We went two days in a row it was absolutely delicious! Best grits I’ve ever had and the eggs had a deep orange yolk and were so tasty and high quality. The staff were all lovely!

Fun, friendly staff! They took really good care of our large party of 30 and accommodated dietary restrictions. The food was fresh and hot! Loved the buffalo chicken wrap and the white chocolate macadamia cookies were PERFECT!!

This is such an amazing place to have breakfast or a late lunch! It’s a great place for families.The owner and staff are absolutely amazing! Some of the nicest service I’ve ever had. The coffee and pastries are a must try! ESPECIALLY THE REESES COOKIE❤️❤️❤️ Reasonable prices and amazing atmosphere!

We had the best time at Periwinkle Kitchen! Food is amazing and the hospitality even better! We visited here a few times during our stay on John's Island. Every single dish is so yummy! My husband especially loved the fried chicken. There is so much flavor in all of their dishes. The owner, Kim, is very welcoming and it was fun getting to know her and the rest of the staff. Mike, the Assistant GM, was great too. Everyone at the cafe made our visit amazing. We took our time and ate at the bar counter and it was very fun to just relax and have good southern food. Highly recommend and we will be back next time we visit the area! Thank you!

1/10…..ordered breakfast for 2 kids and 2 adults. Paid 49.75 for 4 people, no big deal especially on vacation. 2 kids got the kids waffle plate and I got the chicken and waffles. 10 and some change for kids, 16.95 for chicken and waffles. Kids were a half waffle, mine was the exact same with half a chicken breast and a cup of honeydew melon each. Wife got the wake up platter. Taste was not the issue, but we all left hungry and had to go back to the condo and eat our leftovers from the night before, before going to the beach…. For FIFTY dollars. Will definitely not return. I don’t posts reviews ever, even if I didn’t have a great experience I’ll usually give it another shot…. But I left pissed, hungry, and feel like we got took.

First time visiting today. Breakfast was delicious and served quickly. The employees are so kind and made helpful recommendations. Try the muffins, all are delicious, especially the French toast Biscoff muffin. The cafe itself is super clean and cute. Will definitely be back!

Had the pancake bteakfast!! Pancakes were great but that was it!! Sausage was like a hockey puck. They did replace it!! Scrambled eggs were ok but not impressed. Never to return there again.

You have to stop here if you’re around John’s island or Kiawah, it’s the best breakfast or brunch you can get! Staff are so sweet, and the fried chicken and pimento biscuit is amazing! The muffins and coffee are fantastic too!

Stopped by after playing 18 at Stono Ferry on the way to the beach - girlfriend was excited to show me where she picked for us to have brunch. Owner (didn’t catch his name) is spectacular, overly kind and cares about what happens here. Avocado toast was the best I’ve ever had, Pimento chicken biscuit was too good and we got muffins and cookies to go. A MUST STOP if you’re within a, I don’t know, 5 hour drive range? Incredible food and people.

Oh do we wish we could've found this spot sooner than on our last day. The owners welcomed us and our little baby William with open arms, quite literally. So inviting and immediately connected with us. Their smile and approach to everyone walking through that door was so infectous. The pancakes were cooked perfectly and the coffee hit the spot. I only wish the atmosphere here was found all over.

Stopped in just to see what had occupied this building yet again, and for once we were truly impressed! We enjoyed avocado toast and an açaí bowl - but only meant to get a cup of coffee. The menu was so intriguing, we had to try a few light items. I am so glad we did! Not only was the food delicious, but the staff there was friendly, engaging, and fun to chat with! They are proud of their establishment, and they didn’t mind taking time to talk with us about all that they offer (boat baskets - food to order ahead and take out on a boat trip), dinners with varying menu items, and they suggested a few items when we shared likes/dislikes. You order at the register, and there is a station for cleanup, but they didn’t allow us to clean up - offering to do for us! They have a small selection of to-go items. Also, a tv playing Wimbledon! (Bonus!) super clean and inviting! I’m so excited to discover this gem!

It was our first time done it at this place. We loved the food and the restaurant people were so nice . Bathrooms were so clean and good. Definitely recommend this place !!!!

My husband and I had a lovely, casual early dinner here this week. The Mediterranean platter was homemade and cooked to order with grilled locally sourced shrimp at a reasonable price. A bottle of wine was under $20. the owners and the chef greeted us as if we were family! Try the breakfast and lunch specials too. They have premade dinners to go in their freezer. You won’t be disappointed. It’s easy to drive by, but worth stopping in.

I went here for the first time yesterday for lunch. It’s a nice spot, they’ve taken over two previous food/bev spots and made it into a larger location which is nice. I got the chicken club sandwich. It had really good flavor! My only suggestion or critique would be to slice the chicken and spread it over the bread so the contents are distributed evenly. The sandwich was a bit clunky and hard to eat the way it was executed but it definitely had good flavor. Next time I will try another side instead of fries and try something different. They had good coffee as well. I got a cold brew with one of their homemade syrups and it was good as well. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful! They made menu suggestions and were just very nice! I will definitely be back.

