For nearly 12 years, we have passed this restaurant without ever eating here. We always say, "Why do we keep forgetting about it when thinking of what new place we want to try." Finally, I put my dementia to the side and said we are going for a kid free date night. We went around 6 pm on a Friday and just beat the crowd. It is BYOB for those who enjoy a drink with dinner. You can tell there are a lot of regulars that come in, and we can see why. The staff were great! Food was robust with flavor. The menu has a decent amount of options for all appetites with specials as well. It's the type of restaurant where one of the owners comes around to your table to make sure everything is to your liking. I can't remember the last time my wife not only finished her plate but also had dessert. I had to clean mine with the last remaining piece of bread. It definitely is on the list to come back.

My first time dining here for my mom’s birthday. We did not have reservations & we were a party of 6 they quickly got a table together for us. Food & service was great would definitely go again. Let’s not forget big portions 😊

Have been here countless times in my life for Sunday family dinners or family events. They recently did a great job with hosting my cousin’s wedding. The food is incredible, especially the pasta vodka! The party room is private with its own set of bathrooms. There is an outdoor seating area and the grounds are well kept, making for good photo ops.

Upscale dinning experience for any occasion. We stopped by randomly since we were hungry and in the area. My party ordered the chicken Marsala, chicken parmigiana, and eggplant parmigiana entrees. They pleasantly came with salad and pasta which we were not expecting because it wasn’t written in the menu. The complimentary warm, crusty bread and bruschetta were delicious.

Loved this place for my dad’s birthday on Sunday. I had the Rigatoni Zíngara, we had calamari and the others in my party had the veal, ravioli and the minestrone soup. Everything was freshly prepared and the pasta is definitely not like Barilla, it had a fresh homemade taste. The zíngara sauce had a spicy sauce which was amazing with the mushroom and olives 🩷 Literally my only complaint or as I would say a space for improvement is our waitor was great but a waitress who gave us our dessert kind of rushed us (our fault it was closing time soon so no problem!) but it was pretty pushy and scraping away all our dishes and giving them to her to carry like 7 plates to the back so it was a little pushy. And then the end was like she was not too experienced which is okay, but for our desserts she handed us our silverware and waited for us to be done talking to take the silverware from her hand. It was very like an inexperienced feeling of being a customer. I’m sure she is lovely though so it not a complaint more of advice! 🩷 we will DEFINITELY be coming back we have been looking for years for a place near us since we moved ⭐️ Also obsessed with the little Parmesan holder, yeah what is it?

Some of the greatest food I've ever eaten anywhere in the country. From the appetizer to espresso, it was fantastic.

Everything about this place is my favorite. The atmosphere, an unsuspecting little restaurant nestled on a wooded road. I come here at least once a month and have never been dissatisfied. It’s hard to find a place that is this fresh and authentic in this part of NJ. The service is always attentive and polite/ professional with good recommendations. My favorite is Chicken Milanese and my mom raves about their seafood dishes. BYOB so don’t forget your favorite wine.

Another spectacular dinner at Portofino! This place is DELICIOUS and service is always incredible! Best Italian restaurant in Northern NJ. Cannot wait to return. BYOB…. The hostess or one of the food runners (4/21) were definitely a little much with cleaning the table while we ate and constantly asking if we were finished but we assume she is just learning! Still excited to return :)

The food and the staff are outstanding.

Food was excellent, I had the special halibut over mashed potatoes with a lemon caper sauce. Large thick piece which was very soft and flaky literally melting in my mouth. Sauce was perfectly balanced and plentiful. Finished with coffee and desert, topped off with a complimentary shot of zambucca. It was quite loud which is the only thing I can criticize with the dinner. Cost was fairly high but considering the quality of our meals, it was a fair price.

Go during daylight for the scenic drive. Upscale from a typical red sauce place but not pretentious. Best bruchetta I have ever had. Generous and tasty portions. A bit heavy with the salt. We attended a seminar so our lunch was free.

Today was the first time we ate out on a Holiday. Having Easter dinner @ Portofino's was the BEST!! We enjoyed a delicious meal, wonderful service and atmosphere without any 'clean up'. The food was served hot and appetizing. It couldn't get better. The entire staff was pleasant, accomodating and attentive.

