Folks there are very helpful, kind, and respectful. Our canoe experience start was a bit late, partly due to the Labor Day crush, but mostly because customers don't read the request to show up 20 minutes before departure to fill out the forms and sign in. We tried the 1-hour canoe excursion with our grandson, and he thoroughly enjoyed it! However, for the next one we will purchase and bring a small oar for him, so he can participate. The river was a bit low in a few spots, and sometimes we chose the wrong side of the river at the "rapids". but it's easy to move the canoe and get back in. All in all, a fun day!

Tubed with friends & family this weekend - we booked a 9AM spot and it was fun, peaceful and the scenery was beautiful. I was surprised at how flexible Northbrook canoe is about reservation modifications including partial refunds on the day of the event! Everyone was professional, helpful and friendly. Went with a large group on the 1.5 hour trip and had a great time. It was two people to each canoe and there was a great experienced gentleman who hung back and helped those who got stuck or flipped their canoe. I felt safe the whole time. The water is not deep; worst case scenario if you did fall out, you could stand up. I am not fit at all and was fine with the level of rowing. The current does most of the work. Then there is dinner waiting, I had the ribs, which were delicious. They set up a couple of bonfires with plenty of chairs so everyone could make s'mores for dessert and relax under the stats. Just a beautiful evening and fun time! Highly recommend.

Had a pretty good time! Great experience for my first time canoeing. Would return, but service was just okay. The bus driver was friendly. River’s water level was very low, even after a rain- not sure if that is a pro or a con but I actually was comforted and felt safer because if it. Did not enjoy having to carry the canoe through the mud and past the dam (we did the 2.25 hour option) Could be a great experience for family and kids.

Lovely as always. It was a perfect day. They helped my 83 year old father in and out of the kayak.

Pros: 1. Good location and easy in/out; 2. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful; 3. The equipment is in good shape; 4. The river is nice here and you don't get hung up in too many places where the water is shallow. Cons: 1. Not all the staff are friendly, especially the cranky waiver lady; 2. You really need to make a reservation, can't walk in; 3. The snack bar has limited hours/ days so check ahead.

We did the paddle and picnic option for our group of 40 Girl Scouts and their families. The price was great, the process was easy to follow. All the staff was friendly and helpful. This was our 2nd year in a row, we will be back again next year!

Super fun and beautiful. Water was a little low, so there were a few times I had to pull the canoe through the rocks lol. Overall great place! Staff was friendly, and there weren’t many people out there. A little pricey compared to some other rental places, but the serenity was worth it.

Important things to know, we had a reservation at 11am. We arrived 20 minutes prior as they stated. Staff was disorganized and RUDE! Not just one but almost everyone we encountered or asked a question! On a 95 degree day it was almost two hours before we hit the water! Can’t wait to do it again with anyone but Northbrook, would not recommend.

The tubing and employee experience was fine itself however, after being caught in a thunderstorm, shocked by lightning, and no one coming to find us nor offering any type on consoling when we finally found the place, got back on land, and told someone (the man laughed) I don’t necessarily plan on coming back here:) Thank you for the opportunity though

This is our firm's 4th year having a Canoe and Dine summer picnic with Northbrook. The Northbrook Crew is very organized in scheduling and planning, professional in greeting our employees and families and safely driving them to the water activity drop off, and above all, friendly and courteous while our employees and families are attending the event! The food is delicious and they gladly accommodate gluten free and vegan dietary needs. The entertainment is wonderful, with music perfect for the campfire setting and quality talent. They run a smooth operation. My husband and I go tubing often and we keep revisiting Northbrook. It's very convenient to have them drop you off at the start, especially if you bring your own tubes but you can rent their supplies as well. We'll keep coming back again and again!

We had the best time tubing here! Even though we have had little rain this season, there was plenty of water to tube in. The company was great and efficient. We will definitely be back. I would recommend picking an early time slot as it looked quite crowded when we left. We went at 10 am on a very hot Saturday and it was not too crowded at that time.

An excellent idea for a summer party or group get together. Very friendly staff, affordable, fun!

I give it two stars because they are always, always behind schedule. It happens every time I go there, you book a time they tell you to be there 20 mins before that time and then you sit around for 45 mins or longer after that time slot to finally have your number called to get on the bus. Yesterday we sat for over an hour to get on the bus to go up river. The trip itself was awesome, weather was perfect and the Brandywine is beautiful. If they could get their act together and keep the trips on time it would be 4-5 stars but until then they get 2.

We came to Northbrook yesterday to do some tubing, but they let us know that the water was pretty chilly so we switched to kayaks. We've never tried kayaks before but always wanted to, and we had a blast! I highly recommend planning your trip after there's been plenty of rain, that way the water is up a bit and you won't get stuck. We've done tubing before when the water is low and we'd have to get up and walk our tubes to deeper spots, so I'd imagine that would be a big pain with kayaks. We did the 1.5 hour trip, but you can take your time and get out at spots if you want to, you're not held to the time estimate. Also, as an added bonus, the woman driving the bus to the bridge gave us some historical context on the area and it was super interesting.

I took my sons yesterday for a 2.5 hour kayak trip. It was our first time there, but we are experienced kayakers. Luckily, we picked a beautiful day to go. I booked the reservation online a day ahead without any issues. When we arrived, there were several helpful staff members to check us in. We signed a waiver, paid a refundable $20 cash deposit, picked up our life jackets and got on a bus to the launch. That was maybe a 10/15 min drive. The staff gave us the low down on the river and where the hazards were and we were off. The water was very low in spots so we got stuck a few times. There were a lot of tubing people meandering down stream so we had to dodge a lot of people. There were some lovely swimming spots and the water was clear and cold. I would recommend bringing a couple of water bottles with you as well as a waterproof bag. You can also lock up valuables when you check in. I forgot to check out and get my $20 back so they called me. I asked them to just keep the money so they said they would donate it to the staff lunch fund. There are snacks and drinks too you can purchase on site. Bathrooms and changing rooms were very clean. Overall, a fantastic experience and we’ll definitely be back!!

