I've dined here for dinner and for lunch. For my dinner visit, I tried the Grilled Duroc Pork Chop. It's served with basmati rice grits, charred kimchi, wild mushroom jus. I also added a side of broccolini to my meal. The pork chop was juicy and flavorful. I also loved the broccolini w cheese. The rice grits were just okay, I'd have preferred corn grits. For dinner, I tried the chocolate cake and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. the cake was moist and not overly sweet. Also, it had just the right amount of frosting. On my lunch visit, I had the red beans and rice, which came with fried chicken. The red beans and rice were excellent. The chicken was fried to perfection. The sauce on the chicken was a tad too sweet for me, but it was still tasty. The staff at Luke were great. I was seated quickly, and the waitress quickly reviewed the specials for the day. Also, they were quick with drink refills. My only quibble with the place is the noise level inside. When it's busy, prepare for sensory overload.

Everything was amazing when we visited from out of town! Servers Molly and Atalie were super timely and knowledgeable in the menu and drinks. We work in the service industry and tend to be picky with our service but they didn't miss a beat! They also knew New Orleans very well and gave excellent recommendations for after dinner. If we ever end up back in NOLA, this place would be the first stop.

Our waiter was absolutely amazing!!! However, There is a female manager with fluffy hair who was just plain awful. We watched her belittle our waiter infront of everyone. Then we asked if we caused any issues (to the waiter because we felt bad at how this women spoke to him) he was still very kind and assured us everything was fine. The female (who was in the middle of helping our waiter cash us out) just walks away before finishing the checkouts. I’m not sure why we were singled out, we didn’t complain or send anything back. The female was talking about our group very loudly and this was all over us just asking if we could spilt the check. If they told us no it wouldn’t have been a problem, instead she made it very clear from across the room how inconvenient it was. (again, simply asking us to keep one check wouldn’t have been a problem.) I won’t be coming back mainly because I can’t support a business who allows people in authority to treat/speak to their staff that way.

A group of us wanted steak for dinner within a decent price range. Most steak places were $50 or more per person. Luke was reasonably priced and had steak frites. Everyone got it and loved it. Steak cooked perfectly. Great taste and clean no fat or grissel. Highly suggest you substitute the fries for the parm potatoes! Also, the staff was great, answered questions, and made great suggestions. I'm looking forward to coming back when I'm in New Orleans.

Fantastic food along with awesome service and beautiful environment. I had the Wednesday’s lunch special (Grits and Grillade) along with a seafood gumbo and some oysters, and the food definitely knocked me out of my socks. The meat was tender, the flavor is rich, and the oysters are fresh. Just on top of the great food, Molly is ever greater beinb so knowledgebale and warm-hearted. This place rocks!

We were lucky to get a last-minute reservation as Luke was packed on Saturday night. Our cozy table seemed to be secluded but it did not prevent us from hearing a loud noise coming from a graduation (?) party behind a partition next to us. Two servers were bustling our section. None of them stopped by to ask if we liked the food or cocktails ☹ We ordered escargot and bone marrow, ragout of roasted rabbit, and seafood bouillabaisse. The latter was well seasoned and had 2 pieces of nicely crusted bread while the escargots and rabbit’s sauce were too salty. There are only 4 stars today, but we will return for a much better experience when we visit NOLA next time.

If you are not going here you missed out on New Orleans. Try the shrimp and grits and you will never leave. It was so good it made me cry. I died and went to heaven. Door 3 cocktail was very good too. Can't wait to come back here again next time. Staff here is awesome too.

Curtis was an AMAZING waiter. My main complaint is the manager (did not get her name but she had large fluffy hair and wore a pink tie) was blatantly talking bad about our table for asking a split check RIGHT in front of us. I will not be returning to this establishment ever again. Thank you again Curtis for the amazing service! So sorry that your manager decided to act so horribly towards you and our table during our meal.

Here is my conclusion at the beginning: Another restaurant where you cook with love, but only with love for money....🤷🏻‍♂️ - Chicken dish not freshly cooked. Just warmed up and placed on the table half cold - Hamburger also only warmed up and bone dry. Ice cold fries with it. Even Mc can do that. Donald's better. Service: - Completely disinterested - Wrong drinks delivered and it took 20 minutes to bring the right ones - Completely forgot about the reordered drink and side dishes, but they were charged for - After complaining, the wrong invoice was brought again Luckily the manager came at some point and made the whole thing a little more bearable by taking the drinks completely off the bill. Thanks for this. My impression was that mostly oyster eaters come here for happy hour. For someone who cooks (and eats) with love, it might be better to cook a recipe from Mr. Besh's book yourself than to go to one of his restaurants. It's a shame.....☹️ we have to celebrate our wedding anniversary somewhere else👨‍🍳

I fell in love with this restaurant a few years ago when I was at a conference. Recently, I was at another conference across the street and ate here again. The food is still on point! We were a party of 5 without a reservation. They worked hard to give us an excellent table. Cory, our waiter, was a true pro! Attentive, but discrete, knowledgeable and took pride in his work. When just two of us were still eating, he did not clear the table and waited until everyone had finished. This is professional! The food and atmosphere were awesome! The wine and cocktails were great too! Highly recommended.

