Met the owner who is one of the sweetest ladies! She told us all about the coffee. As someone who finds and loves local coffee places, Maven was by far one of the best. Creations with Colombian coffee straight from the source. The ingredients are well thought out, simple and taste amazing. One of the highest quality cups of coffee I’ve had!

Visited here on a recent trip to Wilmington. You can tell they take Pride in the quality of their coffee and lattes. The chocolate cherry truffle latte was excellent. With just a touch of sweetness. The ambience is OK, limited seating. The portions are very small for the price. I may have an 8 ounce

As someone who doesn't drink coffee, it's been a phenomenal experience visiting Maven. I got the campfire latte thinking "for 8 dollars this coffee better change the trajectory of my life" and it definitely delivered like Moses parting the Red Sea. First time I've seen a coffee shop give its drinks aromatherapy too.

Came looking to get a matcha latte and while it was not on the menu, they provided ceremonial grade matcha that was absolutely delicious. The owner was very friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgable about the menu and bakery items (that she made herself to compliment the coffee on the menu). Truly an unforgettable coffee experience and will definitely come back to this shop when visiting Wilmington again!

Lovely shop with amazing coffee

I only leave reviews when they are impactful; negative or positive. I just have to say, this is definitely a coffee shop to go to. The customer service is phenomenal, and the coffee tastes heavenly. The choices are endless in coming up with specialty drinks that make you think twice about leaving. I ended up creating a new custom drink and named it the Berry Bonfire Brew. Highly recommend this shop for all coffee lovers.

We visited twice while in town. Some of the most amazing coffee i have had. The 1st barista was a wealth of knowledge and made amazing drinks. The 2nd was the owner who was so passionate. He Is all about the experience! I experienced coffee in a way i cant put into words. It was so good! I wish I did not live 9 hrs away

The coffee alone would warrant this place 5 stars. Add in a barista who loves what he's doing and wants to share all the fun information about Maven's coffee and you have a can't-miss coffee shop. It was accurately described to us as "like a wine bar for coffee."

Wow! It is rare to ever find a coffee shop like this. The owner was working when we came in and was extremely knowledgeable on all of the coffee. They roast all their beans at their other location. For the pour over you can do any of the beans that they have available, providing a wide selection. Very well-balanced cup of coffee. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Wilmington!

Stopped by Maven while passing through Wilmington after reading some reviews. We had actually passed it already and turned back to find it. It was well worth the detour and well worth every cent. This was by far the smoothest flat white I’ve ever had. Don’t second guess going here , just do it! You will be glad you did.

Even though espresso was served in a paper cup, it is of very good quality and prepared with the greatest care. Nice service and a good atmosphere to sit down and just relax.

Wow, Maven knows what’s up when it comes to coffee. A Reddit search showed us that this is regarded as the best coffee in Wilmington and they weren’t wrong. Nicolas (the owner) was so friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time chatting with him about coffee and learning about everything that goes into their business. Maven is also dog friendly and our golden retriever pup loved hanging out in there! We got a pour over with their “competition beans” and a vanilla lavender latte. Both were next level amazing. There’s some seating both indoors and outdoors. If you are a coffee lover and looking to be blown away by an expert at the craft, PLEASE try Maven. We can’t wait to come back.

Wow. This was the best place to stumble into on my way through Wilmington NC! My mum and I still dream of the s’mores and tiramisu lattes… to say I was impressed would be an understatement. 💕 I am looking forward to my next trip to Maven.

Some of the best, if not the best coffee in town! Nico doesn't just sell coffee, it's always a presentation and art. Every single one of their signature drinks are delightful and you can't miss no matter what you end up ordering. We also buy our beans from here for our at-home espresso maker.

I tried the red velvet latte and it did not disappoint! This tiny coffee shop is hard to spot but definitely worth the look. You can customize every point of your drink even down to the coffee beans. The service was great and the coffee even better. The only drawback is the size of the drink for the price point. However, the quality makes it worth it.

Absolutely impressed. We went on a day when they were closed unexpectedly (planning week, but had no idea). The owner was so friendly and offered to make us drinks despite being closed. The location is adorable and well organized. Their coffee is tasty and the perfect temperature. I’m excited to try more of their blends. Owner was knowledgeable and provided information on sourcing, quality, and future plans for other locations! I look forward to taking a class here in the future. Very impressive!!

Great coffee. Super friendly barister. They let you choose the coffee you want them to brew which is kind of cool. Apparently, Julia of Little Loaf makes Cannelles for them as well!!! Definitely give them a try!

Man, I can't tell you how long I've waited for a coffee shop like this in Wilmington. Next level coffee with a focus on world class beans instead of just making cool/pretty drinks. They also have great brewing equipment if you're in need. Origami Drippers, Comandante hand grinders, etc. If you're a coffee nerd, hit this place up for sure.

