Food is always great at Metro Diner. My only complaint is every now and then the fried chicken has a taste of overused or scorched oil. But when the chicken is cooked in fresh oil, it is great! Very flavorful and crispy. It also holds up well as take out.

Candace was amazing - she suggested two of the blackboard specials which were 12/10 amazing dishes (should be added to the actual menu). Food came out quickly and beverages were always full and fresh. Love this metro location

Great place!! The waitress was amazing and like always the food was fantastic. My only downside was the flies. I'm not sure if it was just that day but they were non-stop. My daughter was fed and wanted to be done. Other than that Great!

Waited 50 minutes for breakfast once seated. Manager expressed apologies and gave us a gift card for return visit. Would be a 5 star review if not for time delay of getting food

The food is generally fantastic and the staff is usually great, kind and on point. It can get busy, so come on low times or with patience. I've had the surf and turf Benedict's, huevo rancheros, biscuits and gravy, breakfast bowls, meatloaf, pot pie, chicken and waffle, pancakes, etc and they're all amazing. Some are better than others, but on the whole they're great

Metro metro metro. the cleanliness of the establishment has significantly deteriorated. The ventilation system is covered in black mold and dust. Furthermore, the service staff seems more preoccupied with internal conflicts and gossip than with attending to their duties. The quality of the food has also declined, and basic amenities such as butter and syrup are not provided unless specifically requested? The overall hygiene of the establishment is concerning, as evidenced by the microwave and the wall under the counter, which have not been properly cleaned. Regrettably, I will no longer be bringing my family here. The current state of the establishment poses a health risk to customers, and I cannot, in good conscience, continue to patronize it.

I've been going to this location since they opened. I've never had a bad experience or a bad dish. Service is always great. They get very busy on the weekends, and the wait can be up to 45 minutes. I definitely recommend going for breakfast before 9.

This place was extremely busy and packed. Good sign they must be pretty good 😅. The menu has quite an offering and the price range is reasonable. I will go back again and try other dishes. We ordered fish and chips, and fried chicken w waffle. The fish batter was quite light and the fish was well seasoned. The fried chicken was juicy inside and the waffle was okay. Our server was friendly and checked on us a few times despite extremely busy.

Waitress was really nice and helpful. I felt the food was overpriced for what it was. Nothing too special about it.

Food was good the out door seating is nice a bit noisy since it is right by San Jose Blvd but over all good visit

I like Metro dinner they are fairly consistent with quality. Prices are good since they did not increase as much as other places.

We visited on a Sunday evening. Good atmosphere and our server was awesome. She was new (2nd day on the job) but she gave great recommendations. Food came out quickly AND correctly. Amazing portion sizes. If you leave hungry, you didn't clean your plate. Seems like a great place and the staff was very friendly

I love their Bissel breakfast! I have eaten it at the restaurant, picked it up to take home and ordered it online to be delivered.

I have been coming to this location for many years. It was always a favorite. I've seen it go through so many changes. Currently there are a few good waitresses and a few good cooks which makes for great breakfast more often than not. However what's going on with the prices on drinks? Attached is a picture of my bill for my breakfast (eggs sucked) and a kid Bissell. Over $30. Good grief. Corporate must have needed to make money without us regular folks noticing they are charging $3.49 for Coffee and Tea.

The last 3 times I have gotten food delivered from metro an entire meal has been missing. Whoever is bagging the food up is not checking the receipts to make sure all the food is there and should be let go

One of my favorite place to eat at. Great local place with good food and service. Charleston shrimp and grits is my go to down.

By far the best breakfast spot in Jacksonville!! Not only do they have $5 momosias, but food was rocking!!! You can get breakfast and lunch. The service was amazing. So friendly. I noticed it was very family oriented there. Families knew each other and it was all around a great experience!!! Must come here!

Literally can't rate anything because we just waited about 45-50 mins when our estimated wait time was 25. Horrible start to my mother's day. When I went to ask about the wait all I got was questions back. We went next door to Hurricane Grill.

I took my mom here for lunch. Our server was great, very attentive. We never had to ask for refills, we had full glasses the entire time. The food was great, came out fast and it was all very reasonably priced for the size of the portions.

It's a home away from home place. The lady who served us was full of courtesy,the food we ordered were delicious till the last bite. The atmosphere is peaceful and the restaurant is noiseless and calm. I'll surely visit with my family over and over again

It's good fresh food pretty reasonably priced. Our waitress today was very friendly and attentive. The avocado toast was oversalted a bit but edible. No issues otherwise.

This diner is always busy and has a wait time but has proven (every time) to be worth the wait! The wait time is not too long but expected. Especially at breakfast time. Keep up the good work!

Great place to eat and friendly staff!

Waited about 20 minutes to be seated. Got our food reasonably fast. My wife's food was great. Mine not so much. The pancakes were rubbery, and the biscuit must have been from the day before. First experience with a so so meal at a Metro Diner. Service was good, and they were busy; you would assume everything would be fairly freshly made. Probably won't be back to this location.

