The food was delicious and very authentic with great sauces. We had the escargot, crabmeat in pastry, crispy duck, and beef Wellington, all were excellent. The owner, Michael, came over and spoke to us for a while, something we appreciated. Noise volume was low, making dinner more enjoyable. Will definitely return.

Had I known of this restaurant, I would have come here and kept coming here for many years. Having a French mother and having spent a lot time in France it's truly hard to find good French food here in the US. Latour has made me a believer that you don't need to go home to feel like you are at home. Dominic, the head waiter was charming funny and a pleasure, Chef Michael walks around the restaurant speaking with all clients old and new to bring the personal touch you don't see anymore. As a foodie who has a true appreciation for the finer things in life I highly recommend Latour for every occasion or even when you just want a fabulous meal.

Very very good French food… likely the truest French food you’ll find in all of Bergen County. Have had some very good dishes here including Dover Sole, the grouper, soufflés, etc. all of which are reasonably priced ($35-45 entrees) for how good the food is. Enjoy that the chef usually comes out to chat to customers when it’s not that busy. Dining room itself could use a little bit of updating but that is kind of part of the charm. BYOB

You call this fine dining? What a joke. The establishment is lacking in interior design - really it's gross and not kept up. The floor needs replacing, the walls need repainting, the art and decor has been there for at least maybe two decades. We waited over ten minutes for someone to greet us at our table with water.. finally we just left. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Again, just plain gross - can't believe this is a luxury dining establishment. AVOID.

This restaurant had amazing service, decorated nicely and delicious food. We got the lump crabmeat strudel for appetizer and I got the duck which was excellent. This would have been a five star review however my wife was between the grouper ($36) and the Sole special. My wife enjoyed the sole dish however when the bill came, it was $66. We were a little disappointed at that price considering it was not lobster, almost double the grouper price, the highest meals on the menu - the venison and beef Wellington were $52 and the side was mashed potatoes, nothing that exquisite. We opted not to ask the special price but maybe that should be stated by the waiter if the difference is that much.

Went last Sunday with high expectations based on an earlier visit a couple of years ago. I was very disappointed. The short rib entree was stringy and tough. The lamb roast entry was tasteless with an unseasoned brown gravy. The only high point was the scallop appetizer. For these prices I’m not sure I can ever visit again.

This place is fantastic! We moved to Ridgewood a couple of years ago and must have visited 10+ times. The food is always well cooked and a very good standard and the service is attentive and knowledgeable. My absolute go to appetizer is is the fois gras; however anything I’ve tried has been great! The Dover sole for entree is a particular highlight!

Great classic French restaurant. I've been here 3 times now and each time has been great. I have had their French onion soup, goat cheese ravioli (special), Coq au Vin, short rib stroganoff, and cassoulet (special). I'd recommend every one of these dishes, but if they have the cassoulet you should get that. It was incredible. Quickly add that their rolls and butter are excellent. Do your best to not fill up on those.

My experience here was amazing. The most attentive and eloquently spoken waiting staff I’ve ever interacted with. Every dish my wife and I ate was more impressive than the last. The Beef Wellington was cooked to perfection and the escargot was exquisite. The head chef/owner of the restaurant personally came out of the kitchen and greeted each table. I usually do not write reviews, but as I sit here waiting for my check, I feel compelled to share my experience. 5 stars is not enough for the experience that I’ve had. My hats off to the chef 👏

