The food is so fantastic! Everything I've had is amazing.

We had lunch here today. Blown away!! My wife and I are both from Detroit. We are familiar with good Mediterranean food. This spot was the best we have had in the area - hands down!!

Very enjoyable time. Service was top notch. Food came as ordered. And it was served at the appropriate temperature. If you are thinking of going do yourself a favor and go.

Update: this place is consistently good. Brought an out of town friend here because he specifically wanted Mediterranean food. Said it was some of the best he's ever had. Stamp of approval! We had this place recommended to us three times since moving here so we decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did because it was phenomenal! I got the meat mezza. The beef skewer was flavorful and juicy. The hummus was smooth and delicious. As was everything else on the plate! The falafels, the tzatziki, the tabouli! Fresh made pita was also amazing. My husband got the manakish pizza. It was really good and it was a big pizza for the price. The service was great. The place was clean and super cozy. The only thing I didn't care for was the baclava. It had a good flavor it was just very chewy. But still five stars from me! Great food, great service, great atmosphere. We live close by and will definitely be stopping in more. Looking forward to trying more of the menu

Loved the food!! The service was also great and attentive. The pita is the size of a large pizza and comes out hot. So delicious. Everything we tried we enjoyed. The portions were large enough we had leftovers for lunch the next day. The only thing we didn’t like was the noise level. It was hard to hear across the table because of the noise.

We usually get take out. Food is very good and consistent. I recommend the gyro.

Been a few times. Really great flavor. Unfortunately our portions have been really hit or miss on the minced lab over hummus as you can see in photos. The one by the fork has almost no hummus, as beneath the meat it was just bowl and only the hummus you see is what you get - along with the smaller bowl dish. The plate was a proper portion I would expect so you don’t just wind up eating minced lamb with nothing else (which I did with the bowl). Mango lassi is really good. The Turkish coffee wasn’t great for us, very very burnt tasting. We’ve had great service and really slow inattentive service - so also hit or miss. When portions are right and service isn’t bad, I think this is a go-to spot but we have been disappointed the last couple visits.

The pita is hands down the best in Portland! Hummus mid. Tahini mid. The chicken in shawarma was very good but my only knock was the rice, it was a super sticky jasmine rice, you’d think it would be a fluffy basmati rice???

Delicious food, great proportions, some of the best hummus and falafel I've ever had. Cute vibes, staff was friendly, excellent vegetarian options.

I've been eating here for years and it's always fantastic. My vegan family comes and eats "family style" - so many things to share. Muhamara, falafel, taboulleh, fried cauliflower, and zaatar fries are our biggest favorites. Of course the fresh pita can't be beat. Very happy, full kids at the end of our meal!

Small family type restaurant with excellent food. Gluten free options. I had the chicken skewers on salad and falafel and fries. I’ve had better fries but the rest was fantastic! I also had Lebanese wine, which was delightful! They have a gluten free pita and my friends said it was tastier than the regular.

THE HUMMUS, GOOD LORD, THE HUMMUS! It’s amazing. Very heavy on the tahini, exactly how I like it. We had the falafel wrap and the chicken wrap. Both were really delicious, and a lot of food. Next time, I would split the wrap combo with someone else. With the hummus and salad, it’s plenty of food.

We ate here last night! What a great experience we had. The food was amazing. The portions were generous. It was the best lamb kebab I have ever had and the sauces, wow! If I lived closer this might be a weekly place for me.

