A restaurant in Uptown New Orleans, this was such an experience. The spot is adorably cozy and filled with murals. Known for its authentic French-Crole cuisine, everything we ordered was an adventure. The owner, a New York native, happened to be at the restaurant the night we visited. He mingled around every table and gravitated toward us in such a warm and welcoming manner. Service, food, drinks and ambiance on point, I'll definitely want to have dinner there again.

U nforgettable dining experience that perfectly captures the soul of the city. The food is nothing short of exceptional, offering bold and authentic Creole flavors with dishes like their shrimp and alligator sausage cheesecake or perfectly fried chicken, all packed with a unique blend of spices and creativity. The portions are generous, and every bite reflects the rich culinary tradition of the region. The service is equally impressive, with staff who are not only friendly and attentive but genuinely passionate about making each guest feel welcome. Despite how busy the restaurant can get, they ensure every diner feels special and well cared for, adding a personal touch that enhances the overall experience. The ambiance at Jacques-Imo's is lively, eclectic, and quintessentially New Orleans. The funky, vibrant decor creates an inviting and energetic atmosphere that feels both laid-back and full of charm. Whether you're dining inside or out on their patio, it’s a place where you can relax, enjoy great music, and soak up the essence of the city. Jacques-Imo's is truly a gem for both locals and visitors alike.

What an excellent surprise. This was featured in a magazine number 8 of 24 in NOLA. We were also recommended by our Airbnb hosts. When you walk in it looks like it’s just a bar, but it’s not. It is small, and a little cramped but it was an old shotgun house so it’s really neat, and you actually walk through the kitchen to get to the tables. Food was top notch. We tried the alligator cheesecake- yes that’s a thing. Boudin balls and a special they were having blackened yellowtail tuna with oyster sauce. 🤤 must try.

Fun place, if your in the back you will walk through the kitchen and will be greeted by much of the staff. We had shrimp etoufee, pork chop and the shrimp and alligator cheesecake. The portions were large and the food was all delicious. If you go there and you can order only 1 thing get the shrimp and alligator cheesecake. It is so delicious. Due to allergies I can't eat the remoulade so we had one with and one without, my husband said the sauce was amazing and the cheesecake was delicious without it as well. Daniel B our waiter was fabulous, very helpful with great suggestions especially helpful with allergies.

Very good neighborhood restaurant! Got the crab meat stuffed shrimp was excellent. The fried Brussels sprouts were lightly sweet and was very good. We got the grouper cauliflower was good but we did not like the puréed cauliflower sauce. The cornbread was excellent! Overall a very good restaurant off the beaten path. Some nice restaurants on the block.

The appetizer Jambalaya was very good with the right balance of rice, protein, spices and heat. The red beans and rice may be too salty for some but this is NOLA! The cabbage was tasty. I had the Pan Fried Drum. A very interesting dish that was a winner for me! Lightly coated to ensure the flakiness of the fish. The cornbread was a nice addition. Now, the bread pudding....... FANTASTIC! Warm and not too sweet. Our server was WONDERFUL!

Took me far too long to make it this far uptown for a trip to Jacques-Imo’s. It’s just as good for all the creole favorites as people said. It would be hard to go wrong with any order here, but I can highly recommend the smothered cabbage as a side. You won’t be disappointed. The appetizer of fried green tomatoes was not good. Too plain and way undercooked. The sauce provided only tasted of mayonnaise. The shrimp still had tails, making me Have to dig through the sauce to take the tail off. The jambalaya was not worth ordering. Basically being rice smothered in canned tomato sauce. The best thing offered was the cornbread appetizer.

