Mediocre food in a decent setting. Shared 4 dishes, not one wow.

I went to Mario’s Osteria for the first time since the pandemic tonight with my sister and our friend. The establishment was clean and provided a warm ambience indoors. Outdoors is also lovely, but it was raining so it was covered. The restaurant was bustling but we were able to get seated right away thanks to the efficiency of the staff. Bridget was our waitress and she was very kind and attentive throughout the meal. We started with zucchini frittes, along with garlic knots and breadsticks. For entrees, I ordered the butternut squash ravioli, which is a favorite of mine. My sister and our friend split the chicken parmigiana meal. Everything was very flavorful and the presentation was lovely. The chicken parm is a large portion size, so it’s best for sharing! Overall, I loved my return to Mario’s Osteria, and I can’t wait to be back! Update, one year later: we went again to Mario’s and once again, it did not disappoint! This time, I went with my sister and father, and even though the restaurant was busy, we got a lovely table right away. Carlton was our waiter and he was attentive and friendly throughout the entire dining experience. We once again started with the zucchini frittes, and tried the meatballs, which were absolutely delicious and well paired with marinara and ricotta. For the entree, I once again had the butternut squash ravioli, and my sister and father split the shrimp parmesan and the melanzana mozzarella stack salad, both of which had impeccable presentation and delicious taste. I am happy to report Mario’s Osteria is as wonderful as it has ever been, and I excitedly await my return.

Went for a family dinner and I am VERY dissatisfied all around. Every dish swims in what tastes like bitter jar sauce. The Mini $20 pizza was soggy and flavorless. We ordered several items and I can’t say I was happy with any dish, zero flavor at all. Not authentic by any means, and in my opinion really insulting to Italian food especially for the price. No kids menu, why? The snarky attitude of almost every staff member was such a turn off! The floor manager was cold and silent when he came by the table with an attitude after some water spilled and he was asked to clean it, and every other person encountered was not friendly just sullen faces, leaving much to be desired. Service also lacking, as plates from appetizers sat on the table till the end of the meal all stacked up. Server turned us away from many dishes saying they weren’t his favorite, “meh”, which was discouraging and surprising since they have such a high rating. As for atmosphere, if you sit outside be prepared for lots of noise with plates being slammed in bins behind the bar, and loud patio chairs being dragged or run into, and plenty of mosquitoes by night fall. Waste of my money and I will not return. Not recommended. Very unhappy with food and the experience.

My first time at Mario’s in Boca and it was a great choice. I experienced the snapper with such delight. Light and tasty Cesar salad and for dessert—cappuccino. I will be back! Not my best photos because I was hungry.

Seafood should not be sold here. Sent back the clams because it tasted like rubber. Ordered another dish and it came with the same clams which I had just sent back. The lobster was 3 inches long. The crab legs had no meat and calamari.

Mario's continues to be a standout Italian restaurant. The restaurant's warm, inviting ambiance, coupled with impeccable accessibility, creates a welcoming atmosphere for all guests. Our recent visit was no exception. The outdoor patio, adorned with twinkling lights, provided the perfect setting for a relaxed evening. The generous portobello appetizer, with its rich, earthy flavors, could easily have been a satisfying meal on its own. The standout dishes, however, were the classic Italian favorites: the chicken scarpiello, with its tender, flavorful chicken and robust sauce, and the crispy, golden chicken parmigiana. The snapper Vesuvio was also a delight, with its flaky white fish complemented by a bright, tangy lemon-caper sauce. The calamari and octopus appetizers offered a delightful prelude to the main courses, with perfectly cooked seafood and a light, crispy batter. While service has been inconsistent in the past, our server, Hillary, was a shining star. Her friendly demeanor and attentive service contributed significantly to our enjoyable experience.

By far my favorite restaurant in the area! Any time I go to Boca I go to Marios- and my husband has been going for 30 years. The best lasagna I have had short of Italy itself!

Mario's Osteria was excellent. I went there lunch time and there were quite a few people. The menu was rich, the food tasty with fast service as well. Pleasant and welcoming atmosphere.

I was very disappointed with this restaurant. I made reservations, and we were seated right beside the service station. People in line behind us had no reservations, yet they were given better seating. It was very annoying for a number of reasons, the worst of which was listening to the staff bickering loudly about everything. The Manager addressed our complaint by explaining how busy they were and gave us a single complimentary dessert for the five of us!!!