It has been a long time since I've been here for a meal, and it's as delicious as I remember it to be! The huge fresh out of the oven pita bread that's brought to your table with dipping oil is just for starters. However, it could be a meal itself. I can't go without an order of humus to drag the bread through either. This time, they added a cute butterfly made of cucumber. My go-to dishes are the kabobs. Tonight, I had the salmon. This comes with safron rice, two skewers, and sides of toum and tahini for dipping. We decided on dessert, which was the Lebanese style cheese cake. It's not a traditional cheese cake like you think, but I liked it better. Great creaminess, but not sweet like American desserts. The lady next to us had the lamb kabob salad, and it looked amazing. She even said so. I always think that these dishes could be split, but then, I'd have no leftovers for the next day! We went on a Monday evening and were able to be seated immediately. Super nice and friendly! Everyone got us seated quickly our order was taken so fast. The service here was amazing I love the beef kabob plate! The pita was amazing I love how it's just fresh and made right when you walked in! All the employees welcome you in and was so caring! I'm so pleased to come here they did such a great job, food was fantastic, you feel so comfortable and welcomed. Love eating here such a very relaxing and amazing place to eat.

Delicious lamb as always, not sure how the quality over the years stays this consistent but impressive. The hummus and tabouli combo with the bread is so good. The dip that comes with the bread is drinkable.

No need to be verbose, it's just excellent Mediterranean food with a boisterously friendly and attentive staff. I've had several different dishes and several locations and it's all top tier.

Delicious, yes, but $10 for a plate of hummus seems high. But it is delicious and a Portland classic. The mezza plates are a must.

My family enjoys coming to this restaurant (there are two other locations one in SE Portland and another in Gresham) Parking is tricky, we often go around the block and park residential. The restaurant itself is pretty small and has a close/tight feeling. There is parking outside, but it's along a busy street depending on the time of day. If you are in a wheelchair, this might not be the most convenient location to visit. (Gresham location is easier to park and a little roomier) We absolutely LOVE the food. They bring out the most delicious and fresh bread that compliments hummas, babaganush, and tahini sauces. I like the falafels and meza plates, the wraps are filling and tasty. The food is flavorful and middle eastern. They serve lunches and dinner. The staff has always been gracious and nice. They explain well if you have questions about the menu.

Food is always good!! Love the kids plate. My partner made this plate from separate items because they are vegan/gluten free. This should def be a menu item please. See pic. Also, single stall bathroom for those who need that info.

It had been several years since my last experience at Nicholas. We ordered the veggie platter for two. The food doesn’t have the same complexity as it did years ago, but still filled our bellies nicely.

the food was a little slow coming out on certain items....maybe an order was forgotten?? Friendly staff, good food. I think the lentil soup recipe changed and I liked the one from memory more. Some dishes are very heavy on onions. I had a spinach pizza and the vinegar onions were overpowering.

The lunch we had was amazing and beautifully presented. Fabulous flavors and delightful owners.

Food is excellent! We ordered quite a bit as our mezza. I love the coziness of the restaurant, as well as the quality of service. We spent some extra time just to hang out while we ate and never felt rushed.

We actually did take out for 7 adults and two children pre-holiday. The food was delicious, well-prepared and with generous portions. The lamb, salmon & vegetable kebab's and the baba ganoush were especially popular! The bit of service we used was great. Will definitely be back.

I ordered a falafel wrap for takeout via Clover. It advertised the falafel wrap as 16.50, but then there's a mandatory add-on that ups the price closer to 20 dollars. It felt shady. When I got the falafel wrap, it was pretty bland. The falafel was very dry and didn't have much flavor, and the fillings were also fairly plain. I don't know what this place is like in-person, but I dont recommend it for takeout.

Best tzatziki I’ve ever had. Lamb dishes were cooked perfectly succulent and flavorful.

The service was great. Loved the bread. Salmon was tender. Wish l had asked for more spice/heat. The atmosphere was great - beautiful art.

Had the veggie kabobs. It was delicious! Had a great pesto sauce. Also ordered fries and they had a great pepper seasoning and weren't oily. This place was very delicious. They have meat, vegetarian, and vegan food. Fresh pita bread was constantly refilled during our meal. I loved it and will be coming again.

