Que Bueno, our Tapas meal was fantastic. We paired it with the Red wine flight , perfect. We have the charcuterie, the lamb meatball's, the pan con tomate, and potatas bravas! We were two diners and had a small bag to take with us. The space design is pleasing, noise level was good, we sat close to other diners but we were able to converse without interruption. We are planning to return with family in the spring time.

Celebrated a birthday here, and the whole experience was immaculate. Service was prompt, the atmosphere intimate and beautiful, presentation top-notch, and food delicious. We tried a whole bunch of different dishes (even more that pictured here), and everything was wonderful. Their menu rotates pretty regularly, and I found the small plates to be a perfect share-able size for two people. If visiting on a weekend, I would recommend making a reservation.

Always a favorite. Get the patatas bravas every time! I feel like you can’t really go wrong with anything on the menu but we generally go for tapas style and skip the entrees. When I’ve gone for a work dinner with more people and have tried them though they’ve always been excellent. This is definitely a go to date spot with my husband because it’s just everything we want - relaxed, delicious, warm and welcoming.

We came not really knowing what to expect especially since the instagram page of the restaurant was not necessarily updated. Their menu was extremely enticing so we were excited either way. The restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance was everything! Our server was wonderful with explaining everything clearly and was always checking in on us. The food was INCREDIBLE and every single dish blew us away! The beef tartare was to die for and the cheese with dates was life changing. Food came out super quick and smoking hot. The cocktails were fun and balanced. We highly recommend the mandarin basil sorbet for a refreshing end to an amazing meal. We will definitely be back again for another date night!

The food was amazing. I went with my sister and we picked one from each section and shared. I strongly recommend this strategy as it will be hard to pick from all the options. My favorites were anchovies, the Serano Jamon, and the Squid Ink Figueroa. The Jamon was so thinly sliced you could practically see through it. Amazing!

Worth the price of entry. An absolute pleasure. My wife and I selected a random assortment of plates to try a variety of food. We had no idea what anything was, but it didn't matter because everything was perfect. We had a little left to take home as well. With two glasses of the more modestly priced wine, we walked out paying about $90 even (post bonus tip, standard service charge is included in the bill). Well worth it for a fancy night out. Highly recommend for folks who like shareable plates and fresh daily menus.

Please research the menu, automatic service charges and atmosphere prior to dining within this venue. Overall, the cost of our entrees aligned with Restaurant week. However, we expected more flavorful entrees. Our server was exceptional. However, he may have been stretched a little too thin between the patio, and interior dining hall. If you are ensuring the automatic service charge, please do a better job managing the front of house, patio and back of house experience. Skip the Patatas Bravas, it's seems like a breakfast dish. Also one of the servers swapped Pappas Fritas and this dish accidentally (no foul, ground ball on the play. been there before as a prior server). While this venue did accommodate kid-friendly options, it would be appreciated to have them listed on the menu or online prior to visitation. I am willing to give another try, however my family is not. Hence, I dinged a few stars for their dining experience as well. Miles may vary depending on the dining experience you are looking for within Baltimore City and surrounding area

Nice wine list, good pintxos, warm interior. 22% automatic gratuity for any size group that requires a conversation with a manager to change is intended to shame customers into tipping over and above accepted cultural norms in order to avoid an awkward conversation. If ownership wants to take better care of their employees, they can and should pay them a better wage. This policy by ownership pretends to be virtuous by creating a social hurdle to customer discretion on gratuity. I will not return for this reason.

One of the owners, Jake, served us and I cannot tell you how amazing he is! He ensured we had a great experience. He had amazing recommendations and we cleaned every plate. A chaotic dive into the best Tapas restaurant I've ever been to. An eclectic selection of bourbons and liquors with a gigantic wine selection. The food was outstanding and so much that I forgot to take pictures except, of dessert, because that's when the meal finally slowed down. The servers, runners and bar staff do an organized dance of getting things out but some things were forgotten, plates were put on the table without staff telling us what it was and you should specify "I want this, or this is for the table." Some things came out so fast that people at one end of the table ate it before we even knew what was out and then had to order it again. Or is that how they want it to be?

