Very enjoyable. Only negative comment I have is that the noise level is too high. Not horribly high, just too high for what I consider optimal. Food was tasty and both the beet salad and paella were very very good.

The service was superb. We had fun, cocktails, and a special Peruvian liqueur. The appetizers were good and everyone’s dish was good except mine. I had the Peruvian paella and it was served too hot to eat, but also had very little flavor. We would go back again.

Food is always reliably food, but it is very loud indoors. The outdoor patio is a good alternative option.

Waiters forgot our extra order for togo empanadas and rushed us out of the restaurant as it was closing.

Peruvian food with an Asian flair! The food was great, taste was reminiscent of classic Peruvian with an interesting twist. Service was amazing with charming service/host and the timing of dishes was perfect! They really are top notch with the way they operate! If you want a twist on something classic, this is your place!

We had the tuna cebiche, the pork belly skewers, and the octopus. All were excellent; however serving sizes were much more than we expected for what we thought were appetizers. It would be nice to have an option for a smaller serving. We also tried the pisco sours, and were disappointed. Main problem was that they were not chilled, but also had an overwhelming alcoholic flavor. Maybe both are as intended, but would not get them again.

When I called to push my reservation back 15 minutes it was easily handled. The service was spot on - not pushy and very pleasant. They were ready to offer suggestions when asked. Food arrived quickly and was delicious! Eating inside is noisier - go earlier to avoid a full room.

Absolutely amazing experience. Everything was phenomenal from the food to the service. Especially Melvin, such a genuinely kind guy who went out of his way to make sure everyone had a wonderful experience. Definitely will come back!

Just wonderful! Delicious dishes. I had one of the ceviche's and the fish was so fresh! Very tasty. And the 'Puruvian paella' - very flavorful. Wonderful serivce, very attentive and friendly. Strongly recommend!

Fantastic food and great service!

I’m a big fan of Peruvian food, and of course, I have to try the while in San Francisco. Mochica, the food was tasty, and the portions were plentiful. Also, the servers were very attentive. I would suggest that if you love Peruvian food, you check this place out.

My husband and I along with our kids came last Sunday after having a Father's Day brunch on the Hornblower, which i may say, wasn't the same as it used to be. Whenever we're in SF, my husband and I love to eat Peruvian food. My husband is Mexican and I'm Peruvian. I always expect a lot from a Peruvian restaurant, especially in the middle of SF. I didn't want to assume anything by the esthetics of the outside of the building, but they could improve the look a little. The portions of the food, along with the prices for the dishes, didn't match the quality and taste. Even less expensive Peruvian restaurants serve more. If you're going to overprice a dish, I expect it to be delicious, but it also needs to be a good portion. I don't care how fancy other restaurants are. Peruvian food should be based on quality AND quantity because there's no other food like it. Every bite counts, and I want to have more than a bird size portion to enjoy my appetizers and main dishes. The ceviche we ordered was just a handful and the only rightfully tasteful dish. The Tacu-Tacu was terrible. Minature beans in any Peruvian dish are unacceptable. The Lomo Saltado was not that good, and the chicha needed some ice or to be chilled, and with a little less sugar. I'm not interested in Peruvian restaurants that try to act fancy with their overly priced small portions. The restaurant was also pretty empty at 4 o'clock and we felt neglected. They could probably see my disappointment because I will not hide it. I expected the best and this was not it. This was a true disappointment.

The food and services was excellent. I’ll recommend if you into Peruvian cuisine.

We really love Michica. This was our second time eating here, and it didn't disappoint. My husband loved the empanadas, I loved the ahi salad, and we both loved the cookies with dulce de leche and ice cream. The only disappointment was the margarita, which had a strange habanero and chemical taste. We had to send it back, but our server was very gracious about it.

Service was really great and food exceeded my expectations! The flavors in the food were delightful!

I was here a few weeks ago with a friend and we came on a whim just to try it out. We ended up having the best meal I had on my SF trip and we were so lucky to have been waited on by Melvin, the most genuine and kind waiter we've ever had! The food and drinks were incredible. We couldn't have had a better time.

