Had a party of six service and the food was very good.

Have loved Pietro's for so long at least 45+ years. My husband and I came at least once a week. When he got really sick we had to stop. Well he passed away in Oct and I finally went last week. My bestie brought me there for my birthday a few weeks ago. She said that for some reason he was telling her to bring me there and also buy me flowers. It's a special place.

We have been going here for years when in the area. Jimmy takes good care of us and the food is delicious!

Not impressed. Long wait, food looked like it was not made fresh and we had to wait over an hour to get our order taken.

Went for a funeral luncheon and the food and staff were amazing

4 YEARS LATER ANOTHER FAMILY GATHERING AND: Pietros is superb in every way. Service and quality to include personal service no matter what size group you have. Bravo.

Had two waiters both of them seemed very hurried & requred "prodding" to get information which surprised me because there are a lot of senior citizens customers and we tend to move relatively slow!

I can honestly say that this is the single greatest Italian restaurant I have ever been to. I judge completely on food and service. Their veal is amazing. All of it is really good, but I especially enjoy the Veal Ala Giovanni. When ordering veal you get a choice of a side pasta or potato. Their side pasta with red sauce is excellent. Their toasted ravioli and other appetizers are also really good. Their house salads are the best salad I have ever eaten. Service is always friendly and quick. If you can only eat Italian at one place again, this is the place.

A group of us ladies went before the muny. Everyone's dinner was exceptional. Our waiter was on top of it . Love coming to Pietros.

It's been years since I last visited. Food was delicious. Server was excellent. It was a very nice lunch.

When in St. Louis I will always find time to eat at Pietro's. Once again greeted by the owner John and he recommended the special and the medallion steaks and creamy pasta was delicious. Appetizer of spinach balls and toasted ravioli. As usual it was all so good. The atmosphere was great. Definitely returning next time I am in St. Louis.

This is one of those local Italian places where you can get all the familiar favorite. One of those family dinner, friends, first date kind of places. They had all the traditional Italian favorites; we opted for the chicken picatta and saltimbocca. Both excellent (but have never had picatta without capers). Lots of fresh bread and good drinks. And the staff? Couldn't be friendlier ... or more patient, and our big group required some patience. Hope to return next time I'm in town!

Experience was so awful that it was comical. Appetizers clearly from the freezer to the fryer. Entirely too much breading - more breading than the spinach or the zucchini inside. My lasagna and my sons fettuccine Alfredo were both forgettable, but my husband ordered the special – lobster ravioli. My husband group on a farm, and is the farthest thing from a snobbish diner who claim to have a refined pallet. He loves seafood, and can tolerate when something tastes a little “fishy,” so when he took one bite of the ravioli and said it was so fishy that he couldn’t even finish the one ravioli he had taken a bite of, there’s absolutely no reason not to believe him because he’s seldom, if ever, makes that complaint. He also absolutely hates uncomfortable situations, such as sending food back, so even if he’s if the food is so-so, he will eat part of it to avoid the discomfort and possible attention mentioning the situation to the waitress might cause. I usually oblige, but I knew if he couldn’t take another bite it was BAD. So the last time the waitress came by, she asked him if he wanted a box to take home his ravioli. So I stepped in and politely responded with something along the lines of, “unfortunately, the ravioli tasted so fishy that he actually couldn’t even eat it.” She pauses, looks at me and says “well, its lobster it’s supposed to be fishy!” feeling somewhat puzzled by her reaction, I repeated “yes, but this was so fishy that he couldn’t eat it.” and she simply pointed out that it was lobster again. So when the bill came, and I was able to confirm that she had not made any attempt to rectify the situation, i.e. no apology, no bringing it to the manager’s attention, no offer of a free cannoli or whatever was on their dessert menu, just the itemized bill, untouched. So I hastily figured, our bill was $100, typically I would’ve tipped her at least $20, the ravioli was $28, so I drew a line through the blank placeholder where we would write the tip in and where you would write the subtotal, and then wrote the exact bill amount with nothing added on to the final line. My husband was already feeling uncomfortable, so we didn’t waste time in leaving. But the best part is when we are in the alleyway walking to our car, and the backdoor to Pietro’s opens. Our waitress has our bill in her hand and she’s demanding “you didn’t leave me a tip, don’t you want to reconsider leaving me a tip?” And I replied “and don’t you want to consider taking ravioli off of the bill?” Clearly, a rhetorical question that I didn’t wait for an answer for, and we drove away, laughing hysterically that she ran after us in the alleyway yelling in her somewhat broken English that we need to reconsider leaving her tip, as if there was amy chance that would help her cause. 😂😂😂 On the bright side, I’d take the story/memory over the lobster ravioli any day. (Of course, my lasagna was actually edible.)

