The food was amazing, and so was the show, I wish they had name tags because the guy cooking was so fun, but it was definitely weird because there were a ton of open tables, and they sat a group right next to us. Like actually in the chair next to us, and thankfully, they were nice, but it would ruin the experience if they were rude, so I think it's just bad planning to put 2 groups at one table

The Chef did his show.. was more interested in tossing our vegetables to the table sitting behind us. Poor kid had 12 pieces of zucchini smacked to him. Never caught a one. Seemed odd to toss our food to another table 😆 Rice was mush, the steak as advertised was ribeye. Sold steaks for years. It was a low grade sirloin. Tough and cooked horribly.

The food here is AMAZING. I doordashed my first meal from here (the chicken udon) and it was to die for so I came with a friend. No. Regrets. Not only is the lunch menu super affordable for a higher-end restaurant but the portion sizes are huge. 100% would recommend this place to anyone who likes Japanese cuisine

You have to go to Kobe! Because it is the best restaurant ever. The inside you can be near the fire and flip the egg. Drinks and the Mexican juice. I think Kobe is the best restaurant ever! And the chicken tenders are the best. They are crispy and you can use chopsticks. You need to go to Kobe!

Everything was great until we left. I was charged $324 including a $46 “%18” tip. What I ordered was…..1 chicken meal-$23.50, 2 kids shrimp meal- $18.95 each, 2 adult shrimp meal- $25.50. 4 ribeye steak & shrimp meals-$32. $240+18% tip $43.30= $283.70. That is a $40.30 difference. When I called and asked the manager responded with “you were giving a receipt prior to leaving I can give u an $8 credit since that is the only difference they see” Do the math where did the rest of my money go to then.

It's a Japanese restaurant that tries to serve many kinds of food...this is a mistake. The sushi was excellent, but the rest was AWFUL! I ordered chicken. It came on a bed of yellow corn. It was completely inedible; a horrible steam piece of chicken brest. Ugh. Gross. I sent it back. The whole time we were there they played irish music...completely inapproriate, the same song over and over. No soothing japenese music in the background. Crazy music in the "forground", at in your face volume. They should just serve what they do best. Japanese food, and stop the crazy irish music. Wierd.

Beyond the fact that it’s my birthday, and the restaurant is aware, they have served my boyfriend his hibachi steak and I have been waiting for an hour for my sushi order. I had to flag down the server to order a drink and we have largely been ignored since 6:30. It’s 8:11. I’ve never had such bad service here before. Happy birthday to me! You suck

Amazing everytime we go! Amazing food and service. We were not rushed even though we were the last ones to leave 20 mins after closing. A little pricey but always well worth it for the prices. I always take home leftovers enough for another meal (or 2!) Update 2024. This is still a family favorite and the Chef was fantastic with our five yr old. Had him laughing in fits. Our son wouldn't leave without giving him a hug!

IT WAS HORRID! The lobster had black dots and mushy, the steaks weren’t cooked properly to the specs of my family, the crab Rangoon was nothing but cream cheese…and the chef at the table was sooooo loud and obnoxious it was AWFUL. LOUD and HOT! We went to eat around 3 pm and we placed at a table with 7 other adults so there was no elbow room. The waiter was great, he was very attentive and did a great job. The chef was OVER THE TOP, yelling loudly. He said " hello" 8 times until people responded how he wanted, loudly. He tried to flick food into peoples mouth and when they missed he flipped more zucchini at them , there was a bunch on the floor after we left. The food was good, hot and plentiful. Beside the chef being overly loud, he held up a tip cup after and expected people to put money in the cup ( which we did) but really??? a tip cup? I think there should be a sign that says " feel free to tip your chef for a good job" if it is expected.

Overall it was okay. The fillet mignon was yummy, but it was a small amount... the salmon was such a tiny piece. Disappointing really. $9 for a side of noodles which wasn't even a lot was wild. The amount all around was small in my opinion. My family was overall disappointed and it took a lot to leave a reasonable tip considering the waiter really didn't do much for us and the chef almost hit my husband with a spatula that went flying... my husband handed it back to him and he continued to use it without even cleaning it! Was not very happy overall.

