Was much different than the Korean BBQ places I've been at in the past. Typically, they are all you can eat but this is not that way. Also, it cooks in front of you but the staff wanted to do the cooking and did not let me do it. Just a different experience than expected.

Very fresh and tasty! 🫶😘 Ordered the k-fried chicken last night with the sweet and spicy dipping sauce. It was awesome, hot and cold.

I guess it was okay !? We had beef bi bim bap which didn't have annny taste! We didn't like it. Shrimp and beef teriyaki was good I had kim chi bi bim bap which was okay I guess (!?) At least it had some taste.

An okay place - limited gluten free options but still a few gluten free items in the menu so I was still able to eat something. Minimal ambiance and no non alcoholic drinks offered. An okay place for a quick bite but food was only okay and the service/atmosphere left a lot to be desired.

Always a joy coming here. The food has never disappointed and the staff members are efficient, kind, and helpful. Truly delicious and pretty authentic Korean food with an extensive menu. I no longer live in Baltimore but bring friends or take trips just to come to Jong Kak. The food and service are that special to me. This place is a gem that is full of fond memories.

Hit or miss when it comes to food and service but I keep coming back

First time trying this restaurant and it was delicious! The flavors in each dish I had were very good. I ordered the hot pot with chicken and I also ordered what I believe are fried dumplings as an appetizer. The dumplings were quite delicious.

They have very good food, but not every table can do BBQ. However, the non-bbq options are still good! I really liked the fried chicken appetizer! Also, the portions are large; my friend described his as 'intimidating', lol. There was a mistake with ordering, but it was understandable, and they were quick to fix it.

Portion sizes are good considering the prices. The bibimbap had the perfect rice crust at the bottom (if you know you know) and the kalbi tang is a must-try; the bone broth is SO savory and perfect for a chilly, rainy day. I wasn't a huge fan of the banchan here and they served less than usual (literally 3 leaves of kimchi). The makkeolli was sweet and refreshing and enough to share.

I had an incredible experience at Jongkak! The service was beyond excellent, with attentive staff ensuring perfect dining experience. Not only was the service top-notch, but the food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was bursting with flavor, especially loved the steamed egg and all the side dishes that comes with it. The charcoal grilling experience added an extra level of enjoyment to the meal. It was amazing to be able to grill our own food right at the table, creating a fun and interactive dining atmosphere. Overall, Jongkak exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious food, impeccable service, and a unique dining experience.

Whenever I’m near Baltimore, I yearn to return to this simple space filled with fantastic food. It had been a few years, but this weekend I finally did, a little nervous that my expectations might be loftier than the whisps of tabletop charcoal smoke could reach. To quote every positive Delco restaurant review (my home county), Jong Kak “did not disappoint”. In fact, I was downright giddy as we ordered our dishes: pork bulgogi, marinated beef kalbi, seafood scallion pancake, chicken bibimbap in a stone bowl and extra kimchi, doenjang and gochujang with a cold Sapporo. The food was fantastic from the banchan to the BBQ. My faves this day were the pork bulgogi, seafood pancake and steamed egg. The service is friendly and comfortable and always smiling and ready to answer any questions. In fact they taught me to make Soonjang: a mixture of the two sauces above! I left full, happy and with a new outlook on life.

I ordered to go, so I don't know if the service is good or not, but when I went in the atmosphere was really chill. I ordered dumplings and a sprite. You really get your money's worth with the dumplings.

We had a wonderful birthday celebration. This is our second time with a big birthday group there and they make it as seamless and enjoyable as can be. Delicious food and drinks all at a reasonable price with quick and friendly service.

Food was good but the service was very slow and disappointing. I guess the only good thing from the place was the bbq. We had to wait long to order, to have water refill, bbq sauce, and extra bowl for our soup.. so, did we like the food? Yes. Do we wanna go back? Hmm

I hate to leave only 3 stars, I normally love this place. But last time I went, I got food poisoning from their (probably less frequently ordered) teriyaki chicken. I just hope they check the expiration dates of all the ingredients they're using.

I came here to celebrate my birthday and my recent obsession with K Dramas and the food did not disappoint! It felt like I discovered a little hole in the wall. The service was warm and welcoming and they took their time to explain how things go with Korean bbq for a first timer like me. My friends and I enjoyed soju (bomb!), the chicken, beef, and pork bbq mix (bomb!), and I got Jajangmeon 🤯. The prices were very affortable and the atmosphere was lively but not chaotic. They even had available parking for guests which is like a dream come true in Baltimore. Definitely will be coming here again!

