Nice little fine dining spot. Took a last minute reservation, chill atmosphere. Cozy. The one server kept the whole place running like a fine tuned machine! Prices reasonable. Definitely reccomend

The website is very misleading with regard to the menu. The service left something to be desired. It took 13 minutes to get someone's attention to get a knife for my meal, and apparently I was to eat my piece of pie with a spoon, because a fork was not provided. The food was adequate, but uninspiring. The pie tasted like it came from a grocery store. It was worth a try, but this restaurant falls far short of a quality french experience.

I and two friends of mine recently had luch at Le Trouquet in Albuquerque, and it was a disappointing experience. As someone who has enjoyed French onion soup over 100 times around the world, I was surprised to find the soup here extremely salty. When I asked the waiter about it, he responded with an arrogant attitude, claiming that most people like it salty. This was hard to believe. One of us managed to finish the soup but later complained of feeling unwell for while. French waiters are known for their occasionally haughty demeanor, but this waiter wasn't even French. This added to our dissatisfaction. We had initially planned to try the crème brûlée, but after our interaction with the waiter and our disappointment with the soup, we decided to leave and went to another café for coffee and dessert instead. Additionally, I found the overall menu unimpressive. As a frequent traveler who has dined at numerous restaurants worldwide, this is the first time I have felt compelled to leave a negative review. It's not just about the salty soup, but the attitude of the waiter that left a bad impression. The three of us unanimously agreed that this would be our first and last visit to Le Trouquet. It's hard to believe the chef was French, as the food did not reflect authentic French cuisine. He likely has never been to France. Overall, I cannot recommend Le Trouquet based on this experience.

Food was good. Used to be better, but still good. Unfortunately they were under staffed and it showed. We walked in to check in and rather than greet us and ask us our names and reservation time, they just told us to wait outside. We got a bottle and they didn't present the bottle and open it front of us.

I've been several times to Le Troquet and I can't say enough good things. The bread is enough to keep you going back, but it doesn't have to be, because everything on the menu is exquisite, authentic French cuisine - down to the creamiest creme brulee I've ever eaten. This is the French restaurant that Albuquerque has been waiting for and I feel lucky to work downtown so close to food this delicious. They are always busy, yet always efficient and super friendly. I recommend this little gem very highly, and I would also recommend making a reservation, especially for dinner - they are a small, quaint restaurant with limited seating.

Had reservations. Arrived less than 10 min late. Waited over 1 hr by small bathroom hall. Were told that they took people off waiting list and we should continue waiting. Manager was rude, seems like staff has a bully mentality. Full house on arrival. Empty tables when left after over 1 hr wait. Seems they overbooked and didn’t want to take responsibility for it. Nobody took my last name, phone number at booking. Time was confirmed several times. Manager tried to tell us booked was for much earlier. We waited and were willing to wait since it would have been 1st experience there. Place seems like a remodeled version of home. It was the rudeness and entitlement of the management that made us walk out.

I wish there were more stars to give to this place, because it certainly deserves it. I had one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. From start to finish, I would give it a 10. Ambience. The service, and the food were outstanding. I had the trout, and it was exceptional. My companions had the steak Frits and the mussels all equally excellent. Our table grew quiet as we ate; very good sign as we dove into it and didn't chat. It's a very small place and quite cozy, I felt like I was in a café in Paris. We had a leisurely dinner that lasted three hours, and never felt rushed. We ended with a dessert of crème brûlée and chocolate mousse. I can't say enough good things about this place, and we will be back again and again and again .

The atmosphere and service are great. Small intimate restaurant with attentive service. The food was disappointing. Positives, bread, onion soup, dessert, and espresso were great. Excellent wine list, small but high quality. Negatives, entrees were average. Au Poivre sauce was thick and more of a gravy, no taste and cold. The quality of the filet was average and not seasoned. Sole Milanaise, again sauce was thick and far too much lemon and over took the capers. Rice was cold and needed salt. Really wanted to love this restaurant, but based on the first visit, it will be hard to return at the price and quality of the entrees.