We went on Wednesday, for dinner, Gabri served us, the food was super delicious, the dishes "well served" I at least, the "personalized" attention that Gabi gave us, super 👌, it has nice details, like giving away a dessert ( business) and an e.trada that I don't remember the name 😅 the food is delicious and if you sit at the table in the back you go through the kitchen where everyone is very friendly, and there is less "noise". The chicken pontabla…one of those dishes that tastes as good as it sounds, and has the flavor you expect it to have. Combines well with the potatoes and mushrooms underneath. Solid entree. As for the rest of the dishes… Spinach salad, a bit strange of an idea for a salad. Very “thick leafed”. Tasted ok. The string fries get cold easily because of how thin they are. And they were over salted. The red beans and rice hidden underneath the fries were also uneventful, a bit under seasoned. If I had only gotten just the chicken dish, perfect score for the place. It took a good while for the food to come out, but the chicken was worth the wait. And the price. Can’t beat the VERY New Orleansy atmosphere and collection of art everywhere you look.

A fallen New Orleans darling which was once legendarily good, but is now somewhat akin to cheap French quarter food from a tourist trap--which is essentially what this restaurant has become. A true tragedy. The only caveat is the service was good. This place reminds me of a jumped-up Piccadilly now, no exaggeration, except it will crush your bank account. Overpriced: $35 a plate on average. The food was super salty...we scraped the seasoning off the dishes (steak and fish) Bizarrely small portions--especially the grouper that I had which was overcooked, overspiced salty, and a joke of a portion, frankly insulting. The sides were a joke, I felt like I was at Popeyes, except it wasn't delicious. Don't waste your time or money, simply too many good restaurants in the city to be worth it.

This place is loud, boisterous and fun! The menu is creative and interesting (alligator and crawfish cheese cake). Ultimately, I didn't love the food...though I may have just ordered badly. The boudin balls app was good. The cheese grits and the cheesecake were okay. The chicken livers were, well, liver. Bleah. I had the shirt rib and it was fatty and just not that flavorful. Quintessential New Orleans. This place has character. No chain restaurant familiarity. Unique ambiance. Colorful and chaotic and charming! The food was also good quality southern comfort food. Possibly - and I am not exaggerating - the best meal of my life, still dreaming about it the next day. You know it’s good when their “bread starter” is perfectly baked, garlic butter smothered corn bread. Atmosphere was so cool, food was INCREDIBLE, and service was top-tier (Doug was on POINT with all of his recommendations). Started with the grilled alligator, alligator & shrimp cheesecake (a must-order) and crab stuffed shrimp to die for. Then the crawfish étouffée and eggplant pirogue for mains - cannot recommend both enough. And the sides are amazing too. We had red beans and rice, smothered cabbage, spiced corn, and the most mouthwatering smashed sweet potatoes you’ve ever had. He was also kind enough to serve a bit of spinach salad between courses so we got our greens in 🤭 And THEN he served us an unreal combo plate with bread pudding with caramel drizzle and the most divine crème brûlée you can imagine. And can’t forget the fresh watermelon mojito and hurricane-esque cocktails. I swear I’m shocked this place isn’t on every NOLA food list. also 100000% worth the Uber from French Quarter! 10-10 would fly back down from NYC just for this place 🙏🏻

Cannot say enough good things about Jacques-Imo's. The food was AMAZING!! The staff was awesome, attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was crazy. Great vibes. Truly a must for any trip to NOLA. Alligator and crawfish cheesecake blew my mind. Boudin balls were a culinary delight. Blackened Redfish was life changing. Seriously, if you have the chance, go. Let the staff take care of you, they know what is good, and frankly everything is fabulous. I had unrealistically high expectations and they were surpassed in every possible manner.

I’ve traveled to several countries as a foodie and this is one of the best experiences ive had in a restaurant in a while! From the warm welcome by the owner Jacques, the immaculate service by Steven and staff, and the delicious and distinct food, it is a special all around experience that will let you wanting more. It was all wonderful: Watermelon mojitos, Alligator & Shrimp Cheesecake, Shrimp Etouffee and many more plates I had the pleasure to taste thanks to my family. Totally recommended and definitely coming back!

Service was outstanding. Waited 2 minutes for a table on a Saturday night. The food was very good. Excellent atmosphere. I'm far from a foodie, but highly recommend for a taste of real New Orleans food.