Great food and fun experience! Be sure to check out the private karaoke rooms upstairs. The dining space is a little smokey though. Memorable night out!

The food is still good but went recently and the service was really really really slow. We waited over 30 minutes before someone took our orders and refills on water were non-existent. There is a card on the table that says customers should be more responsible for cooking but the server came to say they were going to cook which gave a sense of awkwardness and unclarity.

This is my favorite place to go for Korean BBQ. What makes this restaurant stand out from the rest is the charcoal grill. The taste you get from that compared to the gas burning grills does not compare.

Slightly sketchy area, (and I say that from living in a 2 mile radius from this place for the last 8 years.) Besides that, the food was amazing. Went with a half bbq #3 for 2 people. The amount of meat and 11 types of sides, soup and boiled egg just absolutely stuffed us both and it was pretty damn delicious to!

I occasionally order the bulgogi and spicy pork and the taste has gone down. Sometimes it has a funny taste to it and or isn’t the same from the last as if they have a new chef who adds too much of a certain ingredient and it overpowers the whole dish. Idk but my family has came here for years mostly take-out and the taste has changed and smaller portions. Everytime I have ordered within 2023 something was off or missing my extra rice I paid for. Discouraging especially when your spending atleast $50

Wow the price for food here is outrageous expensive! The food isn’t even all that good other than the Korean BBQ ! Only reason the Korean BBQ is good is because they cook it on open fire other than that all other food is mediocre nothing special with Michelin star prices. Unless ur getting Korean BBQ I wouldn’t go here ! Hmart or lotte food market or food court has same food at half the price. Just to give u an example kimchi soup here is 17 dollars before tax and tip ! At food market it’s 8-9 bucks ! It’s insane they are charging that much ! Straight robbery !

Whenever I am in Baltimore, I eat here. My then-boyfriend-now-hubby found this place for our first day trip to Baltimore, and we went at least 6 times in the last 2 years. It is so far the only place in the DMV area we know that uses actual coal to grill your meat. And omg, they always make it perfect! For Korean dishes, they are also pretty authentic as well. The area around it may not be the best, but for the quality and taste of the food that these guys provide, we keep on returning.

My food was ready pretty quickly. I ordered pork dumplings and moved them. Parking was hard to find. There is paid street parking on that very street but most spots were taken. The place was not too crowded but I had to signal waiters to get their attention.

I ADORE this place, I always come for the Korean BBQ! I think this was my 5th time coming here. It is always always delicious and i always eat more than i thought i could haha i have gotten both the beef combo(Combo #2) and the pork combo(Combo #3) they’re both DELICIOUS. I love all the little side dishes that come with the BBQ meats, especially the kimchi and the egg. And i like the little yogurt drinks they give you at the end they’re fruity. They have really good Soju here too and the upstairs bar is small but very nice. Haven’t done the Karaoke yet but i intend to ASAP haha the photos here are from several different visits. Just plan on spending a lot more if you have a bunch of people with you and plan on sharing everything haha

Highly recommended for locals and Koreans traveling to Baltimore who want to experience authentic Korean-style barbecue. This place will provide you and your friends/family with the best taste and experience. I still think about the food at Jong Kak, a Korean restaurant I happened to visit during a family trip to the eastern United States, even after returning home. During my trip to the U.S., it was the only place where I could grill meat the Korean way on a charcoal grill at the table, so I was able to eat delicious pork belly and Kalbi with the flavor of charcoal, and the soju I drank with it helped relieve the fatigue of the trip. The meal ended with cold buckwheat noodles and bibimbap, which were also better in taste, quantity, and appearance than at restaurants in Korea.

Delicious food, generous with banchan, high quality meat. And they use charcoal not gas. The service was excellent, too. No wait times for a Friday around 5pm. My only complaint is that once the place fills up and the whole room is doing bbq it gets smokey and a little hard to breathe but otherwise, it was good. The on site parking lot is nice but will fill up fast around dinner Fri/Sat, but just practice common sense safety for parking around the neighborhood.