Our servers Kayzee and Chi were sweet, but there were mixed feelings about the food. Here are the pros - the sauce in the escargot and bone marrow was great... the table enjoyed putting the sauce on Pate and Brussels sprouts. If you like Pate (not really my thing) go for it. It has some great additional toppers. Love the peppered relish with apricot jam and picked watermelon. Someone enjoyed the trout. Shrimp and grits were pretty good. To be honest, the review would be all good, but we trapped a fly in a cup of water and there was a roach walking on a wall. We had a party of 9. They accommodated all of us and split the bill. ♡

NOLA❤️ and food art. My server was super attentive to all the requests of the table Drinks!!! Get them. We also indulge in fine dining and service every time we visit this historic and festive city. Luke is a new stop. Duck is on point. Hog head cheese and the bacon marmalade was awesome. My shrimp and grits was flavored and savory to my delight as my meal was certainly all it should be. Im happy our friends from Baton Rouge frequent Luke often. These kinds of suggestions is why we share a trusting friendship.

Really disappointed with this restaurant but before I go into that; I will say our food in terms of taste was good. If that’s all you care about it’s seasoned well. But that’s about all I can say; my steak came ice cold. It died in the window! But what really peeved me was the odd service we received that I’m still trying to figure out why we were singled out and treated so poorly. Our waiter was nice in tone and manners… seemed normal but didn’t offer us certain things on the menu that people next to us were being offered. Another water serving the table next to us was being told about their amazing in house bread; upon hearing this we ask if we can purchase some. We’re told they’re sold out for the night and there’s no more bread for anyone. Table next to us recieves bread. Then a table behind us sees it, orders one in Spanish and gets bread. Very strange why one waiter can get bread and it’s not sold out but for us it is…. 🤔 we witness other tables getting served, asked questions and so on, but we’re ignored. I was really disappointed my steak came cold as ice but given how the night was going I didn’t think this was gonna get much better by complaining; especially watching what appeared like the manager avoiding our table. Felt off and was really disappointing to be our last dinner in NOLA and our only bad dining experience! Tony my waiters credit, I noticed he was given a lot of side work which others didn’t seem to have to be doing at this end of night service - so maybe he was having a rough night as well. All I know is it’s expensive enough that these inconsistencies shouldn’t exist! Especially telling one group of people they can’t cause there isn’t more and watching the tables next to you, order after you, and get it. I wish it was as easy to paint as a southern race thing but I saw every color and seemed to just be an us thing. Pity. Take your chances here (cause to be fair if it came hot and how it’s intended the chefs seasoned it well) but you’ll likely find any of the neighboring spots to be more hospitable, attentive, and without this sort of discrepancy. I suppose the Luke stands for Luke warm at best...

A charming and beautiful facility. Our duo of servers paid excellent attention to us during our meal with friends. We had the shrimp and grits, the swordfish, the roasted chicken, and the duck and we all loved our dishes. After we split the chocolate cake and the bread pudding. I visited Luke last evening, and it was an absolute nightmare. The moment I sat down, I glanced at the floor and, to my horror, saw a mouse casually crawling around. I made my excuses and left the restaurant without eating a single bite. While waiting for my Uber, I spoke with other diners who had also seen the mouse. The waiters, aware of the situation, casually scooped it up as if it were a routine occurrence. It’s clear that the restaurant is fully aware of this health hazard and chooses to ignore it. Eat there at your own peril!

Luke is a German themed restaurant with some seafood thrown in for good effect. They have some good cold seafood "towers" of various types of shellfish. They offer some changing daily specials with a core selection of consistent items on the menu. It is a very pork heavy menu and there is a relatively small selection of main dishes. They have a few beers that they have specially made for them and they offer some specialty cocktails. My favorite thing to do here is go for the Happy Hour raw oyster special. The oysters used to be 25 cents each but the BP troubles (that caused us to release lots of fresh water into our wetlands and the fresh water, and not oil, killed off a lot of our oyster beds) caused an oyster shortage resulting in the price doubling to 50 cents an oyster but $6 for a dozen is still a great deal. The happy hour goes from 3-6pm and it gets pretty crowded by around 4 so it can be a bit challenging to find a bar stool sometimes. The entrees I've sampled here have been "ok" to good but often the portion size left me wanting more so usually I stick with the oysters and beer.

Disappointing, considering the hotel it's attached to is so fantastic. Took ages to get served or get drink refills. Food was ok but nothing major, and the pate was honestly flat-out terrible. We were seated in the back section, which felt like a throwaway section they forgot about, and saw a mouse run out from the kitchen twice. We joked that it was just Remy from Ratatouille making sure our food was up to par, but honestly this isn't what I expect from a supposedly high-class restaurant, especially given the price. My family went to their breakfast a few days before and loved the shrimp and grits but it seems their breakfasts may be better than their dinners.

