The appetizer that is the stuffed mushroom is great! The miso soup great. Crazy girl and tiger both great. Came at 11am. Minus one star. It’s a snow day and freezing in here. 8/10/24 TO GO order - sashimi was sliced too thick and smelled awful fishy. I wish I would have known before I drove back because they forgot the ginger, wasabi and soy sauce. All I got was a “sorry”. This is why I’m never tipping a to go order again. If you want to retain my business after a big mistake offer a free dish or coupon. My neighbor was here last week and they completely forgot one of their dine in orders. Note to staff- start dressing professionally your appearance is cringe.

Arrived at opening. Waited one hour for one roll. People who came after me got their rolls while you sit there watching everyone else get served. Do not get take out

I really would like to give this restaurant a good review because their food is delicious but their service is seriously lacking. They are obviously understaffed and unorganized. Something as simple as cleaning the table after the customer is done with their meal and delivering a dessert (green tea ice cream) promptly, instead of 20 minutes after it was ordered, is currently not achievable at Oragami, unfortunately.

Great food tonight - I had the Spicy Crunchy roll - my Mrs the Alaska roll - Miso was delicious - jasmine tea was spot on too - quick service - I (we) shall return!

Best in town. Top contender for Northern New Mexico.

Food is great, good Flavor and nice texture. Friendly costomer service, you felt welcomed with fast service. Atmosphere is warm and colorful. I liked there decor. I will go again when I'm back in Los Alamos.

Small, cozy restaurant with delicious Korean food prepared right there. Ordered a Bento box with fried chicken, tempura shrimp and vegetables, white rice and salad. Food came quickly, service was excellent and meal was scrumptious. Highly recommend!

Origami is one of my favorite places in Los Alamos! I've always had good service here and tasty sushi.

The food is good, but the service can be really slow. They have super weird hours, too. And they don't take reservations and never answer the phone, so it's really up to fate whether or not you'll be able to eat here.

Wow! Just visit this place whenever you are at LA. You will never forget the taste of the food, service, or even the amazing tea drink they offer. Totally recommended!

We love going to Origami for takeout or for dine in and have always had a great experience! One time our takeout order was taking a while, but they were so nice about it I couldn’t complain! I would say it’s our favorite restaurant in Los Alamos, and I’d recommend to anyone visiting!

I had a good meal with a new menu added. The rolls and sushi were fresh and good. I'm going to take my parents with me next time.

Ordered lunch to go. Didn't receive part of my order and the food was not great. I got the teriyaki salmon bento box and the fish was extremely dry. The side of dumplings were mushy and gross. Very expensive too.

This place is creating a pleasant dining atmosphere. The food quality has improved significantly since my last visit, making it a delightful experience overall.

Their new ownership is a total rip off! The Nigri is 1/4 the size it used to be! Tiniest rolls I've ever paid for and eel is UNCHEWABLE!!

This is a pretty good sushi place, under new management, and as of the last couple weeks a new menu. It's very similar to the older menu but it seems like portions are a little bit smaller, which is not a real problem because they were overly large to begin with. Apparently they temporarily don't have a beer and wine license, so no saki for you, until they get it reinstated.

Good food but terrible service! We can always count on them to forget 1 out of 5 items we order, even though they write it down. And then when you let them know they forgot apparently our order goes to the back of the queue because we still don't see that food for 20-30 minutes. It usually takes three times waving the staff down before we're ready to eat too, we usually get food with no silverware, no dishes, and no sauces and they bring us those items one peice at a time. And then it's almost impossible to flag them down to get additional food or pay the check. We believe the problem has to do with the fact that they don't seem to have assigned tables they just all share all the tables.

This place was really good and had really great service. Definitely recommend the Red Dragon roll! The only disappointing thing is they don't have their liquor licence yet to sell alcohol.

It's OK sushi, but it's also probably one of the only places you'll get sushi in the Los Alamos area so I can't really complain

I really like the the rolls and tempura set I ordered. Staffs were kind and I will definitely come back!! 😄

Good Sushi place for such a small town.

First time and the food was delicious and service was great

The food is okay for the area but they never answer their phone when they are open. I've called a few different times to order take out and it just rings and rings and when we show up during business hours they are closed.

Show up way before they are scheduled to close. They like to close early without warning.

