Tried them for the first time! A winner! Wish I would dined in because the drive back to Broussard may have allowed the food to not be as hot as I like but it was delicious! A must try if you haven’t!

I went to the Johnston Street location TODAY for the very first time. I met the sweetest man there, Mr. Mike could not have been any nicer. And back he wanted me to sample everything there was. I shouldn’t have bought anything because he loaded me up with so many samples, I’ll have a hard time just eating that. I must admit, though that I did not care for the boudin balls at all. But I don’t want to put that in a review—I would rather talk to them about that. ( if you would like me to talk to you about it, send me a message and I can send you my telephone number) I definitely will not let that hamper the thought of my first visit. The pork rib knuckles were really good. I had never heard of the fried pork ribs knuckles before. The girl that checked me out was amazing. I asked her for a sample of the Cracklin. She probably gave me 10 pieces. I told her a sample is usually one and she said they like to be generous. Mr. Mike said that he wanted to make sure that was greatto be that I’ll be back💙💙. Well Mr. Mike, you can bet I will definitely be back. I could not get over the friendliness and helpfulness of everyone. They truly make you feel like family from the moment you walk in the door. Thank you, Mr. Mike and your wonderful staff. I will certainly see you soon. I haven’t had a chance to try everything yet, but maybe I can write a second review once I do. Have a blessed day.

Went with my husband and daughter on Father's Day, bought some delicious sausage and boudin and while I waited for my husband to return from grabbing his wallet from the car they gave my babygirl a little bag of chicken crackling which she looooooooooooooved... very nice and personable staff!!! Definitely will be back!!!

Second we are there, and we were disappointed. The daily plate lunch was smothered chicken. The chicken was not hot, and it was undercooked, the seasoning was bland. We were very disappointed. If you are going to eat there, buy their ribs, they are perfect!

Tried Kartchner's for the first time today while in Lafayette and looking for some Sunday BBQ. We got here around noon and all they had left was the pork steak so we got that, plus a link of regular pork boudin, 1/2 lb of pork cracklings to try and they recommend their rib bites so we got 5 of those. To say the BBQ was good would be an understatement, it was pretty fantastic! The pork steak was giant, very tender, had a good smoky flavor without being overly smokey, the BBQ sauce on it was perfect too. As for the sides we received potato salad, BBQ beans and rice dressing, I can easily say this was one of the few places we've been too where all the sides were just as delicious as the BBQ meat, they were similar to what I'd cook at home, nothing "fancy" which was perfect! The rice dressing was very moist and flavorful, the potato salad was creamy and the BBQ beans had the perfect ratio of sweet to seasoned and slightly spicy, it mixed with the potato salad absolutely perfectly! The boudin was really good although maybe a tad bit salty but had a good seasoning and was slightly spicy. The rib bites were well seasoned too and although they took were somewhat salty they were delicious! For sure one of the best Sunday BBQ places in Lafayette! I'll be sure to get here earlier next Sunday so I can try their other BBQ offerings 👍🏽👍🏽

5/30/24 We came here for the first time. My dad enjoyed his salted cracklin' and plate lunch. Kartchner's has a great flavor to their food. It may be a little bit more saltier than one would anticipate, but everything is simmered down so well in the gravy...that you can get over it. Lol I anticipate trying other plate lunches here. I'm glad they're in Lafayette, too. Oh, the guy that was our tender at the window was awesome--good customer service.

A hidden gem. Fried ribs are my new favorite thing to eat. Gotta go there, and the bouidin is unbelievably great.

My son and I were traveling back to GA from our hometown of Lake Charles. We stopped in, looked around and decided to buy a few things. In total between us it was over $700.00. My comment is cut back on the amount of salt you use, and cut out using MSG. What are the health benefits verses the disadvantages, look it up. I was very disappointed in the Alligator Sauce Picaunte, it should have been label Sausage Sauce Picaunte with a couple of pieces of Alligator. But ya got a nice new building though.

Whenever we're pass through both ways going out of state and coming back home... we always stop for their pepper jack cheese boudin balls, original boudin balls, crackins, and specialty stuff meats. It's meats for days and the price is very reasonable and also their daily specials.

Came out to Kartchner’s to try out their jalapeño Cream Cheese Boudin Balls. It was absolutely worth it. This is the best Boudin Ball I’ve ever had. I also was able to find some delicious premade corn maque choux and stuffed chicken. You must stop in to try their foods you will not be disappointed! 🍖🍗

Stopped in on a whim.. oh wow.. the boudin was VERY good.. and I liked that I could get different ways.. as an egg roll.. meat pie.. boudin ball. I definitely recommend the chicken cracklins!

