Authentic Filipino food that is reasonably priced and very generous servings.

The service was good but compared to the Norfolk location this one isn’t hitting everything on the mark. The fried plantains were half the size than in Norfolk. There was no caramel on the fried Plantains. The fried plantains were not soft and melt in your mouth with every bite, no crisp crunch. Very disappointed. Ordered 20 lumpia and had to pay for any dipping sauce that is for the lumpia. No complimentary sauces for just ordering 20 lumpia. The beef lumpia has entirely too much garlic, that’s all you can taste. I’m really disappointed in the outcome of this visit. I know now I will stay with the Norfolk location. ( ohhh how I wish I could just get my money back) 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️

Their food is GREAT! HOWEVER its EXTREMELY HARD to get food because they are ALWAYS CLOSED, AND they only have food 2.5hrs out of the 4hrs they are “Open”

Today I tried the 3 protein poke bowl with tuna, crab, and shrimp. Threw in Avocado, salad mix, jalapeños, seaweed, sesame oil and traditional oil covering for excellent results.

Authentic as you're gonna get. Ordering is a bit confusing, but the prices are good, and the food is delicious 😋

My friend/coworker paid for lunch today and wanted me to try this spot...no I have rode pass this place to many times to count, never knew there was a restaurant over in that shopping center. It's a small eatin/take out Filipino cafeteria style restaurant. The people are nice and fast. Did know what to get but I know I like Pancit and lumpia,, so I couldn't go wrong with that. I ended up getting the chicken Adobo with pancit, and a few lumpia. Every thing was good and fresh. I will definitely return for more.

I have never had Filipino cuisine before, so I wasn’t sure what to think. As soon as my daughter and I walked in, we were greeted with kindness as the dishes were explained with enthusiasm. We were offered samples of the food so we could try it before we bought it, so that was a nice gesture. The food was so beautiful and delicious (worth every single penny), and the hospitality was top notch. I definitely recommend trying Maymar because you will not be disappointed. Thank you for making a first great impression on us and our bellies. We can’t wait to come again!!!

I haven’t been here in almost 5 years when they were very racist to my daughter and I! Back then we waited our place in line! Once it was my turn, the lady server asked me what I wanted! Right in the middle of me telling her, a Philippine man walked in! She laid the Styrofoam to the side and pointed to the other server behind her, doing something else! Telling me she would serve me! My daughter was next in line to me! Instead she asked the Philippine man who had just walked in after us what he wanted! Just by passed us to fully serve him! I left and hadn’t been back until today! I believe in giving people another chance! Today the servers were VERY very polite, attentive and served all of us in the order we were in! I requested to place a catered order for an upcoming event! I was directed to a man sitting down in a red shirt! I tried to talk to him about it but he held his hand up! For me to wait as he made a phone call in front of me! I sat down right in front of him to wait! He got off of that call and made another call while I waited! I could understand if I interrupted him during an on going call! Which I have manners and would have sat to wait before addressing him! He made me wait while he placed two calls! I told him about what I was trying to order! He told me they are booked! Which I understood due to it being Graduation weekend as he stated! I was about to leave but he asked me how much I needed! I told him and he proceeded to say what he already told me! That they are booked! Why tell me he couldn’t, then call me back asking the amount I needed? To tell me he is booked again? I really felt like he was thinking about doing it but changed his mind! For whatever reason! Like I said, it’s been 5 years since trying them again. I will never go back! It seems like they pick and choose who to deal with, who not to and when! When I shared my experience 5 years ago I was told by a family member who is a regular customer! That the mother and father are very nice and that it wouldn’t happen if they are there! I don’t know them and this was five years ago! I do know they must be nice people to have my cousin as a regular customer! She is very picky about people and her food😂! Kudos to the servers today they were very professional! Older man at table not! Very rude to place calls while a customer is waiting!

Meat portions were not big enough for 13.99.

House pancit is only meat and noodles. Very disappointing. Being a military family none of my Filipino service members pancit is ever disgusting and unappetizing. It's sad because there isn't very many Filipino restaurants and I will go back to just ordering from Co-Workers. I couldn't even eat this I threw it away...yuck!

Maymar Norfolk has the best lumpia. They have a pick your items menu “cafeteria style” Everything is made fresh daily. The staff/ family is great. If you are ever in the area, grab you some authentic food.

Went to Maymar for the first time today. I asked the owner to help me with ordering a poke meal. He was very friendly and guided me through the choices. End point resulted in an excellent dish

I've been wanting some authentic Filipino food for quite some time and heard about this place. Actually, I'd heard of this place like 11 years ago, just never went. My definition of authentic Filipino food has always been my father's cooking. So I was in the area and decided to give this place a try. I'd seen these wings that looked like General Tso's chicken, so I had to order those, some lumpia (filipino eggrolls), rice and pancit which is a noodle dish with stir fried meats and veggies. I can actually make all of this, but I don't because I want to try other people's versions of the foods I grew up with. I'd thought the food was good. There are still some other dishes I'd like to try the next time I come in.

I have been going to Maymar since they opened several years ago. I understand the price increase but their portions have gotten much smaller over the years. They need to be more generous with serving.

Basic spot with very generous people. He had Curry and Adobo Chicken, Green Beans, Spare Ribs, Noodles, Rice, and so much Lumpia. It was all delicious and the people are very kind. They run out of lumpia, so don't come at the end of the day -all pitiful for lumpia-

Excellent food. The Shrimp and Chicken Pancit is the best in the Tidewater Area. The Lumpia is the real deal. I tried the Chesapeake location and it just can't top the Princess Anne Road, Norfolk location.