Stopped here on a whim and super glad we did! One of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve had in my life. The biscuit was perfect — light yet retaining enough structure to hold up to the sausage and egg. The sausage is local from a nearby farm. Lattes were fantastic as well. Can’t wait to try more of the menu next time.

We stopped here for lunch after visiting the Charleston Tea Garden and Angel Oak. Wanted something local and delicious and we found it! Very calm on a weekend. Would highly recommend.

Delightful! Probably, the best biscuit I have had in The Lowcountry. Warm, light, buttery, almost as good as my mom’s. Coffee was delicious, staff was friendly and engaging. We will be back.

We’ve eaten here twice now and the food has been GREAT each time! Our little man who is 6 loves the pancakes and fruit. My wife and I end up helping him clean his plate because we love the pancakes also. The sourdough sandwich and smoothies are perfect. Great atmosphere and the owner is so friendly! Highly recommend this for a breakfast spot while staying on the Kiawah. We come 5-6 times a year and this will always be a stop for us in the future.

The sweetest little cafe! We visited twice while in the area. Weekdays it was not busy at all, and on Saturday although it was busy, they were pretty quick and the staff were so friendly and helpful both visits. I have a very limited diet due to allergies and they were extremely accommodating. Dog and kid friendly (dogs outside, of course).

Wonderful experience! Amazing pancakes and grits, we had to come two days in a row because my husband said they are the best grits he has ever had! Also amazing prices and definitely the best food we ate in the island.

The employees here are absolutely amazing! I caught a flat tire and had to wait 3 hrs to get it changed!! I went inside to get some delicious breakfast while I waited. The pimento cheese fried chicken biscuit is the best I've literally ever had!! And the amazing barista Jonathan offered to help change my tire, then of the cooks Bron offered to come do it in his place. This is the definition of CUSTOMER SERVICE! Please come visit you won't be disappointed!!!

By far the best food around the island!! After 2 very disappointing experiences at other local restaurants this adorable cafe was a breath of fresh air! The staff is so kind and they make you feel so welcome and cared for. The breakfast is delicious and their smoothies are to die for! We love that they source local ingredients too!!

We had a great visit to Periwinkle cafe! My sister has an onion allergy and they were very careful with that. The staff added extra nice touches like a little bit of a cookie while we were waiting for our food, and offered us cups of ice when they saw we were drinking out of the cans from the fridge. The owner was friendly and we had a nice conversation. I visit kiawah island often so I will be back the next time I come to visit!

Stopped by on the way out from a golf trip. Wonderful service and the owners even introduced themselves and conversed with us during our meal. Highly recommend the chicken pimento sandwhich!

Our new favorite place! Can’t say enough great things about this cute cafe. The food is excellent. The green smoothie is the best I’ve ever had in my life. I had the ricotta toast and my husband had the chicken pimiento biscuit. Amazing!

To say that we loved our experience at Periwinkle would be an absolute understatement. The owners (Kim and John) were amazing, more than accomodating, and made for a very fun and inviting breakfast. We were made to feel like we were home, which was special (you dont get that everywhere)! There was playful banter (for ex, when John teased my husband and FIL about not eating bacon/meat and asked where they were from lol). Btw, everyone who ate the bacon raved about it and said it was superior. The grits were also outstanding (vouched by a native Georgia family; even our 13yo said so). I loved their homemade juices too, so good. Everyone we met with at Periwinkle was attentive, professional and personable. Kim and John sat down with us, and shared recommendations for places to see and things to do during our stay. They even gave a business card and said we can call or text with any questions during our stay (which we did). It's obvious the people at Periwinkle care and have a genuine desire to build rapport with their customer base. Next time we're in the area, we will make it a point to visit. If you're looking for a quality breakfast spot that serves more than just good food and drink, make sure to stop in!

My husband and I popped in after church today looking forward to something tasty. The owners have done a nice job with the limited space that they have. The place is clean and inviting. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful. The owners are very pleasant and attentive. Unfortunately, the menu seems to be disconnected. My husband and I decided that neither of us was super hungry so we chose to split a Nashville hot chicken sandwich. So glad we did. The chicken had been unevenly pounded resulting in over cooked, dry meat. The fries were good but too heavily salted. I had specifically asked if they had sweet tea and was told that they did. However, they do not. They can sweeten it with simple sugar which is okay, but not quite the same. This is the South. Would it really be that hard or that much more of an expense to offer pre- sweetened (with sugar) tea? This location has a somewhat captive audience, so hopefully they will elicit suggestions from customers for possible future offerings. We will definitely come again to give it another try.

