Fantastic food. Have to try their sauces!

A classic "hole in the wall" style taqueria, with probably my favorite tacos/burritos I've had in the state. Great flavors and quality and quantity of meat in their food, and a delicious selection of hot sauces and garnish. Highly recommend you try them if you're a fan of street tacos or excellent hand edible burritos.

Food came out quick and was very delicious. Portions were great to share. Absolutely recommend.

Wasn't horrible but don't think it was worth the price paid people where friendly pretty small inside only 1 tables to sit at and no bathroom

Very tasty food, but keep an eye out for all these up charges. If your meal is 50 bucks, they say cash is a discount. It’s not. Your meal is 50. They up charge for a credit card charge. It’s misleading. Plus prices never match the menu pricing…. That said, they’re good people but prices go up monthly it seems

Would give 10 stars if possible! Food was awesome! Torta and Sopes are a must try!! Staff was super friendly and service was fast.

These are the best Mexican street tacos around. I tried the steak, chicken, and speciality slow cooked beef tacos and they were so delicious. The rice and beans side is a great portion and tastes so good. The flavor is amazing and so is the service. I will definitely be coming back for more.

Today 2024, June 1, I went to eat with my 3 friends, and the young lady who works there is a racist and uneducated person with her own people, she doesn't know how to take care of other people, she should go to school That day we asked her what kind of drinks you have and she grotesquely answered the ones you see in front of you, at that same moment we left that place, to work in a restaurant you need education and you have to be friendly to customers and welcome them. and tell how I can help you

Great food, and a great place to stop off 95 to skip the fast food scene. Bathroom is in the back of the kitchen, which isn't great, but just ask and they'll let you use it.

Papis taqueria I had one of their carnitas street tacos and an order of carne asada fries. If you are looking for a tasty, rich in flavor, fresh food, and very well seasoned meat that is also super juicy. Look no further. The meat was super tender and juicy, no hint of being over cooked. The cook/chef knows what they are doing. The guacamole was fresh, the pico de galo was fresh, and the fries were cooked very nicely. The fries having a nice crispiness on the outside and slightly soft on the inside gave them an almost beer battered texture. It was really good. The little salsa cart/table they have gives you some options to spice up your food the way you like it. I also took home some horchata, tres leches cake, and flan. All tasty! The decor is nice, friendly, and has the Mexican vibe I’m used to. I look forward to visiting during dia de los muertos. I grew up in Arizona, and you always knew the mom and pop shops were the best. When the family worked together, the restaurant was always awesome. The food to money amount is spot on. You get what you pay for and the prices here are great for the quality and quantity of food you get! They do have a small seating area, 2 tables, 3 bar stools, and 2 outside seating. I would love to see some sort of food challenge or maybe a street taco eating challenge. This is an establishment I will love to see grow and expand. This is no Taco Bell, Moes, or Chipotle chain. This restaurant cares about their food qualities and I am very willing to drive the 25mins to come visit them whenever I get hungry for good Mexican food

Love this place, my number one Mexican stop on the coast of Ct. This place is small but food is amazing, beats the wanna be slums food trucks in New Haven.

Had lunch there the past couple of days and let me say the food is amazing. I had the steak fiesta burrito 2 days in a row and it was delicious. They also have a rice pudding that is so good too. Definitely would recommend stopping if you’re in the area. Food came over super fast too!!

Tried this place for the first time tonight. The parking lot was packed! The inside is very small with only a couple tables. I tried the fajita burrito, it really didn't taste like much. As another reviewer mentioned, the steak isn't really steak. $12.50 with no sides, and the buritto wasnt very large. I suggest they make it $15 and include some chips and salsa. However, chips add salsa are 6 bucks and chips and guac are 9. At that price, I'd rather just eat at a sit down Mexican restaurant.

Expensive, for bland food. The "steak" turned ot to be ground beef in my meal. I can't imagine this place making it long term at these prices and quality of the food. Sorry!