Showed up at 7:10. Told me they were closed. Google and door say 7:30. Ppl sitting inside eating. Glad I drove across town from my hotel. Won’t be back.

This place is very comfy and cozy, and the employees are top-notch. The service is very prompt......too prompt as a matter of fact.....did not have any time to enjoy appetizers when the rolls were out and at our table. Small issue, but better than the opposite. The food was good and fresh and presented very well. The portions were very good.....on the larger side(fyi)....the rolls all tasted great with the exception of one which was off the charts!!!! (Crazy Boy) Desserts were also very delicious ....definitely try the Tempura Ice cream!!! Very enjoyable visit and will definitely be back. The only small personal issue I had was the loud country music .......felt like I was at a Truckstop roadside diner and it detracted from the ambiance. Again, that is a personal preference.

This place is wonderful! Great food, great ambiance, great service! Lots of vegetarian options, even saki and beer on the menu. A great place for a celebration too!

Good enough for Los Alamos. Food was good and yummy when we can get in despite the random hours. Our sushi was well made and delicious. Nothing blowing it out of the park and super crowded.

Sushi is pretty good. Staff could be more attentive, having to get up and walk over to them every time I needed anything at all isn't ideal.

Unfortunately, this restaurant has really gone downhill. They're still limping along on their pandemic menu. Their unique dishes are only available as specials sometimes with really basic options. They're keeping a ridiculous price point for pretty basic food. If you're serious about sushi, try Sushi Cafe.

Always a good place to go for sushi. Nice selection, pleasant stuff.

Nigiri and Spicy Tuna Roll Combo is my go to. Finally comes out really fast. Bento boxen (Brian Regan) are good. Beef and chicken teriyaki are good. Korean isn't. Pork is just OK. Vegetable gyoza aren't good.

Fish was absolutely not fresh. If you are unwilling to procure or serve fresh fish, then do not put sushi on the menu. Furthermore, do not tell a customer that your fish is fresh when you know that it certainly is not.

Inexcusably old fish. Staff, while not as knowledgeable as they should be, were friendly and attentive. Sushi was skillfully prepared. The one and only reason for my one star review is that the fish was not at all fresh. We asked the chef directly “ what fish is most fresh” . He answered incredulously “ it’s ALL fresh”. Nope it wasn’t, not remotely, and we selected the best looking fish from what they showed us. Spending upwards of $60 on old fish is unacceptable. If you serve sushi on a Saturday night, (or any night) it had better be fresh fish. We are certainly not returning.

So I will start off saying the food was delicious. We had miso soup, house salad and a mixture of 3 different rolls. It took a very long time for our server to order our drinks and we already knew what we wanted so we went ahead and ordered everything. We got our sushi rolls before our drinks and soup. The rolls came out fast which was nice but we had to prompt our server for the little bowls for soy sauce and our drinks and soup. Our soy sauce ran out so we asked the server for more and he started messing around with the other server and forgot. We ended up taking one from another table. I never tip just 10% but I did this time. The servers were very young and a lot of people came in all at once so I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but when they started coking a joking and just sitting at the register zoning out I got kinda frustrated. I do plan on trying it again to see if the service is the same because the food was so good but if it doesn't improve I will not be back. Also the floor was very dirty.

Not crazy about the food... and for 4 adult, (no alcohol) and 2 of us split appetizers, and 2 had water, the bill was over $100! Not counting the tip! We would not go back.

Arrived on a recent weekday a little after 12:00 for lunch. All tables were clearly occupied, and we waited in the line of about 3 or 4 customers out front for, maybe, 10-15 minutes. Then the host stepped out and told all of us the restaurant is closed, we need to dissolve the line and leave. This was shocking. I would never imagine a competently functioning restaurant would do this. The man in front of me was really mad. The host was completely unsympathetic and just shut the door on us. We live locally, and a co-worker has since told me she watched them do the same thing one night while she'd been able to be seated. We went to Cafe Sushi on Arkansas Ave, and had a million times better service. We've since been back to Cafe Sushi a couple times, and we love that place. I'll never go back to Origami. ZERO STARS.

We went for dinner. The place was very busy. The food was very good. The service is a little slow but the staff are all nice and friendly. The food was better than expected as it is New Mexico not a place I think for sushi. The suprise was great and we will be back. I also had miso soup and salad they were just like in Japan.

