Wonderful food and great people! You can buy a few other things while you wait for your food. If you like pimento cheese you have got to try theirs!

Brian Brown runs a great store and grill. He’s got some unexpectedly good food coming out of this place, as well as some very friendly staff working here. I don’t often have complaints about this place. (Also, on a side note, they have a shelf ceiling to floor full of sauces ranging from hot wing sauces to BBQ sauces!)

John Brown’s is one of my favorite places to eat. It’s worth driving from Winston to King just to get their hot wings or chicken stew.

The first time there it was really nice . I got a pork BBQ sandwich plate with white slaw . Mmmmmm!

Beautiful little store, wonderful customer service and really tasty food at a great price. 100% recommend, worth the detour, and definitely worth stop. 5/5

What can I say about John Browns??? Pork chop sammich!!! Try the hot bar, during the week. Try the, wrll just try anything, you won't be disappointed 😊. Those local cantaloupe mmm mmm. Hats off to the staff. Always kind, friendly and fast paced, and accurate.

We stopped by after hiking up hanging rock which was about 5 miles. We LOVED the stop. We like to cook our own burgers and I’d rate my own at a 7/10. But these were 10/10. Better than any other local place or fast food chain. Could be biased based on our exercise. But we enjoyed it! They also have a very clean store and wonderful products.

We just stopped here for a quick bite after visiting Hanging Rock. They did not disappoint! Fries perfectly cooked and seasoned. Burgers made with local meat and full of flavor! Staff was patient, kind, and friendly. Selection of nostalgic candies, and good selection of other treats. Wow! Just Wow!

This is real country cooking, pizza is great, food deserts and please try their homemade pimento cheese. We get one atleast 2 times a month.

We have been going to John Brown's for several years. They are super consistent in the quality of food and super service. We drive about 40 miles to go there. We would be glad to drive 100 miles if we needed to to get the outstanding food and service. I recommend John Brown's to everyone!!

Quickly becoming my favorite place to eat in stokes county. Hot pimento cheese lives up to the hype. Potato salad is just the way I like it as well.

Great country store, with daily lunch and dinner specials. They carry old fashioned candies, fresh vegetables, frozen dinners and beef, dried apple pies and fresh bread every Tuesday, ice cream, home made pimento cheese, chicken salad, the best home made ranch dressing, canned jellies, etc. If you used to frequent Ronnie's country store in Winston-Salem, come here on highway 66 in King, NC. They also have boxed country hams too.

I've had buffalo wings from Stokes country n.c. to the coast and J.B. has some of the best I've ever had. Absolutely love this place.

Best pimento cheese in the world, to die for. Get the hot, it’s not hot but adds extra flavor. Everything in the fridge is delicious. All the stews are amazing. Stop here regularly for lunch heading home and burgers and hotdogs are really good.

Driving back from hiking, stopped by to get the chicken stew that was on the Triad news. They were sold out of it but you can call ahead and reserve. So I got the pork chop sandwich which from reviews is highly rated with an old gen breading. It reminded me of an Iowa pork tenderloin but a little lighter and sweeter breading but was 🔥 and for under 6.00 well worth it, looking forward to trying more on the menu. They also carried a local farmers grass fed beef, the hamburger and steaks looked amazing. 10.19: made the trip back and secured chicken stew, vegetable soup, homemade chili, homemade hot sausage and a local farmers hamburger and another pork chop sammie! Chicken stew: Delish! Veggie Soup: Amazeballs! Chili: on the sweeter side which growing up in the midwest with our chili was a bit different but it was really good too! Snuck in a homemade apple fritter for the wife too 😍. This place is the 💣!

Ordered 2 hamburgers, got home and they were both burnt to bad to eat! First time this has ever happened. We could tell they were very busy, but that was no excuse.

Food is pretty good, but if you want meat with your dinner you have to go early they run out by evening.

East Coast who? Best wings around with several flavor options which are all delicious! As a matter of fact, all of their food is delicious! Get your local produce, meat, and sides here. Along with many unique sauces, seasonings, and snacks. My favorite food store ever!

I shop here for lunch or dinner 1-2 times a week. Love love love it!!! Their meatloaf is my favorite. BBQ is a close second. Their store has everything you need and comes from local areas. Store is extremely clean and staff is very welcoming and helpful.

John Brown's catered a recent event for me. Placing the order was an easy process, Brian was very helpful in addressing my questions. A follow up message about the order received quick response. At pick up the order was ready to go and all ordered foods and drink items were accounted for. The price was more than reasonable. When we unboxed everything, the food temperatures were spot on, portions were huge and everything was delicious! Our guests commented multiple times on the delicious food. I highly recommend John Brown's for your next event.

Third time at John Browns. First and second time, great. This time, epic fail. I tried the ribeye sandwich, and believe me, I know ribeye has a little fat, but it is suppose to melt in your mouth, but this sandwich was probably 75% unchewable, rubbery fat! Just a very cheap, thin, fatty piece of meat. If you're going to try to cheap out, expect to see it in your reviews. And also, they forgot my fries, I had to go back and get them. Maybe they changed the help and got people that just dont give a rip. Sad.

