I always get the chicken sandwich and fries but have recently disappointed with the food quality and proportions. They advertise (and used to have) chicken that was massive but now it’s rarely bigger than the bun. The fries went from a potato wedges to thin crinkle, but the price has stayed the same. Feels like I’m getting jipped and each time I order out there’s less and less. Edit: Just tried out the chicken sandwich again. Way smaller than it used to be. Maybe it’s because I do takeout that they don’t give the best cuts but the price is staying the same and the portions are getting smaller. Sad to see

Everything about this restaurant was great, from the very friendly and helpful waitress who offered meal descriptions and suggested wine pairings to the excellent food. Will absolutely be returning

Very good southern food and attentive service.

I went in as a party of one and ordered the Hunky Burger. Gotta say, it was very, very good and on top of that it was two smash burger patties (they don’t mention that on the menu)! Super, duper tasty. When you go in, ask for Ella. She’s super friendly, yet professional, all the while being super knowledgeable and personable. Ella is awesome! I sat out back, which is a nice way to enjoy the evening. It’s a quaint lil area of about 5-7 picnic benches that have more than enough room to be comfortable. My only feedback would be to invest in some mosquito traps; tonight there wasn’t any wind so I ended up with (only a few) bites, because they offered insect repellent, which I thought was really nice. Besides Ella and the burger itself, I was super impressed by how quickly the food came out. I was looking for a quick meal, and boy, I think I was in and out of the restaurant in 20 minutes! Overall, I’d highly recommend!

Yummy food, great service from Riley. My sister had to finish quickly to catch a flight and we were accommodated with grace.

This is a wonderful restaurant that never disappoints. Sunday fried chicken dinners are so special with the best chicken out there. Every menu item is absolutely delicious and unique. I highly recommend and will be coming back again and again.

I'm always a little skeptical of highly rated restaurants. Is it really that good? At Hunky Dory, I can confidently and excitedly share it is indeed that good. The food was exceptional and the service somehow even better! We ordered drinks, the country ham as an appetizer and for the main course - the grilled BBQ fish and fried chicken. The fish was so beautifully plated, a mix of colors, flavors and textures all perfectly cooked. The fried chicken was everything you want fried chicken to be, hot, crispy, juicy and flavorful despite a good allergy which reduced the chefs options for spices. They were friendly, accommodating and fantastic. Special thanks to Colleen our wonderful waitress and the kitchen staff for working around our allergies!!!!

Hunky Dory is the best food in Rhode Island. Hands down. I might be biased because my partner works here but honestly I don’t think I am. The food and drinks are always absolutely perfect. The specials are incredible. It’s just the best. The owners are really doing something special. It’s amazing, you can’t miss this.

loved everything about Hunky Dory: the service was super friendly and welcoming, they are very conscientious of dietary restrictions, the food is DELICIOUS (fried chicken sandwich ftw). their menu has a few non-alcoholic beverage options which I always appreciate. yummy dessert menu + some french press coffee for after dinner enjoyment. plenty of parking available in the lot across the street. the atmosphere was quiet - music played very gently, it was not too busy, perfect for an intimate conversation. I loved the very pretty dining plates, and the decorations around the space were thoughtful and inviting. Will definitely return next time I'm in RI!

What a delightful place. The food is top notch and the drinks are a real true delight. The service is always warm and welcoming and the food is just so dang fresh. Try the Dilly Beans! Their chicken sandwiches are amazing, I just wish they came with a small bit of fries or chips without the hefty up charge! We will continue to be back!

The server was so sweet and was a real person, talked to us and everything. The food was good, not 10/10 amazing but I'd totally recommend.