The service was lacking tonight and we didn't enjoy our experience tonight for many reasons. The host sat a family right next to us and the tables were VERY close to each other. We were so uncomfortable the whole time cause it was hard blocking out each others conversation and just felt on top of each other. It was annoying cause there were several open 4 person tables that could have been sat at that were not as close. It was also frustrating because even though we sat first, order first, and a smaller size party, we were served second after the family next to us. Then we our food came, they tried to serve our food to the family next to us even though they already got theirs. The waiter said something about being shown the ticket for their table not ours. We kinda think they gave them our food originally and we happen to order the same thing, which is why we got served second. Also, my husband wanted a Kebab Skewer a la carte not a meal but ended up with a meal. So he ended up with two $20+ plates instead just the one with a skewer on the side adding another $10-$13 dollars to our tab. We couldn't find a opportunity to fix the situation cause they were so busy that they were rushing by our table to fast we could never grab them, so he decided to eat both plates and have extra leftovers. They also never came by to refill our drinks until we are asking for to go boxes and the check. Then we got to go boxes and had to ask another waitress again for the check when it became clear the other one wasn't getting it for us. With how many to-go pickups they had while being there, it's clear they need one more person on staff. Most of our complaints stem from them being understaffed and rushing to keep up with demand. It's sad cause I feel bad for the staff but it feels unfair to still have to reward them with a tip when the service was not good. The worst part is the food is not even that good. So it was a unpleasant experience for underwhelming food. I wish we just go the food for pick up, we walked in excited for date night and left wishing made a different choice.

What can I say? Probably some of the best Mediterranean food I've ever had. A must go to here in Portland.

Great food. Service was perfect. Portion sizes are large. Veggie Mezza Platter was enough to serve 2 people and still have more than half left over.

Hot and delicious pita with texiki sauce was very welcoming in this cold Oregon weather. Vegetarian meal was delicious with hot falafel, salad , hummus and creamy dipping sauce. Atmosphere was quiet, friendly and welcoming. We're happy to bring some sweet on the go..will definitely visit again if in the area. Parking was not outside the establishment, but closeby.

Exceptional restaurant! Very good food. Lamb Kebab was tender and flavorful. Rice was very tasty. Their bread came out like a 14" pizza steaming hot from the oven. Highly recommended. Would be a great place to take a date. But it's not huge so it might be difficult to get a seat at peak time, not sure.

Hands down this is my favorite Lebanese restaurant in Portland. I particularly love this location for the ambiance! Pitas are always fresh and huge, and the food is always delicious. They never disappoint me! If you don’t love the food from Nicholas there must be something wrong with you!

Food was alright. Great Pita Bread. Pizza was okay. Atmosphere is very mom and pop hole in the wall feel. Wanted to like this place but the food is very hit or miss. I will say that their pita bread is absolutely delicious. Taste fresh and I can personally eat a ton of it. Same with their kebabs. The misses were their sauces/hummus and pizzas. The pizza while looking delicious tasted a little too sweet and oily for my personal taste. The hummus tasted alright and their tzaziki sauce, I’ve tasted better. I got the most mezza so I can try everything but for the price and feeling like I only liked half of it was a bit disappointing. Would still come back here, but I’d recommend their kebab and pita dishes more for next time.

As always, the food was incredible! Got to enjoy some gluten-free pita, and I would highly recommend the shawarma plate. Never been disappointed by this spot :)

This is worth the drive and the food is excellent. Quiet, house made, small bar. Won't go wrong.

Don't let the exterior of this place fool you. Inside is a really cool inviting ambiance with rich Mediterranean wood tones and artwork. The food was so amazingly good, we dug in and forgot pictures! (Will add next time). Portions are on the larger side. We shared the Shawarma plate and Tabbouli salad, which were great compliments to each other. The fresh pita was the best I've ever had. Servers were young, inexperienced and not overly knowledgeable about the menu, which showed, but they were friendly. Would absolutely return.

This place smell like Mediterranean food! The environment is also pretty Arabic. The food was awesome.. they were pretty full but we were seated in 10 minutes, the service was also quick. It’s a great place to enjoy true Mediterranean food and atmosphere. Their complimentary pita bread was huge and it was freshly made.

