Lived in Chicago most my life. Moved away and was returning with family to share sone of the best food around. The Maxwell St Polish is one of my favorite... always will be. A must have while in Chicago.

Great for a quick bite! Can't go wrong w some hot food topped w flavorful grilled onions. Just make sure you don't have to be around too many people cuz the onions are loud! (But worth it) Great place to grab a polish or a burger after a lit night before!

Food good as usual. I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. Only problem I had was one of the cooks had my bacon in his bare hands putting it on the grill.

I went inside looking for a regular maxwell stand. They were okay but they only had hot dogs, polish sausage, porkchops, and burgers. The menu was pretty basic. The food was outstanding

Been living in the Bridgeport area for 15+ years and only discovered this hidden gem recently. Food is cheap, get a meal for under 5 bucks. Me and my friends love coming here after a long day out.

Cash only, open 24/7, and the finest polish sausage in the city. This Maxwell street saves lives. Fries are mediocre but the sandwiches are fire every time. Get the onions on your order oh my god they have been cooking forever and are so damn good. On site ATM and big parking lot but they prefer if you get your food and hit the bricks- no loitering! 😉 Most stuff is like $6, make sure to tip the guys!

The definition of comfort food. Even at 11:00 at night, everything was fresh and absolutely delicious.

No seasoning on any of the food very bland. Got charged for two orders of fries even though I asked for no fries with the hotdog.

I placed my order and proceeded to pay but it was Cash only! So I hit the atm on the side of their stand. I was totally disappointed with their dry polishes and stale fries. I really wanted to enjoy their food as I was hungry but was genuinely disappointed. I may try a puff or a burger next time but for now the polishes are off the menu for me. Nice gentlemen working the counter and more than enough parking.

Still a great place for a Maxwell Street polish with lots of grilled onions. I personally love the double cheese burgers and fries. My burger is made with ketchup and mustard. I can't handle the onions. My best friend loves the boneless pork chop sandwiches. Sandwiches because she always gets two. There's no sitting or standing around. Take your order and sit in the car to eat like everyone else in the parking lot. The prices have gone up but what hasn't. It's still a good price and will fill you up.

Update: Just had their scrambled egg with bacon and cheese, and it is delicious! Their pork chop sandwich was so tender with those sweet grilled onions, mmmm This is a place with famously excellent polishes and pork chops that are pretty tasty and reasonably priced. The burgers and hot dogs are very basic. The burgers are made from frozen patties. The fries are very crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. BTW it's all served with grilled onions and mustard, so be sure to let them know if that's not your thing. They are open 24 hours and are CASH only. There are no restrooms, and it is take out only. If you like your salt, ask for salt on the side because the food isn't salty.

Our whole family likes to eat here. The food is always good. Not sure if service is good since I always stay in the car & my husband always gets off to buy the food. This is a stand where you purchase food to go so there's no rating for atmosphere.

Very good food. Nowadays I usually come late night and it’s pretty cool to see the lines and massive amount of food they have prepared on the grill. You’re in and out in a couple minutes flat. Truly high quality quick service restaurant It doesn’t get much more Chicago than this place, including their other locations. I also think they are the pioneer of the fried pork chop sandwich, but I could be wrong. Cash only so don’t forget, but they do have an ATM if you do.

Gotta appreciate a place that's actually 24 hours! I used to go to Jims original but it seems to always be closed so I came down here and found a restaurant that was actually open when it's supposed to be.

I was misinformed. Like Humphrey Bogart, who went to Casablanca "for the waters" but ended up in the desert. I was told that Maxwell Street Depot offered Springfield's original horseshoe sandwich on its menu, along with its signature bone-in pork chop sandwich and Maxwell Street Polish sausage. But not so. Horseshoe sandwich notwithstanding, Maxwell Street Depot still is a go-to destination for Polish sausage, Chicago-style hot dogs, burgers and pork chop sandwiches. Located at 411 West 31st Street, at Canal, a Bridgeport staple, it is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This no frills, fast food, counter-service only joint has been pleasing Chicagoans in general and South Siders in general for more than 40 years. Especially love the Maxwell Street Polish sausage topped with grilled onions, yellow mustard and pickled whole sport peppers.

It's not the Original Jim's Maxwell but close enough. The beef hot dogs and polish sausages are not Vienna, but Bobaks brand which are still all beef. It's been there for years and go to spot if you don't want to take the drive to Union St.

The regular hotdog that I ordered was very good! But the onions that I typically order with one at hotdog joints were likely spoiled. I felt sick for hours afterward and I'm not sure if I was just unlucky or if this is the norm. It was enough for me not to go back.

I parked in their large empty parking lot, planning to come back and get a sandwich after I walked with my friends to a ramen shop down the street. A worker came out of the building shouting as we walked away from the car. I get being protective if they are busy and have few spots, but their the parking lot was empty. So I had to move my car down the street and cry from guilt instead of coming back for a sandwich.

They were quick and remembered everybody's order pretty easily
