Love the food, love the service, love the entertainment.

Amazing food!! We were in the area for a week and this was our favorite meal. Our party of 7 loved the beer garden. The 2 kiddos (2 & 6) loved the rocks and they had a high chair for the little one. The sampler was perfect for 2 women and the children to split. A member of our family tried the bbq spaghetti and has been talking about it for days! The meat was all so tender. This was the bbq of our dreams!!

Five stars all around. Fun atmosphere, friendly service, and the food to match. We had the sampler platter and the brisket was out of this world! Shout ~out to the Mac and cheese as well. They were out of pulled pork, but we will be back for it for sure. Nice assortment of beer for those who partake and live music on the patio on the weekends. Don’t drive by this little gem, stop and get some grub!

This place is amazing! It has tons of character - it opened in 1903 as a grocery store. The food is ridiculous good (everything is great but the smoked mac n cheese really stands out!). Prices are really great and they frequently have live bands. The new owners are super nice too. Pretty much everything I could ask for!!

Hey there! So, my family of six went to this restaurant and we ordered a bunch of different stuff from the menu. I grew up not too far from Memphis, and bbq spaghetti is a local dish there. So, finding a restaurant in southwest Missouri that offered it was a great find! And let me tell you, they did not disappoint. My wife ordered the salad with their in-house honey mustard, and the flavor was amazing! The burgers were a great size, and they had a bunch of different sauces and hot sauces to choose from. We'll definitely be going back, especially for the live music on the weekends.

Been in SGF 3 years and first time at Pappy's. New-ish owners. Place is high on "what a joint should be" list. Torn seats at bar, worn laminate, super friendly staff, good food .. PBR tallboys. Life was great while I was there. Even the company. Has outdoor seating but outdoors are everywhere. Inside very jointy-cool.

Hidden gem...the oldest restaurant in Springfield with great food and unique atmosphere. Welcome to 1930 in the old neighborhood. Update: Well, gone are the comfortable old miss-matched kitchen chairs that were so inviting. Now they have new all black metal ones that hurt your hand to move them...the kind you'd see anywhere. Prices are up, service is indifferent but adequate, no energy wasted on charm or a smile. Gone is the comfortable, glad-you-came-in, welcoming atmosphere I used to find here that made me gladly drive across town to enjoy it. This used to be a special place; when I was in Pappy's, I stepped back in time to 1931 for a while and enjoyed a delightful lunch. Not so much now.

If you love burnt ends don't order them here!!! Someone needs to show them what burnt ends really are. What I was served looked like it was boiled meat dunked in a horrible BBQ sauce and for about 3 ounces of meat I was charged more than $12. Yuck never again

This place is a hidden gem! Food, service, price, everything was great. I had the ribs and burnt ends and OMG!!! So delicious. I’m very picky and hard to impress, but the ribs literally fell off the bone. Sauce was served on the side, which I was glad, because I’m not a sauce girl. I like to taste the meat. However, the owner suggested I try the golden sauce (I think that was the name of it). I put some on my plate and dipped the rib meat in it and it was really good. The burnt ends were very tender with a little kick. Not only were the owners very personable, so were the other customers with whom I ended up enjoying conversations with. They have live bands and karaoke nights, but I didn’t have time to stay for that. Sadly, I live three hours away. But I can’t wait to come back!

Stopped in Springfield on the way home from moving our daughter back home from college. She wanted killer BBQ. We found killer BBQ. Wifey had the ribs, daughter had the pulled pork, I had the sliced brisket. The pitmaster was nice and also brought us a sample of burnt ends. This place was great! We also tried out a number of sides. The favs were the potato salad, slaw, and bakers beans. The Mac n Cheese was also great with bits of ham and I think peppers. Definitely and old school tavern feel. Oh and make sure to try the hot and sweet bbq sauce!

We were searching Google for restaurants today for lunch before we went out to replace our food for our refrigerator & cabinet and saw this place had a good rating. So, we stopped in to try the food, and it was amazing. The service was great as well. We will definitely eat here again.

This is a bar restaurant with its main focus on the bar end. They had a live band and a 10 dollar cover charge to get in. The pulled pork sandwich was good but had a lot of fat. The fried pickles were delicious dipped in ranch dressing. The music was so loud that we couldn't hold a conversation during dinner. Prices were average. A steel bottle of bud was 3 dollars. All and all I'd go back if I was in the mood for a band. It's worth another shot.

Nice neighborhood bar & restaurant were everybody knows your name! Large patio area outback with plenty of room to kickback and enjoy the live music! Inside is a sitdown bar with just enough room for a few tables to seat up to 4 along the wall opposite the bar. Great owners who took care of my family like we were part of their family. Can't wait to go back!

It is very unique. If you don't pay attention you will miss it. I had the pulled pork sandwich and they do not skimp on the meat.