Maybe we came on an off day. First, we got a beef kebab plate when we ordered lamb. It was fine, it was still good, no big deal. Them we found a hair baked into our pita. We noticed the man making the dough didn't have a hair net on, so it was probably his hair, gross. Finally, I tried the baklava, which I watched the server microwave. When it came, it was soggy, overly chewy, and had no crisp. Not what we were expecting with all the good reviews.

We catered our wedding through this place because they have my favorite gyro in town -- and their GF pita is awesome. Delivery and prices were reasonable, and the food arrived looking beautiful and fresh. It was easy to offer vegetarian/vegan/GF without sacrificing anything for guests without restrictions. They do have a 20% service fee plus ask for a tip, which was confusing, but ... for a wedding, that's kind of how it goes. Our guests raved about the food, especially the lamb kebobs and falafel. The walnut/red pepper hammara dip is also super tasty. We had gotten a tip from another vendor that there would not be enough kebobs if we didn't order extra. We did order extra, but wound up with lots more than needed.

I got the lamb kabobs and I thought they were over cooked. The hummus was yummy and they do have a GF pita. The servers were nice but they did not clear dirty dishes from the table in a timely manner. Nor did they check to see if we needed anything. Maybe the wait staff is new.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. Bring your friends, enjoy the atmosphere! The pita is delicious and the olive oil dip is spectacular!

The bread is as good as it gets .. portion are good and full of flavor … however since it’s a small place and kitchen was right next to seating area .. it was hot sitting in esp in August

It was a beautiful grey day in SE Portland. With no plans but to enjoy the day and each others company. Long lost lovers reunited. With empty stomachs and full hearts, we found ourselves at Nicholas restaurant. It is no trouble for us to love find joy in sharing everything so amazingly tasty. The menu is full of so many flavors and temptations. It was a pleasure to sit down and experience this meal. A beautiful v chill atmosphere with a dope patio area in the front HELL YEAH YUMMY! We didn’t want our meal to end so we got a flight full cinnamon mint tea to make the wonderful time together last a few moments longer. Thank you for the absolutely fantastic food!

We really enjoyed the hot bread and the simplicity of the menu after COVID. They focus on their best dishes and deliver them perfectly.

This place has gone full rip off mode. I Have been going to this place for years. The quality has always been average. Hence I used to go there for value. But now they have removed all prices from their menu. I had the chicken kabob, asked for a side salad and iced tea bill was $39. They charged $4.5 for iced tea and again $4.50 for a refill so my iced tea was $9 ,as much as I usually pay for a whole lunch. I should have known as soon as I saw there was no prices on menu now.

Fresh, hot pitas with the za'atar start every meal off perfectly. We've been here many times, and it's been a favorite place of ours for years. The staff are very kind and welcoming, the food is always fresh and delicious, and we always have leftovers to enjoy the next day.

We came to your restaurant almost every month services is always excellent, but not today, the waitress was somewhere in lala land. No one asked as how was the food. The body language was unfriendly. But I love the food and I will try it again.

1st Lebanese foods I've ever had and I thought it all flavorful, abundant, and delicious. The wait staff was very gracious and quick.

I went here 5 months ago after a procedure and it was the best meal I've had in ages! Came here again this week and my girlfriend and I barely talked aside from the pleasured food groans you get when the meal is too good! Even the leftovers the next day were incredible! Holds up to it's good reputation - consistency in quality between the locations. Just blissful! 10/10

Always great food with generous portions. This has been one of my go-to spots for Lebanese food for the last several years and I've never been disappointed. Service is always fantastic and everyone is kind and attentive. Was just here for a belated birthday treat after moving back to the area and really appreciated the outdoor seating as well.

Service was kinda slow even though they weren’t busy. The giant flatbread and dipping sauce that everyone is given was nice (but filling). We both ordered lamb pita wraps, they were OK but not standout, a little skimpy on meat and flavor. Fries were fine with a nice spicy sauce. No prices on the menus, and as I’d expected because of that, our bill was on the high side for what we got; two wraps, two soft drinks, and fries was $52 before tip.

