Best shawarma 🥙 & falafel sandwich in New York area… truly amazing

This is our second time eating here. The food is always outstanding from other falafel places. If you’re looking for a place to get falafel, shawarma or hummus this is the place to go. No question.

Great location, restaurant but the food had a bitter taste to it. Like a bitter aftertaste, hard to explain.

I discovered this place on Google Maps and decided to visit for dinner. My friend had a great experience here before in New York, so we were excited to try it together. I wasn’t expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portions and fresh ingredients. We ordered falafel along with some baklava and chips. Even with my small appetite, everything was so delicious that we finished it all. The baklava was particularly impressive; I’ve tried it at many places, but this was the first time I had such a clean, sweet version without any off-flavors. I can see why it’s popular with families. If I’m in the area again, I’ll definitely stop by!

I ordered takeout on UberEats and specifically said no lettuce and no tomatoes on the app because I get a bad reaction from tomatoes and the store messed up my order and added both and the lady working gave me so much attitude and refused to fix it. She said it’s not her problem and doesn’t care if I have a bad reaction. Terrible service.

Delicious fast-good falafel & shawarma

The food is super delicious, the costumer service was incredible, Chris was very attentive and friendly! I loved it, I'm definitely going to eat here again, I highly recommend it!

Tried falafel Sandwich the first time, bread are extremely cold and dry. No flavor. Sandwich is not tasty at all. I thrown it away after taking three bites. Prob one of the most overrated spot ever.

Ordered chicken Shawarma very tasty and filling. The chicken cubes were juicy and hot sauce is must. Ordered chicken Shawarma without veggies - The Chicken quantity was very little Opinion Tomatoes pieces size should be small, they were size of chicken cubes and next time when I order and tomatoes sizes are same so will prefer without tomatoes.

Crazy low prices! Excellent falafel sandwich! Very substantial amount of lettuce, fresh pita, and of course, fresh tasty falafel. Dolmas we’re a bit on the chewy side. Try the mint lemonade. Very refreshing and not overly sweet.

One of the best Mamoun’s in the area

Having gone to school in Hoboken 30 years ago, I have a special attachment to this town. To see how diverse the eateries there are now is very gratifying. Mamouns IMO is a little jewel in that crown. Had the Shawarma Pita with fries on the side. It was delicious! Clean, no-frills environment with great service. Will go again!!👍

Food was not great. Overload on spices.

The service was terrible, and the person who took my order was extremely unprofessional and rude. When I mentioned that there was something wrong with my sandwich and that it tasted spoiled, he dismissed my concerns. The food made me sick, and overall, the experience was very disappointing. I don’t recommended for anyone

One must eat falafel during visit to Hoboken . The hotel is located along the road. Parking is very difficult on road nearby . Hotel is good and food is testy.

As a middle easterner, I had to give this place a try. I went for the falafel bowl with grape leaves on the side, and mint lemonade for the drink. The falafel tasted pretty good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The veggies, including pickled turnips, compliment the falafel with the tahini sauce. You also get pita bread on the side, so you can make your own sandwich. The stuffed grape leaves were juicy and delicious. The lemonade with mint was refreshing. Overall, it's a pretty good meal for a good price. I would definitely visit again. Edit: tried the lamb shawarma plate with tahini. Pretty good meal. The hot sauce is very hot! A small amount goes a long way.

I recently ordered a vegetarian falafel from your restaurant and was horrified to find a piece of meat in it. My parents, who are deeply spiritual, were visiting us for the first time, and this was their experience. This is incredibly disappointing and unacceptable. Cross-contamination like this is not just a breach of trust for those with dietary preferences but also poses serious health risks for people with allergies. It's shocking to see such negligence. I demand a sincere apology and that you clearly mention on your website if there is a risk of cross-contamination. Alternatively, ensure that proper protocols are followed so this does not happen again. People need to be able to make informed choices, and your current practices are irresponsible. Please address this issue immediately.

Falafel had it's authentic taste

Very bad service from the girl who takes the order, and it is not the first time for this girl. I paid for an order of shawarma on the side and she did not give it to me. When I asked for it, she said in a bad manner that it came on the same order even though the order was normal without any additions, and the same girl was working on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 10:30 p.m. I was ordering two orders of shawarma and fries, and when I ordered tahini, she wanted me to pay extra for one tahini, even though it comes with the order. When I spoke to the manager about that, he was as bad as her and spoke in a bad manner, and he told me that you must pay, so she told me that this comes with the order, and he said, “Indeed.” It is supposed to come with the order, so I told him yes, why do you want me to pay then??? He was evasive in order to defend the girl, and since I own a business, this type of employee ruins any business. This type of employee gives a bad impression to the place, and even though I live next to this place and its customers, I have never and will never visit it again because of this type of bad, sick employees.