Everything was amazing. The food and the ambiance was very nice. The service was extremely good. The red sauce under the fish was so tasty. The shrimp was also so good with the preserved lemon and garlic. The dishes did not make us feel heavy afterwards. The tuna was cooked rare and extremely delicious. The desserts was also so nice, churros with black pepper and the bitter chocolate sauce was matching really well. The olive oil ice cream on top of the pear tart was out of this world. The experience we had there made us feel in Spain without buying a plane ticket to Spain. It was our first visit and will definitely not be the last. [Update, March 2024] We came here again and the quality of the food was amazing again, the service and atmosphere were also complementing the whole experience. We had the anchovies, fries, shrimp, tuna, churros and beignets. They were all top notch. They have changed the dishes slightly. The shrimp was cooked on the grill, from which you can taste the grill taste. It is serve with tomato sauce and some kind of mayonnaise, which was delicious. However, if you ask my opinion, I liked more the previous version with preserved lemon. The tuna was also extremely delicious and tender, it is cooked rare and the bed of green beans was also extremely delicious. The fries were also good. The bread and butter served at the beginning was also very nice and satisfying. You can also get some brea to go if you want to. For the dessert, we had churros and it was so good, especially with the black pepper and chocolate sauce. The espresso chip ice cream served with beignets was super delicious. The banana cream filing was also adding another layer of flavor to the dessert. We combined the chocolate sauce for the churros and the beignets and it took the dessert to another level. The service once again was amazing. Just to let you know they add 22% service charge by default. Overall, the quality and prices are really satisfying. The prices are extremely reasonable and not so expensive for such high quality food with an accompanying high quality service and atmosphere. It is a must try place if you are visiting Baltimore.

PEANUT ALLERGY ALERT! This restaurant could have easily been 5 stars for the food, ambiance, and service. Our waitress was incredibly nice and helpful and even offered some off menu kids items for our kiddo. The tapas were large and could have easily been entrees. The only downside is that so many of their items are cooked in peanut oil and/or have nuts on/in them. So if anyone in your party has an allergy, you might want to avoid this restaurant. The waitress did mark up our menu so my husband could see what was cooked in peanut oil, but even still, he had a mild reaction. It seems like an easy thing for a restaurant to switch to avocado oil or anything else. So just beware.

Fabulous Iberian-Mediterranean restaurant in a lovely, verdant Jones Falls location. Super-fine and reasonably priced wine lists--great for Spanish and Basque whites(!) Sundays, at least, wines priced over $100 are HALF PRICE! (So go already and splurge!) Small plates are perfect for one. Tapas offerings are substantial and can easily feed two. Entrees are often huge. Seafood plates are a stand-out--who else these days still serves wing of ray in a perfect lemon-caper sauce?? All jamon offerings are perfect. Empanadas with meat also sublime. Very attentive, welcoming, professional wait-staff. They amply deserve the standard 22% gratuity automatically added to your tab.

I've been waiting to leave this review for when I had time to sit down and give it (the review) the respect I think it deserves after our experience. We went to La Cuchara for my going away dinner as I'm moving to Texas. It was a 26-person dinner from 6pm to 10:30pm - and may just be the BEST DINING EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD! The Owner, Jake, waited on us personally and it was some of the most prompt, thoughtful, and "On-The-Ball" service I've ever experienced. No one ever had an empty drink over the entire dinner. Instead of everyone ordering, Jake picked small plates for the table to share to start off and then he picked the main dishes of the steak, the scallops, and a vegetarian dish, interspersed throughout the table for additional sharing. The FOOD WAS AMAZING!! EVERY SINGLE dish that Jake brought out was practically licked clean. THE COCKTAILS WERE ON POINT!! NOT ONLY did they come out RIGHT AWAY, but they were also incredibly tasty. Not once did the dinner feel rushed, nor did ANY of the servers who were assisting Jake ever makes us feel like we should head out asap. Rather, the entire staff continually made sure everyone was thoroughly enjoying themselves and having a GREAT time. Despite making our way through so much food in thr apps & entres, nost of the table was able to take their time ordering and enjoying desert. The ambience was fantastic! As we had a long table in a segregated space to ourselves, everyone felt comfortable with being as loud and gregarious as they chose. I could keep on raving about this night, but just trust me that La Cuchara should go right up in your top 5 best restaurants of Baltimore lists! The day after this dinner I received texts from just about everyone who was there raving about what a fantastic time they had.... Thanks again Jake! It really was a special and perfect night!