Dominic provided us with such excellent service and definitely enhanced our overall dining experience! The ambiance of the restaurant is very cute and welcoming, with various art pieces and designs spread throughout. We both opted for the prefix, which was a four course meal for 55 dollars, a definite steal if you ask me! We got the escargot and lump crab appetizer, without our favorite definitely being the escargot! The French onion soup was also incredibly rich and paired beautifully with the cheese that balanced out the onions' richness. The short rib entree was actually our least favorite due to it being overly tough and on the blander side of things, so I definitely recommend staying away from the short ribs. The chicken dish tasted better and complimented the sides of veggies and mash perfectly. Our desserts were also quite delicious, with the crème brûlée tasting amazing; we just wish the torched sugar exterior wasn't as thick as it was. My partner and I had a wonderful experience dining with friends yesterday at Latour. This is a fantastic boutique type establishment tucked in the center of Ridgewood by the railroad station which I haven’t reviewed in a year. Reservation was done via Open Table and waited almost a month. The menu offers a few solid options from the French répertoire to include escargots and foie gras. Our server was Hilal who read the special menu and brought out complimentary rolls to us. As appetizers, we started with Diver Scallops Rockefeller with Spinach and bacon, aged Gouda glaçage, special baked Brie cheese with sliced grapes, sliced apples with small salad and the Roasted Beet Salad consisting of Goat cheese fondue, pumpkin-spiced almonds. For entrees, we’ve ordered Short Ribs Stroganoff with Buttered pasta, garlic breadcrumb gratinée, Filet of Beef Wellington Napoleon with Layered puff pastry, wild mushroom duxelle, paté de foie gras, veal demi glacé, Herb-Crusted Salmon with mashed potato, vegetable du jour, Horseradish Cream Sauce, two specials were the Cassoulet (a hearty slow-simmered stew of sausage, duck confit , pork, and white beans and Filet of Halibut with the beurre blanc sauce. Unfortunately we didn’t have any room for desserts. Each meal continues to be so well thought out, tasty and so perfectly executed that one must make multiple visits to try everything on the menu. Chef/owner Michael came out and spent a few minutes talking with each of the tables. Do yourself a favor and go to this place as you will be extremely happy which we can continue to recommend.

Wasn't on bone & tough stringy meat. Crabmeat appetizer was ok. Atmosphere was perfect. I removed a star because of the extra fee for using a credit card. Something you overlook on bottom of menu, until they swipe card. I think it should be told verbally, as well, because it left a bad taste in my mouth.

This is my first experience at a French restaurant and I will say from beginning to end it was nothing short of fantastic! We were greeted and seated quickly. The staff was very attentive from chilling, opening to pouring our bottle of champagne. The atmosphere is classy and elegant. We started with the escargots and fallen french cheese soufflé, which we’re absolutely delicious. The sauces were perfection and I would bottle it and bring it home! Entrees were the duck breast and fillet of beef Wellington napoleon. Waiter recommended medium rare on both and he was absolutely spot on! Every bite, was accompanied by “mmm oh my god”! Finishing our meal with grand mariner cheesecake and chocolate mousse cake. A delicious finish to a great evening. The cheesecake was flavorful and the chocolate mousse simply melts in your mouth! The chef was so warm and inviting. He would visit the tables and speak with everyone. He visited us twice and each time was like catching up with an old friend. We will definitely be back over and over to try everything on the menu! Bring a few bottles, friends, loved ones and come to your French home in the USA!

Double birthday dinner for two friends. We shared the fallen cheese souffle which was great. I had the Coq au vin, the vegetables were crisp and the mashed potatoes were very tasty. My friend had the short ribs and she said they were delicious. The restaurant treated us to profiteroles for dessert in honor of our birthdays! (Yummy chocolate sauce.) We were there for a Prix Fixe dinner ($55+ tax/gratuity) & everything was delicious, beautiful & perfect. The pictures show what I ordered: the crab strudel in lobster sauce, as a Appetizer, Caesar salad, lamb entré, & crème brûlêe with tea for dessert. The fancy city railway station neighborhood of Ridgewood, NJ offers a few surprising French food options including two bakeries and one restaurant - the Latour. The setting is nice, although a bit kitschy. The menu offers a few solid options from the French repertoire, including escargots and foie gras (both very good). We had as a shared entree a lamb special, quite good, although not resembling anything we ever had in France (kind of Bourgignon sauce for a baked boneless lamb slice). The great minus os the absence of an alcohol option. I understand that alcohol license is expensive, you can bring your own bottle, but how can you chose wine before ordering food? This is certainly not a French experience.

One of the best restaurants in New Jersey IMO. Love to come here for special occasions or when we want a memorable night. The food is incredible - flavors, pairings, presentation. Foie gras is incomparable! Latour belongs in NYC, it’s that good. If you’re not very familiar with French food, don’t be intimidated. Staff is friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is elegant w/o being boring, and, I’ll say it again, the food is amazing!

La tour is a great restaurant. The service is always phenomenal and the food is amazing. I have been multiple times and each time was great. Their coq au vin and beef wellington are my favorite. I would also recommend the cassoulet. The staff here is also very friendly.

Latour has been one of our favorite restaurants for over 30 years. Michael & staff run a superb facility with exceptional meals. Some of the specialties we enjoyed tonight were Fallen Cheese Soufle, Roasted Beet salad, Lump Crabmeat, potato encrusted Grouper,, Horseradish Crusted Salmon. Braised Shortribs, Cow au Vin, Apple Strudel & Creme Brûlée, all of which were perfect. BYzo & difficult street parking.