Ordered the slab of ribs with a side of baked beans and okra. The meat was tenderized well but lacked seasoning and taste. Even the sauce tasted like… nothing. The beans were the same. Everything was just tasteless but otherwise cooked well. Staff and restaurant are awesome though and it’s a nice location.

Hubby and I shared a pulled pork sandwich, had two sides and two drinks for about $20. It was all delicious! New owners very nice!

Not too long ago I read an article online about “Hidden Gems in Springfield Mo.”. Considering we live there I knew several of the places names however this was one I had not heard of before. Today my wife and I were driving along and stumbled upon Pappys Place, so we decided to stop and see what it was all about since the name stuck with me as one I had read about. Let me say first and foremost. When you pull up and park you immediately know that this is a place that people have probably been coming to for forty years no matter what other food choices may be available in town. It’s small, quaint and inviting. Absolutely loaded with rich history and that is something you can feel right when you walk inside! We were very graciously greeted by our waitress and seated on the patio as requested. She was amazing throughout our late lunch. She was at our table just the right amount. There is a science to that in my opinion, being there too much or not enough can be frustrating. We looked over the menu at our options and as we did she gave a few recommendations for us to consider as we looked. The menu is not huge and I can appreciate that, big menus can also get tiresome. Once we placed our order the wait wasn’t long at all. When we got the food…… wow!!! Absolutely amazing food. You won’t get any frills at Pappys, what you will get is a heaping plate of food that screams “this is Americana!!”…… A little off the beaten path. As it should be, sometimes a trip down memory lane in a place that obviously been a host to many many good times! We love this place and we will absolutely be returning! I’m fact I would t mind becoming a regular. The BBQ is down home style made by someone in the kitchen who has a passion for food. I really can’t rave about Pappys enough. Since my moving to the area this was by far one of my top three places I would eat again. Also they have live music on Friday nights starting in March!!! We will for sure be attending those events. My hats off to Pappys Place and the stellar food, service and atmosphere surrounding this hidden gem!!!

Not the most attentive servers (don’t expect them to notice your empty drink), but take it for what it is, it’s an old place, tons of history here, great food (hands-down some of the most authentic BBQ in town), and if you want something, all you have to do is raise your hand and ask for it. This place is a part of Springfield history! New owners, but they seem to have the desire to preserve the historic charm of the place. Seems to be a hidden gem that the older generations all know about, but newer Springfieldians have yet to discover.

They where rude, and making valed threats against my son. He was not causing any problems. They let this autistic manchild drink until he passed out. Then threaten me uf i can not get him out.

This little hole in the wall restaurant surprised the heck outta me. I had heard it was good. While in Springfield for the day we decided to rest here for a late lunch. The food was surprisingly good and prices average. I would recommend this for a BBQ place if you're looking for one.

Absolutely Love Everything about this place!! I've been coming here for many years now!! You'll feel right at home in their cozy atmosphere while enjoying some of the most delicious food in town. I've had just about everything on their menu & it's all just mouthwatering delish ~ I'm partial to their big ol' homemade cheezburgers & onion rings but the bbq the ribs & the smoked pork chops are pretty outstanding themselves...but so is everything else!! Their drinks are amazing, the beer is ice cold & served in a frosty mug 🍺....Service is always great & the people, well they are just good people who always have a smile for everyone!! You can't find little cozy hole in the wall places like this gem anymore so I recommend you check it out ~ you won't be disappointed!!

Backyard bash sort of feel. Very midwest. Very hole in the wall! Excellent service. Ps the open mic is outside so don't be upset when there's no A/C. Its worth it :)

Understand it's hot but was blazing hot inside. Holiday weekend but yet was outta beef, ribs, wings etc. Fountain drinks was out of carbonation itself. The pulled pork nachos was decent but gf order a pork tenderloin and it wasn't even done. Then seen the cook come out, pour some alcohol into a cup. Add ice and little bit of soda then went back to continue cooking! Won't go back. The waitress was very rude when I ask about them possibly selling or going out of business! Can get better service elsewhere!

Absolutely love this lil mom and pop joint.. I've put many $1 on the ceiling. Brings back some of my best memories with my dad. The people are so sweet and welcoming when you walk through the door.. they have the best pulled pork sandwiches I've had in probably 20 years.. hands down the best!!

We were looking for a local place and hit the jackpot with Pappy's. The pulled pork sandwich, homemade Mac and Cheese, and baked beans were excellent. My friend's raved about the ribs. We ate outside which looks like it would be a ton of fun for an evening musical venue. Server was kind and treated our table well. Don't let the outside fool you, this is a gem of a bar!

The meat was old and dried out seem to be at least a couple days old..the beans tasted like you took pork and beans from Walmart and doctored them poorly. on top of the bad food everything was high as a cats back $ . ...