I've passed this place on the way to Kiawah Island SC many times. But this trip, I wanted to try a local joint, so we stopped here. Walking in, the place is very clean and modern. Right up my alley. 😀 The menu is limited, but I don't have a problem with that. Do a little and do it well, as opposed to doing a lot and it's mediocre. Asked the lady at the register what she would recommend, and she said the burgers are really good. SHE WAS RIGHT!!!! There is a garlic aioli on it with sautéed onions, and IT ALL WORKED. There was such a rich flavor on the toasted bun. I like my burgers cooked medium, but I wasn't asked, and they came out well done. And they were still DELICIOUS!!!! They appear to also support other local businesses judging by what's in their coolers, so that's another win in my book. If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and check these guys out.

Really neat place from coffee to a full meal

I’ve been to Periwinkle a handful of times, a couple of the experiences being pleasant with the food being decent but on the pricier end for what you get. The other couple of times were less than a pleasant experience. I’ve gotten their take and bake lasagna from their fridge section two separate times now. The first time the lasagna was flavorful but had rosemary stems throughout the entire thing I had to pick through. I brought it to the owners attention privately and they took care of it, offering me a replacement meal free of charge which was nice. The second time I came back and wanted to try the lasagna again, thinking things would be better this time around. I cooked it according to the instructions and the pictures listed below is what I got. Dry, hard noodles that were completely inedible. I don’t think they even cooked the noodles before assembling the lasagna, otherwise I don’t see how else something like this could even happen. I cooked it according to the directions they provided me. And mind you, these meals are not cheap. It was close to $30 for this one little pan of lasagna. I reached out to the owner privately once again, not wanting to bash the company on google. This time I never received a response, so I’m assuming they chose to ignore me this time around. My $30 dinner after working a long hard day was inedible, and I had to go searching for something else. I’m by no means trying to be a “Karen”. I tried once again to reach out to them privately before making this review. However, after receiving no response and left high and dry, here we are. I wouldn’t want others to experience the same thing I did. If you can’t sell products that are consistent in quality, I think you should really re-examine what you are doing. Especially at that price point. So to everyone out there, just be wary of their take and bake section, because it’s very clear at this point the quality of the products they are selling are not consistent at all. I wouldn’t want anyone else to end up disappointed like I’ve been.

I read so much about this place. That the food was so great. I knew they changed the menu. That’s fine. I live on Johns Island so it’s not that far out of the way. I told my friend we should try a new place bc the food looked interesting and got all these great reviews. Both of us went for lunch and I’m sorry to say we were not impressed. We did not see anything on the menu that sang out to us. So that was a bad sign. My friend settled for the Chicken Caesar Wrap. I settled for the Turkey with stuffing, cranberry on Ciabatta. Not cheap! When we got served, the server asked us if we wanted some forks . When we said “ yes”. We never saw her again. And the place was not busy. My friends wrap looked like I could hv made it. Mine? Was awful. I managed to eat half. It was dry. So salty! The bread was dry and not even toasted. I couldn’t believe it. And there was hardly any cranberry sauce on it. They loaded a lot of stuffing, but hardly any turkey. For $15.95? I don’t think so. My friend told me her wrap was very mediocre. When we left she said we don’t hv to come back here. I just couldn’t believe what we were served based on these rave reviews. I mean when you go to Five Loaves?? You get a Turkey sandwich! I have been going there for years. I thought this place was going to be more like them. I’m afraid it’s not.

We ate here on the way out from a long weekend with friends. The sunrise burger was amazing and my husband had the sausage egg and cheese biscuits. Very tasty. The owner greeted us and made us feel very welcome. Bright decor and feels very welcoming.

Came down to SC for a golf trip and found this gem! Service was fantastic and so friendly. Breakfast bacon sandwich was very filling and delicious. So good we stopped back for lunch. The beer and wine selection was solid. Had an Octoberfest with a tuna poke bowl. The bowl was perfect with just a little spicy kick. Owners were totally engaged in making our experience and food perfect. Definitely a must stop on a Kiawah Island trip.

They make the best mocha, and their overnight raspberry oats are incredible. The staff were so kind and friendly. ❤️ Loved this place and hope to return soon!

We go over to Periwinkle on our golf cart for treats. The banana pudding and Black Forest cherry ice cream sandwiches are amazing! The service was also very good. We will definitely be back.

The blt was excellent with a small side of potato salad. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich but they weren’t able to find that button on the cash register so he switched to chicken tenders and chips which he throughly enjoyed. It’s slower and a bit unorganized but still delicious and worth the stop.

Had a chicken biscuit with the hot honey, no cheese. The biscuit was really good as was the chicken.

Wonderful experience from start to finish. We called ahead for take out and our order was ready right on time. The entire restaurant is clean and well organized. The chicken dinner for two was the perfect size and absolutely delicious. We thought the garlic bread was a great addition as well, but the dessert really hit it out of the park. Each strawberry cobbler is enough for two people to have a large serving. We’ll definitely be back!
