If you're vegan or vegetarian, beware... They use bacon fat for their home fries, and maybe other things, since it is on the grill. You might want to check before you order anything. I used to eat there until I discovered that's what they used. I was very surprised. The food is good, though. It's a shame that they use that. So we don't go anymore.

Food is fantastic! Prices are average. This restaurant is known for their muffins. The waitstaff are extremely friendly and fast. Weekends are very busy so you may have to wait but so worth the it.

Very pleasant experience all around! They do NOT use latex gloves in the kitchen, which is super important when one is anaphylactic allergic to latex. Food was delicious! The portions were big, had to take some home. The entire experience was marvelous!!

Always great breakfast or lunch

Seriously, the BEST BREAKFAST place!! No matter where I go, I always compare the food to Maddies, and Maddies always wins! Such good food, great prices, amazing staff. Maddies is still the best place around. I could be biased because it is like my Cheers, where everyone knows my name. I still compare every place to Maddie's and nothing can ever beat it.

Omelets and Benedicts are as bland as can be just like hollandaise sauce, coffee is extremely weak and watery

They forgot to put my order in everyone got there food but me., which took forever btw…everyone was done when I got my food.then for the mistake they gave me a $5 off my NEXT visit! 5$$$ it’s 2024 what is 5$?!? Every other restaurant I’ve been to at least took the item off the bill. Home fries were rock solid and unseasoned, the fruit was old, rest of the food was mediocre at best EXCEPT the tea bread..that was delicious. Which is why I gave the second star.

Reasonably priced breakfast spot. Come and drink coffee while you wait for a table and then get some great breakfast food. The McRose is my favorite sandwiche

My sister and I stopped in for lunch 2 days ago. We both got grilled cheese and wedding soup.,which was delicious and we had a great waitress(Amanda). Will definitely come back.

Now, let me talk about the Mediterranean salad at Maddie's - it was an absolute delight! The freshness of the ingredients perfectly complemented each other, creating a burst of flavors in every bite. The generous portion size left me feeling satisfied and happy. Overall, my visit to Maddie's was truly memorable. Fantastic service from Amanda and a scrumptious Mediterranean salad made it an incredible experience that I won't soon forget. I've been coming here for many years as far back as grand opening. Now, even 45 minutes drive away, I will still rise and shine early just to come here! The atmosphere, food, and service are always so amazing every time. Even takeout is a breeze with their fast coffee bar. Highly recommend Maddies always!

Maddie is a comfort food stop. Variety, Quantity, quality all add up to a very reasonable luncheon date. Be prepared to be overwhelmed with the portions and the presentation is classic diner.

Ordered the lumberjack omelet, don't know if the cook was angry but most of the ingredients didn't end up inside the omelet, forget the hollandaise sauce and the butter on the toast. Home fries were just above boiled potatoes no crisp at all, not as good as it once was hopefully they step up their game $40 for breakfast is getting outrageous.

The food is always excellent, but the wait staff are the best. I cannot say enough great things about the staff.

My husband’s favorite! He is part of the early crowd and today we stopped by after an event, were surprised by the long wait, worth it though. Fast/personable/friendly service and great food.

Not a bagel store by any means. Ordered a everything bagel with cream cheese on it (specifically asked to put the cream cheese on the bagel) and two everything bagels with bacon, egg, and cheese. Paid $22 dollars. Received a plain bagel with cream cheese on the side and two bagels with only eggs. No cheese or bacon on either. Bagel was soggy and awful. Had to toast it to be edible, my kids didn't eat it. Supermarket bagels are better.

Maddie’s is over the top excellent!! The food is always delicious and the service is impeccable! I can’t find any other breakfast restaurant that does as well as Maddie’s. This place is the best in my opinion!!

Great place for breakfast or lunch! Staff was super friendly and courteous. About a 20-30 minute wait for a party of 4 at lunchtime on Saturday in December.

Everything was great! Service and food quality were top notch. Only feedback -Home fries were more like roasted potatoes and cut a bit big. Blueberry pancakes were excellent. Everything was generously portioned and hot. Very busy on late Sunday morning so plan accordingly. There's also coffee while you wait, which is awesome.

Went for a friendly place with nice waitresses to 2 different occasions where the waitresses were overall rude to the customer, even accusing one of spilling coffee even thought they were no where near it. I was a regular but now I won’t be back.

We went on a rainy Saturday morning and it was crowded. Tara greeted us and we got on the waiting list. IT WAS WORTH IT! Loved that we could grab coffee (decaf hot and iced options) and the pumpkin muffin we got while waiting was the perfect partner for the coffee and cool Fall day. Breakfast and service was fantastic and Tara wished us well (by name) as we left. What an awesome human being - she sets the bar for us for the encounters we want to have! Thanks for a great morning :) We will be back soon! Colleen + Jeff

Was back at Maddie's for the first time in a while - and as always it was excellent!! Had the French toast- amazing! And took some bagels and muffins home. Will be back!!