Everything about Nicholas is great. The food is delicious and the customer service is just perfect. I love the way it's decorated which makes it feel really homey.

We went here for the myriad of gluten free options and the GF pita bread did not disappoint! My brother in law (who has celiac) keeps talking about it. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Everything was tasty except the free pita (gluten-full haha) which was just fine. Edible but nothing fantastic. The space is smaller than expected so if you’re on the bigger side (height or width) you might have a harder time navigating the restaurant. Would recommend!

Went there to have dinner. I don’t know if they are sure about what shawarma is .The chicken shawarma is not actually what is supposed to be; is chucks of horrible chicken with spices. Pita bread I tasteless and not fresh at all. Would not recommend this place as an authentic Mediterranean food

It saddens me to give such a low rating. This rating reflects the service and experiences we had on 03/30. I had placed an order online through their website several hours before pick up. When we arrived our order had been lost. It took 40 minutes for our order to be completed while we waited. We left not realizing that they had given us NO pita, which we had ordered extra and also left out half of two mezzas. Absolutely horrible. My six year old cried because he had no bread for his baba. He was excited for it all day. It was easily one of the worst take out experiences I have ever had. Complete failure. The food is good. Some of the best Lebanese in Portland. We usually go to the location in Gresham, which is far superior in both service and food quality. I don’t think I will ever return to this one on Broadway. Update: We were also double-charged. Unbelievable.

Super disappointed in takeout prices and food quality. Paid $24 for soup and salad - the $8 ‘bowl’ was 1.25 cups and is very bland. The $16 salad portions were also underwhelming for the price. I know everything has gotten more expensive - but I won’t be back.

Later in the evening dinner. Server was excellent. Food was same as I have had before. The room was chilly and there was an overwhelming cleaning solution scent that I found off-putting. You should not be cleaning bathrooms while guests are in the close by area dining room.

Every time we come here had been a fantastic experience. We love them so much our parents bring up a dish every time they visit us in Seattle

Very cozy with nice service. The food quality was a bit unsatisfactory. The bread wasn't baked all the way. The chicken and lamb were either too much cooked (almost burnt) or too raw. The rice was delicious. The salad, honestly it was green mixed package from costco, nothing special.

A really lovely place. The service was attentive and helpful. We asked a lot of questions and were very patiently answered. the pita bread is AMAZING and I've never seen anything like it!!! The food was incredible. I am extremely picky about my hummus and tabbouleh and both of them were amazing. The tzatziki was rich and not too watery with the cucumber, extremely flavorful. The falafel was moist and flavorful, I could have eaten a whole mountain and still wanted more! our whole group was also really impressed with the chicken pizza - if you're even a little curious, definitely try it, we all loved it! I had toum for the first time here and I am in LOVE, please try it and put it on everything (like I did, haha)!! The shawarma and kebabs were also all so delicious. Even the rice was great, and I really liked their Mediterranean pesto on the cabbage salad!! I would come back just for that (and the toum), but instead I'll come back for everything. The Turkish coffee I ordered to finish the meal was also wonderful. The only thing I was a bit disappointed in was the baklava, as it was a little dry for my taste, though I imagine that's a personal preference. Overall, I highly recommend going here if you're looking for a wide variety of delicious food!

The food is always tremendous. Unfortunately, the service has drastically declined recently. Last time we were there, it took over 15 minutes to take our order. Then after 30 minutes of waiting and watching people who were sat after us get their food and almost finish their food we were checked in on and our order was not put in. Another 20 minutes our food comes out. It was not what I ordered. another 10 minutes go by, i decide to just ask it to go and it's done. It seemed like the employee was annoyed with us even though we were very understanding. It didn't help it was my birthday, which they did not know.

Everytime I go through Portland, I plan a stop there.

Don't let the 3 stars keep you from here. This is only for the NE Broadway location. The lamb was a big over cooked and they don't use the same rice as the Gresham location, nor do they give enough Toum and tzatziki. If you want an amazing experience, go to the Gresham location.
