Unassuming spot but some of the best sushi I have found. And I eat a lot of sushi at a lot of restaurants throughout the country. Excellent spot! The will be back. Thank you.

Everything was perfect. We loved everything about this place. Never been to Japan but from the reviews of others that have been, they say its authentic. might have to believe because we have been to many japanese restaurants and the never tasted like here. So thank you for the experience. Our Staff were very pleasant and nice. It is pretty pricey tho but delicious.

The quantity of the food is eye opening. it is so so small portion with the same high price as New York or Chicago. Won’t come back again for sure.

The food here is authentic. That means it's not murdered with 19 lbs of salt. If you don't know anything about japanese culture or Japanese food then don't leave 1 star reviews for things you don't understand. Musashi has out standing food the American tounge is just broken. The staff is very friendly and they work very hard. I find it very interesting when people say the staff was rude. 99% of the time the customer was the one who was rude. I wish the staff could leave reviews for the customers so other restaurants would know the KARENS and could refuse them service. Then maybe people would be a lot nicer. Anyways this is a great restaurant for authentic Japanese food. Don't listen to those 1 star reviews from Karen's that would never be happy with anything in their life.

Visited last night for the first time. I ordered a bento box with the steak, it looked amazing and it tasted even better! Sorry, I was too hungry to take a picture. The employees were pleasant and overall our group of 8 had a great time. I will definitely come back. Keep up the good work guys!

Food is very good. Price is not $10-20 more like $30+ per person. Service is good too. During dinner time hard to get a table.

Amazing authentic food! Nice sizes and good prices. The Bento options are great. They have the best Japanese beers too and it's a great atmosphere. From the great taste of the simple misso soup to the fresh fish, it's all great! Excellent, will be back for sure!

Really cute Japanese restaurant. Its quite small and often times has a long wait but the food is always really good. The udon noodles are my favorite in the charlotte area. I also recommend their bento boxes and the agedashi tofu

This was a small place with one sushi maker. There wasn't enough variety of food for my taste.

The service here is great, both quick and friendly. The food is authentic and traditional. If you want Japanese food, this is where you get it. The food is reasonably priced, considering how good it tastes. I would definitely recommend as a family experience if you have older kids, as the small building would not accomodate for super loud noise.

It's been six months since we moved here! FINALLY GOOD SUSHI and it was worth the 50mins wait!

This is my favorite place to get my Japanese comfort food fix. The ONLY Japanese restaurant in all of Charlotte. Let me say that again. This is the ONLY Japanese restaurant in Charlotte. End of story. I used to live in Japan and short of spending $1600 to get there this is it. When I need to feel like I want some of my Japanese comfort food this is where I go when I miss Japan more than anything. I really wish I could go here more often.

My husband and I live in Pineville and when we think about sushi we absolutely love eating at Musashi! Musashi offers many traditional Japanese dishes including one of my favorite dishes Tempura Soba hot or cold! The assortment of sushi and bento box offerings add to their winning lineup!

The people in Charlotte are lucky—they have this gem of a restaurant!

THE BEST SUSHI EVER. I have been going here forever me and my family loves it here. The staff are so sweet. Food is so authentic so delicious. Please be patient when coming they are a family business and have two servers, they make their food with love, so it takes time. But I will let you know that the wait is worth it. We will forever come back, and will not stop. 10/10

I ordered the steak teriyaki and it took almost 40 minutes to come to the table. When it did, it was cold. Other than that the food was ok but nothing special. My wife ordered sushi and it was just a blob of fish and rice, no presentation. Doesn’t seem like the staff is very interested in what they’re preparing.

Authentic, unique, top quality. The sashimi selection was fantastic and fresh, and the soup, gyoza, and cucumber roll was also great.

Great place! Ate at the sushi bar with my friend and both of us are super satisfied with the food! I got the pork cutlet and he got the ramen bowl. Would recommend and go again!!! Also, the bathroom has an interesting bidet.

Enjoyed the food but the chicken katsu and salmon/tuna nigiri could have been a bit better. I probably wouldn’t return for the services.