Benedict was forgetful and intentionally deprived us of a good experience, extra bread and went so far as to lie about its availability. His reliance on the included 22% gratuity prevented him from going the extra mile to make sure that we were happy. 400 dollars was spent, and we would’ve tipped a lot more than the 22% but Benedict gave us a bad attitude and zero recommendations. How someone can be in the service industry and have such a negative portrayal and display of service is beyond me and hopefully is beyond the management at La Cuchara do better Benedict

We had a baby back in October, which meant we were mostly house-bound for a few months. The baby’s Grandma gave us a break one December night so we could go on our first date since the baby was born. We decided on ordering several courses of tapas and ponchos. Everything was lovely. All the dishes had a ”wintery” feel. I was excited about eating here after a few years hearing of it. But, sadly, I don't understand the hype about their Spanish food and I don't think I'll go back. I am from Spain, and we go back every summer, some winters, we travel around the country... nothing I ate at La Cuchara brought me any memories or any "oh I missed this". The appetizers were very expensive if they are supposed to be tapas, and quite repetitive, just lots of cheese and meats, maybe it would be better to just have a couple of "tablas" or charcuterie trays and then other sharable plates. My son ordered patatas bravas because he loves them and he didnt eat even half of them, what is all that giant pile of green onion on top? Has anyone from the restaurant eaten patatas bravas in Spain even once? The sauce was also pretty bad, it tasted only like raw paprika, it was sandy and flavorless. I didnt recognize much more in the menu, but I could see some inspirations... anyway. It was quite expensive and we didn't enjoy it all that much. I would totally go there thinking "wine bar" they do have pages and pages of fabulous Spanish and French wine. I would 100% go to taste a couple of wines maybe with some ham and cheese, maybe churros, and that would be a far better date night.

This was our first visit to La Cuchara and we found the restaurant just -- amazing. The restaurant is in an old mill which has been tastefully redone. The restaurant is Basque -- with a really cool mix of Spanish and French menu items. The ceilings are high which really helps to minimize noise. While the restaurant was busy -- it wasnt noisy -- conversation was easy with just that hum of background noise you get in a popular place. Seating was very comfortable and the tables sizes were perfect. This place is popular - - yet the wait staff is not overwhelmed or rushed. They are just focused on providing great dining experience. The staff is timely, knowledgeable, and yet unobtrusive. I really liked that our waiter did not hover -- but was perfectly attentive. I also was impressed that while the menu changes almost daily based on what is in season and what is available fresh - our waiter knew everything that was on the menu. He provided excellent feedback and guidance when we had a question about a specific item -- everything from the drink and wine menu [whoever comes up with some of these drinks is a genius -- they were all amazing] to each item on the menu. Just a real pleasure. Now the food -- we love tapas and these were some of the best we've had - period. The menu is centered around Pintxos [like 1-2 bites], Raciones [a bit bigger], a nice Jamones y Quesos [ham and cheese] section with sharable sized plates, Tapas [also sharable] and Entradas which are akin to a normal entree. We tried just about everything on the menu and all were amazing -- fresh, perfectly cooked, sharable . It was great to share all the different tastes and was just ... fun :) Some of our favorites were the Gilda Boquerones, the Jamon [ham] and the Spinach/Gruyere croquettes, the olives, the Cantabrian Anchovies, the Mushroom Escabeche, Shrimp Plantxa, Octopus Carpaccio, and of course the Steak! Honestly there wasnt one thing between 5 diners that wasnt raved over. Our comments were akin to --- 'oh - you've got to try this'. To finish off the meal deserts were ordered -- Chai Ice Cream, Roasted Pineapple Sorbet, and the Honey Rosemary Creme Brulee - with espressos were all hits. A couple of other notes -- they are sensitive to food allergies and will try and help guide your choices to items which avoid any sensitive foods for that person. Vegetarian/vegans can do very well here. The hours are centered around dinner - at least during the winter - seating starts at 5pm and the place closes at 9 or 10 pm. Overall - this was just a smash hit for us. I think this has become one of our 'go to' places when you want to share a great meal with good company. Just delightful.