Dear Mario’s Osteria, I am a regular customer at your restaurant and have always appreciated the quality of the dishes you offer. However, I recently had a very disappointing experience. In my last order, I received gnocchi that was clearly not the same as the one I usually get from your restaurant. It seemed like store-bought gnocchi from Walmart instead of the traditional homemade gnocchi that you usually serve. I was very surprised and upset by this situation. I contacted the manager, Shona, to report the issue, but she denied any difference, claiming it was the same gnocchi as always. To demonstrate my dissatisfaction, I took a photo of the gnocchi received and am attaching it here, as it truly does not match the usual quality I expect from you. Best Happy Hour menu in the area. Food is outrageous and service is impeccable. Will be bringing my family as soon as possible. Absolutely delicious 😋

I think you deserve 1 star if you're an Italian restaurant that can't cook a decent pasta Bolognese. However, the drinks were good and the service was good.

2 guests arrived and were seated, not offered a beverage. Then, the rest of us arrived and one person asked for a drink and the waiter was so in the weeds ( working outside and inside ) with a busy station. 15 minutes later the rest of the table received drinks. We asked for bread, 10 minutes later. If the waiter knew anything about the business, we would ALL be on our second drink, upping the bill, and his tip. 2 people ordered the same dish, but one had to wait an extra 10 minutes. Once again we asked for bread, no offering of drinks until we were almost done eating. The food was fabulous, the waiter couldn't handle his station being outside and inside. In spite of his service everything was wonderful

This place is incredible. Pricy but par for such a restaurant. And actually a place with service that equals if not exceeds quality of food.

Do not eat outside. You will be swatting big flies rather than enjoying your meal.There was no table to seat us inside. The manager just gave a response nothing we can do we will turn on the fans.He then added this is south florida. This establishment is not cheap. There is no excuse to not bur citricel candles.

The pizzas are delicious, but the pasta, penne bolagnase, was okay. I will say, though, the pasta portions are huge! Yummy garlic rolls. The service is always fabulous. Huge restaurant with tons of seating indoors and out. There are also fullbars inside and out.

Food was very salty I’m assuming it was a manger very very rude will never go back. Food wasn’t very good either. Service was great.

The restaurant had a beautiful atmosphere. We visited for happy hour, only available at the bar until 6 PM. The food was incredibly delicious - the garlic rolls were irresistible. My partner's chicken Parmesan was fantastic, a generous portion and one of the best he's ever had. I tried the grilled calamari, which was a tad salty but still tasty. As it was off-season, the restaurant wasn't crowded. While the bar staff didn't seem overly friendly, the supporting staff provided exceptional customer service. The food arrived promptly, and we found ourselves enjoying appetizers and main courses simultaneously. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I found a real Italian style food (not from NY) which I love.

I received a gift card for Mario’s and enjoyed a dinner with my friend. My server, Debbie C, was the best and right on top of things . We’re enjoyed the short ribs at her suggestion which was an oversized portion and very good. The garlic rolls were to die for!

Bad sevice, Terrible quality of food, Large portions. So essentially you get alot of low quality food that takes forever to come and after you receive the food the bad service continues. After COVID-19 the place went down hill. Will never go there again.

It's been several years since we went here in hopes it has improved. Not. I ordered skirt steak, med. Rare and my friend ordered it med. Well. So he got mine and I got his. To late after 1 bite returned it. My wife ordered the chicken on the bone and returned it because it was to tough. My new stake came back and it was so chewy I hate to return it again. We were a party of 6. So 50% of meals returned. They did them off the bill. The Manger was also a little hard of hearing. I had to repeat myself 3x. The waitress could not answer several questions. Would you go back, I think not, like us.

We had our daughter’s college graduation party with a group of 20. The food was amazing, service on point. We opted for the family style package and there was enough food for probably 40. Thank you for a memorable afternoon. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend it!!!