Over the last few days we have had the opportunity to try alot of boudin and other Louisiana favorites while in Lafayette. We were suggested to try Kartchner's by a local...and GLAD WE WENT. We tried pretty much everything they had. Pepper jack boudain balls- Boudin balls- Chicken cracklins- Pork cracklins- Meat pie (slightly bland in my opinion compared to everything else). Boudin Smoked boudin-(had a smooth smokey flavor). Rib tips...I do not like dry rubs...but geez these things are great ..and..my favorite..CRAWFISH BALLS!! I was expecting semi bland fried balls...I was VERY wrong. These things have tons of flavor, great spice and loaded with crawfish. If I HAD to chose 3 items it would be difficult, but the must orders are the crawfish balls, smoked boudin and the Rib tips...but you can't go wrong with anything. This location also has a store, complete with a variety of all of the meats, seasonings, and utensils you could ever want or need. The staff was super pleasant and helpful. They provided great recommendations and made the experience that much better.

Having grown up in the Ville Platte area attending boucherie, I tend to have a pretty selective pallet for Cajun specialty meats. After having tried dozens of locations, this is one of only a few stores that I buy boudin, cracklings, and tasso from locally. While their items have deviated from the classical style I favor, if you order something traditional it is far closer to what your great grandparents living out in the country would have made than other places in the area. A little lighter on the liver but many people today don't like liver as much so that makes sense. While the atmosphere is closer to a gas station quick mart than a restaurant, most places you are buying boudin from are. They are in a near perfect location to to be available from most of Lafayette, though traffic is a little hectic at luck time.

Well I couldn't get that famous burger I wanted but I did settle for the fried ribs and chili dog.

Went there this morning ( this is the third chance I have given them) I actually like the boudin. I ordered two pepper jack balls, one pepper jack roll up and a link. I live less than five minutes away. The roll up was chewy, not crispy at all. It tasted old. Same with the balls. Now either the oil is old and they refuse to change it on a regular basis or they are serving old product. Either is unacceptable, this is why I will not be going back. Fix the issue and you’ll have a loyal customer or continue doing whatever it is you do at this location and you’ve lost one. Word of mouth spreads fast, and believe me I will be telling everyone that I know.

Food is always great. Everyone who works here is friendly.

Omg this place is amazing, my Bro n Law took me here 1 time 2 yrs ago. I bought this seasoning from Benoits Best, better than Tonys in my opinion. Also found a Chocolate Sugar that im trying out. I Been craving coming back, this time i bought 4 bottle of seasonings. Def recommended if you want good ole Louisiana love cooked food as they have a HOT BAR MEALS. Also they have a wide variety of meats like Venison, Duck, Pork, etc ... 15 out of 10. Ill be back soon to buy more !!!

Staff are all extremely respectful and kind, I am always happy with the environment there. I’ve been here twice, had their chili dogs and pepper jack boudin balls and I love the food! PLEASE go try the pepper jack boudin ball here!

Y'all. The list of things to try here is ENDLESS. TRY EVEYRHING! Seriously you can't go wrong. My favorites so far: maple wrap, boudin balls, smoked boudin, brown sugar steen syrup sausage, chicken balls, cornbread stuffed pork chop (this one is *incredible*) don't hesitate to go out of your way for Kartchners!!

Great stuffed pork loins wrapped in bacon. I also get the stuffed potatoes. Of course, le boudin bon too!

Not as big as the one in Scott, but still has a great selection and good food.

Delicious Boudin Rollups. I love their maple rollups and chicken cracklins. Their pepperjack boudin balls and wraps are pretty good too but they shine with their cream cheese and japeleno boudin balls and maple wraps are unique. They have surprisingly good burgers as well and chili dogs. Plus they have great deer boudin and cornbread dressing to purchase and take home and cook. I'm looking forward to buying more things from their fridge because they have an impressive selection and everything so far has been 10/10.

If you're looking for authentic cajun baudin and cracklings, you find it here. Fried pig fat might give you a heart attack. BUT YOU WILL DIE HAPPY 😊

Got the plate lunch on Thursday (smothered beef) and it was delicious! Although I'm not originally from Louisiana, my boyfriend is and he was very impressed and compared it to a home cooked meal. We're excited to go back and add Kartchner's to our regular rotation of take out options.

This place is very nice and clean! The food is scrumptious! We drove all the way from Cleveland and Indiana just for the boudin wraps alone!!

The pork steaks were dry no flavor to them. The staff was very friendly.

We've probably been there a dozen times and I usually try to get something different. The food and service has been consistently excellent.

Might want to revise your store hours on your website. Your website says opens at 7am but when someone pulls in at 7:05 and your employees tell them y’all don’t open till 8am on weekends. Definitely wasted trip going off what the times the website said.

Great place to shop for Cajun specialty meats, smoked sausages, boudin and all things Cajun including roux, quail eggs, spices, fried ribs, boudin balls and egg rolls, chicken balls stuffed w pepper jack cheese, etc. Package liquor and desserts available. Polite, well trained, helpful, attractive staff makes shopping here a joy. A great one stop shop conveniently located in the middle of Johnston St in Lafayette LA.
