You don't go for the ambiance you go for the food...and the food was well portioned, flavorful and reasonable! Definitely recommend stopping by and trying this soulful family run restaurant. Friendly staff too!

Some of the best southern soul food that I have eaten in a long time that wasn't too sweet with the drink or salty with the food. Highly recommend and plan to go back to try some of the other dishes

Hidden gem! One of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. It was juicy, flavorful and perfect size. The fries were amazing…crispy but yet chewy. Will definitely be going back!

Great southern comfort food. We had smothered chicken & smothered pork chops with Mac n cheese, collard greens, lima beans, yellow rice/white rice & corn bread. We took 1/2 our meat & rice home for leftovers. And I ordered a slice of key lime cake to take home. They have different specials everyday too. I've never gone to a restaurant that serves soul food. It was very good and very filling too. So much food, but still so good.

Drove 45 mins to.get there from Fort Pierce and it was worth the drive. Her chitterlings and hogmaws were the truth. The oxtail could've been weather but tasted great! And customer service was amazing! Very impressive because she did the cooking alone.

We chose Mables as an arbitrary place to meet up with friends who were driving across the state. We couldn't have done better. It's a family operated business with great comfort food and friendly staff. We ordered dinner and between the four of us, we had the fried chicken, fried shrimp, and smothered pork chops. For sides we had French fries, Mac and cheese, black eye peas, lima beans, and collard greens. Every one in our party thoroughly enjoyed the food and only one of us was able to finish our meal. The place itself is basic but homey and welcoming. It was well worth the one hour drive to get there. I highly recommend Mables.

Non-chain, small cafe with excellent food. Portions aren't outrageously large, but we still had leftovers. Good, southern style soul food. Fried chicken was tender & juicy with a crispy skin. Save room for dessert or get it to go.

This is the real deal. Friendly staff and homemade food. We were the only customers at 2pm but the food was fresh and tasted just like my Southern grandma made. My daily special (marinated pork steak) was delicious as were all of our sides and my husband's fried chicken. Portions were large and we would definitely come back the next time we are in town. Zero complaints other than wishing I had more stomach space to taste it all.

We're so happy we found this gem of a place! The food is delicious. It tastes like the cooking I remember as a little girl in my grandmother's kitchen. I asked for a veggie plate and got it. If you don't see it on the menu, chances are it's in the kitchen! Go give it a taste, I mean try!

We rolled into Florida yesterday evening and we’re starving. Found Mables just before closing and got food to go. The smothered chicken and rice was out of this world. My husband loved the catfish, and all of the sides were great. I’m particular about Mac-n-cheese and cabbage and these did not disappoint! I woke up thinking about that gravy, I can’t wait to to back!!

Went a year ago for dinner and meal was excellent. This time around not so much. Had very few items on the menu Chicken or Pork chops. I had chicken with three tiny pieces(2wings and a small thigh). Yellow rice was bland and collards were bitter. Corn bread tasted like boxed Jiffy. Asked for gravy and didn't get it till end of meal. My hubby said the chops were good, but Mac n cheese was runny. Waitress was sweet but overwhelmed. Was a bit pricey. Where was the Oaxtail l enjoyed a year ago?

My family ate here for lunch. The special was smothered ribs. We got sides of macaroni and cheese, collard greens, cabbage, limas and the best corn bread ever. Everything was excellent. Hot and served with a smile. We definitely will be back! Took home red velvet and key lime cake. Sooo good. All homemade.

Everything you expect from some southern kitchen… it’s there. Believe me. I went there with my girlfriend that I’ve known for just about a year now. Time flies huh. I love her. Just like I loved the food. I heard about this place from my grandma a while back and never tried it till today. My options were a little limited because I’m pescatarian but that was quite alright with this establishment. So we (me and my girlfriend) walked in there, and just sat down. They eventually saw us and said they’ll take care of us in just a minute, which was no issue. We were just chilling, checking out the vibe and the walls. The walls had decorations similar to my grandmas house. It felt nice and homey. Nice vibe. I liked it. It appeared as though there was only one worker there, doing all the work. Which was pretty cool. Something’s took a lil longer but that just added to the vibe. Which I liked. She gave us a menu (attached below) and it was nice and concise. Me and my girlfriend respectively got shrimp entre with yellow rice and macaroni and cheese and fries and an Arnold Palmer, and the fish entre with yellow rice and Mac and cheese and fried okra and sweet tea. All was very good. Very tasty indeed. Can’t forget about the corn bread. The lady was very nice and actually despite being the only worker took our order and got our food out pretty quickly. The food tasted very fresh and hot. Very nice. Quite the portion of food as well. Didn’t have any room for dessert.. maybe next time.. there will Forsure be a next time because this is my girlfriends new favorite restaurant in Okeechobee. We spent about 40$ excluding tip. Pretty nice pricing for what we got. We’d rather go here than lightseys and lightseys gets closer to double the price.

I love the fried chicken at Mables Place. It is like Grandma use to cook. Nice and crispy on outside and nice and juicy on inside. Cooked to perfection every time.

Brought a friend there once before and he drove out to have lunch at Mabel's. The food and service were good as usual. I also found out that they offer delivery now through Door Dash.

This place was such an amazing find in Okeechobee. Our first time visit and it definitely will not be our last. We got the fried chicken, fresh and very juicy. Fried okra. Collard greens, Mac and cheese with yellow rice. The iced tea was very good. Good size portions. Had to get to go boxes. The waitress was very sweet and attentive. The cook came out to deliver another gentleman's drink refill and saw him praying over his food and he waited until the man was done. To me that says a lot. Very respectful. If you are looking for some delicious southern home cooking this is definitely the place. Thank you for making this a very pleasurable visit.

Meatloaf was great. Loved the Pineapple tea.

The collard greens were good, but the smothered chicken was just fried chicken with gravy. The corn bread was too sweet. The key lime cake was delicious. I found the cost for this mediocre meal overly priced.

Had an amazing experience at Mable’s today. Food and service was great. The price was fitting too! Could not leave without ordering the red velvet cake to go and my friends ordered the key lime cake to go. This was my second visit and we will be returning 👍🏿

Delicious smothered ribs, the corn bread side was excellent. Just disappointed they didn’t have oxtail on the Thursday we were here.

First time trying this restaurant and my wife and I were just blown away by the delicious and hearty food we received. I had the fried pork chop dinner and she had the shrimp basket. Everything, and I mean everything was delicious! The collard greens and macaroni and cheese were especially good. The pork chops were the best I've ever had, period. My wife is not a big eater so I wasn't surprised that she couldn't finish her dinner. But I'm a big guy who knows how to eat and I couldn't finish mine either. Awesome dinner, we'll definitely be going back. If you like good cooking and value for your money, I cannot recommend this place enough.

Two stars, one for the server Brittney was very nice, and the only one taking care of everyone, and still smiling . One for the chicken..tasty. Fries…cold, Mac & cheese… cold. sticky floor, sticky and dirty table covers. Dirty restroom, peeling paint on walls. Refrigerator is an old cooler style in the dining area, and it is dirty…. They were out of most of their food. Which I guess means that they have lots of happy customers.

I will try to take pics before I dive in next time but believe me this is some real down home cooking! I loved my collards, cornbread, fried pork chops ,Mac and cheese and rice and iced tea it was all so delicious. My husband and daughter both had smothered chicken, yellow rice, fried okra,Mac and cheese and rolls and iced tea and they loved everything too. I can't wait to go back the service is awesome and I want to try everything! Also if you are a hungry man the portions are huge, I couldn't finish everything but I about died trying lol.
