atmosphere. However, if you are totally blind or have a disability, they have to figure out what to do with you first. Believe me we’ve gotten some strange looks. But it’s OK overall I guess. I would be remiss if I did not advise people to never never order a takeout meal from this place. I did it one time, paid the full buffet price, and ended up with a bowl full of rice, and about a fourth of a bowl of meat and sauce. No thank you.

They keep the buffet area always filled with food and the grill is always going. Friendly staff on the floor, grill people rarely smile but can't blame them it gets really hot in there.

Love it. It would be cool if they could come up with cheese sauce.

I went for dine in.. it said open at 10:30… I walked in at 10:40 and was told it’s closed until 11… very embarrassing and then there is no pepper/ spice rack for us to add any flavor to it??

I love eating at this place. However, the day we went, the cooks on the grill tossed our food around initially and let it sit until it was plated. Noodles stuck to the grill, and food tasted burned. I will go back.

Awesome food served hot and fresh. Decent price.

Dining at Huhot has two highlights. Eating the food and watching the preparation. Choosing the meats, vegetables and sauces is fun too.

Update the hours on your website. If it says you close at 9 don't close at 2pm.

Always a good time at HuHot! Make sure not to go heavy on Khan’s Revenge sauce, else it will have its revenge next morning!🤣

I come to this Hu Hot pretty often and will continue to come back! During my last visit it was slow so I was excited to not wait too long for our food to cook. But that wasn't actually a good thing, it seemed like the grill was too hot and our food cooked very fast. The food was very dry and meat way over cooked. I used more sauce the second round but it didn't seem to matter. With all that said, I still will be coming back!

Pork tastes rancid everytime, the beef is always fatty or tough making it nearly enjoyable but the Chicken is the only good choice for your meal. Otherwise you get what you make.

Great restaurant the people cooking when I visited were all in good moods and seemed to be enjoying their work environment. Other staff working in the back could be seen popping out to clean up the buffet lines and restock quite often. Honestly a great experience this last visit to hu hot

It was awesome my first time there will return on my trips to Fargo N.D. ingredients were fresh and always stocked. They cooked food very fast and hot. My go to place when in Fargo N. D.

This place is one of the best places to eat. It is an endless buffet where you can choose any number of ingredients and sauces to create your perfect stir fry. I like to get four scoops of not so sweet and sour with a scoop of lime or lemon juice depending on how you want to mix it up and two scoops of the Mongolian sunburn. The organization of the cooks at the grill is just amazing wonderful teamwork and organization. When you go depends on the amount of time you wait around the grill. Choose times outside of the rush.

Delicious, you can only really be mad at yourself if you didn't like it.

2 of my kids are in Fargo. We all love huhot. Except this last weekend when we were celebrating graduation. 3 of 4 came down with food poisoning.

I love huhot :) Especially doing take out. You get an oversized bowl which you get to keep and you can fill it a mile high and take it home and have left overs that last you for days :) and you get a container of rice to go along with it. I enjoy adding soy sauce and making what I call “Salty rice”. It’s all so good. yummy

Probably the best place in town for your money. Family of 4 ate here and still under 50 bucks. Great place to get your veggies in.

Was my first time at HuHot and I went and made a second bowl of food. Left stuffed. I really appreciated the experience.

Love this place. What more can I say? It's a Mongolian grill. Make your bowls with the ingredients you like, add lots (more than you think) sauce, give the bowl to the grill warriors, they give you your food back all warm and ready to eat. Rinse and repeat until your belly is full. Super Yummy and worth the cost!

Great restaurant. It was very clean, and neat. They were very fast in cooking, if not the most friendly (tho that is to be expected when you are working rapid fire), tho our waiter was amazing, and very, very friendly. The food was fell cooked, and tastes amazing, tho the beef did taste odd. It might have been that I didn't put enough sauces on. Make sure you put sauces in your food. It is necessary. I would say more than 5. Maybe 7-8. Again, very clean, and had a happy atmosphere. Absolutely no music got in the way of the talking, which was nice, as I am one who does not want heavy metal blaring in my ear. It's a very good place for family dining. It is kind of expensive, but it's worth the food.

Mongolian Grill at its finest. Superb atmosphere and service. With lots of ingredients to build your favorite dish, and the sauces are so unique and bold, it is a wonderful experience every visit. A must restaurant if new to the area.

Clearly a very busy and popular Fargo dining location on a busy Saturday noon. We had prompt and courteous service, tasty fresh ingredients, that the cooks prepared and served masterfully. Some of the ingredients were missing or mislabelled and they were out of curry sauce which was a bummer.

I did not have a good experience from the staff at the huhot Mongolian resturant !... *Food ) sloppy served. And the preps didn't look too happy working their . *Service ) the servers treated me like I was invisible, when I waited 20 minutes to ask to pay my check . The servers would smile to all the white customers. But pass me up ( note I was the only black male customer in the whole resturant ). Thanks ..... *Atmosphere) I felt like I was being judged , because of how I was dressed . I had finished a 12 hour shift . And I was very hungry . I always show respect to everyone . But the resturant staff would frown when they pass me by . Or had an attitude when I ask any question. If your a different race of color . I wouldn't recommend safe dining at the huhot restaurant. Go else where where every race is treated with hospitality and respect .

Absolutely delicious. Just keep in mind they are a bit pricey, so come in on an empty stomach.

Was decent, just don't like how the food makes me have to use the restroom an hour later.

Floors were sticky and just didn't seem clean.

Always good food just wish the guy cooking would flipp noodles more often. Only half of them were done right.

Eating in is typically wonderful. First time ordering pickup, hours in advance and I had to wait 20 minutes. It was a salad. Cool cool 🙄

First time visiting the Fargo location and wasn't disappointed.

8/20/23 update: the service is just to atrocious to come here anymore. I tip $5-6 per $18/20 meal and even chip in at the grill. There are some great servers, but the latest batch of hiring has gotten down to the point where I have to either bring my own silverware and drink. The server tried to argue with me, and I had to inform him it was my last visit. I'm a 12+ year customer, and I'm sick of sharing with the manager(s) my experience. Until I see new ownership displayed on the front window, I can't come back here again. ------- This used to be my favorite place to eat however, the lack of ingredients, shortage of staff, and the lack of care the newer staff take towards their costumers is cringeworthy. The place underwent a management change 5 or 6 years ago and the seeds of decline began. It's time for another change in management.

Floor near cooking area VERY slippery due to it being rainy and wet spots. Very busy but didnt take long to get through line. Waiter chewed gum like a 14 yr old girl. Didnt check on us. No drink refills. Only brought one small rice for 6 people. Food was good though. Enjoyed picking out my favorites. Hostess held her cool with how busy it was at 1:30 on a rainy Sunday.

For a chain, we really love the food here.

I still day dream about this place almost every Sunday afternoon (when I used to go), even though it's been 9 years since I was last in Fargo. Maybe someday I'll visit again to go to the HuHot and say "hi" to a few old friends.

It had been so long since I had been to a place like this the food was delicious and fulfilling.

Food absolutely lousy. Tasteless, unappealing, and overpriced.