We had a Reservation for 5pm, and were seated. Didn't actually eat until 7pm. I went to front reception area at 6pm and was told that an hour and a half wait after being seated was normal on a Saturday night. Our waitress came once in that time to our table. Will not be going again.

Went there on Saturday, January 27th for a birthday celebration. Myself and a lady at the table across from us both found glass in our salads. I alerted our chef, he took the piece of glass off my finger, and stepped away. When he came back it was like nothing happened at all. No apology, no acknowledgement by him or anyone else, he just went right back to cooking the meals. I sent an email to kobe Bangor when I got home that evening and have not heard anything back from that as well. Very poor customer service in my opinion.

We were greeted poorly. We were directed to a seating area over a tile floor that was still being wet mopped. I walked slowly but slipped in hiking shoes. The woman seating us and the woman mopping had very long hair and it was not tied up at all. Waiter brought cold tea, we asked for it to be heated, it came back warm. It was a snowy day the end of January. My husband waited awhile for his drink, twice. Our waiter was sloppy looking. Our first appetizer..steamed dumplings came out warm-cold and quickly. Again we mentioned it but our waiter did nothing to fix it. 2nd appetizer and Ramen soup were hot and delicious. It was the start of lunch and only 3 tables in the whole place. We had to ask for napkins. Questions we asked about the dishes were not answered. The check a $110.00 came quickly and we paid, left, will not return.

My family had lunch here and was disappointed. I ordered spinach and tofu soup. The soup came out with lettuce instead of spinach. Interesting consistency to say the least. The server avoided us the entire time I had the soup. I made a note of this and was still charged full price almost 7 dollars for a soup missing half of its ingredients. My significant other ordered the Out of Control roll which plated beautifully but lacked flavor. The Alaska Beauty roll was tasty and saved the entire lunch experience.

Alright here we go, this might be a long one. First off me and my wife are huge Kobe steak house Lovers. I've been to so many that I've lost count. From maine to Florida. Saturday January 15th we went to Kobe with our two friends from Mass that were visiting bar harbor. Had a reservation, waited 20 minutes, got in and sat down on the hibachi in the far left front of the building if you were standing outside in front of the building. Right away we notice that something feels off, we are unusually cold.. As time goes on everyone around us is complaining/joking about how cold it is. Unbelievably cold, you can see your breath as you breathe kind of cold. It was so cold that EVERYONE HAD ON THEIR WINTER COATS AND HATS. I had two jackets on and my winter hat. IT WAS SO COLD THAT OVER HALF THE TABLE went to wait on the warm side of the restaurant by the bar waiting area. They took so long that half of our people at our section left. 6 people! They could'nt handle the cold or the ridiculous wait time.On top of it being FREEZING, we waited over an HOUR for our cook to arrive. With that being said he was AMAZING. He made it all worth while. He received almost $70 in tips which I have never seen a cook get so much from one show. My food which i usually eat all at once was literally so cold by the time the chicken was cooked. Not to mention our bill was over $350 including tips. The poor servers felt our pain and were so kind it makes my eyes water. They tried to do everything possible to please us because they also had to deal with the cold and saw us struggling. Eating outside would not have been much different... the servers and staff say this has been an issue and the kitchen is also cold. What are the owners doing about this issue? If the hood fans are letting thr cold air in then find a way to fix it. I'll tell you that we will never in our lives forget this experience. I remember going to the other side of the building to the bathroom and was absolutely shocked at hiw warm it was in there. I would have ate in there and been happy. And to top it off the hibachi room by the bathroom was a sauna, all the guests had no jackets and were breaking a sweat while eating! It was literally perfect for them in there which makes no sense. I remember the coldest part of my body being my legs. Even after going into the warm car it took almost to bar harbor to feel normal again after freezing for two 2+ hrs. Yes we could of got up and left but we have more respect than that. Service besides our cook taking an hour or more to come out was a 5 star. Estalishment on this day was a zero star. This issue needs to be fixed! And for the non-believers I posted a pic of me drinking my soup