I had a great experience while dining with friends at Latour. The menu was diverse, and the wait staff more than accommodating. The Beef Wellington is excellent. The owner of the restaurant was very cordial, and came out to to introduce himself to everyone at the table. The restaurant is BYOB which I find to be a huge plus. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is business casual, however, the outdoor dining area is less formal affording a more relaxed summer attire.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Ridgewood. We have dined here over 30 times. Fine dining, on par with some of the best French restaurants in New York City and in Paris. With BYOB policy and 3 course Prix Fix Sunday-Thursday, it's really affordable too. Many restaurants in Ridgewood come and go. There's a reason Latour has been open at this location for 24 years. Imaginative well-prepared dishes and impeccable service make this a staple. Michael Latour often meets and greets guests, adding a touch of French flair. We tried pretty much every dish. Our favorite appetisers are foie gras, escargot and the fallen french cheese souffle. For second course we love Beef wellington, the duck and the grouper. If you haven't been here yet, do come and support this amazing place.

Service was timely, waitress wasn't familiar with opening a wine bottle. Our group had 3 courses and most dishes were prepared correctly and enjoyable. Their highly recommended lamb shank special was extremely dry, overcooked, and rather disappointing. A couple minutes after receiving our dessert, the waitress could be heard bad mouthing our table because she wanted to leave and she had to wait on us. Food was generally good to above average, but nothing fantastic in any way, and not without mistakes. Service was very average, not to mention the rude attitude. Id try someplace new instead of going back.

Latour is a small and cozy French restaurant in Ridgewood. The prices are pretty reasonable, and the portions are a nice size. They start you with bread which really isn’t anything special. I found that part to be disappointing as French restaurants usually have a few different types to choose from. One good one I love at French restaurants is a raisin biscuit. We started off with 3 different appetizers a lump crabmeat strudel, lamb Osso Buco tortellini, and a seafood crepe. When they were served two were only lukewarm and one was hot. I like everything to be served hot. The seafood crepe was by far the best one as it was stuffed with a generous amount of seafood. The lump crabmeat strudel was very good, and the Osso bucco tortellini was just fair. I wouldn’t order that one again. For entrees we had the lamb chop special and filet of beef Wellington Napoleon. The lamb chop special was EXCELLENT! It was perfectly seasoned, and they gave a generous serving. It was the best dish of the night, and I highly recommend ordering it. The filet of beef Wellington was very good. For desserts we had the chocolate ganache mousse cake and hazelnut pear crumb tart. Both were DELICIOUS! I’m a chocolate lover so I thought the chocolate ganache tart was the best one out the two. The chocolate cake was so fresh and moist, and the mousse had a perfect consistency. The hazelnut pear crumb tart was very good and even the vanilla ice cream it was topped with was so good! Our waitress was great, and we look forward to coming back. I recommend dining at Latour in Ridgewood!

The food, atmosphere, and service is beyond belief. There were 4 of us and we couldn not decide on one app each so we shared all 8. The Chef cisited ghe table to check in which was wonderful and tell us a little about hisself. The main courses were divine. I had the grouper, my friends had seafood risoto , grilled lamb w mustard, and dover sole filleted at table side. The deserts are divine, and while the souffles are not on the menu you can ask for.them. They come at a minimum of 2 and require 30 minutes notice to the staff and chef. I highly recomend you let them know when you order your appetizers. I have been there multiple times with rotating menus but the same staff. It is BYOB so grab yourselves a bottle or 2 , dress nice , and enjoy a fun delicious time!

We went there as we prefer Indian food , the chef is from Calcutta India so you will find the taste of spicy and curry in all food . Don’t order there Kashmiri rooti it’s too sweet to go with spicy food , it really made my mood off, the beef was good but the chicken korma was so so . I will give the whole experience as average...

Not sure why everyone felt this place was so great. Frankly we were disappointed after waited for our table and Nobody even came to ask us if we had reservation ( which we did). For about 5 to 7 minutes we just stood at the door while everyone stared at us like we meant nothing. Then after we finally got our food, it was really bland, every dish got the same sauce no matter what you ordered. Plate was kept very hot so a medium rare piece of meat became medium or well done half way through the meal. The only thing that was okay to our standard was the seafood crepe appetizer. I can't really recommend this place for the price we are paying.