You gotta go here at least once in your life if you live in the area. Stepping into this dive is like stepping back into time.. its simple and good.Try the hotlinks! Some of the best I've had, and they make them in-house. Ribs have a good smoke flavor. Slaw and potato salad (made in-house) is a must. We also had the chili and brisket. Both were good. Watch out for the jalapeños🙂

Been wanting to try this place a long time but I usually only have Sunday or Monday & they aren't open then. This was FANTASTIC BBQ!!! I'm not a huge BBQ fan but this place could change that for me. Good BBQ requires no sauce & this was mouth watering good BBQ. I had the sampler platter & the only thing that wasn't perfect were the beans(shoulda ordered the Mac&Cheese instead). A piece of Texas toast was all that was missing. Very quaint & friendly place.

Just stopped here for dinner on our way through Missouri. The service was amazing and the pulled pork was some of the best I've ever had! Portion sizes are also HUGE. You definitely get more than your moneys worth. Very homey atmosphere also. Highly recommend!

Beer was flat. And when I tried to have my last drink, owner was laughing on the side. Pulled pork sandwich and onion rings were good. 1 draft bud, pulled pork sandwich and onion rings. Thought it was a little steep cause the total was 15.69. IDK and it was a lunch portion.

It's a local bar that's been there for a while. If you go I suggest getting the pulled pork sandwich. It's really good. They messed up cooking my burger a bit, burned around the edges and a little undercooked and a drunk guy was yelling to his friends about his DWIs but other than that everything was fine and they're friendly.

I had the best fried fish I've had in a long time. Homemade mashed potatoes and gravy with green beans. And they have broasted chicken! I'd never had broasted chicken before and now. So now I'm a fan. Thanks for the great food.

Very nice neighborhood barbecue shop it's a staple of the community delicious food and libations. I highly recommend it to everybody.

I ordered ahead and went to pick it up on a Sat around 5pm. I gave them 30 min to prepare. It wasn't ready, very poor communication between workers, no potato salad, the coleslaw had no flavor, the pulled pork was old and greenish and I say him warm it up in the microwave. We had to ask for BBQ sauce and bread (2 slices) and we also ordered a pint of beef. The total for a pint of 2 meats, beans and slaw was $48 and it was the worst food I've ever gotten. I think they specialize in their liquor because obviously they aren't keeping up their reputation on their food. Go somewhere else for GOOD BBQ

Their signature sauces are up to par, and the meat was smoked to perfection. Washed down with a mug of beer, and we'll definitely be back.

The meat is perfectly smoked and textured. Sauces are delicious, perfect example of a Carolina gold. Sides are great. Even the chicken strips and fries the kid got were better than your usual. Owners were awesome and service was amazing! First time trying and will now be our go to BBQ place in Springfield.

Food was good service good, the only reason I took off a star is because the slaw was made with salt by mistake instead of sugar. They threw it out.

Pappy's Place is the perfect hole in the wall establishment! Their BBQ is falling off the bone tender, their sauce is sweet and zingy, and the atmosphere is as genuine as it gets! Be sure to come on a live music night out on the patio!

This place has some really, really, really good BBQ.😋 It was perfect for us after fighting the crowds, shopping. It's off the main streets, in a somewhat low key, small, but cozy location. We actually made it just in time for some outdoor dining and a very good classic live band. The staff were superb and did such a great job! Definitely recommend this place! 😊

Some of the best in town and really love the bbq sauce they offer. Sometimes really busy so make sure to check your order before you leave if getting to go. Sometimes they forget the fries with meals and always check your ticket because I was overcharged for one hot link on a bun the last time I went in ($4.95 one on a bun and was charged $7.25). Other then those few hiccups the food itself is amazing especially the BBQ items.

My family and I finally tried Pappy's today. The food and our experience was fantastic. We sat outside on the newly renovated patio and enjoyed the sunshine. We had the open-face chili cheese burger, BBQ pork sandwich and a regular cheese burger. Everything was delicious, we especially love their house made sauces and sides! We can't wait to back and listen to some live music on the deck.

Hot link sandwich was pretty good. No heat, and the bun was bad but the meat itself was delicious. Pulled pork sandwich was loaded higher than I’ve ever seen one loaded in my life. Waitress was nice and took our orders quickly and food also came quick.

The draft beers were fresh, (thanks for the recommendations) the food was great and we especially enjoyed meet both of you (the owners) and your willingness to engage in conversation with us! We will be back some day! We LOVED Pappy's Place!

I patronize local restaurants...and love what I call greasy spoons.... College Street Cafe', Casper's... Gailey's... etc.. Pappy's just feels like Cheers when you walk in. Everybody knows your name... Since purchasing Pappy's, Wayne and Susan have made some great improvements.. Just a homey place, with great food. Wayne and Susan have made improvements and it's getting even better... and James the cook is sure to provide you a great meal. I work close to Pappy's and eat there often. My kind of place.