This place is amazing! From the very start, with the dinner roll, hot, tasty, crusty, it ticked all the boxes. The French onion soup was aromatic, amazing flavors and the texture was great. The beef tenderloin was the most tender I have ever eaten, with again, great flavor, topped with an excellent crab cake and the best wine sauce. When I eat carrots, you know they have to be outstanding. I ate these carrots. We will be back. My compliments to the chef and staff!

We stopped in for lunch and we were pleased with our dining experience. The ambiance is reminiscent of a small cafe you'd see in France. There was a French speaking person should a translator was needed. The menu was simple but each item was prepared to perfection with the right amount of flavouring, there was not need for added salt and pepper at the table. We tried the following: Appetiser: Smoked Fish Platter (smoked salmon, smoked trout, candied onions with their own prepared gourmet tartar with toasted baguette) Entree: Grilled Pork Tenderloin and the special Chicken Cordon Bleu. Both were flavourful and tender! Overall, we were pleased and a place to try for either lunch or dinner.

Went for my birthday, returning for our anniversary. I loved the food on my first visit, and have been hoping to return ever since. Everything was cooked to perfection, the bread is delicious, I had scallops (had been craving em for months) they were big enough for just a few to be filling with the thoughfully portioned rice and veggies. The steak and fries my boyfriend ordered were also magnifique. I will order creme brulee anywhere that serves it, but theirs is above and beyond. Make a reservation! We made a reservation a few days in advance, and didn't wait more than a minute or two to be seated. Customers who came in without reservations were also seated while we were there, but be aware there are about 10 tables or less, depending on party sizes, so I wouldn't walk in off the street expecting to be guaranteed a table. Je t'aime les restaurants fraçais! Je visite la ville de Cannes en 2018, et j'etudie français tous le jours pour cinq ans maintenant. Le chef du Le Troquet est tres bien, c'est mon restaurant préféré en Nouveau Mexique. Update: went for brunch. Mimosa bar (a bottle if rose, juice n 2 flutes) was 25$ and plenty for 2. I had a vegetarian crepe, the bf had the steak and fries again (he loves it). Ashley was our server, he is very kind, thoughtful and very BUSY! He's serving all the tables as well as answerimg the phone but takes time to make sure everything comes out perfect. MERCI to Ashley & Le Troquet, compliments to the chef and the sous chef!😊

The Shrimp Alfredo, Trout, and Steak w/ Crab Cakes were especially a huge hit. My husband & I started with the French onion soup, he said it was the best he has ever had. He had the scallops & I had a seafood crepe. The crepe has shrimp & scallops. I was expecting (blue) crab being an east coast girl. It would’ve been more fabulous with a little crab or lobster. My husband order a puff pastry with ice cream for & I ordered the apple crepes. I was served TWO crepes as in for two people. I think I should’ve been told it was as a shareable dessert. I would not call this a romantic restaurant because you are sitting so close to the other tables it was hard not to hear everything others were saying. In fact tables of people talked amongst themselves. We will return and will try to reserve a table along the wall (windows) as you walk in for more privacy & quiet.

Went here with my girlfriend for a special occasion. I will say that the food is absolutely first rate. We enjoyed our meal from a culinary standpoint. That being said, the meal was completely spoiled by the atmosphere. I am going to STRONGLY recommend that nobody gay, or trans ever eat here. It was very easy to tell that our waiter was very unhappy to be serving us. Their outer demeanor made us intensely uncomfortable. The other patrons were even worse. The dining room is quite small and intimate. People are spaced closely. The other patrons did not want us there. They made no secret of this, and we received dirty and hostile stares throughout our meal. We were both properly dressed in formal women's attire and used proper etiquette. There was absolutely no reason that we should be treated this way, and it was very clearly bigotry at play. When we left, one of the patrons made sure to give us such a look of abject hatred that my girlfriend was quite literally stunned, having never encountered this level of bigotry before. I've never had to leave a review like this before, but it needs to be done. No one should ever endure the type of treatment that we did. Especially not in a place like Albuquerque, which prides itself in equal treatment of all the diverse people. I hope that Le Troquet takes this seriously and addresses it, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Either way, the treatment will have the desired effect, because we will never return to this place. I will also make sure to tell everyone I know about this. Edit: Wow, the response from the owner makes it even worse. It speaks for itself too.