If you ever want to eat out and still feel at home, this is the place. Everyone was so friendly and the place has that "home town" feel to it. This was my second time here and it was just as amazing as it was my first time. My server mentioned that everything is made from scratch and you can tell. The food was amazing. I need to return and try the lunch/dinner menu and I'll update the review when I do. Definitely, worth a stop if you are close.

The food was A tier and the service was really good. They were busy but still attentive to us. I love the strawberry shortcake waffle (it was a valentines special), but try their carrot cake one!!

My wife found a German roach in her roasted turkey plate. This is absolutely unprofessional as a restaurant to have such a thing happen. I am a pest control technician and the saying is for every 1 German roach you see there are 30 you don’t. We will never eat at this restaurant again. Clearly there are some sanitation improvements to be made immediately.

I wanted something quick to eat and my coworkers. The younger people who work there are nice but we watch everybody getting service and drinks. Feels like the '70s waiting 15 mins + for someone to ask us for our drinks. We went to Hurricane next door and 100% better service.

My friend and I went for lunch. We were seated pretty quickly. I got the shrimp lunch special. It was fried shrimp, coleslaw, and onion rings. The cook was excellent on the fried shrimp and onion rings, beautiful crunch and color, but a little salty.

This place is always awesome, the food, the staff, the atmosphere, love it.

Portion size is an easy 10 (big portions). Taste was 8-10. Pretty good but it felt like flavor (at times) fell short. Strawberry butter is a fun hit. Coffee was a bit weak. Definitely worth visiting (as you could tell by the line).

Always a wait on weekend mornings but the service is to notch and food delicious.

Great breakfast.....Great lunch

We had a good visit for a mid-morning mid-week breakfast. We were seated within a minute or so and were lucky enough to get one of our favorite tables. Our server was pleasant and efficient and was attentive throughout without hovering. Our orders came out in a reasonable time and were made just as we requested. Portions were ample. The dining room was moderately busy but it wasn’t chaotic and we weren’t rushed. Overall we had an enjoyable visit and will return. I wish they would bring back “The Big Bern”.

I like going to the diner. It's predictable, yummy and good old comfort food. I have my favorites (fried chicken and waffle) and the kids can always find something they enjoy. The service it top notch and friendly. I pass by often and don't stop as much as I would like, but when I do, they do not disappoint!

I've been to other Metro Diner locations and have liked them. This one did not let me down. I was meeting friends who were from out of town and they really enjoyed their breakfast also. The server was great, took our order in a timely manner, didn't let the drinks run out and brought our food out quickly. I would recommend this Metro Diner!

I took my family here yesterday, new years day 2024, there was 6 adults and a 3 yr old. We were told a 25 min wait and that is reasonable for the time of day and the holiday. At 40 mins we went to check and were told 5 more mins., okay that is a bit much but it was crowded. At 55 min. we asked to speak to a manager and explained why, they suddenly had a table for us and when we said that's great, we still want to speak to a Manager, the young hostess said " so do you want to be seated or stand here and wait on a manager". The level of rude was off the chart, like I said, this is a 25 min. wait that is now at 55 min, while we sat and watched table after table seated, (tables that could easily been put together for 7). We did speak to a manager and she was apologetic, they assigned severs to get drinks and get our order started to get things moving. I'm just still shocked at how rude and condescending the hostess was, and yes I have done her job and yes, I know it is not easy, but to be rude and condescending because you want to speak to a manager is next level. The food was okay, but no where near the level you normally get at a Metro Diner. Our compensation was that we did not get charged for drinks, and at what they cost, that was nice. Not sure I would try this metro again.

My wife and I have been here multiple times. Honestly, our favorite place to dine out. Great food. I'm a southern boy and they always remind me of home. More importantly, an amazing staff! Waitresses and cooks I always have the impression they are thankful and excited I am there. And don't waste your time on glasses of mimosas. Go right for the bottle! 😀

I’ve ordered fish and chips to go 4 times and 2 out of 4 times they’ve forgot the tartar sauce and the fish has tasted funny to the point that it’s not edible. The inside of the fish is not the bright white that you usually see with fried fish and the ends are chewy and overcooked. You’d think a restaurant that advertises “Fish Friday” would excel at fish and chips.

Cracker barrell used to be the Go To breakfast spot, but I think metro upped them. Busy location but fast turn around. 10/10 recommend

This is my first stop right from the airport when I come to Jacksonville to visit my family. I'm very particular about my fried chicken, and Metro Diner never disappoints. Food is well-seasoned, hot, and served by a great staff.

Food is terrible I would not recommend. Metro diner is not at all what it used to be. Hashbrowns are extremely oily and raw every time. Bacon is about what you would expect from McDonald’s. Overall I’ve been here several times and the food is always greasy. I won’t give them another try Grumpy’s is 15 min away and their food is much better

My order was $54 I left a $10 cash tip and the waitress decided to give herself an extra $10 tip and charged my card $64 stealing from me. The food was amazing but my cups were dirty had to send my drinks back. It was my first experience there. Because I’m in the Christmas spirit even though money was stolen from me she can keep it because obviously she needed it in order to make a decision of greed that could make her lose her job in order to survive. For this reason alone , it was FIRST LAST AND ONLY time I will ever be there. Please keep an eye on your employees and the tickets to ensure this doesn’t happen again someone else who may not be as calm and generous about theft. Thanks for the good food & I sincerely hope that woman pulls through the rough times that would have her stealing from customers who work hard for every dime they EARN.

