Barbacoa borracho tacos were great as a Mexican it's hard to find home style barbacoa and this place is it. Margaritas also on point as well as salsa bar

Drink sizes are insane and I mean that in a good way. Salsa bar is a bonus and the staff super friendly. They also offer a military discount.

La Botana is a favorite of ours. The food and service are always excellent, and the new location is a welcome change. The menu has been expanded to include items like birria. Service is always top-notch (Cesar is the best!). The patio has misters to keep you cool in the heat, and the indoor seating area is spacious and most tables have a good view of the bar TV if you want to watch sports. The salsa bar is fantastic and adds the perfect amount of spices or flavor to your tacos or chips. We always get the parillada with carne asada and the birria, which is more than enough food for two. The two-for-one drinks are an excellent value (and huge!).

Great service Saira was our waitress very kind and knowledgeable about the menu. I had the Casuela Paloma very refreshing alcohol drink. Try it!

The food was amazing! Any of the taco meals are a real highlight! Bere was a wonderful waitress to us and she treated my wife and I very kindly!! Can’t wait to visit again. Was nervous about the new location, but highly recommend!!

I honestly liked the concept of the previous restaurant better. It was more geared towards Mexican or Latino families. Now I feel like it's geared more towards gringos. The food is still very good, thankfully!. My only suggestion is to check out the tostadas for the snack, this time they were a little soft and the waitress couldn't tell the difference between a chelada and a michelada (it's a classic in Mexico). It used to be very easy to order a chelada. I miss the old place!

This is our first time at the new location. Everything is so wonderful! I do miss the charm of the old building, but not the neighborhood where they used to be located. The energy is the same, though! Can't wait until it's cool enough to sit outside on the beautiful patio and have margaritas!

Quaint atmosphere indoors. Garage doors lead to a sweet patio. I ordered tacos. Barbacoa was bland, no flavor and steak was delicious, both very small portions of meat for the price. My favorite was the many choices of salsas to choose from on the salsa bar.

First time at the new location and it is amazing! The food is fantastic. They have large drinks and a small salsa bar. We ordered Carne Asada Fries, a Quesa-birria plate and a Grilled Chicken Percheron burrito … 10/10! Happy to be able to enjoy this restaurant again :)

Went to the new location (used to be at First Avenue/Fort Lowell. Lovely atmosphere. Server immediately brought a purse post (have only seen those in Mexico). We ordered carne asada nachos, and there was plenty, with the chips and salsa, for both of us. Excellent service, great food, and we only paid $16. They have lunch specials M-F 12-2, and then happy hour 2-6. Not sure if happy hour is on weekend too.

We visited La Botana often at their old location at Ft Lowell & 1st Ave, and finally tried their new restaurant on Wetmore, near 1st Ave. Quite an upgrade from the old joint! Cold AC, tasty drinks, delicious food, friendly staff, and an upbeat atmosphere make La Botana a winner. There’s a shady patio, plus lots of options at the salsa bar. We especially like the barbacoa tacos. Try the Family Combo for easy take-out ($37-$39). Be prepared to add 3% extra to your bill if paying with a credit card :(

Great food, service, and atmosphere!

La Botana is open for inside dining. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. I recommend the margaritas which are the size of a fishbowl! The stuffed, roasted peppers were awesome as well.

This was our first time here, we walked in, and it smelled like sewage. The waitress came to the table, and we had a few questions. My husband was asking about drinks other people had because they looked good. I asked about adding chicken to a burrito on the vegetarian menu, and I was told no. "That's why it's on the vegetarian menu." The waitress was not happy with our questions. We asked about the flavors of margaritas, and she wouldn't even point to the menu to show us where the flavors were in tiny little writing. I looked at my husband and told him, "You know what? I think I'm leaving" i can take my hard earned money somewhere else and get better service.

Mario provided amazing and prompt service. Me and my girlfriends went in for happy hour and Mario made sure we were taken care of. Food was perfectly prepared and delicious.

Three friends and I went to get some margaritas and some food. We’ve never been here before. When we walked in, Caesar, one of the servers, was super friendly and helpful I noticed right away. We are all vegan and they have some vegetarian Items on the menu that you can make vegan and they were so accommodating-the whole staff- went above and beyond. The food was delicious. We will definitely be going back soon and telling other people about the wonderful food and service. Thank you Caesar and the other staff there!

Food is either good or great. I would give a full 5-stars if it were more predictable. Drinks are large, but the same way.

First time at the new location, what a great experience! As soon as you walk into the bright, cheerful atmosphere, you know it’s going to be good. Service was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Shared happy hour chimmis and birria tacos. All very flavorful and fresh. The salsa bar was spot on, plentiful and clean. Leyva took care of us, and was great!!

We love love LOVE the new location. This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in all of Tucson and the service is always impeccable. Leyva is a superstar waitress and it’s always wonderful to see Cesar when we come in. He makes sure every guest is having an optimal experience every time.

The server was fine, and the food was good, but I had NO IDEA until I got home and looked at the emailed receipt that they now charge you to pay with a credit card!!! What the hell is that?!?! They never used to do this, and anymore, most places don''t even ACCEPT cash!! And if this is a new policy of theirs, they should TELL people before checking them out, or in the very least, have it stated somewhere where people can see it! They stated after I mentioned this that it is industry-wide, and all restaurants are doing it. I don't think so! Not any of the restaurants I go to. I mean seriously, being a business, you expect to pay credit card fees. That is a given, and you have for decades. Why all of a sudden charge the customer??? You upcharge enough for food and drink as it is!! Not only that, but they also started charging you for more chips!! Again, they have never done this before (and we''ve been frequenting them for years!), and if they do, the server should TELL you!!! Or, once again, have it stated somewhere. It is a very small basket of chips they give you, and they charged us $2 for more chips - TWO DOLLARS!!! It''s about 2 cents worth of chips. I called to discuss this with the manager, and they said they would talk to the owner and get back to me. Do you think I''ve heard back from them?? It''s a shame that they''d rather lose a customer for life than discuss a few dollars. I guess they got too big for their britches with moving to the new place. We will be finding a new Mexican place, sadly.

Such a great atmosphere with pretty decent service during lunch time. I have the same server so maybe it's just her excellency. One item you must try are the quesabirria tacos. They are hands down one of the best taco/quesadilla infusion I've ever tried.
