Lives up to its neighborhood gathering spot slogan. What a great small spot right in the heart of the Point Breeze neighborhood. Absolutely love the Moules Frites with the spicy arrabiata sauce. So good. Clean the bowl with the crusty bread. Also enjoyed the grilled watermelon salad (awesome for a hot summer night), the buffalo cauliflower (was that really a vegetable), and the croque monsieur sandwich.

Went for lunch after visiting the Frick. Sat outside since it was a beautiful day. The menu was great even though they were out of my first choice. There were plenty of other wonderful things to choose from. I had the Croque Monsieur, which was fabulous, the bread was crispy and thin just how I like and the ham and cheeses were so flavorful, just enough without being over the top. The house salad with the lemon vinaigrette was a perfect accompaniment. My friend had the Chevre Salad with Salmon, which was equally as wonderful. Will get the mussels the next time- the table next to ours were loving theirs. Would highly recommend!

Great food and service every time we go. Mussels are the go to if you like them, along with an order of frites for the table. Can also never go wrong with the burger, is one of the best in the city.

This is a solid, dependable neighbourhood bistro. You’ll enjoy the food and drinks here. It will not blow you away. But you wouldn’t dislike it either. We visited on a week night around 7 PM as a group of four, and we had to wait for about 20 minutes to grab a table. they don’t really accept reservations, but the waiting wasn’t too bad. We started with the mussels and fries which is what they are known for, and it was pretty good. The fries were crispy and the mussels were cooked well. The standard for me was the Thai coconut curry sauce, which accompanied it, and they also gave us some good quality crusty bread, which was amazing for soaking up all that curry. We also had the croque monsieur which was pretty underwhelming to be honest, but that could also be a fault with the dish itself and rather than the cooking. We also got the chicken, which was bread and fried to perfection. It came on a bed of arugula and some artichokes. I thought it was a tad bit under season, but my friends felt that it was adequately seasoned. We also had some of the gin-based cocktails, which were super strong and totally worth it. The service seemed a bit impatient at first, maybe because it was close to their closing time, but then they redeemed themselves with good suggestions for cocktails and food. The seating is very casual and nothing fancy. So, if you’re looking for a place with great ambience, this might not be the place for you.

Wow, just wow. And not in a good way. Place has gone downhill dramatically. Floors were slippery with grease from front door to rear steps. Waiter forgot about us. (Took order and brought food but didn't stop to check or offer anything until the bill dropped 40 minutes later. There were a number of empty tables other wait staff. It wasn't especially busy.) Food came out lukewarm. It'll head to the sister operation nearby next time... that was at least pleasant and had a not-clueless staff last time.

We were really looking forward to this restaurant. The 5 of us each ordered different things. The 2 we expected to be great were the fries & mussels, exceptional in Belgium. They were terrific & worth the stop in their own right. One ordered the day's special, Mac n cheese with bacon- really good. The prices are a bit high for lunch, but we expected that for the area. One ordered a chicken sandwich on a French baguette. It was ok, but she had trouble with a sore mouth so she didn't even eat the bread. One ordered a chicken dish that sounded like a piccata, but it turned out to be hard fried breaded chicken breast topped with arugula & a bit of lemon dressing. They did remake her meal when she told them it was inedible. My salad with goat cheese & asparagus had a out a Tablespoon of goat cheese, mixed greens, cut asparagus (good) & a nice vinaigrette. It was good, but not worth $17 not even adding a protein. The restaurant has only street parking. If you are in a wheelchair, this may be challenging as it's an older building with steps to the 2nd floor. The bar is on the first level with a few tables, so not impossible, but I believe there were 2 steps at the door as well. We all drank water on a hot afternoon, so I cannot speak to drinks or even coffee. I would say that if you love mussels, they serve PEI clean mussels in a lot of garlic, wine sauce. There are 2 other options of sauce. It comes with a baguette & the large cones with a few fries. By the way, fries are served with basel mayo for dipping, delish. If you're ok paying about $20 for a sandwich or salad, go for it!