My partner and I came here to celebrate his birthday. We were immediately seated, with no reservation, and tended to. Our server was Andres. He was attentive, friendly, and kind to recommend his favorite dishes. He recommended the Lomo Saltado and the panna cotta (both were delicious). We also had the ceviche de camarones. I had mentioned to Andres that we were celebrating a birthday not expecting anything in return. The restaurant was generous enough to bring out yummy alfajores. Needless to say, we are grateful to the Mochica servers and cooks for making such a memorable meal. Gracias a todos!

Great place with amazing food. Service is good as well. But beware, it’s quite expensive!

Food is good and prices are fair for the quality and portion sizes, but the service is very slow and confused (friendly, though). I waited for more than 40 minutes between starters and main dish, that ultimately never came. To be fair they cancelled the dish without questioning, but it ultimately ruined an experience that was very positive until the delays.

Food is always delicious. We have been to Mochicas 4-5 times now and we never had a bad thing about the food. Service could be better. We visited on Cinco de Mayo 2024 and after viewing the restaurants Instagram that same morning that featured flavored margaritas, we were told the restaurant didn’t carry those specialty flavors. The website also doesn’t function properly so you can’t find any accurate information.

The food was absolutely overpriced for what we got. The service was like going to an Applebee’s. I have no idea why this place is still open. Terrible experience. 

I liked the vibe, but the service was subpar and the food was good, but not super memorable. It was hard to get a server to take our order, then they forgot part of the order, and it was hard to pay and leave. I don't think I'd return for food, but the cocktails were solid. I'd give it a 3.5 if I could.

Fun atmosphere. Good drinks. Decent food. Pitiful service. Waiter completely forgot one of our meals. It came out literally when the other six people in our party were done with their meals and drinks. I would have thought maybe an apology or even comp that entree but we got nothing. No compunction, no apology, no explanation.

We had a great meal at Mochica! The staff was friendly and helpful, and food was excellent and the drinks were great too. We decided to go all-Tapas, instead of individual entrees and everyone was quite happy with that. We had several of ceviche's and everyone picked a different one as their "favorite" so in my book that means they were all good. I highly recommend Mochica's.

We came for an early lunch and I liked the vibes! There was a brunch menu along with their regular peruvian dishes. You can tell that they use high quality fresh ingredients in all their dishes. Their empanadas and roasted chicken dishes were my favorite of what we ordered.

This has quickly become my favorite restaurant in Potrero. It is quite pricey but the food is DIVINE, all my compliment to the chef(s). The best starter dish is the tequenos (so good!!) abs my favorite mains are the tuna and salmon dishes. Their cocktails and mocktail are excellent, and the servers are all very friendly. I've also discovered their brunch and fallen in love. Such a great restaurant, I will always come here to treat myself or treat out of town visitors.

Had reserved inside seating and were seated outside even though tables were available inside and several people that arrived right after us were seated inside. Heaters outside were not enough and it was too cold. Not comfortable. My wife complained with the host and nothing was done. The food was ok. Appetizer was the best of the food. Overall not a good price / value.

Mochila is a small restaurant in San Francisco that serves some of the best Peruvian food in the area. The staff are nice and servicial. Although, the place is small for a wedding dinner, we had a great time.

I don't understand how someone can build a beautiful restaurant, serve delicious $30+ meals, and then think it's ok to play ads over the radio during dinner. Total turn off. Pay $15/mo for streaming ad-free radio like everyone else does. Or play CDs! They are practically free now.

The type of neighborhood food spot SF is known for. Potrero Hill has their fair share of these. Unpretentious Peruvian cuisine, well executed, with attentive staff. Good bar drinks too, if you don't see what you want on their menu they'll make it for you anyway.

I ordered the ceviche chino - Peruvian and was very happy with the quality and size of the fish pieces, and the lime used to make the dish. It was easy to taste all of the flavors coming together. Delivery was fast.