This place is terrible. We ordered good and it was delivered with a huge fly in it!!! When we called yhe store the manager said that's nature and perfectly natural to find a fly in the food. Did not even apologize for the inconvenience and filth of it. The fly is huge not a little fly either. Bica should be more upscale looks can be deceiving disgusting place. If you don't like time eat bugs don't eat here

I’m shocked: ordered a Rigatoni Pasta through Uber eats. Order arrived in a timely fashion. As I take my lid off the pasta I notice a FAIRLY LARGE INSECT (fly) melted into the cheese and sauce of my pasta, parched perfectly atop of one of the pasta noodles. Called the store and they let me know “it’s Mother Nature man. Sometimes there is nothing we can do about bugs getting in here” ….. ummm yeah, NO. That is not an acceptable answer for a restaurant to provide a consumer regarding the quality of their food. I lost all appetite from eating at Mario’s Osteria ever again KNOWING that Mother Nature has the potential to intervene on the food orders being served to the customers. I’m certain there are PLENTY of Italian restaurants in Boca that would love to serve me food without bugs. Thank you.

Went to Mario’s Osteria based on a friend’s recommendation and was not disappointed. My partner and I feasted with everything tasting like the freshest ingredients. Our server Carlton was most hospitable & kind making sure we have everything we needed to enjoy our dining experience. Highly recommend!

OMG. We came back after having lived in Boca in the early 90s. We would go here back when it was the original. Under the current owner it has not missed a beat. The food is plentiful and fantastic. I had the chicken parm and my wife had the short rib. The original salad is amazing and just as we remember it. And yes the garlic rolls are always a requirement.

Been going here for years at lunch enjoying the outside bar. Last couple of visits have been mediocre at best. Food was lukewarm, rolls were cold, and may be a day old. When I walked up, I asked the server if they were open, she gave me a blank stare and did not know. She said, what time is it? things went downhill from there. The rolls are one of the simple things they did an awesome job on. Not so much in the last couple of visits and again two rolls for two people made me laugh. I’m happy to pay for them if there is a roll shortage in Boca. Taking this off my occasional list as it’s not anywhere near what it used to be.

We went to the bar at Mario’s because J. Alexander had a one-hour waitlist. The weather in Boca was beautiful tonight, so it was a lovely evening to dine outside. The bar was not busy. So my husband and I sat down and ordered two glasses of Chianti, the house wine. Not a tall order to fulfill. They delivered the two glasses at around 7:30. I had to ask for a glass of water, which at most restaurants is a given, and they did not even ask, so I thought that was odd but no big deal. We both finished our wines at about 8:00 P.M., and sat at this half empty bar with empty wine glasses. Finally, I pointed out to the blonde bartender, simply by gesturing when I got his attention, that my husband and I had both been sitting with empty glasses as he chatted up a couple of young girls at the bar. The bartender was very nice, responded immediately, and offered me a free drink. I don’t need a free drink, I just need a drink at a bar, but he was nice to acknowledge that there was an issue. I thought things were looking up. So he left, and the dark-haired waiter was at the bar just chatting with other employees. Our food arrives. It’s 8:30 now, and I have finished my gnocchi, and my husband has finished his spaghetti and meatballs, and we have had empty glasses again for no less than ten minutes. My very quiet and low key husband finally asked for two to-go boxes. The waiter aggressively asked if there was a problem. I told him the truth. There is a problem; they are not good at their job. We sat at a bar for all of the right reasons; we wanted cocktails. The bartenders simply need to refill our glasses and ask if we need anything. No more and no less. The fact that the bartender took offense that my husband asked for to-go boxes after we had to beg for their attention TWICE just to get two glasses of wine refilled in an hour and a half is ridiculous. There wasn’t even anyone at the bar but three older ladies beside us, one couple, and one lady dining alone. You can’t even be asked to offer people at the bar drinks? My mind is blown. Maybe Mario’s could tell the bartenders they hire what the main purpose of being a bartender is. Just a suggestion. I cannot imagine how much revenue this restaurant loses due to poor basic customer service. Pathetic.

Great service. family portions. not happy if they put in the menu you are getting "Snapper" then the manager comes and tells you its yellow Tail Snapper and you are actually eating Basa / swai fish. After been a fisherman for over 30 years I think I can tell the difference by now. Manager Sandy call me , I give him a lot of credit. Changing my rating to 3 stars . Hope that they can correct the problem.

Super happy hour. Need to sit at the bar so plan to arrive early. Not supposed to be allowed to take home any unfinished Happy Hour food purchase. Unfinished main menu salad purchase allowed for take-away box with lots of extra room.