Went in today for lunch , I was promptly greeted and seated.. almost ten minutes passed by and the person who seated me was involved with a deep conversation with a wine representative.. not even water was poured in, all I could hear a loud conversation orchestrated by him, i and another couple had to listen to this loud mouth talking about wines… so I shouted out that I’m in a rush and I need my order taken to that he responded that he was having a conversation with the wine rep. to that I said well if you are busy I can go elsewhere.. then he barked yes I’m busy so I left. The question that comes to mind is the following: what is more important for a business ???is it dealing with a sales person during business hours or catering to a customer who pays the bills?? This is a question that the above restaurant should ask itself. There is nothing worse than a server with an attitude, especially if he is loud.

Though quite small, Le Troquet has a fine dining feel. I took my mother here for a celebration dinner and the experience was good, for the most part. The beet salad, escargot, lamb, creme brulee, and wine were all phenomenal. However, the potato and leek soup, as well as the trout, were severely under seasoned. The service was nice until the end when we did have to wait for half an hour to ask for our check, as the waiter and his helper had disappeared. Edit: I am lowering my rating from 3 stars to 1. Visited a second time - the service was worse. The waiter did not refill water, did not ask how our meal was until he brought the check, and, once again, disappeared for almost an hour, reappearing in a T-shirt. Will not be returning.

I wonder if the owners / upper management is aware they turn away customers BEFORE closing time. The closing time posted on the Google listing and on their door is 9pm. We arrived around 8:33pm, and yes, close to closing, but not at closing. We were told they were closing up so they would not seat us. Turned away paying customers 27 minutes before closing. If you close the kitchen earlier or stop seating after a certain time, then post it. Instead of wasting patrons' time getting to your establishment.

Small and quaint little place. Food was alright. Definitely didn't fill up on the 3 scallops that I was served. We were quickly ignored by the server once other people came in. Im sorry i dont look rich enough to keep your attention. Server spent 20 minutes talking to the table next to us, they looked like they had money, and said less than 10 words to us. Never got a refill (i was drinking water) and took 25 minutes to get the check and mind you there are only maybe 5 tables.... I live in a service industry town, I tip appropriately for the service I get because I know servers live on tips but this guy didn't deserve a dime. I still tipped but shouldn't have. My girlfriends French onion soup was burned on one half and almost not even cooked on the other. Meaning, the cook never rotated it when it was reheated... I don't mind spending money on good food but I've eaten better at my local beach bar for 1/3rd the price and got double the portions.

For appetizers, she ordered the Onion Soup and I ordered the Calamari; she said the onion soup was one of the best she ever tasted, and my calamari was mouth-watering in a tasty creamy sauce. For entrees, she ordered the Filet En Croute and I ordered the Trout Amandine. Her well-crusted filet was super tender and delicious, with a surprising layer of pate that provided an unexpected but well-balanced flavor. My trout amandine was perfectly cooked - but it was swimming in too much almond butter sauce that was rich and velvety but overwhelming the delicate flavor of the fish; I just moved my fish aside. The vegetable sides on both dishes were perfectly cooked. For dessert, we shared a Profiteroles - it was a sinfully delightful treat. The ambience was very cozy and romantic, service was excellent, and prices were reasonable for such high quality of food. Very highly recommended, even though the tables are very close together.