The owners are passionate about high quality coffee and source from Colombian only. Family owned and operated. Coffee is delicious! They also offer classes.

One of the best coffee shops I've been to! The coffee is great, and they even work with farmers in Colombia to get the best beans to roast. The barista I spoke with was super friendly, and was happy to explain everything about the coffee. I will definitely be back!

This isn’t just coffee—it’s an experience. We were walked through the entire process of the making of our drinks, from where the ingredients originated to the actual routine of preparing an excellent coffee beverage. So much time and passion were dedicated to our drinks, and I could taste it in the finished product. I highly recommend Maven Coffee to anyone who appreciates the artistry that goes into crafting a delicious cup of coffee.

How do I put into words how much I loved going here? Practically impossible but I'm willing to give it a shot. I just went there for the first time about five minutes ago, but I wanted to leave a review now because everything about the experience was next level. They don't view coffee as "just coffee" they view it as an art form and it shows. The ingredients are all top quality and sourced with such thoughtfulness, and that care truly shines through with their coffee. You could tell that the gentleman who helped us and made our drinks truly loved and was passionate about what he did. He genuinely wanted us to have a good experience here and we absolutely did! I wholeheartedly recommend Maven Coffee and hold this business and the people who work there in the highest regard.

These folks serve coffee of the highest level. There isn’t any better, anywhere. For pure coffee aficionados/loonies, welcome home. Note: this isn’t a breakfast joint with pastries, etc. It’s more like a wine shop for coffee. Top notch, world-class.

Best coffee ever! The owner is extremely educated about coffee and I always learn something new. He pays impeccable attention to detail, which is evident in every cup and truly makes for a luxury tasting experience. You can’t go wrong with any of their lattes or pour overs.

Kudos to Maven Coffee. I got the red velvet latte and it was good but I feel like it’s just that. Just good. I think the artistry that goes into it is fantastic, but I believe they are selling an experience and aesthetic rather than coffee. They are making a wine tasting environment for coffee. Which, admittedly isn’t bad. It’s just not what I look for. I very much look for a communal, sit down and chat coffee shop. I think for a quick on the go cup it’s fine, but don’t think it’s a sit down place. It’s an every once and a whole place not everyday pick me up cup of Joe. Overall good, but not my taste.

Great coffee, unfortunately had to dock some stars because I was told by the girl working there they were open 8 30-4 on a Friday and I go there at 2 pm and they were closed. Pretty frustrating because my wife was eager to try a latte they had and only had her lunch break to try it and was risking being late getting back. Oh well I guess

Amazing coffee and even better staff. I am so glad that my husband and I came across Maven. This is seriously the best coffee I have ever had, from their specialty lattes (tiramisu is amazing), a cup of plain black pour over, the staff are INCREDIBLY knowledgeable about the coffee they are creating and truly make it an art. They are so friendly and kind (Ashley is the best! And so is the owner, both super nice people.) Definitely check them out.

I just went to Maven for the first time with my boyfriend and I had the best experience. I am very picky about coffee and I also don’t know a lot about what I like so that makes me an indecisive customer! But, Ashley, the barista took her time to explain the process of what goes into each drink, help me choose what fit my palate, and was EXTREMELY kind, patient and knowledgeable when helping me choose my drink. She even took the extra time to remake me a shot when the first one she did was not as good as it could be for the drink I ordered. She took the time and put in the effort to make a quality drink, it is easy to see that she has a passion for service and coffee. I wouldn’t even call her a “barista” she is far beyond that. Almost like a coffee “mixologist”. Thank you Ashley for the wonderful experience. I will definitely be back.

Best coffee beans in Wilmington hands down.

I rarely leave 5-star reviews - but Maven Coffee is absolutely deserving of such a review. I just went with a standard latte and it would have shined in a coffee mecca like Seattle - let alone in Wilmington, North Carolina. Praises to Nicholas who performed a bitter-less and nutty extraction!

Really exceptional coffee. I've never encountered anyone more passionate about truly excellent coffee than the very hands-on owner. Even black, their coffee is remarkably good (apparently coffee isn't supposed to taste burnt??), and I don't even like black coffee. More my speed, their coffee drinks are revelatorily phenomenal. Wilmington has several nice cafes and small batch roasters, but Maven makes the best coffee and hosts the best coffee experience of any town I've ever been in.

I am originally from Maryland but always make time for Maven when I visit. The campfire latte was a Michelin star experience! Worth every dollar for the passion put in every cup!

The BEST coffee experience I’ve ever had, globally. These guys are precise and you can tell it’s a level above the rest and yet it feels like you’re a student of their art in there. Love it!