Suspect previously cooked, frozen or chilled, then microwaved dishes. Rubbery shrimp, grainy potatoes, greasy sauces, over cooked lamb. Calamari for two was under seasoned, under portioned. Bruschetta was great. Loud dining room due to acoustics, asked for a cozy table for two, and were seated next to two loud parties even though fairly empty early on Thursday evening. Staff attentive, especially bus girl Sophy, she went above and beyond, as well as gentleman food runner. We're not going back anytime soon. Had specials for two, appetizer, gift card for $50, brought wine, and still $100+ for dinner bill.

Food was absolutely amazing and the service was even better! Ari was so kind and made sure we were taken care of. She is the best! Thank you to everyone who helped sing happy birthday to my fiancé :) we will definitely be back!

Entrees and dessert were outstanding. Service was great. Highly recommend for groups but it gets loud (because everyone is having so much fun). We are planning to return...with more of the family in tow

After passing Portofino's for many years I finally went in for dinner. The Friday before Christmas at 6:45 was a Very busy time to try somewhere new but they were 100% on their game. I had several people taking care of our table of 2, our water glass was always full and no dirty plate sat for a minute before someone would swoop it away. The food was Excellent from the salad on a chilled plate to our entree's. In todays world it seems like everyone is having a hard time finding good help. This place cornered the market on them!! Great place that I intend to spend a lot more time at

We recently hosted a big party here (70 people) and it was perfect!! The food was so delicious, the private room was set up perfectly for our large group, and the service was amazing.

Had a super nice dinner experience here with friends. Food and service were great. Appreciated the bread, bruschetta and salad that came with our meals and that you can bring your own wine and beer. Everyone treated us very well. Would definitely go back. Was not too expensive either. Check it out!

We've gone here for years. You always feel welcome and treated special. It was our anniversary and thry treated us extra special.

What a fantastic place to have a party or just dinner. We had a surprise birthday party and it was very crowded but those wait staff employees were on it all the time. There were a lot of courses that they served and everything came out perfectly and piping hot. The main Hostess Nancy is a charm to work with. I've had a few parties there and have eaten dinner there many times over the years. It has never changed and it is always one of the best Italian restaurants to enjoy in the area. I highly recommend it for dinner and for parties.

We had my daughters bridal shower here today. Let me just say, WOW, from the food, service & atmosphere, everything was amazing!! The staff is phenomenal, kind & caring, they were on top of all our guests needs. We never had to ask for a thing. The food is the absolute best! We are also restaurant owners so I can honestly say that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PORTOFINOS for any special occasion or for a fantastic meal!

By the reviews I thought it's going to be a really good place but all the pastas we ordered were bland and tasted like nothing... The sea food tasted old or not cooked right. The 8 dollar cesar salad sounds great until we saw it which was sad, small and mostly lettuce. Service was excellent and atmosphere was good, when we arrived around 4pm it was empty but got really full when we finished.

This is our favorite restaurant! We’ve dined here several times and it’s always top notch. Yesterday my husband hosted a Celebration of Health family dinner in my honor. The service with Nancy and crew was friendly and professional. My children and grandchildren raved about our feast. It began with bruschetta and warm bread and butter followed by antipasti including calamari, hot and cold antipasto. Next came our ziti ala vodka sauce cooked al dente. The house salad and then we had a choice of delicious entrees including salmon, chicken francese, chicken parmigiana and more. Next individual desserts which were awesome. It was the best! Thank you from Robert and Filomena Aleman and family.

I am happy to say I now have a second Italian restaurant added to my options list in Morris County. From the door, service was exceptional and attentive and throughout it was balanced just right. We went out for a family birthday celebration and there were three other parties with celebrations at the time. The atmosphere was not overly noisy and the food was delightful. We will certainly be back to Portofino's in the near future. Restrooms were clean and the restaurant also has a side patio and front entrance seating area.

This is my favorite place to eat out at. Excellent service , food is amazing and great portions , reasonably priced , and everything is delicious. The bread is out of this world and the bruschetta is great too. Ordered lobster ravioli the sauce was great and the ravioli’s were terrific , my husband ordered a special dish and it was excellent ! Thank you look forward to returning .

Not very good. Cold appetizers, over peppered chicken. Poor service.. waited 15 minutes with noone in the restaurant to get our bottle of wine opened...Sorry, wanted to write a much better review.

My go to local spot for fresh and great quality Italian food. I was actually recommended to try Portofino’s by a few friends and I can see why. I have yet to dine in, but take out is always packed neatly, real portions, and they don’t skimp out on bread or salad. Everything (stuffed mushrooms, broiled fish, vodka sauce, fettuccini Alfredo, mussels, clams) we’ve tried has been a hit.