Got bissell breakfast didn’t eat nothing as you can see food was horrible came here last time tried to give this metro another chance this one has to be worst in city. Wasted my money and driving from Southside two times biscuits are just nasty chemical taste and had foil pieces on top of it how is any of this fresh hash browns were way undercooked just fried the top bacon was even cooked u can see it’s not crispy @ all just All and all never again will I spend my money @ this metro on San Jose get new cook or something who would even serve old food! Dnt need no coupons no money back im good if you see this don’t come to this it’s two others go to them.

The location on San Jose Boulevard and Julington Creek Road has such a pretty view from its outdoor patio. There truly is no better breakfast anywhere!!!!

Breakfast was delicious. Everything was cooked to order. Getting coffee refills wasn't timely in an almost empty restaurant. Tge staff was working.

Waited almost 20 mins after being seated for service. Never got service. Went inside to get help and then no one ever came. So we had to leave.

It used to be great, but then changed. Food and service are not consistent. Also, not a fan of people bringing their dogs to a place I'm consuming food (and I own two dogs before all you animal lovers start to comment). Regardless, I'll still go almost every week, but I wish it was like it use to be.

I love coming to this restaurant and eating because I can eat breakfast or lunch. I the food was great and service was excellent. I had chicken salad and Cheryl had meatloaf and mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. We had a awesome server. Her name was Joslyn super sweet kind and was a very good server thank you for your hospitality and treat us like we were at home. Can’t wait to come back and see you guys. Thanks you guys, Star

The cheeseburger is always delicious I get it medium I get the brown gravy on the side because I love brown gravy and metro makes one of the best I have ever tasted

The highlight of coming here is being greeted by Candice. Her energy is contagious. She’s the perfect person to be the first face you see as you walk in. The entire staff is amazing as well. The food is consistently great throughout all locations.

Great place to have brunch or your morning breakfast.

We consistently order takeout or delivery as their dining room cannot comfortably accommodate my husbands large power wheelchair. Last pickup order we placed one of the kids’ entrees was left out, we called and were told some form of compensation would be sent and it never was. The last 3 times before tonight we ordered the Turkey each time and did not receive the cranberry sauce. Tonight 2 of our entrees were supposed to include green beans; one they arbitrarily subbed broccoli and the other fries. Because of a post surgical diet I was counting on the green beans and can’t won’t eat the fries. I filed a complaint with Uber Eats and was credited a whopping $2, less than it would cost to order one of the green beans. I tried calling and got no answer.

Better than Waffle House...and I love me some All-star breakfast.

Really enjoy the food here. Biscuits and gravy half order if it’s breakfast and the club sandwich any other time. I don’t know how they make a sandwich so much better than anywhere else but they do! Oh and order a side of the honey mustard dressing to dip your fries in (amazing)!

Our waitress was very sweet and attentive, we came in on Sunday morning and it was a 15 minute wait. We got our food quickly, it was all pretty good. Chicken was delicious but the rest was standard. I would probably come back in future.

One of the Best full service cafe we have been to here in Jacksonville. Quick attentive service, large portions. Great coffe, and excellent wait staff. Wide selection of good food choices. It’s a (GoTo) restaurant when we’re really hungry. Never a disappointment.

I've been to another location awful . This one had it going on. My friend got me Easter dinner from Baymeadow . Loved the roasted corn,Mac & cheese was good too. 👍

i just dined in with my friends and our waitress first off wasn't the best. she gave us the bill as we just got our food and then she wouldn't even check on us. then i left my debit card on the table when we left, and i noticed right away and we drove back and "no one saw it". "the busboy didn't even see it" when it was green and right there on the table. then i came back asking our waitress and another waitress and no they didn't see it. i'm guessing someone stole it but they cleaned our table right after we left so there wasn't a chance to steal it? horrible service fr

An iconic Jacksonville restaurant! I visited the original in 1996 when i moved to the area. Now they are expanding across the country. Wide selection on the menu. I usually get the meatloaf as a go to for a quick lunch.

Excellent place during our weekend stay and we ended up coming back twice. I would highly recommend the chicken and waffles and the biscuits and gravy was really good too. Great staff and good experience.

I waited in the curbside parking lot for way too long and when I went inside to grab the food, the lady had an attitude and didn't bother to say sorry for the wait or even a simple "have a nice day." Didn't say a word. The food is going down hill and so is the customer service. Lost my business.

I love this place but the hostess is SO rude. Everytime I come here with my child, she acts like it is such a chore to have to get us a high-chair and kids menu. EVERY SINGLE TIME. And we come here at least once a week. My child is very well-behaved and never leaves a mess. I guess this woman just hates her job.
