Wow! The food was so delicious. I'm from out of town & I was on my way to eat somewhere else during lunch break, when I saw this place. The woman who was working there was very nice and helpful, explaining the food to me. The atmosphere is so cozy and peaceful with nice relaxing music. The flavors are so well done. Seems like they have a lot of time and experience invested into these recipes. I was unfamiliar with many of the foods available, but I picked a few things out (cafe/buffet style) and loved all of it. The woman there also asked me if I wanted soup, and I got some sort of red soup which was excellent. The desserts were just as delicious as the food. Thank you. There's something special about this place that I will not forget. 🌞

Best Ukrainian food I've found east of Minnesota and south of Manitoba. Look -- no one makes the classics like your grandmother -- but Old Lviv serves solid basic Ukrainian classics that will definitely remind you of home. If new to Ukrainian food, this is a great place to try (try the buffet with a side of varenyky). The prices are also good -- focus is on the food in a straight forward cafe setting -- and the service is spot on. Thanks guys for a happy lunch memory 😊 👍

Old Lviv Restaurant is a gem, a unique and authentic eatery that perfectly captures the essence of Ukrainian cuisine. Its small, cozy, homey atmosphere is irresistibly charming. Offering both buffet style and à la carte options, there's something for everyone. Marian, the friendly and multilingual waiter, was wonderfully accommodating with kids' food options. Adding to the authentic experience, a group of Ukrainian men gathered for lunch, their lively conversation in Ukrainian creating a truly immersive atmosphere. I’m eagerly awaiting my next visit to this delightful spot.

This is the best place! The Borscht was the best I've ever tried and I need that recipe, and everything was so delicious and reasonably priced. A must-try for sure!

Absolutely delicious, a wonderful meal, I've never been so thoroughly satisfied by a small-ish buffet. My only complaint is that the dishes weren't labeled; it would have been nice to boast to friends about the delicacies I had been eating.

The complete opposite of Ukrainian hospitality, the impression of attitude towards customers is bad. The food is edible, but the service needs to be changed, the superior attitude of the woman serving.

The sour cherry varenyky were just like I had in childhood 🥰. We came just after the buffet closed but we had delicious borsch, varenyky with potatoes and cheese, mushroom, and of course sour cherry. Everything was great, would come back if we lived in Chicago.

Took a chance and so glad we did! The buffet line looks small, but the quality of the selections and taste were extraordinary! A family owned business that is somehow better than your grandmother’s Christmas dinner. Mashed potatoes and delicious pork and cream sauces, cabbage rolls, incredible chocolate cherry cake, and the best cucumbers and sour cream I’ve ever had. And they let you take home a to-go box by the pound. Mark was an excellent host. Thank you for Old Lviv for an extraordinary meal!

What a lovely place. My daughter and I came and just devoured our food it was that good. Cherry Varenyky were spectacular. Nice and clean hot buffet, the borscht is a must. Our server Marion was so helpful, happy and kind. Ask for him

This place is a hidden gem. If you want to try Ukrainian food and never had this is your spot. The ambiance is classical and homey, the food is good and the dessert are an experience by themselves.

First time here! Absolutely amazing, I felt as if their were actual Ukrainian hero’s sitting around me enjoying every second of my experience. Why? you ask, because the overall aura of the restaurant was that of a pub where you can find your local Ukrainian grandma pumping out perigees and delicious soup right from her kitchen onto your plate! Because the wooden features and Ukrainian wall decor brings you to a small village and you’ve just walked into their local pub. Where even if you may not be able to speak Ukrainian the hostess who wasn’t scared to help dissect what my rambling could be, had the patience to explain to me what dishes were what, what option they included and even helped me decide a great Ukrainian Beer! Yes everyone this may not be your average dive bar or fast pace restaurant but it’s your favorite place to find actual AUTHENTIC Ukrainian food. Definitely coming back! Thank you Old Lviv! Small and lovely atmosphere. Good selection of drinks. Unfortunately there are very few options to order a la carte, and the buffet looks great but do you really want to eat that much? Cuisine seemed authentic since we saw some ladies from the old country preparing the food. Good place for a meal with local flavor nonetheless.