Booked a reservation for two through the website, was an easy experience using Tock. Arrived on time and our table was ready for us in the corner (great spot, near the cookbooks and kitchen. Our server (can’t remember her name) was absolutely fantastic, very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. She also shared some great information about how Sam creates the meals from scratch and how and where they source the meat and produce. The cocktails were awesome, very well done, and balanced. The Ginger Grant was the best of the four. The Hunky OF was very smooth. We started with the Pimento Cheese, the cheese was delicious and the the house crackers that were served with superb, really paired well with and complemented the cheese. The Hot Honey Drop Biscuits came out at the same time and these were my favorite food item, they were cooked perfectly, tasted amazing and the hot honey brought them over the top (they also were good with a little smear of pimento cheese) For the mains we also had the wings, cooked perfectly and the Alabama white was delicious, could have used more sauce, but I should have asked for more! Wife ordered the burger, which was tasty, with a side of the fries (so yum, the crispiness was perfect) and a side of the dilly beans, she loved those. Dessert was a perfect end to the meal, the almond cake was good and I thoroughly enjoyed my S’More cup (blend of chocolate graham and ‘mellow was on point). Chef/Owner is on another universe with his food. An absolute delight and enamoring of our senses. Will be back again, again, and yes… again. I couldn’t take a picture of my meal because I was just enjoying it in the moment- this picture is of my wife’s fried chicken, pickled green beans and side of beans which were ALL gluten free and the BEST fried chicken she’s ever had.

Had a meeting and the other party was running late. Popped in to Hunky Dory because I needed a quick snack and know that their drop biscuits are amazing! Grabbed an order to go…should’ve grabbed two orders, lol. I’ve dined in as well and the service and food were delightful. I’ll for sure be back sooner than later.

Hunky Dory is excellent. The atmosphere is laid back but high quality, the service is top notch, and the food is amazing. I think about those little biscuits at least twice a week.

Alright, I'll start with the impression I've formed that every one of Hunky's staff are some of the kindest, most authentically compassionate individuals I've ever been served by. Stepping into the reserved yet insightfully appointed building you instantly feel welcomed and cared for. That absolute differentiator aside, the food is honestly a gastronomical journey unto itself. Their chefs are masters of robust yet intricate flavors, wonderfully curated menu items that somehow perfectly mesh, and I could write a chapter on their mastery of texture alone. In my opinion Hunky Dory's opening has been the single greatest improvement to the East Bay's restaurant scene in living memory. I want to write up an individual glowing review for every item I've ordered so far, but it will be far too lengthy a review for sure. Thank you for your passion, dedication, expertise, and care!

Great meal. Service was fast and friendly. Food was excellent.

This place is truly a hidden gem in this area. We had dinner there as family of four ( Two kids under 4). Not only the food was amazing but also their hospitality was exceptional. Huge thank you to Talia who was our server that day. She was so sweet to kids as well and made us welcome there from the time we enter the restaurant. Back to the food, the bisquits were to die for. We are going to coming back for this. One thing tho, if you plan to dine here, make a reservation in advance. There are not many tables there so. Can’t wait to come back to that place~

Green tomatoes were thick cut and coating was very thick and tasteless, as were the tomatoes. The wings and chicken sandwich were covered in a sauce that I didn't like. Maybe a southern delicacy, but if so, not my fav by longshot. Good service, delicious hunky old fashion.

Hunky Dory is a restaurant that feels like you're hanging out in your best friends backyard, and your best friend happens to be a genius chef that gets all their ingredients from farmers in the neighborhood. I loved the crab Rangoon squash blossoms. Perfectly fried so they only tasted lightly toasted and the filling had delicious crab with a kiss of cream cheese. The scallops were also to die for. It's such a relief to find a place that makes you feel better after you eat the food instead of regretting that you over ate. Can't wait to return again!!

WOW. What a breath of fresh air this place is. We ordered takeout and the food was incredible. We shared the cheese dip and homemade crackers, which was a little too spicy for my liking but I'm admittedly a wuss when it comes to spicy food. My boyfriend LOVED it. I had the tomato and watermelon salad which was top notch and the hand rolled pasta which was exquisite. My boyfriend had the wings and burger and he said it was literally the best food he's eaten in a long time. We search far and wide for gourmet restaurants and are so happy we decided to give Hunky Dory a try. We will be back!

Thank goodness this place exists. Give me allll the pimento cheese and house made crackers! (And the fried biscuits!) I've had lunch, dinner, drinks and takeout already and I have nothing but good things to say. This place offers exceptional hospitality, high quality food and a very lovely ambiance (especially the little tables out back by the garden!) I also really love that they have a small pantry retail area where I can buy hard to find specialty products (some are even local!). So happy you're here, Hunky. Keep it up!