I got falafel sandwich and it was the worst so dry a lot of lettuce, i thought i got lettuce sandwich . but the good the falafel was hot and soft

Used to love this place, then it gave me food poisoning. I threw up five times in a night and that's enough to make you never want to try falafels again. Thanks for ruining Mediterranean food for me Mamoun! Giving two stars because the service was nice, and I enjoyed the taste of that poison in the moment.

Mamouns falafel was a staple in my forays into Manhattan Greenwich village.Revisiting my old stomping grounds in 15 yrs,so much has changed. But, I was pleased to find a Mamouns in Hoboken,so .... as I've never been to the one mile city, that was at least a destination. Same quality,in a spacious setting, with a proper bathroom. The shawarma sandwich is wonderful,the hot sauce is not to be trifled with,but a required passage for us americans who would like an introduction to halal type eats.

Good food but workers are KIDS they don't know making food and working with flipflops the smell all around the place . come on hire someone responsible or this is after COVID effect I'm never going back though I've been coming to Mammon's over 15 years

Ordered on Uber eats and all the food came cold, messy, paid for 2 buy 1 get 1 free chicken wraps and was missing the “free” items, chicken was SALTY, lamb tasted old like it was sitting in a fridge and thrown into a pita bread right after. waste of 70$, would not recommend this place at all.

My falafel, hummus and babaganoush were very bitter. Came all the way to Hoboken to be disappointed. I would not recommend.

Decent food. Tahini sauce is a bit too garlic-y. Hot sauce is a bit too hot. Good value for money!

Attention bde first good food with its Mediterranean touch

Only had lamb shawarma plate and it was underwhelming. Pitas were bland and stale. Hoped for better even for a late night snack. Service was quick and attentive. Maybe other dishes would have turned out more positive.

Had lunch in the restaurant today - Falafel Plate and Mint Lemonade with fries on the side. The entree was very fresh and filling. Fries were great. Hot sauce was HOT! (not going to have it again - just a bit too hot for me, personally). 3 main reasons for my 3* rating 1. The music (arabian/middle eastern) was very much compatible with the place but just a bit too loud - made the place feel more like a pub/bar (without the alcohol of course) and unable to have a decent conversation over lunch. 2. The chairs were awfully noisy - they screeched when pulling out to sit down and when adjusting. Jarring, metallic and off putting. 3.We were dining in but the food was served like a take-out - in a brown bag. It would've been great to have paper plates to spread the pita bread, fries, ketchup etc and have a better dining-in experience v/s eating out of the brown bag. Will I go again? Yes - but probably do a take-out and eat by the river side, weather permitting

Love coming here on my lunch break. Food is served quickly and with care. Inside is always very clean and temperate. Can't go wrong with the lamb shawarma and a mint lemonade

Nice location. Street parking only (good luck). Falafel is good but the sandwich is all lettuce, tomatoes, etc and like 2 or 3 falafel pieces.

My go to local spot for falafels! Always fresh and flavorful. One suggestion is to fix the front door that slams constantly!

Ordered the classic falafel sandwich, and it was perfection. The falafel was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and it was packed with flavor. The pita bread was fresh and soft, and the toppings were all fresh and delicious. The staff at Mamoun's Falafel was fantastic. They were very friendly and welcoming, and they were happy to answer any questions I had about the menu.

I eat here a couple times a month. I almost always get a shwarma or falafel sandwich, with pickles, olives, turnips, and hot sauce. To drink I recommend the tamarind juice.

I ordered a waffle sandwich with hummus and it was hard to see the hummus or taste it so I asked the person at the counter and it seemed difficult for them to give me a little extra hummus for it. The food is delicious and I would go back.

I first went to I’ve been going to Mamoun in the Village, NYC since 1976 whenever I’m in the city. The Lentil soup is amazing and falafel, shawarma, humus, tehina on platter or in pita is just out of this world. Mamoun’s Hoboken doesn’t disappoint. Parking is hassle free when I leave the city through the Holland Tunnel it’s 7 minutes away. The price is right. The blend of aromatic spices and tastes are mouth watering and memorable!

Been years since I had Mamoun's ... loved that it was halal. Back in the day they had switched to being non-halal. The chicken tikka on salad was nice, hit the mark.

Okay, but just not as good as MacDougall or New Haven. Wish they served Kafta or shish kebab like the originals. Very limited options and the place has very little atmospheric charm. Good falafel, but it isn't Mamouns.