Had to wait outside in the heat for 15 minutes when tables were open and we had a reservation. Dessert puffed pastries obviously frozen - did not taste good. And my son's mousse tasted like pudding. The AC did not seem like it was working. I was hot all dinner long. Service was slow. Escargot not enough garlic, very plain. Told us the special was cod then 30 minutes later told my son they ran out of cod what else would he like? Pate seemed old. And expensive. Super sad. Worst dinner of our week vacation.

We went to Le Troquet while on vacation in Albuquerque mostly because my SIL is very much into French cuisine. I ordered the Salmon Dijonaisse and was extremely pleased with my choice. The salmon was excellent, and the dijonaisse sauce was incredibly delicious. Unfortunately, we found this place on our last day in ABQ. However, I will be back.

From start to finish, our entire experience here was fantastic! The restaurant itself is very small and feels intimate which we enjoyed. Our waiter was perfectly attentive, knowledgeable, and had some fantastic recommendations for us! My fiancé and I each had an appetizer, entree, and shared a dessert, and each course was fabulous. I couldn’t recommend this place more highly, if you’re in Albuquerque make yourself a reservation here, you won’t regret it!

Food was Mediocre at best. Soggy vegetables not fresh. Service was good. Very small tight cramped space. Won’t be back.

A truly memorable experience and a hidden gem in downtown Albuquerque. It would be very easy to overlook this place. I think the ownership has done a great job keeping the exterior very understated. The inside is quaint and beautiful and the food is absolutely delicious. I got to attend a private party where a vendor at a conference it was attending rented the restaurant out. We got to try everything from the lovely potato leek soup to lamb chops and escargot. They also have a great selection of French lager beers. Highly recommended!

Just wow! That chef is a legend. My fiancé and I are ABQ natives but have only had the fine dining experience when we are traveling which is quite frequently. Man! We are just now finding out we have this place right at home?! We were surrounding by loyal customers who knew well about Le Troquet and were telling us, as newbies, their experiences. Went ahead and ordered the mussels in this incredible white wine sauce and was blown away. My fiancé ordered the Lamb and I was hesitant because I was enjoying my mussels but man oh man… that lamb gave me an out of body experience. One of those close your eyes and turn off every sense but taste moments. GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. Just make sure to leave a table for me!

Definitely a hidden gem in town. We recently had a date night here and it was great. The service was amazing and the food was great as well. Everything came out fresh as well as hot and tasty. Servers were knowledgable about the menu and gave great wine recommendations. Seating is limited so definitely make reservations ahead of time. We can't wait to go back again.

I gave this three stars because stars are required. We went here for lunch on Saturday. The website and the door said restaurant was open. It was not.

My first time in ABQ. Hotel was closed for food (Fantastic hotel though - Hyatt Regency) they gave me a lost of 10 option. One was French. I cannot recommend it enough. The most amazing food I have tasted. Ashley offer the best front of house, whilst JP (Chef) works his magic in the kitchen. JP is a social chef also, walking the floor to say hello to guests. Who says customer service is dead ! ❤️

I love French food and Le Troquet has all the classics. Escargot, moules, pate and the piece de resistance, filet en croute (steak in puff pastry). My husband claims the seafood options are delicious as well but I can never bring myself to try anything new as the filet is already perfection. I have my birthday dinner here every year and I am never disappointed.

Adorable hole in the wall french cafe. You can tell the staff takes pride in their food, everything I had was delicious and unique. Their menu is limited but impressive. Every bite I took was better than the last. I definetly will be back. The strawberry crepe was unlike any other crepe. You could taste each ingredient, including the sweet creme.

Just great. It's a small quaint place where every now and then the chef comes out to greet the guests and the food is absolutely perfect. The server welcomed us, told us about the specials and was very knowledgeable about the food which is new to a lot of people. I tried the seafood crepe. Such a delicate flavours finely put together. The other entree we tried was the beef Bourguignon. A little sharper flavour than the creamy seafood. With a smooth res wine finish. Great.