This was mine and my husbands first time eating here and we were blown away. Such great service. The owner is very attentive to his guests. The food was AMAZING! We were celebrating our anniversary and they sang to us and comp’d our dessert. Truly an incredible experience and we will be going back.

We’ve been coming here for over twenty years and the food, service, and ambiance has only gotten better. What initially was an “okay” place for a reasonably-priced and very decent meal is now one of our favorite Italian restaurants in the area. One example is the dish I recently had - a special. It was Swordfish in a cream-caper sauce, over a tasteful mound of mashed potatoes covered by a creamed spinach. The swordfish wasn’t grilled or fishy tasting. It was a melt-in-your-mouth meal that did exactly that. It was difficult to put my fork down and the cut was over an inch thick. It’s probably one of the best meals I’ve had there. Other good meals in recent years have been: baked ravioli, chicken gardenia, and even the ribeye. Hot appetizers are excellent too. Note that every entree includes a refreshing, pre-dinner salad - which we affectionately now call Portofino Salad. Also, every visit includes hot bread and bruschetta. Ps, We had our daughter’s bridal shower here and it was amazing. The hostess and the attentiveness of the staff saw to our smallest detail. Pps, The BYO feature is a big plus too and the servers are more than anxious to open and pour.

We went to check out this restaurant for our daughter’s bridal shower. We were pleasantly surprised by how amazing the food was. The service was also amazing. Needless to say we booked her bridal shower right away. We are looking forward to enjoying our event with some amazing food and service.

My first time to Portofino's was an excellent experience! Despite being first-come, first-serve for parties under six, our party of four was sat surprisingly quickly on a busy Saturday night. Food was amazing!

Everyone here treats me and my family with so much love and respect, it feels like I'm coming to my cozy grandma's for Sunday dinner. Always so warm, welcoming, accommodating, and extremely generous. I always suggest this place to everyone I know and it has become their favorite restaurant as well. You can't beat these prices and such great quality, it's a rare find. This is my go-to restaurant and never disappoints. I also love that it is a BYOB, and order whatever is on their verbal specials.

We love Portofino's. We've been eating here for more than 20 years. We've brought friends, family and work associates, and always hear great reviews. Mendi and his staff are now our very good friends. Food is consistently very good, and service is attentive without going overboard. I've never had a single item that was unsatisfactory. I strongly recommend Portofino's to anyone looking for a relaxed but attentive dining experience.

Best place to eat in Jefferson, without a doubt. My family goes here multiple times a year and we are always treated like family.

Let me start off by saying my husband and I really don’t enjoy eating out anymore. Especially since Covid, we feel a lot of quality has gone out the window. We happened to be driving in the area after a family engagement and overall long day. We weren’t starving but wanted to take a break maybe have a drink. We gave Portofino’s a try because the outside was gorgeous and very inviting. 1st off we were greeted by an amazing staff, even the head chef makes it a point to know everyone’s name and greet people to see how they’re doing. My husband was stressed from work then the family affair. The Head Chef Tim (respectful young man) brought him over a drink just because he thought he could use it. Lol my husband said “good read” Now THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!!!! Calamari app was honestly one of the best. They don’t use bread crumbs and fry everything to death. No frozen garbage here. The shrimp my husband ordered was so good he ordered another one (also because I ate his) the sauce was this delectable garlic butter with an amazing consistency. It didn’t break at all. Hands down the best Resturant I’ve had the pleasure of eating at in the last 5-10 years. The staff deserves a round of applause as well. They are helpful without being overbearing and rushing you out. No one lingered. They turned my family’s mediocre night into a fine dining experience. It’s a comfortable atmosphere setting that doesn’t throw away the appeal of high-end restaurants. Or as my husband would say “you’re in a 5 star Resturant, minus that stuffy pretentious feeling” Very regal, old school family Resturant. Definitely recommend it to anyone. Went last night. Very disappointing. Nothing like it used to be. Fried Calamari was so tough you couldn’t chew it. Hubby and friend ordered dish that had calamari, shrimp, mussels over linguini and the calamari in that dish was so tuff he didn’t eat it. There were 2 bad mussels. Never finished dish. Don’t know what changed but definitely very disappointing. There were 12 of us and none of us feel it was nothing extraordinary like it used to be. The service was great though.