La Cuchara is the best restaurant in all of Baltimore because the food is like no other you will see in this city. When I found out about this place, I was absolutely excited to visit. I appreciate the lengths to which they tried to make the interior look like a baserri and to replicate the food that you will find at Eneperi or any restaurant in Donostia. To focus first on what sets La Cuchara apart from all others, the food. We loved the croquetas with the perfect texture and a delicious mix of bechamel and Spanish ham. The pintxos de Guilda tastes exactly like the ones you would find in the pintxos bars in Donostia or Bilbao. The grilled shrimp were fresher, cooked to the perfect point, on top of bed of roasted sweet peppers. The desserts had the right combination of tradition and unusual elements that made the experience more captivating. I loved the great selection of wines, especially txakoli and Rioja reds. This not a 5-star review because of the service. Looks like this place has had such a huge success that it is struggling to find good staff. Although we had a reservation, we had to wait 20 min after the reservation time to be sited. The waiter does not manage the table or control what comes out of the kitchen. Every single time they missed clearing the table before the next dishes arrived, and they never completely cleared the table (I really do not understand why they will take some of the dirty empty dishes but not all). We had to ask for clean plates, and they brought us wet plates. These are all rookie mistakes that can be easily fixed by training the staff and good management. I would love to come back in my next visit to Baltimore, but hopefully during a time that is less crowded.

This evening I had the pleasure of dining at La Cuchara It was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The star of the evening was undoubtedly our waiter, Benedict, whose exceptional service elevated our dining experience. The cornmeal crusted oysters were a true delight – the perfect balance of crispy texture and succulent flavor. Each bite was a testament to the chef's skill and the freshness of the ingredients. The creme brulee was a sweet sensation, delivering a delightful end to our meal. It showcased the chef's attention to detail and commitment to delivering a memorable dessert. However, the highlight of the evening was the entree featuring scallops. The scallops were cooked to perfection, tender and bursting with flavor. This dish was nothing short of phenomenal, and it left a lasting impression on our taste buds. Overall, La Cuchara provided a culinary experience that exceeded expectations. The combination of excellent service from Benedict and the exceptional quality of the dishes, particularly the cornmeal crusted oysters and scallops, makes this restaurant a must-visit in Baltimore. Lovely selection of wine, tinned fishes, homemade bread. Great service overall. However, the chef generally overdid it on sauces and ingredients for each dish (some had 3+ which really covered the flavor profile)- suggest sticking to simple items on the menu. Portions are larger than normal tapas bars.

From the moment you step inside La Cuchara, the aroma of sizzling spices and rich, robust flavors envelops you like a warm embrace. The intricate dance of textures and tastes in each dish is a testament to the chef's mastery — a symphony of Basque culinary artistry. The pintxos, a delightful prelude, are bite-sized revelations that ignite the taste buds with bursts of savory ecstasy. The main courses are a canvas of perfection, where the tender cuts of meat and vibrant vegetables meld into a masterpiece. The ambiance, transports you to a rustic yet elegant world, and the attentive staff adds a touch of hospitality that feels like coming home.

An absolute favorite in the Baltimore area. If you've been to Spain you sure miss the food! Well this place can help you not miss it too much. Love the pintxos and tapas but they have great conservas selection and also great wine selection. Also great prices!

Amazing food and service! Our waitress Jae was so helpful and attentive. My boyfriend has celiac disease and she took the time to mark up a paper copy of the menu with every gluten free option. We ordered a bottle of wine and the sommelier recommended a great bottle of wine in our price range. All of the food was great! The tapas are larger than at most American Spanish restaurants and are closer to the size of an appetizer. Strongly recommend the duck breast, the shrimp with chorizo, and the crème brûlée.