We wanted a Ukrainian restaurant in Ukrainian village where our son lives. We found Old Lviv and we were very impressed. We parked by a Ikramian deli and bakery which added to the fun! And we were amazed when we saw all the wonderful food on the buffet. Beef stroganoff and borscht were excellent! And our waiter offered us an excellent Georgian red wine for only $5 a glass!! We ll be back w family and friends

Im Ukrainian myself from Lviv city. Here in Chicago area I can confidently say it's the best authentic place for Ukrainian food. Everything is delicious and made with love. You can feel it after first bite. And it's a buffet. What else you can ask for? The place is definitely amazing. Stuff is super friendly and professional. I recommend to all as a number one spot no lt only for Ukrainian but for overall good food. Don't miss this place if you ever been passing thru Ukrainian village. My deepest wish for this place to remain the same for ages!!! Love you all;)

We stopped in for the buffet and it was seriously some of the best Ukrainian food i've ever had. Coming from someone that has gone to culinary school and having attention to flavor details I would put that mushroom sauce on everything...maybe even my cereal

A true Ukrainian mom & pop experience! We had the dinner buffet here and we can tell the place is authentic and legit as most of the patrons here were Ukrainians. We didn't make a reservation and as we came in, we were greeted and seated right away. There was a big table next to us having a birthday celebration singing Ukrainian songs and having a fun time. The food choices were great! Lots of variety of salads, meats, and carbs. I saw a couple of cooks that came out of the kitchen to chat with patrons briefly and they are like the hometown babushka that you would expect working hard to make home cooked meal. The server was really attentive and friendly and kept coming back to check on us. The dinner buffet itself is under $20 (comes with a soup) and we had Ukrainian beers as well. It was very cheap and affordable with tasty food. I will for sure come back here again!

This is not how the Ukrainian restaurant should look like. This is kitch. You will find such kind of a restaurant in Ukraine, maybe, in some really deep province.

Simply spectacular. We had the buffet and one of each soup. Everything is delicious, beautiful, and high quality ESPECIALLY for the price. If you're in Chicago you must eat here! The service is very nice too with a cozy atmosphere.

Ми компанією приїхали у Чікаго з іншого штату, встигли зайти у декілька кафе з українською їжею у Українському районі, і можу сказати точно, що в Старому Львові просто неймовірно смачно, дуже по домашньому, це те чого так не вистачає тим,хто як і ми вже давно живемо у США. Їжа вся була свіжа,персонал дуже привітний,всередині кафе дуже затишно,ціни супер низькі для такого місця,а тим більше,що це буфет!Їси скільки хочеш,можеш спробувати усе меню Ми обов’язково ,коли приїдем наступного разу, одразу підемо у Старий Львів за смачною домашньою їжею! Усім рекомендую

Went here during our visit to Chicago's Ukrainian village. We both have the lunch buffet, they were a lot of options, and it came with a serving of borsch. Everything was good, they had a lot of traditional foods, and nothing disappointed us. Like most of the Ukrainian businesses here you will hear both Ukrainian and Russian spoken. The server/bartender spoke Ukrainian. Price was 17 for the buffet which was reasonable. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for authentic Ukrainian food!

We had the weekend buffet and it was incredible. Absolutely more than worth the 20 dollar cost for the high quality and variety. Try the blini. And all the salads. They shine just as much as the borsch and other main dishes.

Loved the traditional Ukrainian flavors and selection at Old Lviv (Staryi Lviv) restaurant. Must try: Borshch soup (included in the price of Buffett) We also tried Ukrainian varenyky (pierogis) with meat (not included in the buffet but worth it — homemade by the restaurant) Buffett that day was a selection of pork and fried white fish, as well as a variety of salads and fruits. The restroom was clean and stocked. Most tables were taken at lunch time. Wait staff was quick and polite. Would return again.

absolutely delicious. they make everything from scratch, its reasonably priced and the variety is well-rounded. it's on a buffet - so if you're hungry just walk in......their borchst is one of my favs in the city.

We were waiting for over 40 minutes without even being asked if we wanted the buffet or not. However, people who spoke Ukrainian and who came after us were addressed much faster. I wonder if it's because I look Latino and my partner is African American. Terrible service. Don't even bother to come here!