How do you begin to write a review on a popular restaurant with delicious italian food but poor management? Such was the case tonight at Mario's Osteria in Boca Raton. Fifteen plus people arrived for what was supposed to be, as usual, an organized group dinner. Reservations were made and confirmed not once, but twice, with the owner. We were offered one round table that could seat no more than seven. (We are still trying to figure out why eight couldn't sit there.) The remaining people would have to split into groups and sit at separate booths. What kind of a group dinner was this? Bear in mind, this is a large restaurant which could easily have accommodated the entire group together. I know, because, I attended an 80th birthday party there last year and we sat at one long table. What was their problem? Was this seasonal discrimination? One woman at the round table got so frustrated, she took her drink and joined a group at the bar. Another man had a long face and said he'd never go back even if the food was 5-star! I really hate writing this review. I've always been a fan of Mario's but, this evening was disappointing and definitely left a bad taste in my mouth! Like the gentleman across from me said, "there are plenty of other restaurants in Boca that go out of their way for you." I truly hope that Mario's will do better to work out the management issues 'cause I sure am going to miss their eggplant stack!

Great restaurent and food is always good! It has become one of our favorite places to go and we travel far to get there! Def worth the drive! Our server we have had before! She needs to be happier as she’s a pretty sour and person! All in all o poo effect evening!

The waitress was very sweet and very helpful, the Food was delicious and the portions were large we had to take some food home. Decor was modern but tasteful, it was busy but the noise was tolerable. All in all it was a very good experience and we will definitely go again.

We always go to happy hour, it’s wonderful! Tuesday night we came to eat dinner at 8:30, by 9:30 they turned the lights on real bright, started to sweep, it was obvious they wanted us out! We asked for fried dough ( they are known for, was told no because they turned the fryers off! We brought guest for the 1st time, we were so embarrassed!!!!

We were seated in a booth. Seats were too low . I was able to get 2 pillows to be comfortable . My friend had to sit in a chair on the aisle . In my opinion , the booths need to be replaced .

This is one of our favorite restaurants. The menu is extensive, and there are choices for vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians and carnivores. We’ve always enjoyed the food. We bring company there often. Everyone enjoyed their meal when we last went. The noise level depends on whether you sit inside where it is very noisy outside. Where is very comfortable

Mahi Mahi was not good. Tail of fish instead of fillet of the fish.

Best white pizza my wife has had in 10 years ( Earned big brownie points) My baked spaghetti was awesome and portion was large enough for a second meal. Kristen gave us superb service and care. I can’t wait to come back and try the Mario’s special.

The lemon chicken was so salty, it was inedible. The Gorgonzola salad was unremarkable. Only 2 tomato wedges and very little endive. Mostly chopped romaine. The Gorgonzola tasted like Parmesan- it was so finely grated.

Very Disappointed. Three Customers. Two had the Chicken Parm. Although both had large portions, the Chicken Parm was served "Luke" warm and some parts were cold. This also was the case with the side pasta. This was our first visit and our last.

Mario's Osteria is consistently good. Sometimes a dish is very good and sometimes good. But you can always get a good meal here in a nice atmosphere with on-par prices. Last night, very good to excellent were: pizza, shrimp fra diablo (spelling?), a special veal chop on bone (was overdone first time- the re-cook was tender and good). Servers are always nice, service generally good, but can be a little slow- plan to relax- with a mishap here and there (cold potatoes).

The food at Mario’s is always excellent. Last visit the service was not great. Maybe our waiter was having a bad night. Either way always a great meal at Mario’s!!

I stopped at Mario's for the first time this past summer with my cousin, Jane. Our bartender Chris made us some delicious Expresso Martinis and we also enjoyed the Zucchini Fritte appetizer. Wonderful atmosphere and excellent service. #realtorChERIE

We were lucky enough to have Cyril helping us. He is a professional waiter from top to bottom. Started with 2 apps which were a Caesar salad and Calamari. I had Orecchiette with Broccoli Rabe & Sausage. The Mrs had a Roasted Chicken and the other couple Chicken Scarparillo. Everyone loved their dinners and the entire experience. Other spots can learn alot from this place.

Mario’s was highly recommended to us and we dined there last night with our out-of-town guests. We were all very pleased with the service, food and the friendliness of Rio and the wait staff. We will be back!