Worth the wait! Our server was great, helpful with our inquiries and the food was outstanding! It was our favorite restaurant during our stay in St. Louis.

The atmosphere is outstanding! It is Old St Louis with a very comfortable feel. The staff is very attentive. The food is a very good quality. Would highly recommend it two singles, couples, families, the prices are very reasonable.

The food was delicious. The atmosphere was perfect. It is a neighborhood establishment where people are known and treated like family. We were greeted not only by staff but by customers who were regulars. We had a larger table with multiple checks and I failed to get an itemized receipt. I called a few days later and John went out of his way to look up my receipt and send it to me. I would 100% recommend Pietro's and will forever sing their praises.

A friend of mine suggested Pietro's when we wanted to meet for dinner. I wish he had told me about this place sooner! I had the strip steak that was on special and it was the most favorable and tender steak I've had in a VERY long time !!! I cannot wait to go back!

Great food Great staff great drinks

I actually thought that the Pasta Con Broccoli was better than Pasta House's. We came from a family funeral. So we didn't have to pay anything. The family paid for everyone.

Once again I reluctantly left the comfort of my apartment, bravely facing the outside world in search of adventure. Well, sort of. I was actually just lying on the couch when I suddenly decided I should get up and try something new - like going to the gym. But instead, I ended up dragging the nearest person to me to dinner. Hey, eating is like a workout for the taste buds, right? As we sat in the car, the inevitable question arose - where to dine? Sushi? Burgers? Nah, how about that Italian place I always pass by but never actually visit? Pietros, I'm coming for you tonight. Stepping into the restaurant, I navigated past the lively bar area (must be where all the fun is at) and opted for a cozy indoor table due to the rain outside. The menu looked very "Italian restaurant-ish" and we started with some house salads and an intriguing appetizer of spinach balls - an experience I wasn't quite sure how to process, but hey, I'm always up for a culinary adventure. Moving on to the main course, my dining companion went for the grouper, which received high praise from my taste-testing efforts. As for me, I chose the ravioli because today during a work meeting a colleague pulled out a can of chef boyardee from his bag and just started eating it. Not warm it up or putting cheese on top just im hungry and this was in my work bag at 813am. The hand-made ravioli turned out to be a delectable choice that left me happily full and a tad wobbly, as I ate to much, while I made my way back to the car. Overall, Pietros impressed and I'm already planning my return visit to explore more of their tempting Italian offerings. Who knew leaving my apartment could lead to such delicious discoveries?

If what you mean by “cheese” is Provel, then put that. Diners should be forewarned that every single dish in this Italian restaurant that’s made with cheese is made with Provel. Lasagna should never be made with Provel. Chicken saltimbocca with Provel? a crime. I get that this is St. Louis but come ON. If you are going to do this, then print it in your menu. Ditto with the “krab” you use. After combing the menu for things without the world’s worst substitute for mozzarella, we had the chicken maria (good except for the freaking “krab” which was not disclosed as fake) and the veal piccata which was decent. The side of pasta however had what is possibly the worst meat sauce I have ever had. Salads were smothered in…you guessed it…Provel. Service was very good. This is definitely a place for funeral luncheons and office gatherings but I wouldn’t suggest it for a night out.

A favorite of my Grandpa's. We recently had a lunch after my Grandpa's funeral. Everything was great!

My food was not up to what I have know that is you standard and the waitress was was on key but the kitchen was not I eat here a lot lunch is on key dinner this Saturday was not not hope next time is I have lunch r dinner there is better love the food first time I was disappointed in 20 years

Best grouper I have had north of Florida

Staff was great. Very friendly Very helpful. Food was phenomenal!!! Tomatoe sauce was fabulous. Everyone in our group of 8 was very happy with everything they received.