I got the tteokbokki it was sweet in a weird way not spicy at all.. kinda disappointing. I got it to go and the staff were very nice and fast when getting me my order

Jong Kak, a restaurant that has captured my heart. The proprietors and staff consistently extend warm and friendly hospitality to patrons, often treating us to delectable Banchan, showcasing the authenticity of Korean cuisine. During my visit, I savored the exquisite flavors of Kalbi, Prime Beef Rib, and Jab Chae, the Korean fried Noodle. Without a doubt, these dishes rank among the most delicious I have ever tasted. Being a student at Johns Hopkins University, I find it incredibly convenient to reach this establishment via the Hopkins Night Ride service. In my estimation, Jong Kak deserves an outstanding rating of 1000 stars! My heartfelt thanks to Jong Kak for their exceptional dining experience.

This is one of those places I always take visiting guests. The charcoal grill at the table really sets this place apart. They will come around and cook the meat in front of you in the correct order - of course you are also more than welcome to tackle it yourself. The accompaniments are delicious and the perfect amount of food.

I went to Jong Kak maybe a little over 10 years ago with a friend. It was one of the most interesting and enjoyable dinner and restaurant experiences I have had. Very cozy atmosphere. The female that owned the restaurant was such a wonderful hostess to my small group of friends. She was wonderfully personable so much so that my friend had become fast friends with her, as well as her children who occasioned to work there. Family run and super cozy and enjoyable atmosphere.

I pick Uber Eats And Doordash From This Place Often. Always Professional And Courteous.

Food is good and authentic. It is in the hood across the street from the projects so be careful at night. Don’t walk around there at night!

I just got my lunch from them and I was like it better to be super good for what I paid lol!! The amount was crazy and it will be my dinner too!! The taste is AMAZING!! Thank you so much Chef!!

*HIDDEN GEM* This is STILL my favorite Korean BBQ place, and I've lived in 4 different cities now. I plan trips back to Baltimore just because I miss this place. (1) they use actual *CHARCOAL* at the tables, which is delicious and rare; (2) their *BANCHAN* are excellent, and they always have plenty, when other restaurants are skimpy; (3) everything is delicious, and I adore the staff that owns it; and (4) they have the best *SSAMJANG* I've had in my life. (When I moved, I bought a tub of ssamjang to take with me. I've tried several brands and several restaurants, and I still can't find ssamjang as good as theirs. They make their own ssamjang in a multi-day process.) Everything is absolutely delicious. And the service is good. IF ANYONE COMPLAINS ABOUT THE SERVICE AT A KOREAN RESTAURANT: I know sometimes people want super cheery wait staff, but that's more of an American thing. The staff isn't rude at all. They just don't have the culture in Korea of wait staff trying to buddy-buddy up like your friend. And even with that "stereotype" of "rude service", I've actually found them very friendly anyway, and very accommodating. Can't say enough good things. I miss this place.

Food was excellent. I'd go 9 out of 10. Service was very good as well. Atmosphere, etc....well, the place is quite run-down inside and out and could be cleaner. But if you can look past that, you'll have a great meal!

Unbelievable. If you are in town for a conference, staying at Baltimore Hilton, or any of the other inner harbor hotels, go to the best Korean barbecue in the world. Charcoal tables, cook tables, grill tables, Korean bbq barbecue, Korean bbq what ever you want it doesn’t matter they have it. Amazing- I will definitely be back!!! Everyone was perfect- the ladies in the picture were top notch. Geonbae!!!

So good! We all got bibimbap and I thought it was a little pricey initially but it came a bunch of side dishes which were all DELICIOUS. The squid bibimbap was delicious with just the right amount of spice. Tofu bibimbap with egg was amazing and they brought gochujang for us since we wanted to add spice. The staff were super helpful and kind all throughout the night. Nice decor inside too! Super clean.

Unexpectedly the karaoke upstairs turned out to be the highlight of the night

First time trying this place through Doordash. At the top where the chopsticks are is burnt rice. I was trying to mix everything and the rice was stuck to the aluminum foil. Doordash has excellent customer service and refunded my money. People will try to feed you anything if you let them. Who does this?

Severely disappointed in this place. It has been my favorite KBBQ place for years but the service just keeps getting worse and worse. To be fair their meat quality is fantastic, but we walked away feeling like we wasted our money. Our meat sat in front of us (cold) for about 15 minutes before they brought out a grill. Our steamed egg and soy bean paste stew (which were requested at the time that we ordered entrées) arrived 20 minutes after our meat had already been cooked. The rice was delivered immediately upon ordering so it was cold well before the meat was done cooking. For a party of 4, they gave us very small portions. For example - the kimchi they brought out had 3 pieces in the dish. This establishment will no longer be getting our money.

