This place is the spot! The food is delicious and the ambiance is lovely. I had a corned beef hash for breakfast and it was substantial and now I feel energized and ready to take on the day. I’ll definitely be back!

Great food! We were the only ones there, and the food prep was a bit slow. However, we were there on somewhat an off mid day time, so I’ll give them some grace. Space was very clean and felt well cared for.

This is my favorite restaurant in NOVA. It’s unpretentious, the food never disappoints and the employees are always friendly. The steak and eggs with sautéed spinach and the corned beef has with eggs are my favorites. The pizza is outstanding as well. They do run specials, and they are even starting an all you can eat buffet on Thursdays and Fridays beginning July 25 from 4 till 9 pm.

Not the same anymore. New owners have changed everything.

Unfortunately this restaurant has really gone down hill now that it’s under new management. This use to be a great go-to restaurant/diner. I recently went for lunch and the restaurant was totally empty - it had always been a booming place. The prices have gone up and couldn’t believe they charged $16 for a plain grilled cheese sandwich. As far as atmosphere, there really isn’t any. The interiors haven’t been update and it’s very warn and outdated/dark looking. With all the other restaurants in Pan Am shopping center I’d predict this one won’t last too long with its higher prices and lack of updates.

Your average lunch place. Nothing to write home about. Fills you up

Such a friendly place with home-style delicious food. Most of my family orders the gyro platter every time and has for years. I'm recently vegetarian, but I enjoy the pizzas, pasta and salad.

There aren't many local family run restaurants left. This is a favorite go to when we're in the area. Nothing fancy, but it's great to support a local family with their restaurant.

Restaurant changed owners again earlier this year and it was struggling last time I ate there.

It's a solid pizza, chewy crust, average thickness, good sauce, toppings stay put although they don't use a lot of toppings.

Be aware there is now a three percent credit card fee as of October 2023. They snuck that in on me. Don’t know if it’s listed on the menu as I’m a regular and don’t generally see a menu.

Good experience. Dad ordered an omelet from the brunch menu and I had the Reuben.

Roaches and mice everywhere in the kitchen, cooks hardly ever wear gloves, use the same rags to clean the kitchen and everything else for months, food constantly left uncovered overnight when they know how bad the pest problem is. Rude staff. Just a ran down dirty place in general. Really suprised the health department doesn’t close this place. Do not go here.

I remember going here in the 80s and it's still just as good as ever. My wife and I had steak and cheese subs, fries, and drink. It was wonderful. It isn't that paper thin stuff, this was real steak. I like the healthy thick cut fries too. We'll be back soon.

Did I just see a huge roach running across the wall and duck behind the TV 🪳. Food quality has gone down post Covid. My Gyro sucked ... Tasted out of bag 🛍️.

It's been a while since my last visit and although the decor and server is the same, the menu has been greatly reduced. My favorite food order here is the souvlaki platter which is no longer offered. Kabobs were listed with choice of pork, beef, chicken or lamb. My mom ordered lamb and we were told only chicken kabobs. She then ordered roast beef sandwich and was told they were out of roast beef. I know the shopping area is being redeveloped so my guess is that the restaurant is getting ready to shut down.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant with my family since they originally opened in 1988. The food & atmosphere is always perfect & never disappoints! I have yet to find another restaurant that can compete with their gyro sandwich or platter! It is phenomenal & a one-of-a-kind experience. A must go to if you're near the DMV!

This place used to be better. Server smelled like cigarettes, not great service, way too much "tzadiki" on the gyro (tasted mostly like mayonnaise), not going back.

Used to go to two chefs in Arlington for gyros but the quality has gone down. Went here with a friend and it’s the best gyro I’ve had in the dmv. The meat was juicy and flavorful, and they really hook it up with a good amount. Not only that, but the pizza is very good too (and I’m very picky regarding pizza in this area). The sauce, cheese, and crust were very good, which is often hard to find in this area. The music was also great!

Very nice restaurant. Nothing fancy, just good food served at reasonable prices. Service was good. Food quantity is large, so think about sharing dishes. Recommended. Update: We went there about a year ago. I ordered the "fish and chips" which were $18. What I got was literally 3 fish sticks and a plate of battered fries. Neither very good, particularly for the price. We had been going fairly frequently before this. Haven't been back since.

Great option for low stress brunch. Seating was available and though service was rather slow the food was excellent. Very tasty and reasonably priced. The kids enjoyed their french toast platters as well.

