The waitress was great and awesome burgers!

They have a great tap list that rotates frequently, and a menu that features well-executed pub fare. I highly recommend the "Totally Slaw-esome" burger plus a pretzel with beer cheese. Their patio is also a great spot to chill when the air quality is good!

I didn’t rate Food because we only had beers in which they had great choices! The Root Beer is also excellent. A great establishment for the Bismarck Craft Beer community.

Huge selection of beer and they are always rotating in new beers. Great burgers and they have a limited of time special that rotates through. I recommend trying it if you have a chance. Beer cheese dip is something you must try. The chips fresh and super tasty. This place is 21 and older only so don't bring your kids with. There is a little patio in the back for the nice days we get every now and then.

Great little restaurant for hamburgers and beer. The hamburgers are excellent, great flavor, good size,just the right amount of fat and crispy but not smash burger. Bun was also good. French fries are also vert good, especially with the beer cheese sauce. Highly recommend.

Burgers are good. Nice selection of craft beers. Root beer floats are excellent! Biggest drawback is the limited selection of side dishes (basically chips or fries). (2019) 2023 update: They used to have great chicken sandwiches, but not they are wafer thin patties of shredded, processed, and pressed chicken "meat" that have little flavor and less substance. The chicken sandwiches are extremely disappointing. 2024 update: now the server couldn't even get a simple order right of a bacon cheese burger and chips with cheddar jalapeño Seasoning. VERY DISAPPOINTING! The value does not rise to the prices they charge. Other burger places in Bismarck provide comparable food with better service at more reasonable prices.

It is one of the best burgers in Bismarck, I think it was better when it first opened, but still very good quality food. I don't drink beer but I definitely have the root beer each time.

Cozy out of the way place to grab a bite to eat.

Wanted to give lower star because they got me addicted to their fries haha! So good! But the burgers are even better. I dont usually like red meat but my father insisted to try it. I actually loved it! Seriously good food!

This was my first time here. The waiter was great. The atmosphere was good. My daughter and son-in-law were with me. We had a good time.

Always an amazing place to eat. Usually very quick unless the place is packed but even then, don't have to wait insane amounts of time for such amazing food. I have never had a bad experience to date.

Nashville chicken sandwich was just right with moderate heat. House made fries with Chipotle dip were awesome! Great beers and lastly, the friendly and attentive staff! I was traveling through and wouldn't hesitate to stop again.

If anybody thinks that the food at a certain place can't get any better, they're wrong! It's very possible at JL Beers. The beer cheese dip is amazing! Should be a food of its own. This is my new favorite place!

I ordered a cheeseburger and fries and was charged extra for condiments. I know inflation is high but this takes the cake . Then expect a tip? I will never go there again. Greedy people will never understand how to run a business

Normally have a good experience here, but today we called in our food order, then called back a few minutes later to hols the order-as something came up. When we called back to get our ordered going again after our delay, we were told "oh, it JUST now got done", so that was annoying, because we definetly didnt hold the order like they told us they did. But hey, if it just got done, fine no big deal. Well, we picked it up 3-5 minutes later and guess what? It was STONE COLD all the way through, burgers and fries both. So that was a complete and utter waste of money, and a pretty big disappointment from a place I usually enjoy.

Go for the beer and atmosphere. Like anywhere depends on who is cooking. I had sea salt fries that killed every taste bud. Saw a sign that said voted best burger. Maybe I should have tried that? 🤔 Parmagian fries go with those (from past experience). Service depends again on who is working. Just drink the beer.

One of the Best hamburgers I've ever had

I've never been to a JL Beers that wasn't perfect in every way. Spotlessly clean. Great service. Great food prepared perfectly and in front of me faster than I can choose from 40 beers on tap. It's the same story no matter which JL Beers you visit. The veggie burger is good enough to add to a real burger as an accoutrement. The only misstep is not having real chicken breasts like they used to. For uniformity purposes they grind the never frozen chicken and form a uniformly thick chicken patty. It's good, but not as good as I recall the real breasts being. It could be nostalgia ... but they need not guess when a breast is fully cooked anymore, so I get the reason. The handmade chips are perfectly crisp and seasoned. The fresh cut fries are as well. Try a huge soft pretzel with the beer cheese sauce; it's a treat you won't forget. If a pretzel isn't dessert enough have a float made with root beer or any beer that hits your fancy. For a tiny footprint every JL Beers makes a huge impression.

I guess you could say I’m in the hunt, following the leads to find the best burger of all time. I’m a Burger lover and potato chip lover. I had the coleslaw burger, the coleslaw was fantastic, burger was average. for side I had the dill pickle fries. And they were meh for lack of dill pickle punch. But overall a 8/10 I will definitely be going back. Fun and friendly staff as well.

Always a great experience! The service, burgers, chips and ice cold 1919 on tap. One of my favorite hangouts. Try the house made chips with dill seasoning and get a side of the cajun lime dip! They go so well together.

We were seated right away and ordered a flight of Ales from the Dark Side (Coconut was my favorite!). Humpty Dumpty and Rajun Cajun burgers were delicious, with jalapeno cheddar fresh cut fries on the side. Our server was pleasant and checked back a few times. It took a little while for the check, as it got pretty busy- we can see why! Good food and drink for great prices!

I love this place because it’s some what off the beaten path, clean and always has friendly staff. Normally for lunch I get a double burger with either a light beer or a root beer and it’s most defiantly my favorite part of coming through town for lunch. The bathrooms are extremely clean, floors spot free and the tables clean which is so hard to find these days! Will always be my first choice when coming through BIS!

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat. Food was great, Burgers, pretzels & beer cheese dip. Yum! Hubby highly recommends the root beer on tap! Our waitress gave great service and we were able to enjoy eating outdoors.

I have been a loyal JL Beers patron from Grand Forks to Bismarck. I like their beer selection and their food. My family tried eating here with our one-month old baby, but were not allowed as we had someone under 21. If this is their own policy, they should change it. If this is due to liquor licensing law, then we should have the law changed. Until then, we unfortunately cannot patronize this restaurant until all our kids are older - not sure if it would be worth the trouble of finding a sitter to go to JL Beers as a date night.

I give them 4.9 stars (rounded to 5) because the food is always great and so is the service. The only problem is THEY AIN’T GOT ANY ICE!!!! It’s crazy. Maybe they could keep a couple ice trays in the freezer for us normal folk?

Not a great experience this time, but the food was still pretty good. I don't like the fact that everything on their menu is à la carte.

Service was great. The 3 burgers our group had were delicious. We were surprised at the speed our orders arrived. The size of our side order of loaded fries was large. We had 2 side orders and it was enough for the 3 of us to share. Definitely will be going back. I want to try the different food items.

So to begin I go here pretty regularly food is good along with beers. With that being said I stopped in it was pretty loud and I didn’t wait to be seated we seated ourselves, spaced it out (our bad). By the time we got to where we were gonna sit we realized that the bartender taller dark haired gal must’ve been trying to talk to us because when we heard her she was fuming because we didn’t wait for her to seat us and proceeds to give us a bunch of attitude... When I go out to a restaurant and am going to give YOU money, and TIP YOU. I recommend you just keep the attitude to yourself.