Moving from San Francisco, it took us awhile to stumble upon a place where we can grab Japanese comfort food like we were used to in the Bay Area. Not maki the size of a baseball bat draped in mayo-based sauces. Not a menu containing Japanese, Chinese & Thai food (cover everything, master of nothing). No trendy vibe. What we found here are staples you’d find walking into a small town shokudo. The lunch menu always features an off-menu special like Katsu Curry or Karaage. The sushi is straightforward, approachable and always fresh as are the daily specials. Perhaps the top dish is the Nabe Udon which reminds me of the comfort food my grandmother would make on a Sunday night. Other authentic dishes include the Hot or Cold Tempura Soba, Katsu Don, Ika Karaage, Agedashi Tofu and Croquette. There are bento boxes and teriyaki selections available as well. Service is always great and you can tell the staff has been together for awhile. The primary server is awesome - she works super hard and manages the entire space. They have a tatami room for private dining and larger parties as well. Parking is super easy in the shopping center but the lines can be long. All in all, the most authentic Japanese restaurant in Charlotte.

Worth the wait for the quality of the food and fish. A more authentic and traditional sushi restaurant. The servers were kind, courteous and hard working. We arrived at around 6pm on Friday and waited about 30 minutes outside. Will definitely return.

Cold walk in based on a referral from a worker at a local Asian market. Told us we’d get a great meal, for a great price. He wasn’t lying. They do close for employee lunch and dinner prep from around 1-4 (I think) but, anyway, we go there just before 1p and they graciously took us and we had a full, fresh, delicious lunch. It pays to ask the locals!

TERRIBLE! Read this before you go here! We drove an hour to dine here all because of the great reviews saying this was an authentic Japanese restaurant. We were told it was a 20 minute wait, which was no problem, even though another waitress said she was clearing a table at the moment. We walk around for 30 mins and decided to go back inside since we never received a call. We see the same blonde haired waitress seating a couple who had just walked in, which is extremely unprofessional!!! Why even have a waitlist?! But that’s just where it STARTS. The same waitress, the one who had us waiting for NO REASON, takes our order after sitting for 10minutes. Keep in mind, the people who came in after us (but sat first) are already eating. She brings our appetizers but forgets our drinks. The pork gyoza was definitely frozen, the meat inside was grey. Tempura was bad, we think they needed to change their fryer oil. The rest of the dinner was just so slow, we waited sooo long for everything to be below average!!!! The tonkatsu ramen smelled like sulfur, aren’t broths supposed to make your mouth water?! My wife got the tonkatsu dinner and they give you half of a scoop of rice for 2 big pork chops. After all this, they bring us $100 tab!!! WHATTTTTTT!!!!!!! NEVER GO HERE SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE!!!!

Closest ramen I had to a ramen in Japan in Charlotte. The attention of the staff and the atmosphere is always great and chill. 10/10

I've been here twice and have some mixed feelings. On one hand there's an air of authenticity to the place. Some of the staff working here are Japanese - including the guy behind the sushi bar when I stopped in for lunch. It's a nice touch that they have food sample displays in the front of the store like you find at many restaurants in Japan. The staff are all friendly. I've had the tonkatsu here and thought it was pretty respectable. There are certain things they don't have on their lunch menu - including a la carte nigiri. At least as of the time of writing (April '23) they have a "Set B Lunch" with sushi, but I honestly wouldn't recommend it. Nori on the hand roll was soggy, the nigiri was so-so and heavy on the rice, and the roll you get with it is too big to eat in one bite. I think that whole thing could use a re-vamp. I'd be curious to swing by again around dinner time and see if it's a different experience.

Im not sure who wrote the reviews. Waitstaff are nice. Loved the hot wet cloth to wash up with. Wanted to love this tiny hole in the wall. But I have to say i was grossed out when the sushi chef wore no gloves and touched everything!! There did not appear to be a sink or any way to wash hands either. I didnt know how to politely leave but so wont go back and cant recomend.