Intimate yet bustling joint with excellent food! The cocktail list was intriguing and the seasonal cocktail was delicious. Outstanding frites that pair with perfectly cooked steak or mussels in broth options that have no business going so hard. Great selection of Belgian beers. Service was excellent but the lack of a dedicated greeter/host(ess) combined with the tight entrance made for a bit of a chaotic arrival (especially at a no-reservations place).

We tried Point Brugge, as we'd heard it was a nice neighborhood spot. A member of our party had a nut allergy, and we informed the server of this. She reviewed the items we were ordering (house salad and buffalo cauliflower), told us that the allergy would not be a problem, and noted that she would tell the kitchen about the allergy. After the appetizers arrived—seemingly, allergen-free, as we confirmed with the person delivering the dishes that they had removed the nuts from the salad, before consumption—we ordered our main dishes. When we asked about what oil they used to fry (hoping we might be able to order French fries), we were informed that they use peanut oil. Upon learning this, we realized that the buffalo cauliflower—that the member of the party with the allergy had already consumed—had been fried in peanut oil. Neither the server, nor the kitchen, informed us of this, when we ordered the cauliflower. At that point, our server said nothing. She told a manager/chef/? about the incident, and he came over to apologize. He then told us that we shouldn't be very worried, because according to his quick Google search, folks with nut allergies are not allergic to peanut oil. This was not a comfort to us. Thankfully, after taking some medicine, the member of our party was okay. The staff at Point Brugge did acknowledge their error, apologized, and did not charge us for the food. However, we were not happy with their handling of a food allergy. We would not recommend going to the restaurant if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies.

Was my first time here, but sadly won't be returning. I ordered mussels in white wine cream sauce and almost every single mussel had a LARGE stone or sand grit in it. I chipped my back left molar and will be bringing this to my dentist's attention to see if it needs fixing. My steak came out extremely overdone and not medium rare. Other than that, food was decent. I just wish they would clean their mussels a bit more as it ruined the experience of eating mouthfuls of sand that could chip a tooth.

Sitting down to the bar, the barkeep full on welcomed us in his own way, entreating us to give the ‘frites’ (French fries) a try. Within 4 minutes, they arrived with a delightful white dipping sauce. Not too many minutes later, we were seated by the hose and introduced to Anna. I don't leave reviews frequently but I feel compelled to share my disappointment with our dinner tonight. We used to frequent this place for years pre-pandemic and had never had a bad meal. Our waiter was clearly inexperienced but didn't check on us ONCE after our food was delivered by someone else. We eventually had to ask for the check. 1/3 of the mussels were unopened and therefore inedible, the sweet potatoes in the salad were crunchy and the crab cake was dry and flavorless. We left a lot of food behind. A very expensive waste. Very sad...

The place has been recommended by friends for years, so finally headed that way. I was terribly disappointed. They have a new menu, I had a soup for a starter which was no different than boring Pittsburghian Italian Wedding Soup with chick peas instead of meatballs, but entirely too much garlic. Half the amount would have been sufficient. The main course was a beef stew with fries and carrots. While I was hoping for a rich wine/onion/garlic flavor, it appeared to be boiled beef, with the blandest brown gravy I have had in years...no flavor at all, the beef was chewy. I hate carrots so no report on those. The fries and the dip were excellent. The staff is excellent.

I ate here 10 times before moving from Pgh. and couldn't wait to have the mussels in white wine I had enjoyed in the past on my visit to pgh. last week. We came for a late lunch and were told asparagus soup was soup of the day. We even asked if it was vegetarian for 1 of our group. With no explanation, we were brought a chickpea soup with no explanation. When we quizzed the waiter he now tells us it's not available til dinner. Maybe ASK before you change our order?? We ordered the mussels in white wine but were brought the curry coconut milk variety instead. At this point we didn't have time to wait for what we actually ordered and ate it. Very disappointing experience.