We normally love Kobe. Frequent date night spot, but my goodness, I'll never come back during a holiday. Service was so rushed we couldn't place our order correctly. Then by the time our food came 40 mins later, we were missing an appetizer, our rice was cold, and the food was rough to say the least. (And if you dislike corn or mung beans I'll warn you against the chicken teriyaki dinner, because there was twice as much of them than chicken) Make sure you never come during any kind of a rush.

Great atmosphere and service and serves Japanese cuisine that rivals some of the nicer venues in Seattle (we were worried we wouldn’t find the same level of food here after we moved). You can either dine in the restaurant proper or get a seat at the grill and watch the showmanship of the chef while they cook your meal. If you want a grill seat, I highly recommend a reservation, even more so if you have a larger party. Also, their Mountain roll is spectacular.

Im visiting Maine & tried this place out. Had a party of 4 and when checking in with the host, she told us to let her know when everyone arrived. That’s all she said. While waiting she asked how much longer they would be because they couldn’t keep holding the table, which already had people sitting there. They said if we could get their order, we could be sat or it was another hour wait. We weren’t ever told that a spot was being held for us. Once being sat, we were next to a table that already had a chef there. Although some people may have thought he was wonderful, and he was, he was a little too much for us. Great with children, but when he would slam the tray down when performing, it was sooo loud it hurt my ears. He was constantly yelling, and started throwing-yes throwing-food at the couple beside me who I could obviously tell did not like it. I ordered the lobster & chicken. Way too salty. Almost no meat in the lobster. My fiancé asked for a side of shrimp, $15?!?! are you kidding me? Way way way too expensive for a SIDE!

They now charge an extra $4 just to get a side of teriyaki, while the teriyaki steak (which was over cooked) barely has any on it at all to start with. Didn’t inform us of that until the food was coming out. They said they’d remove the meal from the bill, but then didn’t & said they couldn’t since we’d eaten some of it (my friend at a piece of the tempura broccoli). Had to ask for a manager who then removed it. This used to be one of our go to restaurants, but not anymore.

It pains me to give these guys a 1 star, but there are multiple reasons why their score has dropped so much in my opinion. First of all, making a reservation means you show up at a certain time, you should be promptly seated within a few minutes of arrival, along with a waiter. That part wasn't too bad, but I am serious when I say, none of us even got a drink of water for over an hour, sitting in front of a 100+ degree stove with no liquids. Ordering came around, and I'm not saying you don't get a lot of food, because you get enormous proportions, somewhat. It's mostly empty carbs from rice and noodles, splashed with salt and more salt, with barely any actual protein for the extreme prices they demand. By the time the actual cook came out with food, we were at least an hour and half or better sitting there baking and sweating profusely. The cook was very friendly and we had a blast once he showed up, but he overcooked my pricey swordfish and it was dry and tasteless. Overall we were there 3 hours total before we even got the full meal, and by that time we were all ready to leave so everyone boxed up their stuff and we left. Only go here when you have deep pockets and a lot of time to kill.

This was a fun experience. The food was good. We had the Hibachi which is where a chef cooks the food in front of you with a little bit of flair. You can also choose to sit down at a table and order from the kitchen. If you choose Hibachi, you sit around a U shaped table, similar to a bar, with the grill in the U. Overall, it is a good and entertaining experience! You'll have plenty to eat!

Came here for the first time this past Saturday with my gal pal (she's been here a few times already). I ordered the chicken and broccoli lunch special I think it was called, tasted amazing and it came with miso soup and a salad so it definitely made the price worth it. We usually have a great experience here but this past trip was absolutely the worst!!! The chef over killed the meal with garlic so that was all u could taste. They forgot my sons steak then split mine and my husbands to cover for it. We ordered medium rare and our steaks were so over done u could barely chew them and they burned everything, with my salmon being so burnt it was basically charcoal. We never complain about food or service but this trip was beyond disappointing and disastrous.