The food here is delicious. The reason for 3 stars is that the restaurant uses an unnecessary amount of single use plastic for seemingly no reason. Want an iced coffee instead of hot? Let's put that in a plastic cup with a lid instead of a normal reusable cup. Want ketchup with your home fries? Let's put a small amount of ketchup in a plastic container with a lid instead of using the bottles it comes in...if the restaurant can move away from the significant single use plastic, my review would be higher. Unfortunately because of this plastic which feels both cheap and inconvenient, I often choose to go to other diners with less desirable food, in favor of a more environmentally conscious approach.

Very popular restaurant go early on weekend or expect a wait. Food is very good as is the service.

We went there with some friends, and all 4 of us got something different. Pancakes, omelet, eggs Benedict, hash browns - everything was fantastic. My woodcutter eggs Benedict was amazing! My wife said her pancake was the best she's ever had! We'll definitely be back

It was once one of the better places to go to Lately myself and quite a few of my friends agree. Hasn’t been to good for a while now. Not sure what is going on Our orders are always coming out cold and not cooked right Sausage links have been awful hash browns are always way over cooked Guess it’s time to start going elsewhere

We were searching for a diner style breakfast restaurant and Maddie's was a home run! Delicious food and great, friendly servers! We liked it so much, we came back for a 2nd visit. Wonderful!

We always enjoy brunch there. There is usually a wait on the weekends but it's never too long, and they let you get coffee to enjoy while you wait either inside or out.

Maddie’s in Salem is a true class act establishment. I frequent here probably twice a week. Each and every time I visit I’m met with the smiling faces of people who love their job, and take pride in what they do. Their entire menu is amazing, prices are spectacular, and their attitude is even better. I will be a customer for life.

Great server, fast turn around, busy but in a good way. Prices were decent, good was exceptional. Was a bit disappointed they didn't have clam chowder (only haddock) but I'll try haddock chowder next time.

I used to love this place. Was a family favorite. Last couple times I've been have been ok. Went on a Tuesday morning, no wait, no rush with tables open. For some reason even tho they weren't closing, was only 10am, the waitress seemed to not want to be there and seemed to not want us there. Figure bad day, ok. What I always loved about them besides the great service was their use of fresh ingredients. I ordered a 3 egg veggie scramble. Got what appeared to be a 1.5 egg scramble . Also looked like some or the veggies were either canned or pre cooked. Anyways , 4 out of the 4 of us walked out hungry, $75 for breakfast. Ask to purchase loaf of their tea bread to go. Bag stapled shut, but felt light. With the way waitress was going I decide to check. Yeah, not a loaf but just 2 small slices that were buttered and fried . Irritated after a $75 breakfast I'm still hungry from. I question the waitress and am immediately blamed for ordering wrong thing and "well that's all she billed me for" so she can fix but has to charge more. I didn't care about the $2 ( just spent 75, whats another couple) Anyways, unhappy waitress , smaller portions than ever before for more money, not fresh ingredients. I never review places like this good or bad. I am just disappointed that what used to be consistently awesome all around place has become average at best 😔.

Came here for Sunday brunch; really happy we waited for a table. Lots of fresh coffee options and delicious diner food. I got the chicken sausage Benedict special (subbed home fries for a hash brown) and my partner got the Irish Scramble. Both great. I liked his a little better but that always happens. Very nice staff. Thanks for an awesome brunch!

Was there for lunch. Great choice and everything was fresh and delicious. Soups,sandwiches and salads. I had pick two...half tuna melt with corn chowder. Easy access from the railtrail!!! (FYI:gift cards can not be used toward tips) A great hometown restaurant.

Great stuff, killer location, friendly fast staff, awesome food. I had the pressed pastrami sandwich on marbled rye. The bread is thick cut and so yummy! It was perfect!!

Had breakfast with the granddaughter, she had the blueberry Mickey mouse pancake with sausage and bacon and I had the sausage scramble with the hollandaise. All of it was good and the service was great.

Their breakfast is excellent We go there from Lowell. Their staff are so nice and food is perfect and you have many options while cost is quite reasonable.

The service was fabulous. Our server was very friendly. We ordered a bunch of items and loved almost everything. The scrambled eggs were unseasoned. But the prices were very reasonable.

I judge my breakfast places by their eggs Benedict and this place is absolutely off the charts. Phenomenal service good food you can't go wrong

I was having an absolutely horrible morning but the moment I felt the atmosphere here I felt a lot better. Cathy was my server and she was very attentive. The food was also really good( and I'm a picky breakfast person) I would definitely return here!