A gem of a restaurant in the Potrero Hill neighborhood. We had never had Peruvian food and were delightfully impressed. The scallops were standout, empanadas delicious as was the ceviche. Definitely splurge on the pisco sours as well. Service was excellent. The only downside is that the portions are a little small for the price.

This place was awesome! Came here for an early dinner and they definitely did NOT disappoint. As we were 1 of the first customers of dinner, we got service right away and attention our entire meal. Food was delicious, got about 5 plates and between the 2 of us we were definitely full. It tasted amazing and was out quickly. Decor/ambiance was perfect, and can't really tell you about the noise since we were like 1 of 3 groups there. Definitely would come back again

The drinks were well thought out and the food packed flavor. overall, would come back again! chicharonnes pollo: well fried with flavor. juicy chicken pork belly fried rice: must try! pork belly was perfectly cooked and combined while the rice itself was packed with flavor pisco trio: passionfruit, hibiscus, regular pisco sours. tasty but nothing too memorable police officer: smoky, spicy, delicious mezcal drink

The service was the best with Melvin. He is so honest and genuine. I’ve been in different states and restaurants and I must say that Melvin has been the most authentic and kind person I’ve ever met. His recommendation was accurate and honest. He is a gem in this place. I foresee a great future for him. The food was good. I enjoyed the drinks and the atmosphere. The decoration was interesting and chic.

Mochica deftly earned a place on my list of favorite restaurants in San Francisco. The service is wonderful and the restaurant itself is cozy, but the food… oh boy. The food is phenomenal. Everything is flavorful and unique and perfectly prepared. Order with wild abandon, you can’t go wrong.

It was too cold for me to be outside, and we didnt have a reservation because of the last minute plans. Food was good. Everyone liked their plates. The Rice with seafood was the tastiest. I ordered Chancho i didn't like :( . service was great 👍🏾 i will.come back for HH.

This is a nice restaurant, however it was quite cold inside (malfunctioning heater, doors don't close well and create an air draft). It's a peruvian restaurant but the food is sweet! They added sugar to many dishes, even to ceviche, on top of tequeños, etc The octopus was our favorite dish, very taste and nice flavor.

There is plenty of competition for Peruvian food in the city, I have tried many & this place is definitely top 2. The flavors were great, the food tasted amazing and the service was beautiful. No complains & would come again.

I highly recommend the pisco and the ceviche. Both were excellent. I really enjoyed my Quinotto too. It was flavorful and filling, especially for a vegetarian dish. The beet salad was a bit bland, and my partner's steak was overcooked, but it still had good flavor. If not for that I would have given it 5 stars.

Food is tasty, but portions exceptionally small and overpriced for the class of restaurant. $17 avg cocktails. $28 ceviche (not including chips which are $6 extra!). Have lived in SF 9 years so I know what to expect. $200 total for 2 mains, 1 appetizer, 1 side and 3 cocktails. Yikes.

This place is amazing and I’m giving it 5 stars! The only reason I’m giving 4 stars for food is because the appetizers were a great portion and value, but the pork shoulder main was disappointingly tiny with only 4 yuca fries in a HUGE plate and they forgot the watercress salad (they brought it later)

Have been to this location many times over when I lived in the neighborhood. Many years ago. They have very good dishes and a somewhat impressive Mac and cheese! Recently visited and was a little let down by the service and some of the dishes. Their ceviche is very good and worth it that's for sure.

Restaurant gave away our table. Waited politely for 25 minutes until another table was available outside. Finally got seated only to have the host ask us to move to a smaller table to seat another group who wanted our table. When we declined the manager came over and started bad mouthing us to the host in Spanish - I guess assuming white people don’t speak Spanish? Needless to say, we left. It was a real bummer all around, TBH. I love Mochica and have been eating here for years.

I have a strong appreciation for Peruvian cuisine. The tuna ceviche offered a delightful refreshment, while the lomo saltado impressed with exceptionally tender beef. The seafood dish, reminiscent of curry but distinct, stood out as the highlight. The overall dining experience justified the cost.

Highly recommend everything, but esp the margaritas and tapas. Outstanding and great service too!