The portions at Luke are huge and very tasty. I loved the beets salad which was pleasing to the palette and eye. The raw oysters weee massive, juicy and fresh. They are also a great deal during happy hours. Fried alligator bites and shrimp and grits were good as well though a bit too salty for me. Excellent service and a very cool atmosphere. I own one of John Besh’s cookbook and there were shots of Luke in it, so kind of neat to actually dine at the restaurant.

Awesome place to go for great atmosphere and really tasty food. My wife and I were exploring the area and just wanted a taste of New Orleans. We split an entree of shrimp & grits that literally was the best I’ve ever tasted. The andouille sausage was a pleasant surprise. The bread pudding with the rum sauce and candied walnuts was an excellent recommendation by our bartender. We enjoyed the meal. I highly recommend this place.

Came here and ordered the steak frites. The fries were fine, tasted like your typical shoestring fries. But the steak had absolutely NO seasoning at all. I sprinkled salt and pepper on it, yet it still didn’t help. I asked if they had steak sauce… they didn’t. Extremely disappointed in a steak not having any seasoning or flavor…. I was only able to eat my fries and had to take the steak home to doctor it up.

What a disappointment! First of all our server had major attitude. When she served our appetizer I asked her for our bread order (which btw they charge you for bread) and her response:”I don’t bake the bread so I’ll bring it when it’s ready!” Really ??!! The bread came and it wasn’t “just baked”.. helloooo!! Our Brussels sprouts were totally burnt so we asked for another order which came and they were also burnt!! The tuna tartare was three spoon fulls and the “jumbo” shrimp were small and must have come from a Costco precooked package, tasteless and boring. Very disappointing and for a $100+ bill the food and service were subpar and not worth the effort or $$$ Lots of other places to eat where one is treated better and food is good so don’t waste your time or money eating here. 🫤🫤👎👎👎

Looking at the menu I wasn't impressed, but when I tried the food, I was impressed. An exquisite Creole flavor. You must try the chicken. The waiter is very attentive and the young woman who serves the water is a sweetheart and very careful that your glass does not get empty. I recommend the place.

Popped in for happy hour and got Adelie as our server:) she was great super bubbly and friendly got us everything we asked. We only got a couple drinks and oysters but the happy hour is great and the service is impeccable. Gulf oysters were a little large but still great !

Great food with amazing service. The brussel sprouts are something you have to try for an appetizer, which comes with a Sriracha sauce & feta cheese sprinkled in which I've never had before.. delicious. My main dish was the pork which was juicy and cooked to perfection.

We had a fabulous dinner at Luke and really enjoyed both the food and the service. Our server even went out of her way to give us recommendations for other great restaurants in the area that are locally loved. It’s definitely on the pricey side so be prepared for a little price shock when the bill comes.

Decided to eat at Luke’s on our last night in New Orleans since it was right next to our hotel. Nice atmosphere and good food. Unfortunately, my dining partner’s wallet went missing along with her reading glasses. Don’t know how it happened but it definitely occurred at Luke’s since we didn’t go anywhere else that night.

I finally made it to Luke on this trip to New Orleans! It has been on my to-do list for years but my plans to visited always postponed because I was trying to fit in many activities. The motivation for me this trip was having more leisure time and knowing they have a Happy Hour from 3p-6p and the Oysters are $1.50 each! Let me tell you ‘Baybee’ in my Nawlins drawl…DELICIOUS! The drinks are discounted as well! The favorite of patrons was the French 75! The service was prompt and attentive! The atmosphere goes from chill to festive at the end of Happy Hour…Haahaaa The location is in the warehouse district ..you can take the historic St. Charles Street Car to this destination! See ya next visit Luke!

I was in NOLA for a conference. My co-workers invited me to dinner at Luke. We had a reservation. Seated upon arrival. Our waiter was wonderful. Kept all drinks filled throughout the dinner. Dinner and dessert were amazing. I highly recommend.

05/01/2024: I had dinner with my work colleague at Luke on a Wednesday night. It was bustling in the main area and a little quieter in the back dining room. I haven’t been back to Luke in 4 years and I’m glad I did come back. We had bbq oysters for an appetizer. She had a salad with grilled shrimp and I had the seafood bouillabaisse/pan roast. The oysters were yummy. I could have eaten a dozen of them instead of sharing 4. The seafood bouillabaisse was so, so, so amazingly scrumptious. I almost licked the bowl clean. It came with 2 toasty, grilled pieces of bread to sop up the broth. I probably would have liked rice to eat with it, but the dish was magnificent, nonetheless. Great atmosphere, wonderful service, and divine food. You can’t go wrong with Luke.

We normally eat at Luke at least twice every time we visit New Orleans and it’s always excellent. We do venture out and try other places, but with few exceptions none of them match Luke. The red beans and rice with chicken, shrimp and grits, burgers, oysters, bread pudding are always fantastic. Their service is always spot on as well. We’ll be back again and again.
