Not only was the food great, we also had excellent service from Sarah R and the busers/table runners. Very reasonable prices for the quality of food and service, also very good cocktails. Lovely patio setting for outside dining. There was a fairly significant line at the door at opening - if you want to avoid a wait or guarantee patio seating without a reservation, it’s probably a good idea to get there right at 5.

I had the Chennai chicken , caprese dosa and kerala chicken curry, mango lassi and chocolate sherbet. All amazingly delicious, my family originated from south India and I can honestly say it was one of the best restaurants I’ve been to for Indian food. Would love to return when I’m visiting New Mexico.

Stopped at this restaurant in Santa Fe during a vacation trip, it's offbeat since it is Indian but does not serve the usual Indian fare found in restaurants. They dwell into the most ubiquitous south India special "Dosa" and give it their own spin with fusion food. The result is a very different but very unique take and great at that! The portions are definitely AMERICAN, so if you want to share it is totally fine. The cocktails are great too and have an Indian flair and use of some Indian spice which gives it a different kick. And yes they do have a dosa with the local NM green Chile. Definitely worth a visit while in Santa Fe, NM to try something different.

We came her because I have Celiac. They told us that all of the dosas, uttapam, and curries were gluten free. Most of their sides are gluten free. They said their bhel puri comes from another facility, and while it should be gluten free, they don't put it as gluten free in the menu to be safe. Very knowledgeable staff when it came to my Celiac! It has such a great atmosphere. Great for kids and families. Would highly recommend!

hubby has been wanting to try this place forever. I’m not into this food, but went anyway. He loved his first course, some kind of onion thing. Kind of like compressed onion rings, sort of tasty to me. He loved it. I had the mushroom melody which I did not care for at all. Poor mushrooms were chard as was the bottom. He loved his dosa with some sort of lamb thing. as far as I am concerned, been there done that

Really good food. I lived in South Asia and used to get dosas regularly. These did not disappoint. We had a super forgetful waitress that we had to ask for ice three or four times. She also charged all kinds of extras without telling us. No one likes surprises on their bill - especially after being told chutneys are included with the dosa. Hence the one star for service. I recommend the food, but definitely watch your bill for extra charges you don't expect. Not cool.

We love Paper Dosa!! We have taken every friend and family member to Paper Dosa, and we have so many great memories there, like when we went there for our anniversary and it was during the monsoons and it was raining but we wanted to sit out on the patio under an umbrella and they were amazing and served us our entire meal in the rain, I mean it was so much more than we could ask for, but they were just the best about it. Honestly the reason we probably eat there too often is that Paper Dose is one of only a small handful of places that actually have great vegan options on their menu and unlike other places in town they are enthusiastic and respectful of our choice to enjoy food without the animal exploitation.

When my credit card company disputed, they maintained their fraudulent stand. Tried to reach them few times with no response. Have some common sense paper dosa team. This place is way over-hyped and does not deserve the rave reviews. I generally don't leave negative reviews, but for the price and the hype this place had, I feel obligated. The food was average at best. The spicy basil dosa was so soggy. The mango lassi was mildly flavored and hardly sweet. The service was the worst. Our server David kept returning to the table to repeat our orders and after all that still managed to mess up the bills. It's crazy that people line up outside the door before this place even opens. It is absolutely not worth that amount of effort.

This was quite good. A fairly small menu: basically dosas and uttapam with some appetizers and a couple curries. Plenty of vegetarian choices. Some fusion dishes: the uttapam with a mixed mushroom topping was quite good, and given that it's Santa Fe, there was the obligatory green chile dosa. (Which I might have gotten if it had paneer as the cheese rather than a jack/cheddar mix.) Popular spot: we showed up at 5:30 on a Fri and got seated immediately, but we were pretty much the last to get that. And when we left there was a pretty big line of people waiting. Overall, very tasty. We'll be back.

