Great cafe the sushi was great the beef sandwich was very tasty. the ethiopian tea was amazing too

They should get 10 stars. I placed an order online order some coffee and tea for a late night at work. When I got the the restaurant, there was a sign that read: closed for emergency. I call the restaurant and a woman answered and told me she’d get someone inside to refund me the cost of my order. A few moments later a young woman appeared and kindly asked to see what I ordered. Instead of refunding me my money, she went ahead and made me my coffee and tea right then and there. They were both delicious. I appreciate the customer service and will be back! Thank you all very much.

This Ethiopian and Japanese restaurant is a true gem in our city. Owned by authentic Ethiopian and Japanese chefs who prioritize quality and authenticity, every dish is made with top-notch ingredients and freshly prepared to order. The sushi fish is exceptional and fresh, reflecting their commitment to excellence. The beef panini was delicious. The organic customer service makes you feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. Nothing was average about the food they serve. The wine selection is carefully curated for quality, perfectly complementing the exceptional menu. It's the perfect place for gatherings or group dinners, as well as for individuals. As someone who travels frequently between NYC and DC, I can confidently say this place would be a hit in New York City. For real and true food and experience lovers and travelers at heart, this restaurant is a must-visit. I can't wait to return soon to try their breakfast offerings!

Cute small cafe owned by a wonderful couple. We ordered the sushi and it came out quickly and was delicious. They can customize the different plate offerings to meet your needs.

I love the cozy atmosphere of the cafe, It has plants and very comfortable chairs! The food is astonishing and this is my third time coming back! I love their sushi and the presentation with it. I totally recommended their coffee, iced latte and the chai. Not to mention the workers are super friendly! I recommend, 10/10.

This is some of the best sushi I have ever had. And the owners are super cool. We are very lucky to have this in our neighborhood. A year later: this place is still amazing and I have never given me anything less than a great meal!

Stopped by today with my daughter and had some of the best food! We devoured the mita club, sushi, miso soup, egg and cheese, and their delicious ice coffee! Everything was DELICIOUS, fresh, made to order, and the customer service is next level. This is why I love my city because of amazing little gems like this restaurant. Highly highly highly recommended!!!

I am from Japan so this cafe reminded me Japan a lot. Sushi tastes like Expensive Japanese Sushi. Everything was perfect. I will go there again for sure.

Wonderful food. I had the vegan wrap and it was tasty, spinach packed with a nice dressing. I ate every bite. We also tried the unagi sushi and it was high quality, super delicious. Very nice people, good service. Would return.

Delicious sushi made fresh! It was so good and I had no idea they have been in business for 3 years! I ordered the small sushi platter and they were willing to customize the rolls for me. My new go to sushi spot when I am in the area. Looking forward to trying the Ethiopian food!

My husband and I had been eyeing this place for a year and were finally able to go! An amazing combo and definitely worth the wait. Had some delicious Ethiopian tea (first time and got one to go, it was so good!) and some of the best sushi I've had in the city (so fresh)! To top it off, the owners are super kind and welcoming. So lovely - The space is very homey and the owners are so sweet! When bringing out our drinks they also brought out complementary sushi and checked in with us on multiple occasions. The blend of cultures is interesting and well executed in both the decor and the cuisine - 10/10 would recommend

My order is a tofu melt, green smoothie with papaya, and some sort of espresso drink. SO good, even if it’s a little expensive. The owners are very nice and the vibe is super mom-and-pop.

Amazing experience at this family owned cafe. The food was not a true fusion but has many things to offer from both countries. The owner was very delightful and treated us to amazing food and the story of the cafes founding.

I found this place after dropping my son off for daycare one morning. The owner is so nice and friendly! The food is delicious, especially their tomato, cheese sandwich on a croissant. Their coffee left me running in place; it was strong but again, delicious! My wife and I are making this our usual Friday breakfast spot to start the weekend.

It was amazing how both the Ethiopian food - we had a vegetarian platter - and the sushi - we sampled a few - were both so good! And the owners are both so kind, welcoming, and helpful. We had such a wonderful experience and are looking forward to coming back!

Easily the best coffee I've had. It's been said, Ethiopian coffee is unrivaled -- I completely agree. Mita is an AMAZING human and her husband (his sushi is really good) adds a beautiful twist on this quaint cafe on Kennedy St. My weekly spot!!! A must whenever I'm in the city.

Lovely little spot with quality sushi at a great price! We arrived near to closing and the couple running the cafe were so nice. The rolls are simple and tasty and the nirigi was so fresh. Definitely coming back to try more of their menu!

The Ethiopian food and sushi here are both amazing and the owners (a Japanese man and Ethiopian woman) are both absolutely delightful. The Tokio sushi set is delicious and super fresh. Great vegetarian Ethiopian options and the Injera is absolutely some of the best in the city. Try the sambusas too. Also conveniently close to Everyday Sundae, the best ice cream shop in the universe.

I love this place. The food is great. I usually get the ethio veggie platter which is stellar. The sushi is also good. The owners are wonderful. What more could you want?

We went on a Sunday evening and they weren’t very busy, which was a surprise because they had such amazing customer service and such delicious sushi! Definitely will come back again next visit to DC. This is a hidden gem! The inside wasn’t fancy but the presentation on plate was great. And the sushi was fresh! Definitely a 5 star review!!

Found this place after leaving the DC self inspection kiosk to renew my car registration. It was such a good find! The husband is a trained Japanese sushi chef and wife runs the restaurant, bakery, cafe and makes the Ethiopian food. The sushi rice was perfect and fish was fresh. The Ethiopian tea (I asked for less sugar) was delicious and such a treat. The Ethiopian veggie platter was so tasty we cleaned off the entire plate after asking for more injera. It’s quaint and homey, and the hosts could not be more hospitable. Will return!

Ok, some of the best food I have ever had. Who knew this combination was such a winning one? The 4 of us got a sushi plate and an Ethiopian veggie plate to share. Delicious! We brought panini home for dinner. Though the TV background of calming music and beach destinations almost put us to sleep after a hearty, but not too hearty, meal. Worth the stop!

Hidden gem in the neighborhood. Fresh sushi was delicious. Sandwich was great. Coffee was excellent. Bonus points for the very bright natural light, comfy chairs and quiet music that makes it an ideal place to work for an hour or two.