Carbonnade Flamande Beef braised in brown ale with onions, apricots, cherries, rosemary, carrots, Brugge Frites. This uniform brown stew had no hints of apricots or cherries. Overall pretty underwhelmed. I’ll start with the the positives. Cozy neighborhood spot. Great martini at the recommendation of the waiter. Fries were great, and the portion generous. It took quite a while for the food to come out, but they were still fairly busy at that point, so that’s not a huge deal. My burger, ordered medium rare, was well done, and both the burger and the bun were quite dry. At this point, things were pretty quiet, and yet the waiter never came to see how our food was nor to refill our waters. When he finally came 20 minutes or so later, I told him I wasn’t able to finish the burger because it was so dry. He apologized, and I told him I didn’t need it remade but just wanted some more water. He was good enough to take the burger off the bill, but never brought any water. Really wanted to like this place, but left pretty disappointed.

I do not enjoy giving small businesses less than five star reviews and I have tried to justify one for this but I cannot recover from my experience last night. We went for a nice meal.. this place isn't exactly cheap so we figured let's treat ourselves. Now the service was great! Everyone was incredibly friendly and so nice and everything came out quick. The food however I cannot say was anything special. The Bruge Frites were really great but the entrees left me very confused. I ordered the cavatappi paste which comes with a butter garlic sauce on it. I did not taste butter nor did I taste garlic. All I tasted was pasta water which I am assuming was stored in noodles. I wanted so badly to love that dish because it sounded so good but it was unfortunately not great. My boyfriend also ordered a dish he said did not have what it was supposed to have as far as flavoring. I understand European food leans more towards the bland side and maybe us little Italians expected more pop with the flavoring. Again everyone was very nice but I can not recommend this food... Unless you just want some really good fries.

Amazing staff with amazing service! The food came out quick. We had a small table, but with teamwork from the staff and my group, we made it work. :) Food was pretty delicious! Only issue is, it is definitely set up café size but running like a full restaurant. It has a charm, but it can become pretty crowded and noisy (for dinner! Not sure about lunch or brunch!). I would definitely try lunch, brunch, and more dinner items.

My go to place for special brunches. . Even the coffees good. The staffs on pointe, the prices reasonable and it has fancy food in a friendly atmosphere. Small doing room, no tvs, just a whole sweet experience, every time, every dish.

On a beautiful, sunny Fall day, a meal here was exactly what we we’re looking for. Wanting to get out of downtown for a few hours, we meandered points east to come upon this area between Point Breeze and Squirrel Hill North neighborhoods. The popularity of this restaurant necessitated us to have a moderate wait, which is easily spent walking around the surrounding neighborhood (community yard sale was going on…perfect). Seating is tight inside this restaurant converted from a house. The European/Belgian slant towards the menu did not disappoint; mix in fun atmosphere, jovial patrons, solid service, and delicious meals (plus a decent beer selection) we can see why this place has rated well.

Since 2005, Point Brugge Cafe and it's Belgian-inspired cuisine has become well known for fresh ingredients, creative food and reasonable prices. It's not a big space or huge menu but it's comfortable and everything we tried off the menu was spot on. My daughter and son-in-law picked this spot for our first lunch outing on our recent visit. It was an early Mother's day morning meal that did not disappoint. We started with red curry Moules Frites which is a pound and a half of mussels served with Brugge Frites. The mussels were very nicely seasoned and prepared with those excellent fries that they're known for. I had the Chicken Milanese which is done with Lemon basil panko breading, sauteed radish, tomatoes, banana peppers, and asparagus, that was one of the best I've had. My honey had the Carbonnade Flamande which is a beef braised in Belgian brown ale with onions, apricots, cherries and rosemary, served with those tasty frites. She loved it, I tried it and it was delicious. Everything from the appetizer to dessert was very good, and as for sweets I can highly recommend the pecan bread dessert, forgot the name but it was marvelous. There's typically specials in the menu like a lobster roll or croque-monsour sandwich and there's lots of great choices. They have a BIG selection of beers, wines and cocktails. Bottom line: The staff are friendly and attentive, the food is way above average, the prices are reasonable, so 5 stars here!!