Quite a dining experience. Let my daughter do most of the ordering. She chose wisely as everything was superb. I can't pronounce the names of some of the various dishes , but I liked all of them Had a smoked Old Fashion, which was great. One of the owners even came over and spent some time talking with us. He was really engaging. Service was perfect ... completely attentive the entire time

I can’t believe I haven’t left a review yet until now. La Cuchara is one of my favorite spots in the Baltimore area. I’ve been multiple times, and every time it’s been more than worth it. Incredible food, with a menu that changes a little bit each time, incredible service, and a nice rustic atmosphere. For the price, you can’t do much better than this. Will be back soon before long.

Good food. Nice place. The waiter, however, was a snob. He repeatedly talked down to us, and was trying to rush us out from the start. When we asked him to slow down the service he said they were simply too busy that night. And to make things worse, he turned that single request into a personal attack on us.

The atmosphere is a 10/10. The apps (they called them something else) were delish. But our entrees were just mediocre. I’d go again to try something different. I had the skirt steak and potatoes and my wife had the fish. Our server was top knotch. 5/5 stars for her!

Nice selection of tapas and some creative cocktails. Made for an enjoyable evening. The servers are all very professional, worthy of the automatic 22% service charge. Glad to have this restaurant here in Baltimore.

We had a family celebration- five of us. We enjoyed our experience. The food was terrific and such a nice variation on the usual structure of meals. We had lots of dishes to share- the croquettes were wonderful and so were the oysters, jamon, shrimp and scallops. Patatas Brava were good though sometimes overwhelmed by the sauce, peach clafoutis was v good. Drinks and wine were great- we celebrated and enjoyed it all.

Espetacular! Sentamos no balcão. Excelente restaurante.

I met friends for happy hour and then stayed to have dinner afterwards. At the start of both orders the wait staff kindly inquired if there were any food allergies. The bread, marinated manchego, Spanish olives, patatas bravas, pan con tomate and dayboat scallops were amazing. After chatting with the staff about the contents and portion size of the peach almond clafoutis, I ordered one. Upon digging in I was surprised to find blueberries rather than peaches. The beauty of a fresh ingredients menu is that ingredient may change day to day, as noted by the wait staff upon inquiry. However, the very nature of such a restaurant requires that the staff know what the kitchen is doing. That’s the job, full stop. The team graciously owned the mistake noting that dessert menus are not printed daily and removed the dessert charge.

I feel like most restaurants aren't at their best when they're serving a large crowd banquet style. But I was here for a 100-person wedding and I'll be damned if every single bite I had wasn't totally perfect. I can only imagine what they might do for dinner, but the service was top-notch and my glass was never empty. Needless to say, I was hugely impressed with this place.

We came here with some friends last night and had an amazing time. We had a bunch of tapas including various cheeses, beef empanadas, pan con tomate, jamon croquettes, and jamon serrano. Everything was delicious. We ordered rib eye steak for dinner and it was great! The drinks were also great. The service was on point. I would recommend this location for anyone wanting an upscale dinner.

We had a dinner reservation last night. It was our first time visiting and we had an amazing waitress, Jae. She greeted us and informed us of the menu and portions of the menu items. She was very knowledgeable of both the wine and food which made ordering very easy. Absolutely everything we ate last night was delicious. Jae was very attentive during all the courses and has a great personality to add to our special dining experience. If you're considering making a reservation, I highly recommend you ask for Jae! (Items eaten: beef empanadas, spinach and cheese croquettes, chorizo manchego, marinated manchego, 12 month Jamon Serrano, pan con tomate, dayboat scallops, wood grilled ribeye, and rainbow trout (pictured below)

My wife and I visited a friend in Baltimore and this was one of the restaurants we at it. It blows away 99% of restaurants we have been to. We all had drinks or a wine and shared 2 appetizers a salad and 2 entrees. This included Boquerones (anchovies), 2 Shrimp Tapas and a Chorizo, Manchego. Everything was amazing and we had plenty of food. The venue is very high energy and bustling with amazing service. Wish we lived closer than the 225 miles we live from the restaurant. I really wanted to eat here the other 3 nights we were in Baltimore. Pricing was amazing with a $141 bill with tip for dinner.