The service was instant from the moment we came through the door! The servers had their own tables but helped each other out. We had 8 people at 2 tables and never felt crowded or on top of anyone else. Personally, I ordered the Chicken Maria and was blown away by how tasty it was. Highly recommend!!

This food seems like it is for a…. Let’s say mature crowd. Everything from the fries to the sandwiches were soft and tasteless. Maybe great if you have no teeth and or taste buds? 😅 The staff was friendly. The place was nice. A great place to take your grandparents. If you’re seeking flavor or texture maybe pass.

You can never go wrong here, the staff is wonderful, and the food's even better, the portions are big and the price is for the average person...

Fantastic dinner, great location and superb service. I had the best lasagna for the main course and toasted raviolis as an appetizer. I absolutely will be back when in town.

Always a great dining experience.

Our group was three couples for a night out we pick a different restaurant every mouth. Everyone ordered a different meal and we had appetizers and everything was really good, house salads are delicious. A must try restaurant.

Had dinner with 6 people and everyone enjoyed there meals and everything was great , the house Salad and house dressing was delicious, definitely going back soon.

How old is this place? OLD! It’s from the 1960s. Pietro’s, a STL staple, is an old family-owned restaurant that exudes “my grandma made it” with its classic Italian dishes and welcoming atmosphere. Stepping inside, the aroma of rich, Italian meals fills the air, instantly transporting patrons to their bygone era. The menu includes time-tested recipes handed down through the years, offering hearty comfort food dishes alongside cherished family specialties. My grouper was fantastic! The portions are large and it’s always packed! Get there early!

Fine dining at a reasonable price. Staff were wonderful. I typically don't get what is on special, but was glad I followed the waiter's recommendation and ordered it.

Don't get the lasagna, it's a soupy cheesy mess. The house bread is good, the house salad is good. Staff is very nice.

Family get together. Food was fantastic. We ordered several different meals, Tutto Mare, beef Marsala filter of fish Sebastian and the Chicken special and all were excellent. Service was great.

Closed last night at 8pm. Called today at 12:30pm to make a reservation for later in the week - was intentionally disconnected by an employee. Called back at 12:45 pm. An employee answered, didn't let me talk, told me there was a bad connection and to "try some other time", and hung up on me. No, I won't be "trying some other time". A workplace culture that disrespects clients that way over the phone cannot be trusted to prepare food for my family. Sad. This place used to be pretty cool. But, things change. Bad staff. High prices. Too many other places to eat. Goodbye, Pietro's.

Nice classic decor restaurant. Attended luncheon, service very good, friends said chicken dishes and grouper was good but my wife and I had pasta tutto mare which was hugely disappointing. Supposed white sauce that was some translucent something. Probably will not go back

Very disappointed. The veal parmigiana was tough, a salad is not just lettuce and some cheese. Very overpriced for the quality. I will not go back.

First experience at this restaurant and it was amazing. I ordered the grouper and it was great. All of the staff were exceptional. I had a 3 month old baby with me. I went to find a restroom to change her, a staff member walked me to the restroom and made sure the changing station was pulled down and ready to be used. As a first time mom, I have yet to experience this level of service anywhere else. We will be back.

Had pre-birthday lunch with a friend here. She was having trouble finding parking, so I ordered a coffee--the best coffee I've had in St. Louis! Better than a lot of coffeeshops. I probably had too much by the end of our visit, lol. She ordered the pasta con broccoli when she arrived, and I ordered the veal parmigiana. I'd had veal once, six years ago, and thought it seemed the perfect dish for a celebration. We also split the appetizer platter. There was bread and butter, salads, sides, and our main courses! We both took home leftovers. Service was fantastic and they were patient with us visiting and opening gifts. I loved the classy, nostalgic feel and will certainly return.

Fairly large group luncheon. The restaurant was very nicely decorated for Christmas. Service was quick and efficient. A bit noisy, but that happens with a large group. A Christmas bonus was that Fred Bird was making rounds in the various dining rooms - fun!