The lumpia we're delicious as well authentically made. I ordered 7, they were only 0.69 cents 😯😌I should've gotten 10 lol overall decent place going back for those two items

Closed without any communication. I went to bot restaurants in Norfolk 2 days in a row and both was closed with out any signage or edit to schedule calendar that was posted. They had failed allot of customers from not being professional.

Horrible. They never have any Pancit sauce. The pancit is dry. The food heaters don’t work, so they sit the food out with aluminum foil on top. The place is dirty. Service is horrible. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Best wings in town. Bon Chon crispy glaze style. The langoniza is delicious and the ground beef with peppers and potatoes is hard not to get EVERY TIME. The two entree combo with rice or pancit is a must every time. Grab a couple wings and the crispy fried shrimp cakes as well while you’re at it. And tip these people for busting their hump to serve that insane lunch rush they get every day!

Hidden gem near Military circle, a 10-15min drive from Oceanview. Authentic Filipino food. 7 tables inside with seating for about 25. I love that when they do take out they use short shipping boxes (like from purchasing bulk canned food or soda) to bundle all your take outs together. Great little lunch spot for take away or eating in. No reservations required.

You can order rice or pancit entrees for different prices. Everything is prepared in advance and you choose what you want on your plate. We had adobo chicken, lumpia (egg roll), and a veggie side. We really enjoyed our food and the staff were all very friendly.

We ordered three meals (3 entree x2; 2 entree x1) via GrubHub. When the driver arrived to pick up our order, they told him to call and tell us we had to pay extra for every piece of lumpia on the orders, as it was not included in the package price. They wanted $0.16 extra for every piece of lumpia, so an extra $3.00 per order ($9.00 total). The lumpia was advertised as included just like any other entree selection on the menu. I tried to contact Maymar directly, but I could not get them to answer the phone. GrubHub contacted them, and they were unwilling to send us our food without the extra, unadvertised, cost; GrubHub had to cancel the order. The good news is that we will get our $37.00 back in a few days. Thanks for the false advertising and crummy customer service. We will NEVER order from here again. I highly recommend everyone avoid this place.

I would like to see pricing and menu on line please . I also didn’t like that things weren’t marked as so you would know what you were ordering. Very friendly people helpful to explain to us what we where ordering. I gave it a 3 for the above reason and the phone it’s very hard to get through to place a order. I also paid $ 40 for 20 wings and a very small bowl of dopoo was very delicious but I thought it was pricey.

So far, I’ve only tried their pancit and lumpia! My daughter tried the okoy with baby shrimps and she liked it! I’m giving them 5 stars even if I haven’t been there because their pancit is the bomb!! This is how pancit should be, by F and S!

The best homemade Filipino food around. I have been a repeat customer since I was a child, coming with family. I will continue to be repeat customer for years to come.

The meat, noodle and fish dishes tasted good and seemed of good food quality. They sell the long, tall can of coconut milk drink if you like that. The assortment of food was small, only a few pots behind the glass in the strip-mall restaurant which was tight on space and had no seating due the virus rules. Ordering was a riot. Loud, chaotic with people maneuvering in front of one another to complete an order, point to this and that.... no organized line. In the end, the server behind the shield was friendly but sounded like they were screaming when the order began. The place does not look real clean. It's kind of dim and enclosed in there so, honestly, I would limit my exposure for health reasons. The value for money was outstanding. You can get two good meals in a Styrofoam container for about $11- not bad for expensive Virginia Beach. So, very good Filipino food, not much selection, great value for money, in an unpleasant atmosphere that's probably not sanitary enough. Life is full of trade-offs. The

The absolute BEST pork steak! I moved to AZ for ten years and searched and searched for a Filipino place that served pork steak as good as Maymar and couldn't find any. I had to move back home to finally get it again. Introduced my kids to it and my son said it was the best thing he's ever eaten!

I grew up in the Philippines and they serve the real thing. If you are new to the cuisine then try lumpia and pancit. Next level will be the chicken tinola and chicken curry. Siopao is one of my favorite. Don't forget their turon for dessert!

OMG It's so good and the staff is outstanding!

This restaurant is everything and has everything you could ever imagine in eating Filipino food. The variety of food offered was hot and fresh and the displays were full at all times. The portions are beyond belief for such a cheap price. Maymar has a familial feel to it, like you're sitting down to eat at your Lola's house. Everyone was friendly and full of smiles upon entering.

On July 20,2019 I went to Maymar to pick up 4 dishes of food for $300 I order in June 2019 I gave them a deposit of $100 on the day in question when I got there they didn't have the food ready I watch them give other customers their dishes ahead of me I sat there patiently waiting for my order for over 30-45mins They cheated me out of 6 lumpia pretty much the whole order they gave me 3 dishes they where arguing fusing it was a mess the the old lady didn't want to give any sauces I paid the other $209 and left I realized I only had three dishes and went back when I called back the owner brother started call me name he call me stupid after they cheated me out of a $60 dishes I had to make a threat that I would call the police to get the dish they was very rude to me he wouldn't apologize bragged and said I don't need your business he did this in front of his children and other customers I was so hurt and humiliated I didn't want the food after they act so ugly but I had 100 guest to feed to public people like that don't deserve a business I never said one ugly thing to them he bragged I have 1000 customers business I don't need your business after I gave them $300 the world we living in support people like that who don't care nothing about us it's really sad I will never go there anymore the bible say pray those who despitefully use you

Chicken Adobe amazing, get extra sauce on your chicken and rice or pancit. Pancit is on another level, lumpia is good too. I try the sausages. . . . addictive. So many choices. The older lady with glasses don't know all the prices so ask someone else. Overall, best food and its fresh and delicious.
