We had lunch and ate at a table in the bar. The menu is varied with choices for just about any dietary restrictions The cuisine is Venisulan, and cooked to perfection.

My first review of any restaurant but I had to! The perfect find, my boyfriend and I happened upon it on the way home from a fun day out. We consider ourselves lucky in finding special unique spots but this place is not like any other, it truly transports you through its food and its ambience. The service is incredible and personable, you feel so welcome and it feels like home and family. You can truly feel the pride they have in their food through the service and the flavors. I always love the familiar tastes of food I’ve had time and time again, but this was all new and provided comfort in its flavors while expanding your understanding of authentic Venezuelan food. We tried the beef, chicken, and pork arepas, as well as one of the plates where you build your own arepa. It is delicious meat and beans and cheese and sauce and avocado, anything you select, sandwiched within delicious corn pancakes. We never indulge in dessert out but we even had to take a coconut flan to go. Everything down to the drinks and sodas are authentic, I often find that a drink is the same most places you go but here the “Auyantepui” surprises with flavors of tamarind within spiced rum. This isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience. If you want to try something new, this is the place for you. You will feel wrapped up in its warmth instantaneously.

Unfortunely, I didn't get to take photos of the food. Next time I go, I will. Despite having a second to be sat, it was a wonderful name. I also can't remember the man who was serving us either, but they seem super personable and kind. They had a great attitude towards their work and the company. The young man spoke SPANISH and ENGLISH to my friend and I. He beautifully translated the menu, the questions and basically everything to us, transitioning in point tbh. Anyways, the food fantastic, large portions worth the price, I'm surprised to even see the prices that low for such presentation and portion. The passion fruit drink as well waa fantastic. Large menu, fantastic music and staff.

The best experience in Venezuelan food. Being Venezuelan and knowing how to make arepas and cachapas at home, I always go to the arepa for my parties and family gatherings. Orders for more than 25 people, always on time and freshly made. Fresh food. Affordable prices. Top quality. The place is extremely clean. 100% recommended for your parties

Fresh arepas filled with your meat of choice. I always go with the reina pepiada, but the pork one is great as well.

This use to be one of our favorite places to go and eat. The food is amazing and so authentic. However, it is impossible to call and place an order for pick up because nobody answers the phone. You can go there to eat but forget ever trying to call for food to go. Its such a shame because we really enjoy the food and the people that work there. My girlfriend and I loved this place and we work most of the time so carryout is the best option. It also seems like if its the last hour before close they refuse to pick up as it feels like they just want to close up shop. It seems like they close when they want now so disregard the hours posted here online. No longer great service or a great experience and with that we just go elsewhere since we can never order out

I had a take-out order of Cachapas and they were absolutely delicious! The young woman who took my order was very pleasant.

People suck when trying to order over the phone theyre either about to close or tell you they only have certain foods . And theyre in a bad mood and give you attitudes

Buenas tardes, primeramente me sorprendió mucho que no tengan empanadas de Carne Mechada, podría ser la más emblemática de la comida venezolana, y es un poco extraño que tengan de carne molida y no de carne mechada Las arepas son muy muy delgadas, entiendo que así puede resaltar más los sabores, pero no llega a ninguna parte y al menos la de pernil que fue la única que probé, además de faltarle sazón, no tenia buena presentacion, el pernil debe ser en trozos o hilos mas gruesos, parecía Atun en lata Molido, el papelon con limon no parecia ser natural, o si era natural estaba ligado con algo mas, la cachapa no tenia su sabor tradicional, parecia mas una panqueca, pero de todo fue lo mas aceptable porque el cerdo si estaba bien hecho Aunado a eso el servicio no fue el mejor, eramos los unicos clientes en ese momento y la mesera nos atendio como que estuviera Busy, de forma desatenta y muy antipatica, teniendo en cuenta que fuimos 3 personas muy agradables, y que todo lo pedimos con porfavor, gracias y gesto de amabilidad, pareciera que la propina era para nosotros El ambiente si me parece muy bueno y la barra se ve muy agradable.

Estoy embarazada y tenía ese antojo maneje como 30 minutos para llegar al lugar, uff si me imagino no voy un trato orrible la dueña con actitud y ni te pregunta que deseas pague casi 11 dolares por una arepa sola y malaaaaa peor aún no vuelvo jamas

Tried to call ahead three times & nobody picked up at 230 pm. Walked into this open restaurant and sat in the lobby for 10 minutes on a Saturday at 3pm when there was one table of 4 people. No server came to greet, no host, no visible employees. Left and attempted to order takeout and the restaurant never confirmed the order or picked up when I tried to confirm it. Shouldn't open to the public if it's not capable of serving people.

Beautiful experience with Bernardo! He was so pleasant and made wonderful recommendations. Patacones with pork was amazing!!!! Thank you again!

Had to try the Arepa. It was delicious! The margarita was also really good. I can't wait to go back and try more.