Large portions! But pretty average quality and flavor of the food.

Real authentic Italian cuisine and the service was fantastic! We had the pasta Roma and Florentine plus the lemon cheesecake for dessert. The Roma was fantastic, but I did feel the Florentine needed more garlic and prosciutto. Interior decor was on point, and our server was as well.

Full disclosure: Pietro's has been a family favorite for decades. Our family has used this restaurant for family gatherings (rented rooms). The food (Italian influenced) is always good. If you choose to eat here for a meal, make reservations as this place is very popular with the locals and especially the expatriates missing home.

The best Thanksgiving ever 2023

On Nov. 23, 2021, my family celebrated my college graduation. There were 21 in our party and the service was incredible! I should add the food was fantastic as well! Kristiano C. was an excellent server. He did a marvelous job with bringing up the food and drink at a good pace. Another young lady, who assisted Kristiano P., was tremendous. We had a wonderful time there thanks to Pietro’s. We will definitely return!

I called on fairly short notice to accommodate a large group of 15-20 people following my Dad’s funeral service. I was impressed that they could easily accommodate us. Excellent food, service and family atmosphere! We will definitely be back again. Thanks!!

This was an excellent experience. It was some of the best Italian food I've had!

I ordered a hamburger well done.(I know, that is what I was craving) It was perfect. Not burnt, not pink inside, tender, juicy, perfect. Tiramiso for dessert. Everything was delicious and the service was friendly and prompt. Always a good time.

I ordered Pasta Primavera, which was filled with veggies and was served hot. Unfortunately, the sauce was somewhat bland. I was expecting a stronger garlic taste. The bread is very tasty and the iced tea was delicious. I love that they give you a small jug to refill the tea. The service was good. I like the stain glass decor.

We had our 65th high school reunion at Pietro’s in October. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. Thank you for helping us celebrate!

The most delicious stuffed shrimp I have ever had. The pasta was as good as our 5 star restaurant in st Louis Tony's. It's just a shame we went after a funeral for a dear friend and we could never afford to go there again on our own.

Great bar and great food. We had a catered event here and it was spectacular. The spumoni was fantastic. Pietros has been around so long for a reason. It's time tested and still excellent after all these years.

The house salad which I usually love, was not nearly as good. The lettuce was 3 days old, and there was a minimum of greens. Pietros, please don’t cut corners. Thanks!

Another Saturday night and we just wanted drinks and appetizers but not just bar food (nothing wrong with that just not tonight). We headed to Pietro’s knowing they would be busy. They were hopping but a table was open at the bar, which was exactly what we were looking for. You can actually get your whole meal served in the bar if you like! Such a cool dining experience. Highly recommended! The drinks are old school healthy pours and very reasonably priced! The appetizers were fantastic! Best zucchini ever! Fantastic mozzarella triangles. My friend swears that nothing else should be call garlic cheese bread after having it here. Prices are reasonable and the service is quick and friendly! It’s been around a long time for a good reason: quality, price and service! You will not be disappointed!!!

Wonderful food , great wait staff. Fast delivery of items to the table. First rate. Will return many times. Watson in South Saint Louis. EDIT: We returned a year later for dinner. The food excellent. The wait staff superb! Wonderful experience. We did have to wait inside the facility while a person with mobility issues struggled out the side door. This was not the first time I noticed someone having a problem getting into the restaurant, so I checked the other entrance. There IS a ramp at the front door. So if you wish to have a no step entry, go to the front to enter.

Funeral lunch, very nice staff was great food enjoyable

Pietro's provided a lovely lunch for our family and friends after a Memorial Mass for our late son.

I worked there in the 60's and have been going there since then. The food has been consistent for all those years.

After being turned down from a handful of other restaurants to offer last-minute catering for a company event, Pietro's absolutely saved the day and accepted my very large (55+ guests) and very last-minute (less than 24 hr. notice) order (I am obviously not a party planner). MaryAnn, the manager, was nothing but kind, friendly, and extremely helpful as she practically talked me off the ledge when she told me they could accommodate us. And the food was DELICIOUS! The toasted ravioli was a huge hit!!!