Decent enough sushi, kind staff, clean restaurant. Will be coming back.

I love this place. It was a date night favorite pre-covid, on the rare occasion my partner and I were in Los Alamos. I went there again recently with my in-laws to celebrate a life event, and the service was fantastic. Our server was kind, and very patient with us as we ordered what I felt was far too much food! I was very grateful they made it such a good experience for my in-law, and look forward to going back. And the food was great, of course! High quality sushi, yummy appetizers and desserts, and tea! (They do serve their mochi's with whipped cream and chocolate sauce, so if you don't like those, be sure to ask for it to be left off.)

If you like water to drink or rice on your rolls this is not the place for you. Waters are never refilled and rolls measure barely less than a quarter coin in diameter, just enough to get a sliver of the ingredients listed on the menu together. Pick up orders will always be prioritized to dining in so if you decide to sit down, everything is a wait. EDIT: this place has really turned around 5/5

I wanted to bring my significant other here to try something new. It seemed like a nice cozy local restaurant we could enjoy. I ordered us two appetizers, the shrimp shumai and the soft shell crab tempura. Both plates were plated on top a bed of very poorly cut raw julienne carrots for whatever reason, and the shumai had cheap mustard to go with it and there was only 6-8 bites of it. The soft shell crab was the one that hurt the most, I nearly threw up from the first bite, as something tasted very wrong. My partner said he didn't notice but said it tasted really cheap (he is from the East Coast) and ate the rest of it. We also had two sushi rolls, which we both very much enjoyed, those were prepared as you would expect, tasted very good, and were fresh. We were going to order more sushi, but the restaurant ran out of rice... which is 90% of their menu besides the terrible appetizers. Props to the sushi chef, but the back of the house (besides the wonderful sushi chef) needs to fix their kitchen practices. Two stars since the sushi was that much better than the apps. We then got dessert, mochi green tea ice cream, which they cut into 4 bites which was nice, but topped without anything on the menu to let us know with cheap whipped cream and chocolate sauce. We tipped our server Dimitri (not his fault about the food), our bill was 82ish and we paid with a $100 bill and let the server keep the extra 18ish. I did offer to work here, as Origami is nearby and I thought I could help with their kitchen practices, but unfortunately I don't think I want to get involved myself, it isn't my place to do so. Unfortunately, about an hour after we left, both myself and my partner had terrible diarrhea, nausea, and discomfort from food poisoning, most likely from the soft shell crab. We should have gone to the hospital, but opted to take some Pedialyte and home remedies (sushi as eating raw onion) which to my surprise helped by the following day (otherwise the hospital would be necessary in case it was something more serious). This is likely the second or third worst restaurant experience I have ever had, very surprising to me for being in the heart of Los Alamos. In conclusion, the sushi is as you expect, and was made properly, but stay away from anything else on the menu. The appetizers were plated just as poorly as they tasted, and we're just as cheap and likely made in unsafe, unsanitary practices.

Very tasty food, consistent quality. Service and takeout is sometimes a challenge but the sushi is worth it! This is one of our favorite places.

Food was AMAZING 🤩 I would give this place a 4.9 if I could because the one waiter was pretty ‘meh’ but other than that everything was amazing.

We didn't expect to find great Japanese food while travelling in New Mexico, but we stumbled across this place, and were quite pleased with our meal. We had the tempura shrimp and teriyaki chicken skewers, both of which were very good.

Enjoyed 5 dishes which were not sushi. I'm not a sushi eater but their platters of sushi looked really good. Excellent food and atmosphere. Highly recommend Origami's.

Origami has an interesting, diverse menu with noteworthy sushi. They found a way to introduce New Mexican flavors into traditional japanese dishes with their chile relleno roll. It is always clean and the staff are polite and professional.

The food is very good, but the service is pretty mediocre, especially for the prices of the food (very high, especially if you're hungry and want a lot of actual sushi). We didn't have a set waiter and they weren't attentive to us. We would have to flag one down every time we wanted to get our drinks, get cups for the soy sauce, get our rice, etc. They were also late in bringing out some of the food. It's pretty expensive, too, especially for a family, but seeing as it's still the best sushi you'll find in Los Alamos, we will likely be back, but only on special occasions.