Nelson, the owner, was so kind to serve us breakfast Sunday morning, and let me tell you, this gem is not so hidden! They had plenty of loyal customer's coming in who knew what they wanted without even looking at the menu! Needless to say, they serve good food and with lots of love. This is definitely a neighborhood favorite! If you need a laid-back breakfast that is good and still has fantastic drinks, I highly recommend coming here. We tried: Pineapple Jalapeño Margarita 8/10 super spicy, and I obviously cannot handle my spice Bellini 10/10 an absolute refreshing delight Bloody Mary - 8/10 also spicy but if you're into that, by all means please get this! Red Sangria - 8/10 this was actually a really refreshing sangria and I'm not a heavy wine drinker! I was pleasantly surprised. Country chicken and gravy 8/10 - what you would expect delicious for sure though Smoked Salmon Benedict 9/10 - they used a full Salmon filet, and honestly, I've never seen this before! It added a whole different elevation and texture to a classic French toast and berries - 10/10 the addition of the granola was delightful! It added a crunch that was so good for such a heavy dish!

Full disclosure here. Our friends and we are regulars here for Sunday breakfast. So much so that the staff don't bother bringing menus. We know what we want, and often, so do they! Love their poached eggs. And love that they are willing to poach them. As of this writing, they don't charge extra for substitutions. I usually swap out the home fries for tomato slices. Do need to remind wait staff to put some brown on the English Muffins and butter can sometimes be those little plastic tubs or an almost tennis ball size serving! But the food is good, cooked to order and the staff are friendly. We've sometimes had lunch and on a couple of occasions dinner. Were not disappointed with these meals. Pan Am is in a strip mall near a Safeway, so plenty of parking nearby. It features both booth and table seating and since a recent (2022-23) refresh, a small bar area with stools. There's a big room in the back (not closed off) that can accommodate large groups or meetings. Don't be hesitant to ask for substitutions. So far they accommodate.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This is a hidden gem!!! Without a doubt the BEST GYRO I have ever had! Ever…like ever!!!! We don’t live near here but we will make the point of coming back! Super friendly, quaint old world atmosphere….and huge, flavorful portions of incredible food! If you want authentic Greek, this IS THE PLACE!!! Can’t wait to come back!!!!! (Sorry, No pix, food too enjoyable to document.) 🤷‍♀️😉

Great local small business. Been going there for two decades. The good is ALWAYS good. Don't go if you are in a rush. There are only two waiters and service is not fast. But that's ok. It's the perfect place to slow down, relax and end a busy work week with a basic, quality, filling meal.

Hadn't been to Pan Am in years but we stopped her on a whim. I'm glad we did. They've updated the interior and trimmed the menu. My wife had the chicken parmesan, which included two huge pieces of chicken breast, nicely fried and covered with a marinara that had a nice spice to it. The portion was big enough for two meals. I had the club sandwich, which was really good, as were the accompanying fries. Great service. And with beer, wine, & liquor available, it makes for something more than a regular family restaurant. Perhaps the best part is the prices. Really good food and really affordable. We'll be back.

This is a great local Greek restaurant that is one of the last long time institutions at Pan Am Shopping Center. Filled with regular customers who greet each other like foamily. They recently trimmed down their menu to a mere three pages, but kept all of their favorite breakfast and Greek dishes. Food is as good as always, coffee is always freshly made. Skip the overly pricing brunch spots and give these folks a try.

It had been a while since I had been so I took some coworkers for their first time. Lunch was very good. I suggested the gyro sandwiches and everyone had them. No complaints. Consistently good food for decades now.

My wife and I were recommended this restaurant back in 2015 for it having the best pizza. Last night (Saturday November 26), we finally made it in. The servers and the cooks were really friendly despite all the to-go pizza orders. We immediately thought, wow, the pizza must be that good. Anyway, we started out with the Caesar salad ($9) that we were able to split. Later, our pizza ($18) was served and we were right - it was that good! I see on the menu this restaurant also has gyros, burgers, chicken sandwiches, etc. which I must try - hopefully sooner rather than later.

This was the best place for 43 years or so. The menu keeps changing, the options are fewer, the prices go up. George is still there; yay!!! The dessert case is gone and has been replaced with a counter and stool chairs. (They still offer desserts, but not as many). The world has changed and they are adapting to the changes too. It’s still a place to go but it’s not the same. The salad bar was among the best, it’s long gone. Go and see for yourself! My favorite eggplant is $19 now and came with soup, not salad. Maybe if I had asked…?

This morning, I had breakfast at Pan Am based on a friend's recommendation. Like the other reviews mentioned, this is a family owned business with service and food at excellent quality and reasonable prices. No waiting in long lines similar to other breakfast spots. Try the French Toast platter - real brioche bread!

Food was good, service was good, but maybe they were shorthanded

Been going here for fabulous greek food for about a year. Their gyro is delicious. I wish I speak to their other dishes but it's hard to find good gyros. They did a recent remodel so it's much brighter inside and I'll definitely be stopping by more often for a gyro and a nice glass of wine!

