Best Puervian Food Period !!!!!!!!

When the times I haved picked up my order of chicken when I get home and open is jet black dried up and is definitely from the day before that was left and re heated all day . “IF” I ever go back to take out I will definitely will open it up before I take it . The price is unbelievable $26 for a small chicken.

I came here for the first time yesterday on a Sunday and I ordered ceviche with shrimps and chicken barbeque with salad . It comes with rice but I. chose the salad. They give you a lot of food. I ate half and saved half. The service is good and atmosphere. The place does not look like much from the outside, but the food is delicious here. It’s definitely a diamond ruff . there’s parking right next to it in the parking lot

The truth is, a terrible experience, the Grilled Chicken doesn't have that characteristic flavor? It's anything but that and it was dry and not to mention the chili, very watery and lacking salt Terrible experience for its very expensive price.

Alot too desire served rotten fish and day old fried calamari. I was very sickforday .they charged for plate Sent back regardless . Very rude. I will never go back

¡Que Buenisimo! This place is amazing, the portions are huge, the flavor is huge, the purple corn drink is REALLY GOOD! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. I have no idea how they make that yellow sauce, but everytime I'm practically licking the plate clean. Definitely try this place out

Demasiado mala la comida ya no es lo k era antes, el chaufa de mariscos no sabe a nada solo le echan camarones obio pequeñitos calamares, y dos otres trocitos de pulpo k casi ni se ven le faltó almejas cangrejos y era un chaufa de mariscos, atención los dueños no se hagan los locos para k no se les caiga lo k keda de lo k fue un buen restaurant.

Somehow, the restaurants on or adjacent to Main Ave leave much to be desired. Maybe this place caters to locals who know what to order; I got what I thought would be a whole broiled fish, but it was breaded and fried and not what i was expecting, especially since they offer breaded, fried fish on the menu, i was surprised when mine came out the same way. They have a number of dishes described as "spaghetti" with different protein choices, but it was like weird, unsettling lo mein. Anyway, I promise you can find better eating options close by and that you'll be disappointed if you eat here. Also, I hate when the servers seem to be laughing at you for choosing to dine at the establishment where they work...

Quick service and good portion size/food for the price point!

The owner there is very rude. They took the order wrong and blamed it on me. I tried to explain the issue and his worker got involved in the disagreement. There kitchen is disgusting and they have sewer line back ups constantly. I have worked there but the guy feels he deserves better all the time. Charged me $93 dollars when I reviewed the bill he mentioned I ordered the wrong thing yo speak in Spanish. Never again rather to the other Chevere

We were the last customers of the night and loved our food as always. However, my husband noticed he forgot his card and tried to call the restaurant, but no answer. When he tried again the next day, he saw an alert someone using his credit card. It would’ve been nice if the server caught us to give the card since we were still outside talking before getting in our cars in the front. Or the server could’ve saved the card for us to pick it up, but instead they used it. Husband was able to turn off card before any new purchases. Again, I love the food but I’ll go another El Chevere moving forward.

I honestly really loved this restaurant. And I am not giving them 1 star on food because I want to bring the restaurant down, I want them to see this and regain their past glory. Their food used to be amazing!! I truly felt at home there. Unfortunetly, after the pandemic, many restaurants went through many hardships. Looks like this location suffered alot and I hope they can get back on their feet soon. The staff is always friendly and the environment is cozy and lively. The food that's being offered as of 2023, can really be better. They have been amazing in the past, and I know they can do it again.

My mom's and I went there plenty of times but we went in 1/29/23 and got our entire food we asked for wrong. Rice was cold my meal was not what I asked for. We will not return there again!!

Food has been going downhill and due to inflation, it's just not worth it anymore. Chicken was dried af, pork chops were even worse. Fries are basic but seasoned nicely, vegetable chaufa is good, and the hot sauce is awesome. My biggest issue is the service. There's a guy that works the front. He takes the orders and payment. His English is terrible so no problem, I speak Spanish but his attitude is nasty. He has no respect and I would be embarrassed to have him as the face of my restaurant. After I paid him cash for my order, I asked for a receipt and he asked me how I paid. I had just handed him the money but he refused to give me a receipt until the food came. It was a bad experience dealing with him. I'll definitely find a new spot closer to where I live.