A place to eat Korean food with BBQ available. We ordered spicy buckwheat noodles and bbq. The noodles were spicy, literally, and unfortunately the bbq was not as good as we expect. It's not half bad, but doesn't worth the price tag. Menus other than the bbqs are worth to try though.

A GRAND TIME! A group of four headed to this spot after an art show we attended about 15mins away. We arrived close to 11pm. They asked if we were doing BBQ and immediately seated at a grill table in the back. Pak was our waiter and was amazing on the grill and telling us what ti mix. We did combo 1 which was more than enough food for the 4 of us. We laughed and ate til our stomach couldn't take it. Would definitely return when I'm in the area especially finding out there is a karaoke bar upstairs. Only thing is you have to order carryout instead of getting the grill experience.

I've actually only been here about 3-4 times doing doordash. I can tell the food is delicious, they are always packed. They have a great amount of employees and are all always nice. I would love to try the food, I will one day!

Absolutely delicious; we treated ourselves to some items on the barbeque menu (bulgogi and brisket, both delicious) and some "spicy buckwheat noodles" which were absolutely delicious.

I had hot Bi Bim Bap with seafood. The crisp rice was crunchy. The Kimchi was remarkable.

Food was nicely seasoned and the employees were so nice. They helped us learn the different types of dishes they had and gave us good suggestions on getting the lettuce to make a wrap.

I really wanted to like this place. Friends from Pa came down and were in Baltimore so we met them there. It has been decades since we have been at this restaurant. And it really has potential, just need some things to improve upon. The service was decent but they could have been a little bit more attentive in terms of water. This place is known for its wood fire brick grill at the table so this is a bit different than the usual gas grill tables. There are so many different Korean bbq's around and the meats are mostly similar. They don't marinate the meats too much, if at all. The flavor is added with the variety of sauces at the table. And this is where they need to up their game. The amount of sauces that came out were really small so need to keep asking. Also the banchan portions were quite small and somewhat bland. There were no seasoned thinly sliced scallions, not any sliced garlic and peppers. For 4 people, we received about 4 lettuce leaves so we had to keep asking for more. Indeed, it is these accoutrements that differentiate a good bbq from the others. I mean I can cook these at home much cheaper and have a lot more of what we enjoy. But once in awhile, it is the ambiance and camaraderie with friends over some soju that you want to enjoy without all the cooking and the cleaning. So I hope this reaches the owner and he/she takes it positively as a suggestion on improving what they have.

My friends and I went in for dinner. We were a party of three they tried charging us 20 percent for service charge with little to no service.

The food was OK. I ordered monkfish stew and it was nicely made. But.small side dishes including kimchi were mediocre. A fly bug was circulating in the air. I do not feel so sanitary.

The food was prepared extremely well and the service was fantastic. As soon as one meat was done, it was cut and the next meat was started. All of the sides were well very done. Will certainly go back when I'm in town

The food was acceptable but the service was not professional at all. The charged food come so quickly & side dishes are at the last priority. We found some other tables are served with vegetable named SangChoo & asked why it was not served for us. They never say ‘Sorry, I will bring some for you’. Instead ‘It will be served if you ask’. They never say sorry only all kinds of excuses. I strongly recommend to Koreans’Try not to be there’ - Why feel so bad for that terrible service that I pay? 왠만하면 가지마시길 바랍니다. 외국인들 상대로 장사 잘하라고 하지요. 다시는 안갑니다.

the food was great and the employees were respectful. even though the outside looks dirty, the inside is quite clean. i ordered a rice cake soup, and it was salty and delicious. wonderful experience overall

I only give Jong Kak 3 stars because although the food was good, their service is horrible. I called my order in, and came in 30 minutes later to pick it up. I walk up to the front desk area. One guy is behind the desk and he ignores me. 2 other workers walk by and don't say a word. At least acknowledge I'm there. Finally after waiting nearly 10 minutes I got to pick up my food and pay. Customer service is just as important as food quality.

The food is delicious and the service is good. The prices are a little high, even before inflation started. But the food is worth the high price, I think. It’s nice that they are still open later in the night for night owls and young people who are hanging out with friends late at night.

Only Korean restaurant I’ve found in the DMV that actually has fish cakes, I love them. Got Kalbi Beef bbq, delicious as well.