Fantastic prices for good food. Very fast service and upbeat attitudes by staff This place is a hidden gem we will be back to. Loved their shrimp and the green cilantro sauce, my favorite. The tomato based sauce was my wife's preference. #RockFromRI

n full transparency, this was my 3rd time here and the two times before the food and drinks were amazing, that is why I gave two stars! This time however, it had me questioning if they were under new management. Because everything was bad. They changed the menu, to words on large pictures which unfortunately made it extremely hard to read the menu because the background is too busy. We wanted to order drinks and an appetizer to start. I ordered a Pina Colada, and my husband ordered a sangria. He didn't like the sangria so he wanted to send it back and order the same drink I had. The waitress paused and looked confused, and then said well I just remembered we don't have any more pina colada syrup...As I am writing this, it has dawned on me that they probably DID still have pina colada. But he ended up just keeping it. Next, we wanted to order the sweet chili wings...THEY DID NOT HAVE THE SWEET CHILLI SAUCE only bbq...Seriously? Who is stocking this place? Next, we wanted to order our main courses, and the waitress was unable to explain to my husband (his 1st time here) what the specials were, what the difference between the arepas were, what came with different dishes, or what anything even tasted like, she kept repeating I don't know what you like... clearly neither does he because he had never been there before. It was a lost cause for him. I however knew I would enjoy my meal. WRONG! The very small arepa seemed to be under cooked on the inside and overcooked on the outside, too crunchy even, like it was flashed cooked and had no flavor what-so-ever. The small amount of shrimp maybe 7 pieces were so tiny and not seasoned well. The only thing that seemed to come out right was the garden salad and all this dissapointment was a whopping $80 bucks. My husband made me pay. NEVER AGAIN! It was empty...I now see why.

The only thing wrong with this place is that more people aren't going there for food. Get your butt to La Arepa and fix that. Truly delicious food and drink, generous portions, great staff, and comfy dining area.

A nice little surprise dinner. Very friendly staff and quick service. The mango juice was delicious not thick and heavy. We had the Arepa con queso and the Arepa con pernil. Both dishes were really good. Only downside is the arepas were on the thin side. We came in hoping to have a walk down memory lane, from our Ny version The Arepa Lady restaurant. Besides them being thin they definitely hit the spot. I recommend this place to my out of towners. La Arepa is decorated very authentically, with beautiful murals on the wall and a light post in the middle of the room with stone flooring, which gives you the feel of sitting in a nice park or even just outside a home native to Venezuela.

The food here was average. Decent portions and flavor. Spent $40 on a patacon, arepa and mango juice.

He was kind, attentive, and efficient. He was the only one waiting all of the tables and did a phenomenal job!! The service was great and quick! My husband and I came here for a quick lunch from Portsmouth, and to say we were impressed is a rude understatement. EVERYTHING was hand crafted and made with love. Beautifully seasoned and executed, we were speechless most of our meal save for when we tried and compared how good it all was. 10/10 have already recommended. 10/10 will absolutely be back.

La Arepa serves the best traditional Venezuelan food, perhaps, in the entire United States. A beautiful restaurant interior with friendly attentive service and the food that they serve is high quality, all natural, fresh ingredients. Lots of tables space for couples, families, you and co-workers or a party...so come enjoy your next delicious meal. They have a nice bar and awesome drinks as well. You deserve great food...so please give them a try, you won't regret it.

The food is delicious and a difficult choice to pick a favorite dish. As long as it includes one of those corn cakes, I am happy! The staff are super friendly, too.

Went for dinner for a delayed birthday celebration. Food was sweet and savory!! My picky eater loves the rice…I know who doesn’t love rice. Did not have a chance to try desserts but guess what there will be a next time. Don’t sleep on La Arepa or you will miss out! Buen provecho 😋 Almost forgot…our waiter was phenomenal. He was the only one and served all the tables!!

La comida rica pero la verdad que se tomen el cargarle a uno más del 25% en tips sin que sea elección del comensal eso me parece un abuso la verdad y que hagan cargos extras en la factura: chash adj: que es eso? No lo eh visto en ningún otro restaurante la ver abusan de la buena voluntad de los comensales

Enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The wait staff were outstanding and very personable. My husband had the stewed chicken arepa with everything. The chicken was so savory, it was delicious. I had the black bean arepa with everything. The plate was balanced so well with the savory beans and the sweet plantains. I cleaned my plate (don't often do that). Highly recommend this restaurant.

Great food and the waiter is always ready to recommend something new to try. All the meats are wonderfully seasoned, food is exceptionally fresh, and the arepas and cachapas are so good. Well appointed dining room with cool WWII posters on the wall in the bar.

This was my first time having Venezuelan food and I can't wait to go back. Everything we ordered was delicious and you can tell it is homemade. We got takeout on this visit because the dining room wasn't open yet, but our next visit will be in house. The man helping us at the counter could not have been any more helpful. He explained what some of the items were and made recommendations based on what we said we liked. We will be back!

Just returned from our 1st visit to this fine restaurant. The décor is enchanting, our wait person was charming and gracious. Last ,but not least, the food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be making a return visit to La Arepa!

La Arepa has been a go to restaurant of mine since at least 2017. The portions are perfectly sized, and the food is to DIE for. Attentive, and kind staff whether you're eating in or taking out. It has been an absolute privilege and pleasure to watch this incredible business grow into the beautiful next door location. Plus it always warms my heart to support a women's owned business!

A discovery! On my daughter’s list of places to try. An alluring menu with an unusual variety of vegetarian choices. But I felt like a burger today, and it was a good one.

Camarones! Just tried these for the first time this week. Absolutely delicious! The shrimp one was my favorite, and I also got the chicken one pictured below. It’s hard to describe what these taste like. It’s just something so different it’s refreshing lol. Unfortunately I did not go and pick these up so I cannot comment on the overall establishment and staff. But I will say if the food taste this good, the staff must be just a great to go along! Would recommend!

Great food. We walked in assuming they were gonna give us a giant plate of food but it was just enough for each of us. Very homey feel. AMAZING waiters. Food is a bit expensive tho so not a place to go if you're not looking to spend at least 35 for 2 people

Our daughter picked up orders of arepas for a family dinner. We had never eaten these corn cakes before (something akin to Mexican tamales, Scandinavian lefsa, and Ethopian injera in taste and consistency. My pulled pork arepa was delicious. Served with a salad of lettuce and slices of tomatoes, onions, and avocados. A wonderful cilantro dressing - - but not enough for the large salad. Tip: order an extra portion of the cilantro dressing.