Love going tubing here! Makes the logistics easier for reasonable price and you get to ride a school bus. If you have your own tube and pump it's only $10/pp for a drop off.

Great afternoon on the river for my son’s birthday! Easy booking, easy check in and a great price!

This place has time-left-behind charm, with its ramshackle facilities, buses, and unsprayed gear, but the staff are poorly organized. We waited AN HOUR for our trip in the hot dusty lot by following instructions and arriving ahead of our res by 20 mins. Bus driver was nice but my 12 year old nephew could have done better guiding folks in and out of the water. Oh and if you're allergic to cats, you'll have to suffer through your allergies to pay for your trip and start it off itching as they're stuffed inside the small un air conditioned unclean shack that serves as a check in point. I'd say find another way to spend your day.

Went here last week when we had the air quality warning and ended up being the only people who came that day. Side note the air was fine. It was beautiful and so much fun. The water was moving slow and they let us know before hand but we still chose the longer route. It was a bit on the colder side that day but that was on us for not doing good research. I definitely want to go back on a regular day to see how busy it gets but I loved having it all to ourselves. Just make sure to pack plenty of snacks and bring ice and drinks. I did kayaking with my boyfriend. We were fairly new to the experience and didnt know what to expect. The workers there were super helpful though. They answered our questions and made sure we understood the instructions. We came on a sunny day with slow wind and river speeds. This meant more rowing for us but overall it was an exciting experience. I’d recommend having reliable GPS/internet connection because the network isn’t strong. First of all this place offers tubing, kayaking and Canoe (probably would not suggest it, unless it is big wide open lake like Marsh Creek). Normally we would go to Marsh Creek Watersports, since they have great staff and wide areas for most water sports. We came here on a Saturday for Kayaking, which was probably a mistake. Should have came here on a weekday, when it is less crowded. The staffs here are friendly, there's just not enough of them (Will explain later). When you first walk towards the check in desk, you will have to wait in line to sign in even if you already purchased the ticket online (The wait for us was approximately 20 minutes outside). After you checked in you go get your life jacket, there is another wait for the bus that will take you to your destination, depending if you picked Kayak/Canoe or Tubing, and if you picked 1 or 2 hours. Our wait for the bus was approximately 30-40 minutes, which is fine we expected it from reading some of the reviews. They will give you a number card to tell you which bus you will be boarding via the intercom. The buses have seen better days, but it gets the jobs done that's all it matters. The bus ride for us was 10-15 minutes tops. After you arrive at your destination, you pretty much on your own, apart from the quick safety tip briefing at the beginning. We carried our kayaks to the dock and just went on our way. Beware, depending date/time at times some parts of the river will have very shallow water, I saw a few people getting stuck, we had little to no trouble getting out. But we saw some people struggling to get their kayak out of the water, because it is way too heavy from all the water that got into the kayak. This is where the experience can be sour for some people. There's almost no staff stationed at certain part of the river to assist the customers, apart from one where they tell you to GO RIGHT at the flag (where most people tipped over). There is also way too much tubing traffic for anyone with Kayak or canoe to enjoy the water, as some people will bunch up in groups and you had to maneuver around them on high flowing water so you don't run into them. For inexperience kayakers it might be a little tricky, as there's very little room at certain parts. When you finished your journey there is a little tiny dock that some people have apparently missed and gone all the way down Delaware river and staff members needed to pick them up, as there's no flags or sign to tell you this is the end. At the same time, the water in front of the dock is so deep, you are almost guaranteed to get wet. I was lucky enough to get a staff member to help carry me up so I don't get my phone wet. In conclusion, If you go on a weekday or days when it is less crowded, you will have a much better experience. Also if you don't want to get your phone wet or submerged in water, do not bring your phone at all or bring a waterproof casing if you want some pictures, as the scenery is quite nice. Booked a 2-hour tube adventure at the last minute this week since we took a "staycation" and wanted to make sure the weather would hold. For 2 people at the end of summer on a Wednesday, no issue getting the time we wanted. A few other people had the same idea because when we showed up there was about 14 total on our bus. The check in process was relatively straight forward -- serve yourself signing a waiver outside, then take it to the door of the office and wait for someone to call you in (one person per party go inside, it's small). There was a cash deposit for the equipment to pay and had to show ID. There aren't any lockers or anything on site so if you don't have a waterproof bag to bring with you, just show up early (like it says in the email anyway!) and bring your wallet up then run it back to the car before you go. After you're checked in, you grab a life jacket and wait for your number to be called to get on the bus where they explain some things and take you to the drop off point. Then you kind of get yourself in the river and do your thing! Our reservation was for 2 hours and we didn't try hard to swim or anything, just kind of drifted with the currents, and it took 4 hours to get to the end! It was a relaxing trip. The water was clear and since it was lower we saw so many kinds of fish, some turtles, frogs, birds, and even a snake at the end (allegedly named Henry). The changing rooms were interesting and I'm surprised by everyone saying "real bathrooms not porta potties" because what I saw in the women's side was a curtain in front of a portapotty seat for a bathroom stall and I decided to hold it for civilization. **If you are planning to bring any of your own craft and float alongside rented craft...read below: We planned an extended family day on the river - there were 8 of us. We own two two-person kayaks and planned to transport them to the starting point with our own truck - so we were renting two canoes to transport the other four people. Such a great experience, parking is easy and there is lots of it, bathrooms are clean and right there so you can go before you get on the bus. We have done the kayaking and it was fun!
