I overheard about this place through a conversation and had to try it at the very next day! Made reservations online, we were an hour away, we took the beautiful drive from West. Well worth the drive and we would do it all over again and plan on it! We were about 10 minutes behind because of construction on the road and she still took us in which we really appreciate. Such a quaint beautiful Little hidden gem out in a cow pasture off the highway in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful view! There's even a table outside if you'd like to enjoy the scenery while eating your delicious food. Inside it felt like little Germany even the bathroom felt like I was in Germany. The music playing, the lovely owner of the restaurant waiting on us, and cooking specifically for us felt like we were in our German grandma's home. If you really enjoy authentic German food this is your spot! We will be back again thank you so much for a great wholesome experience and delicious authentic homemade food! Thank you for bringing this to us! Many many blessings to you!

Small place, cozy. Very nice and welcoming. The owner is the hostess, the waiter and also the cook so the service is understandably a little on the slow side. But the food is worth the wait! Absolutely delicious!! And don't forget dessert. So yummy! Definitely plan to be back!

If you don't want any walk-ins and just want to serve reservations only, then advertise it that way or at the very least put it on your entry door. It was extremely rude to complain about serving customers who didn't make reservations to other customers. Enjoy the $70 that you got for 2 entrees and 1 dessert with waters because I will not be spending any more of my money at your establishment.

The food was fabulous! I had the snitzel and bratwurst and my wife had the snitzel with red cabbage. Both were very good. The sauerkraut was excellent also. The meal started off with a salad and bread which both were good. Service was what we expected for a very small mom and pop place. If you are expecting something fancy, you will be disappointed, but it is worth the trip into the middle of nowhere.

I made a reservation for 10, 2 weeks in advance. I confirmed the week of and at no time was informed we couldn't be seated together. Upon arrival, we found out we were seated at 2 tables, one behind the other. My husband and I were able to go back and forth between the tables to be with all our guests. There was laughter and fun at both tables, but I feel we should have been told in advance about the seating issue. Regardless, food was good and a good time was had by all. We'll probably eat there again, but with a smaller group.

My sister and I had a really bad experience here. We're staying in an Airbnb down the road owned by Cobb Properties. We are in town for a charity bike ride in Gatesville tomorrow morning. Our Airbnb listing advertised this quaint German establishment, so, we planned to give it a try. We've been looking forward to the experience for several days. When we arrived at Zur Autobahn, we were asked if we had a reservation, but, not told we needed one. We waited 25 minutes with no service and finally asked for water. In response, the owner said, "I have reservations tonight." Finally, she took our order and brought us water. But, that took another 10 minutes. We shared an entree. When the bill came, there was a $4 charge we were not warned of in advance for the "share plate." I don't know what the "share plate" included. It was not for double sides -- because we paid another additional charge for a second dinner salad and extra bread. So, I guess it was for the extra plate she brought me?! When we questioned the owner, she said, "this is cheap, you won't get this anywhere else". Not true. The brat and steamed cabbage she gave us could have been purchased at the grocery store for probably $3.

Such a cool restaurant! This is the type of place you dream of finding and telling your friends about! Practically in the middle of nowhere, Zur Autobahn is a unique spot and a must-visit. The interior is decorated with automotive memorabilia and car show awards (making this place extra cool for a gearhead like me) and family owned and operated. The first page of the menu tells a great story about how the owners had an automotive company in Germany but Conny always dreamed of opening a restaurant. When they moved to Texas they made the dream a reality! Great homemade German food awaits you here and it's BYOB if you'd like to bring something alcoholic. Stop in if you're in the area or make take a road trip out there (pretty country-side all around). A great and unique experience awaits!

This small out of the way German restaurant is worth the long drive, but falls short in ambience and personality. Server (owners?) not big on conversation. We ordered the dinner for two to sample a variety of their menu items. Schnitzel, rotkraut, and sausage were excellent. Sourbrauten, dumpling and spatzle were ordinary. Daily specials are a great buy, we will be back as this is still the best German food in this area!

Where to begin! Restaurant is a small, 28 seat resturant. We took a chance on showing up without a reservation since we were there at 5 pm when they were opening for the second seating on Saturday. We were warmly welcomed and seated promptly. Lovely German waitperson was friendly and assured us we were welcome. The menu is not overly large but offers a varied array of German dishes. We choose the chef recommended dinner which consisted of a bratwurst and pork loin schnitzel with gravy along with fresh sauerkraut and German fried potatoes and fresh baked brown bread. So good❗️❗️❗️The cherry dessert was a melt in your mouth delight. We are already planning another trip to this delightful gem. It’s a bring your own bottle place but the tea was freshly brewed and refilled many times. German music played softly in the background adding to the atmosphere. If you’re ever close to Meridian/Clifton it’s worth a visit.

We were mapping real estate and decided to drive out of town to this parlor in a pasture for lunch. We anticipated a cheerful setting and an "off-the-charts" meal. The setting was quaint, cozy, and colorful inside and out. Being the only patrons at the time, we were met by a gracious hostess/cook/server who spoke English with a friendly/frank German accent. We ordered from a lunch menu - Frikadelle, salad, Jaeger Schnitzel, and Apfel Schorle to drink. We shared the Blueberry Streusel for dessert. The meal was tasty and authentic, just not OTC. Although it was Friday afternoon, our cost was more in line with what we would expect to pay for a dinner meal. We thanked the hostess, made our exit, and charted a course for home. When driving to a destination out of the way, it probably seems natural to expect more than the usual. Expectations run high when you are hungry and... off-the-beaten path.

I visited Zur Autobahn as a special mid-week treat while exploring Bosque County. The restaurant is actually about 8 miles southwest of Meridian on Hwy 22 and located in a unique little house. The dining room is small, bright, and very pleasant, with four 6-person tables and two 2-person tables. There was only a group of 6 there when I arrived, but it would be good to call for a reservation on the weekends. All the food is handmade after you order, so this is not fast food. A place to relax and visit before a great meal. I had the Jagerschnitzel with a nice mushroom sauce and fried potatoes and they were very tasty. While you wait for the main course, Connie brings a fresh crisp salad and a slice of wonderful homemade bread. Come hungry. In all, a wonderful experience and I look forward to another visit. Cost for the meal, with iced tea was a bit over $20. Recommended for a tasty German meal in a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere.