We drove from Newark to this spot! We heard it was the best around. I’m used to street carts. This was so much better! They had a big menu to choose from. The service was amazing. The food came out so fast. The place became packed by the time we got our food and sat down. Try it for your self!

Its a limited menu, but that's no criticism--youre here for falafel and falafel-adjacent food. I've had the "Classic" and "Bleecker" sandwiches--bit excellent. Generous portions and what seem to be good-quality ingredients. Fast preparation and an efficient system. The vast majority of the business seems to be delivery/takeout so there's always a seat and the space is clean. Always a reliable option.

Not the best falafel sandwich I've had, but good enough. They give you some chili sauce in case you want to make it a bit spicier. Service was friendly and efficient.

Lamb is totally over cooked for hours. some pieces are drier than beef jerky if you can imagine. Food quality control is probably the issue. If the cook meat is not sold for long period of time, it should go straight to the trash bin, not your customers plate. I’m not a picky eater, but the lamb plate is real disappointment. Oily rice, too much salt on everything except salad. Management needs to have better control on food quality.

First time customer. But will definitely be back. I had the falafels and they were delicious. I have tried falafels from a lot of restaurants and none beats my neighbors, but this one is competition. It's moist and flavorful. I love it.

We have visited this Mamoun's Falafel outlet a couple of times and the food has always been tasty and authentic. We have always opted for vegetarian options.. they have quite a few choices and they are all really good!

Really the best Schwartz and falafel you're going to get anywhere. The spiced tea and mint lemonade are winners. I had the mango juice last time and found it very refreshing. If you like eggplant, their baba ganoush is absolutely amazing.

I was so excited to eat from the famous mamouns but in jersey. My mouth was watering remembering how good it tasted in the location by NYU. Much to my disappointment, this is nothing short of an utter disappointment and a total waste of money. Just got my uber eats order - falafel, hummus, sharwarma platter , falafel sandwich. Falafel is bland. Falafel sandwich was tasteless. Sharwarma was too salty and my bf had to go ahead and make his own rice. The bread was ok but I bake bread and I can say it didn't taste like it was made that same day. Every condiment had an underlying bitter taste. The hummus was also bitter and 5 minutes after eating i have a stomach ache. I am just so disappointed, terribly disappointed . I'll just stick to my NY location

It’s almost 2024, please have employees wear hairnets. People are spending their hard earned money on this food.

I had falafel, hummus and pita chips Falafel was okay Hummus was okay The pita chips were stale and soggy. When I asked them, if they had a fresh batch, they flat out refused No and that they wouldn’t change it, and seemed visible rude and upset that I would even ask for it You’ll get much better food for $20-$25, in any of the similar restaurants in the area.

This place is 🔥. Didn't know what to expect, but saw the menu and got a little excited, then once the food came, it did not disappoint. The mango drink was on point too. I had the lamb shawarma with seasoned rice and salad. Would have taken a pic, but was hungry and excited. Next time. Go try it tho.

Service was quite quick and ambience was really good! I ordered some falafels and they were on par with some of the best I have had. The falafel was moist and fresh, which we enjoyed with tahini and hot sauce!

Really great place to eat or pickup. Everything on menu is good and healthy. Reasonable prices for excellent quality. I walk past 100+ restaurants to eat here at Mamouns Falafel.

Inedible sludge. Everything was overly salty. Chicken was super dry. The hummus was mostly tahini sauce. Wound up just throwing it out.

I like eating at this local restaurant by my house. The place is very clean, staff is efficient and friendly, and the food is really good. If you want to eat something light on your stomach and healthy-ish, this place is it for you.

Can't go wrong with Mamoun's Falafel. When craving Mediterranean food, there are different options here to choose from, whether you dine in or take out. You have the option to order a staff member or self order at the front. I love eating the Chicken Kebab plate. You can modify your food in case there is something you don't want in your meal. Everything on my plate is tasty and delicious, I love their homemade pita dipped in hummus. The times we have come here, we usually dine in and finish our food later at home. If you need to have leftovers, I recommend no more than one day. Fresh is always better. Leftovers won't taste as good past the day. Service is good, and all forms of payment are accepted. Hoboken is horrible with traffic. Just be mindful of all signs. It's always a pleasure to come back to Mamoun's.

Ordered delivery for several items on their menu for my family, and unfortunately, all of them tasted bad for the price we paid. There are plenty good Mediterranean food trucks in Jersey City which sell much better food for a half of the price. Expected to enjoy their food, but got disappointed instead 😔

The OG Falafel brand! Been visiting the Greenwich Village location for years. Hoboken is the icing on the cake!