The gyro and fries were excellent. Long time low-key at this location. Greek entrees and sandwiches available. Great service.

The steak and cheese hit the spot!

1st visit earlier was fine. Returned today for 2nd visit. Extremely disappointed and will be sure never to return. I ordered a $23 meal for mahi mahi which comes with spinach and sweet potatoes as sides as well as soup or salad. They did not have spinach so I agreed to broccoli. I requested fries instead of the sweet potatoe mash. I got upcharged $5.00. I was told I would be given salad to take home. I was not given either soup or house salad which comes with meal to take home. For a $23 that is supposed to include soup or salad, entree fish with sauce, and 2 sides I only received the fish and 1 side, technically. Very disappointed. Surely will never return.

The service and food was amazing. From the moment you walk in, the severs are super nice and accommodating. The owner of the restaurant came by to make sure everything was going well. The food was very delicious and the flavors/spices were top notch. Definitely a weekly visit for me from now on.

Family-owned, strip-mall gem of a restaurant. Feels like a diner, menu plates from classic Greek dishes, good old American cheeseburgers, and delicious homemade soups. The vintage style interior deco may take you back to the 70’s era but once you take a seat, leave your iPhone off – leisurely take it all in.

I just ate the best steak and cheese sub that I've ever eaten in my life. It was amazing. My wife enjoyed hers too. It's hard to beat the food at the Pan Am Restaurant. My wife and I arrived around 5:30 on a Wednesday and there was one other couple eating a pizza. The place was empty and I felt a little bad for the owner because I've seen him work hard at his business since I started going there in the 80s. It was dead and I hope it's normally slow for that time of day. It's a great place and I'd hate to lose it because of tough times causing it to close.

Such a cozy and quiet family restaurant, you can feel the welcoming energy as soon as you walk in. A smiling man greeted us before holding his arms up, gesturing to the surrounding tables. "Here, sit anywhere you'd like!" We got a spanikopita, and I was blown away. I've had pre-made ones before, but of course it's no surprise that this was far superior. A side of tzatziki sauce was included, and it's the best I've ever tasted! Definitely homemade. I've tried making tzatziki sauce before but it couldn't even compare. I will definitely come back!

The food is absolutely amazing at this lovely family restaurant. Everything is made with great quality and the taste is out of this world. ✍️ Not fine dining - not fast food. In my opinion it is small scale mom-and-pop version of iHop or Denny’s journeyman quality food as fuel restaurant. I go there for BLT and chips, sometimes skip chips and order side of fries. More often I go to iHop or Denny’s for BLT because they are open 24/7/365 and when I have taste for BLT Pan Am Family is often closed. Of all the places I order BLT Pan Am is far more generous with amount of bacon in their sandwich. So much bacon I ask for extra tomato and lettuce to balance flavor. I also like to order lemon merengue pie following BLT. But more often than not they are out of it. That was my experience pre-pandemic, before dining-in stopped. Now they do not have lemon merengue pie at all. I think their BLT is a decent sandwich reasonably priced. I heard recent gossip that founders of the restaurant recently sold it. Now under new ownership/management.

Un lugar perfectamente prescindible.

Always a great place to stop for a bite to eat. Had the chicken souvlaki for lunch today and tasted amazing. Short staffed because of the pandemic but didn't have to wait at all. Great service and very friendly family owned restaurant. Definitely would recommend you give it a try or come back again.

My friends and I had been going to the Pan Am Family restaurant for years before the pandemic. I saw a friend for the first time in a year and she suggested going. The restaurant is open for business with the same staff we knew for years. The food was just as good as before. Glad we went.

Come to life! They are so kind, & the food is just like YaYa cooked it, seriously, you think she is going to walk through the door any moment. Real Home cooked meals, no msg or additives, huge portions - (does anyone actually finish an entire meal here by themselves?) They will substitute veggies for fries at no extra charge! Delightful salads so vegetarians are not left out in the cold!! Sweet family atmosphere, so many regular customers, we're so regular that you get to know each other and each waiter and waitress by name, their life story, and they ask about your mama too, cause they actually care. Sam the owner and Mama are a class act, and we probably eat here more than we should because we like the food so well and they are so darn friendly that we like to come here to eat & chat in this comfortable atmosphere. Their desserts are unbelievable as an occasional treat to split. Or- to stop in with friends for coffee and order several desserts and eat them and chat! And- around Easter & Chistmas, they serve the most divine lamb !!! Wish they served it more often for the family, they are over the moon about it!! P. S. : I am convinced that God himself makes their onion rings.