Best in the Charlotte greater area for authenticity... best chirashi and unaju I've had in a very very long time. Simple establishment. Food done right! And most importantly the rice and fish were fresh and perfectly seasoned. Miso flavorful. Tomago delicious. You would think this is a very basic minimum requirement yet just about every other "top rated" japanese restaurant I've tried in the charlotte area has manged to screw this up and go after frilly presentations and alcohol heavy menus instead of quality food! It's an 45 min drive from where I am... and I won't be wasting my time or money anywhere else.

What a hidden gem! Unassuming in a Food Lion shopping center and completely delicious. Great options for beer and sake. The tempura was delish. And the sushi was some of the best I’ve had in the city. Can’t wait to come back and try some more authentic Japanese entrees!

Ordered takeout for lunch. I got two rolls a tempura shrimp and a doger roll. The rice on the rolls was so over cooked and soggy I can’t even eat them. Complete waste of money and I was really excited to try this place because of the good reviews.

Always and forever will be my favorite place for japanese food. The katsudon bowl here is my go to and the flavor never misses. The fish used for sushi is so fresh and everything is delicious. This is a must try restaurant. It is a small location so it can get pretty packed. They used to have two areas for hidden seating room but now it's just one.

The most authentic Japanese restaurant I’ve been too. The food’s flavor was extraordinary, I ordered the spicy salmon Roll and another of their special rolls. Keep in mind the place is a little cozy so it may be a bit of a wait but it is 100% worth it.

One of the best Japanese restaurant in town. Appetizers were great and the ramen was one of the best I've had. It was really busy during their dinner hours, so there may be a wait time.

It used to be very good. When I say that it’s all about their sushi quality. I’m surprise over the years this place is no longer a good quality sushi restaurant. Here is why: we ordered their signature sushi dinner and they are ok. But their rolls are not. I got 2 salmon rolls that are not fresh AT ALL. Told the waitress and she didn’t say anything. Consider the wait time outside the restaurant as well as sitting at the table. Almost 50 min waits, you would expect a nicely presented sushi dinner but it didn’t happen. Funny thing they put a notice outside saying they don’t do habachi. It almost sounds like they are too good to do habachi. Oh, btw , the customer dining in that night had a room reserved and they are loud as hell. None of the waitress stay up and reminds the groups. Im not going back for sure.

Wow! I read the great reviews, but didn’t think it could match New Zealand Cafe or Rusans. I was way off. Hands down the best sushi I’ve had in Charlotte. The fish seemed way fresher and the rice was perfect. The wait staff were extremely attentive and polite. My girlfriend and I immediately decided this is our new favorite spot. We will definitely be coming back.

We absolutely love this place! Go here if you want authentic Japanese cuisine. Our favorites are the agesaki ika, agedashi tofu, and the tempura udon. The sushi is fantastic as well - simple and traditional. (Go elsewhere if you're into the saucy, deep fried, cream cheese type of rolls.) This place does get super packed right when they open for dinner, so go early or arrive right after the initial rush. Service is always fast and friendly. Don't hesitate. Go now!

So the AC died while we were there. It was like 89 degrees inside by the time we left. Food was okay, service was okay. Just okay

Best part of dinner was going home and vomiting. Got a table and was told if we order sushi, min 40 min wait. I get it, it’s hard to find workers and maybe they only had one sushi chef. We ordered Tonkotsu, Udon and bento box. Might as well sprung for a .39 ramen pack and ate at home. Would have been better than the dirty dish water tasting broth. I have no clue how anyone can say the ramen and udon is good at this place. For a so called authentic, the local Applebees dirty dish sink has better flavor. The pork was literally boiled and was like rubber. Only a half of egg and a see through piece of fish cake was in bowl with about 50 stands of noodles. The udon was ok. The bento box, was vile. The chicken was like eating rubber bands. The cali roll, might as well called it the rice roll with a spec of avacado and crab. Can’t say much more about the sushi since we couldn’t order it but if the cooked stuff was that bad, I am sure a can of starkist would blow away their sushi.