My 11 year old describes the food here as "bussin'" which I understand means REALLY GOOD. And it is. I haven't had a single menu item that I didn't like. I especially love the short rib tacos and carne asada tacos. The plaintains are heavenly. In a perfect world I would have a swimming pool full of the queso. There are only a couple tables inside, so we mostly do takeout. Papi's has been a great addition to Old Lyme!

Great tamales, reasonable prices. I was on a quest for authentic tamales in Connecticut. These are a traditional Mexican food at Christmas and New Years. I found some at a new place (to me) in Old Lyme. We will definitely be going back soon, not just for more tamales. They only had four pork left to sell on this day. The tamales are excellent. Authentic. And not on the menu. I’ll be back for the tortas, a big sandwich on a Mexican roll. Also on the menu are tacos, tostados, and burritos. There is nothing on the menu priced ove $15. Gracias Papi’s. Haste luego!

Really good tacos. Yet to try a burrito. A little on the pricey side (but what isn't nowadays), but if I'm in the area, I'll definitely stop by.

This place was sooooo good. Was not planned to come here but we saw it and said eh why not? Best choice!! You won’t regret coming here, everything taste homemade as well , it was perfect & service was great! The Carne Asada fries are HUGE ❤️

Right off the main drag in old lyme, Kate and Papis is known for tostadas, flautas, and sopes, This mex-style restaurant is about the size of an average dining room, so if you eat inside you’ll feel like a guest of the family that runs the place. Which makes sense, because this is homestyle cooking at its absolute finest: Our favorite item is the incredible sopes, which involves a special masa heaped with marinated meats, salsa, and queso fresco. Try the Carne Asada Fries that are Loaded fries with steak, melted cheese, pico de gallo, creme and guacamole, though the tacos dorados with picadillo and are commendable runners-up.

We ordered takeout - three different kinds of tacos, two different tostadas and the plantains. Everyone loved their meal. Will definitely be adding this place as a regular spot.

Ordered some tacos and sopes to go. Food was good. Fresh and fast, and they gave a tamale to sample while I waited. Delicious. Will be back for sure!

This place is amazing! The best Mexican food in the area. Since moving to East Lyme, I haven’t had great tasting Mexican food and I tried all the local places. I’m so glad Papi’s open, they are the best.

Ok everyone, not going to lie, super picky about Mexican food. This is the real deal. Support a family owned business! Cute, clean, amazing food, authentic and lots of menu choices plus kids menu and 10$ Taco Tuesday deals. We loved the burritos and carne asada fries. Coming back here for sure!

We loved the fajita burritos with chicken! They were a generous size and had nice grilled chicken inside with peppers, onions, rice, refried beans, etc and were nicely grilled on the outside. We enjoyed eating at one of their tables and trying the salsas and peppers at the salsa bar.

The street tacos hit the spot and tasted great.

I wasn't impressed by this place. I ordered the Mahi Mahi taco, the AL pastor taco, the loaded fries, and the nachos. There really wasn't any authentic Mexican flavor going on. No spice or tang. The nacho chips aren't home made, they're out of a bag. They didn't come with any toppings at all, just meat and cheese. Same for the fries. No vegetables or cilantro. Just an all around very Anglo "Mexican " experience. Very pricey, too, for just chips and potatoes. Idk if I'll go back.

Just tried the Torta sandwich (carnitas) and the crispy artichoke hearts with avocado ranch sauce. Both so tasty! Staff is nice & helpful. So excited to have another food place in Old Lyme.

Some of the best new food in Old Lyme in a long time! Fresh ingredients seasoned perfectly. We’ve gotten take out here a half dozen times and everything comes out delicious! Must try!!

Tried an assortment of tacos today. Most excellent! Fresh, tasty, put together with care. Their guacamole is the best I've had! Super friendly folks with efficient service. Great selection of sauces and authentic desserts too!