My favorite place to get great food, from soups, sandwiches, hot plates lunches, it's all carry out except in summer, they do have a picnic table. They also have a variety of others supplies.

Nice stop after a long hike at Hanging Rock, for snacks, lunch, whatever. I got a mushroom/swiss burger, it was juicy and flavorful. Downside is there really is no place to sit and eat, the food is good but would be better if they had a few tables and chairs at least. Interesting selection of products from loose candies, to steaks, cheeses, honey, other jarred goods, sauces, and small collectibles. The locals are friendly, has a "good ol boys" and country vibe to it.

Ol' John Brown's is great! It's one of the few places local where you can still get some homemade honey, or grape leaf pickles along with fresh veggies and pintos too if you'd like. One of our favorite go-to meals in the chilly months is their awesome chicken stew, but call to reserve some, because it goes fast as it should. It really is great. Whether you're driving by and need fresh ingredients for a recipe or need to call in a plate to save yourself from cooking dinner, this is where you need to be.

John Brown has excellent food especially their chicken stew, pizza and French fries. Highly recommend the food.

If you are about the country life this is the place for you. Fresh made food. A very underrated Hunt Brothers pizza. A hot bar with fresh made food the way grandma would make it. And also the ice cream. Along with the fresh produce, and meats. Old school candies. And also a dealer of the famous Mrs.Pumpkin's chicken pies. If you are in the area it's a must shop. And if your not and you want that touch of country living John Brown's is the place for you.

A rare find, food prepared from scratch, a special every day. That, in addition to a selection of farm products that look like they were growing yesterday. Then, and best you have time to ponder a wide variety of candy; candy that I enjoyed when I was a kid in the movie theater (let's not discuss age, but I watched Disneyland every Sunday on TV - one of THREE channels available). If you're in the area, stop in, you will enjoy it.

A true hidden gem, home cooking to have boxed & take home or cold homemade food to buy. It's like a lil Mast General store. Right off the road, easy in and out, quick check out, easy parking, and fine Southern Hospitality, you must visit.

The food was good but i stood there and waited about 30 minutes for our burgers and people after us that made bigger orders got their food first. They also got burgers and such, otherwise I would think it was just our burgers that took longer. The girls that were at the counter weren't friendly either so it was awkward standing there waiting. I did enjoy there little selection of take home desserts and such to choose from!

The food itself was on par and good as usual. But it's just something about the staff that made you feel so unwelcome and like you are a nuisance for even being there. Hope my next experience on my stop by is a lot better.

Got 1 Pint of BBQ it was ok 2 orders of hush puppies . The hush puppies were so hard we could not eat them. I have never had bad food from John Brown's before. I'm Shook ! 😒 They are getting a little Rude!!

Had the burger and fries and they were good. Can get packed at times. Great food, but if you're in a hurry during the middle of the day, plan on 15 to 20 minutes waiting for food.

Out and about with mom and sister. This is a neat little store out in the country on outskirts of King. They have great pimento cheese and chicken salad. I had the 2 hot dog combo today, very good. Check it out, if you are ever up this way!

They now have family meals like meatloaf, chicken pie, mashed potatoes, green beans, mac n cheese. They truly have lots of stuff. Anything you need for a cookout. They make their own slaw, chili, and pimento cheese, have lots of candy and snacks, Homegrown tomatoes. They make the best wings and pizzas.

Unintentional Therapy... I Stopped by this Gem in the Middle of the Countryside a few years ago right before the Pandemic Craziness started and have been wanting to head back that way. Talk about a great combo of Store and Grill. I absolutely loved every minute of my visit and needed it. I had started out just driving and listening to some George Strait trying to clear my head. Rather down and full of emotions of things. It was a dreary fall day with cold intermittent rain. As I wound through the country I saw Deer and Turkey out in the beautiful scenery. Next thing I see is a charming place with a full parking lot. I needed to take a break and stretch my legs. I entered and though very busy at the time, I was greeted at the door with a smile and Welcome to John Browns. I wondered around looking at the endless goodies and eventually after seeing the many patrons ordering plate after plate, Not to mention the aroma of fresh grilled food. I decided to order a plate. I ordered the Pulled pork with Fries and Hushpuppies. It was quick and before I knew it, I was out in the truck digging in. I wish I had the Pictures I took that evening, but it was delicious. Everything soothed my soul for a moment. My troubles were void. The pain and sadness I had just minuets before were nearly gone. I may have been emotionally eating, but it was therapy for my soul for a moment. The whole experience that was. The BBQ was perfect, Fries, Perfect, and The Hushpuppies... Oh my. After I had eaten that wonderful plate, I took back to my travels. But with a feeling of joy and a full belly. I plan to visit again soon.