Tasty, but menu limited to sushi by lack of a chef. We had California rolls and Miso soup. I like the Santa Fe Roll because green chile is an amazing addition to Japanese cuisine. My wife enjoyed the Rainbow Roll. The seafood component was exceptionally fresh and tasty. Hopefully the will find a chef and restore their full menu.

I'm a big fan of the sushi here, I think it's a good price for the quantity and the lunch time chefs are very consistent in good quality. Ordering online is really easy so take out has been very convenient this past year.

Good food but EXTREMELY hard to get a hold of. Either always get a busy signal or a strange fax noise. Very frustrating.

Good food and decent service for a busy night. Not consistent. 1st time I had the crispy tofu was a revelation, seriously. Went back a month later just for that, but it was only so-so. Bummed me out.

Fantastic sushi restaurant. Everything I've had here has been exceptional. A great local Los Alamos business. Dine-in capacity is limited at the moment due to state restrictions and they do have carryout but expect to wait about 45 minutes to pick up the order.

We were surprised to find such good sushi up here. Quality is great and consistent. Best sushi in Los Alamos, and the service is fantastic. A bit overpriced.

Their food is very tasty and their portions are great. They don’t really listen when you make a modification on a meal, causing you to waste time for a new dish to be cooked. All this while the other food in your order gets cold. Then when they make your new dish, they use the wrong noodles. I’d like to be able to order with modifications and when I go to pick it up, that it’s correct.

Ordered a Dragon Roll for lunch today. Sushi chef noticed that my birthday is tomorrow and made my roll special with the addition of a few small extras after asking my opinions on my personal tastes! The meal was exquisite! Best sushi chef to every serve me a plate. Give the woman 10/5🌟

We got take out for the first time ever and it was all amazing!!! The baked rolls are something we have never seen in VA and they were to die for! We also loved the Crunch and Chile Relleno. Thank you for amazing service as well!

Lots of food for the money. LARGE pieces of sashimi on a bed of rice. Super friendly sushi chef!!! I haven't had many women sushi chefs but she was great!

I sat up at the bar and it was so neat to get to see the sushi chef, Sarah, assembling the rolls fresh right in front of us. The miso soup (spelling?) was great, the sushi was delicious, and the green tea tempura ice cream was fabulous. To my surprise, the dessert was plenty enough for three of us! Thank you Origami team! We will be coming back .

Fresh delicious sushi and a friendly staff!

Origami is one of the fancier, kinda more sophisticated places in Los Alamos. For me, it was love at first sight... I remember the first time I went here. My boss took me out for a lunch, and he wanted to have some sushi. I, personally, never had sushi before, and have never had any Japaneses meals either. It was awesome, such a great first experience! Their staff is amazing: very attentive and caring. The decoration and the serving of meals creates a calming and relaxing atmosphere where you can enjoy your delicious food and forget about your everyday problems. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but if you come during lunch time, get the lunch special which are perfect if you're on a budget. I will be back, guaranteed!

It was an unexpected surprise how good the food was at this mall restaurant. One of the best restaurants in Los Alamos. The service was also good. No complaints at all, I would go back.

The food is consistently great, for the most part. The staff is very friendly. It's the safest bet for good food, in my opinion.

All of the food (except for the veggie gyozas) has been good. The online ordering through selflane seems to be broken; if you place an order online, call to make sure they actually received your order.

good sushi, prepared fresh decent prices (for the area) when I went in to get some sushi, the woman (owner? I think) greeted me but not with a smile. She had this sour look on her face and while I waited for my order she kept glaring at me the whole time. It really made me uncomfortable. Sadly, probably won't be going back again. There are other places to get sushi.

Great food and wonderful service

Very good food and the staff was attentive.

It was a rainy weeknight and the place was packed. I should have left when a couple leaving the restaurant “wished me luck.” I was seated after a few minute wait and then spent the next 20 minutes without service or even a glass of water. When a party was seated next to me and started to receive service from the server, I got up and left.

The service was prompt, and the food was delicious! The Korean Spicy Ramen didn't disappoint, and the Fu-Ki Plum wine made me reminisce of Umeshu in Japan. Highly recommended for anyone seeking good Asian cuisine.