The food is not the same as it was before, the waiter did not come once to the table to ask if everything was okay how they are suppose to. We had to get up and ask for something. After not giving a tip was given an attitude. Bad service

Quick service and good portion size/food for the price point! I think the food is delicious and would come here again if I’m in NJ/this area. The only confusing thing is when paying that they give you the bill and you have to pay at the counter but the instruction could be more clear. Other than that I enjoyed the experience.

Such an amazing server! She recommended the best dishes and was always so attentive and sweet. Would definitely come back solely because of the service. However the food was also amazing. There was not one thing we did not enjoy. Definitely recommend coming here.

I just ordered Chafa de marisco & it wasn’t even cooked right. This was horrible, worst $20 I ever spent. Don’t ever confuse this Chevere with the one downtown. These Dirty cooks make Peruvian look bad!

After the way I was bad treated I WILL NEVER EVER COME BACK NOT EVEN IF SOME ONE PAY ME TO DO IT. I was at 228 Washington in Passaic Location two days ago, (it was on Thursday 30th of September) , I was terrible treated by one of their two waitress that they had that day. I arrived to pick up my oder and I asked for a cup of coffee. (when the waitress brought me my cup coffee I asked him for one bag of splenda on the side, so the waitress told me " Your coffee does not need more sugar, I already put three spoons of sugars on it"). I replayed him that "I do not use a regular sugar for personal reasons" and I asked him very nicely to make me another cup of coffee with Not sugar, so he told me "go to another place for your coffee If you don't like how I prepared it" After the coffee situation the waitress let me to wait for my food for about 15 minutes more. (Order that I previously placed over the phone like 30 minutes a head or more, because I placed it right after I arrived at Newark airport from my trip). I HOPE THE OWNER OF "POLLOS EL CHEVERE" COULD HIRE BETTER PEOPLE THAT REALLY REPRESENT THE BUSINESS. I was a customer of this place for over 15 years but not any more. NOT EVEN IF SOME PAYS ME TO GO THERE, I WONT BE THERE ANY MORE.

BE WARNED this place rips people off ! $8 for just a QUARTER chicken leg without rice ?! That’s ridiculous!! Then $17 for a small lomo order . $25 !! I asked why so much and he said “tax” .. ummm hellooo tax is 7% . Plus with tax it wouldn’t have came out to 25.00 flat, there would have been some change at the end of the price it never comes out to a flat price with tax . Come to find out on their menu a small order of lomo is actually $14 and a quarter chicken is $6 so they ripped me off !! THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN FOR THEIR UNLAWFUL BUISSNESS PRACTICES AND FINED !! I’m never coming to this place again !! Be warned these people are ripping off their customers !! If you want to throw your money away to these scums go ahead but I won’t !

My friend told me about this place and now I know why he'll drive an extra 20mins just to get their food! Everything is made fresh to order, the menus are in English as well as Spanish so no confusion on what you're getting, and the customer service was great! I'll definitely become a dine-in customer when they open fully. For now, I'm happy to drive to Passaic just to get this amazing food!!

Been coming here for years, it's take out only now due to the pandemic, hopefully, indoor dining should open up soon. Succulent rotisserie chicken, pretty good arroz chaufa, the ceviches were on point, the grilled steak and breaded chicken breast were big portions and tasty, friendly staff, although it took a bit longer to get the order ready.

Is a good place and some of the worker are very good but another like to make fun of the peoples and tried to humiliated because the ways their dresses or how their talk some of them doesn't have educacion to tread another human being..my last visit was very uncomfortable 😕 but he can be better is someone put discipline and attention to costumer service like I'm say no every one but couples of worker are very unmature.

Prices are always being changed and my husband and I always pay different prices when we order food. It is very sad that the restaurant does such mischievous things like this since they have such great quality food. But I should not be paying $35 for a whole chicken and a pasta dish.

Delicioso lugar para comer, es muy basta la comida y delicioso. Las papas a la huancaina son una delicia al igual que el pollo frito. El precio está bien con relación a la calidad del lugar. Vale mucho la pena ir a comer ahí.