We have been coming to this restaurant since it opened (full disclosure: we are of Indian heritage). It used to be more authentic, prepared with care, and the food was way more authentic/flavorful. Everything now is bland and dull--even down to their drinks (pulli jeera). The mainstay of a good dosa meal is the sambar--their sambar used to be tasty, spicy, and flavorful. Now it is sweeter (canned tomato?) and overly mild. There is no such thing in India as mild sweet sambar. We talked to the waitstaff and even our waiter acknowledged that the food has become bland after complaints from clients (not local New Mexicans like us, surely, as we love spicy food). It seems, especially in the past few years, the chef has decided to phase out the south Indian-ness of his restaurant. Such a shame.

Here's a new review: Updated review. Paper Dosa continues to delight our family with yummy food. Our meal last night (for 7 of us - I recommend bringing a crowd, if possible, so you have the potential to reserve a table at 5:00 or 7:00) was pleasantly and competently attended to by our lovely server, and we had a quiet booth, so we could converse privately and easily. We enjoyed (again) the papadums (so light and crispy) with flavorful dipping sauces, Chennai Chicken, Lamb Keema Dosas, Lamb Curry, Winter Vegetable Curry, Chicken Curry, and the Gulab Jamun and Passion Fruit Custard for dessert. Everything was enjoyed by each of us, so Thank you Paper Dosa for a nourishing meal. I have read some of the other reviews, and I'd like to say that a dear friend of ours, born and raised in India, and now living in the USA, came to Paper Dosa a few years ago (pre-Covid) and declared it to be the BEST Restaurant Indian Food she'd ever tasted in the USA.

Wondering what happened, based on our takeout order yesterday...the Rasam "fire soup" barely had any flavor or spice to it at all - formerly, it used to live up to its name. We ordered coconut rice but received plain rice. One main dish was completely missing from the order although it showed up on the bill. The previously delicious mango lassi was more like mango pudding, much too thick and goopy. A sad decline.

Fantastic place! Really enjoyed our masala classic dosa, uttapam, puli-jeera soda and passion fruit custard dessert. Sambar and chutneys were also delicious. Dosa was crispy and somehow spongy at the same time. For fellow Indians, the flavors might be a little mellow but I enjoyed it since it reminded me of homemade food.

It's always a good sign when a restaurant is packed with a line almost as soon as they open. We ordered takeout, and the wait was pretty long (about an hour), but it was so incredibly worth it. The paper dosa was one of the best dosas I've ever had, and the butternut squash soup was truly something special.

The food was so delicious I forgot to take proper pictures. Lol. Pakora was good, but sliders were amazing. Chicken curry with coconut rice was very nice, not too spicy but a nice kick. The passion fruit custard was really interesting and tasty. I'm a huge fan of Indian/Middle Eastern cuisine and this is different than any "standard" Indian food here in the States. The flavors and different options made for a very unique, new experience. So if you've never tried south Indian cuisine, definitely give it a try! And if you have, I'm positive it won't disappoint. The atmosphere is slightly upscale but the prices aren't too high. Was about $75 for two people / three courses + a local brew. Staff was friendly. Highly recommend! - oh, and the dosas looked amazing and we regretted not trying them lol!! Edit: we went back a couple days later and I took better pics and tried the paper dosa! lol! 10/10

Really great staff..amazing ambience for a small restaurant.. ample parking, the dosas are very good. Not excellent but very good. The mocktail we ordered was very flat and the felt stale. Might stick to only food next time.

Always good service. The lamb keema dosa and the Chennai chicken are the best things to get! It’s very crowded so if you’re dining in it’s best to get there at 4:45, or just order takeout.

This resturant is to busy or understaffed to offer good service. We ordered takeout food since the wait is always ridiclously long. I did not recieve all of my main dish leaving me with just a dosa and a dipping sauce. Upon calling the resturant back they offered to remove the charge for my meal which they did not ever do. Paper Dosa is off of our dining list. they are terribly overpriced for the food and enviroment offered.