We are traveling from across the country. The service was great, and our cook was amazing. There was SO MUCH food! Plan on a doggy bag. My complaint? Food was over seasoned. There hits a level of over-done and our cook exceeded it. (this may be a regional preference I know). It passed my taste for overpowering spices without concent. Plus, there was an over abundance of food made that had to be thrown away as we are from out of town. How wasteful! But if you're local, I'd highly recommend

Was told we could wait at the bar and have appetizers and a drink but why would I want to spend money there if they’re not willing to spend time with us at the table. And no it wasn’t busy. I worked here and while I really enjoyed the food, I would not go back or recommend it to anyone. The managers don't care about the employees, i was even told that they 'don't care if I have the money to feed my family and pay my rent.' On the other hand I really enjoyed the people who I worked with most of which were very kind and helpful. I heard from a few of them that sometimes the manager would pocket tips from tables though I have no proof of this it wouldn't surprise me considering the way that I was treated while working here. Also checking back after a few years, nothing seems to have changed, aside from the fake reviews that muddy the waters. Beware of who you're supporting.

I brought my daughter to Kobe's for dine-in to celebrate her birthday... and our server Rayanne and the whole team made her feel extra special. My daughter had the Tokyo Monster, while I had a Pork Katsu-Don Donburi Dinner. What I love most about this place is how the meals not only taste amazing, they are also beautiful, like works of art. After thoroughly enjoying our meals, Rayanne surprised with a complimentary ice cream dessert! When my daughter told her with wide eyes how she liked cherries, it touched my heart to see how many of them they lavished on top of her red-bean ice cream bowl. The only thing I would recommend: bring a small flashlight with you. The ambience allowed us to relax and just talk... but it was too dark for me to see the menu. Kobe's of Bangor has earned the title as my daughter's favorite restaurant of all. We hope you will check it out.

The food was great, the cook was engaging and funny. The waitress did good although I asked for a mildly spiced cocktail that was so spicy I couldn't drink it. I asked if she had told the bartender that I wanted it not real spicy and she just said yes and dismissed the fact that I said it was really hot! Another guest on our party that likes spicy food traded drinks with me and he couldn't drink it either. All in all the food and service were good but when ordering a $12 cocktail and $90 of food between 2 people, it should have been corrected.

This place is just amazing. I grew up going to Makotos in Florida. Since then, the Chefs are more interactive. The food is fantastic, atmosphere is traditional, and you get share laughts and excitement at the hibachi tables.

First time trying Kobe today for lunch. Won't be the last. Very nice atmosphere, clean restaurant. Convenient location near the mall. We ordered hot and cold sake while we perused the extensive menu. The restaurant is divided into the hibachi area and the regular restaurant. We decided to order a few rolls after eating our salad (crunchy with plenty of ginger dressing) and miso soup. We shared the Manhattan roll and Incredible roll and both were beautifully presented and delicious. We'll definitely go back. There were so many rolls to choose from, not to mention several Thai dishes, hand rolls, and sashimi. Everything was fresh and so yummy! So happy that we finally tried Kobe. Highly recommend. Updated 7/10: another great lunch. I'm convinced this is the best sushi in the Bangor area. We enjoyed a Manhattan, Alaskan Beauty, Crazy Ninja, and Incredible rolls. All excellent. The food was excellent. The steak was tender, shrimp was perfect, and the lobster was but delish! The noodles and rice were fantastic! The chef was amazing. It was a blast to watch the show and all the tricks with the veggies! He got a good tip! 😉 Just a 411, it was extremely hot in the restaurant (I mean extremely), not just warm. For anyone that comes here, take this into consideration, wear light clothing. I'm just saying. The waitress was unexceptable. She didn't honor our reservation very well. Had an attitude. Then, she stopped helping us all together until another party member, which wasn't even with us, said something to her. The seating can be awkward.
