love the vibe and the food is cheap but it takes foreverrrrr to get even if it's completely dead

They need to get rid of Sherry, literally me and everyone I went with had to go outside to order our drinks, my food took over an hour to get (I ordered 5 wings) . Tammy Myles Anne & Nikki were amazing. Get the trash out. You’re losing money by having this horrible bartender serve at your bar ! Sherry literally came up and tried to yell at me and when I told her how horrible her service was she told me I could be “barred”. I don’t even live in the state and only came in there to see my family. (I came down for a funeral) i definitely at that point was more than happy to tell her how horrible she really was. As someone that runs a business I would never let this disgusting person ever work a day ever again after how I was treated Saturday night. Hopefully they have cameras and Portsides other employees told the owners what happened !

1st visit wasn’t bad. 2nd visit not so. Pizza was burnt this time and the bartender wasn’t on her game.

The place smells terrible. They need some kind of exhaust to get the cigarette smoke out. How do you serve food when the places smells worse then a bingo hall? The food has to have the smell adsorbed in it all. Service at night is absolutely terrible, always. Waited about 20 minutes to get a beer 2-3 times… why are the bartenders not going around the main bar checking on customers? I’ve been to bars 3x busier on a Saturday night in this area and I can get a beer sitting at the bar in 0-3 minutes. on my 5th beer asked how much my tab is and she said she was making it a bucket so it’ll be a 3-4 dollars cheaper. Went outside for a while maybe 30 ish minutes & came back in to have 1 more beer (6 beers total) I get handed a bill for 56$ after I said that there isn’t no way my bill doubled. They added a bucket and 8 beers to the tab. So they removed the bucket, I never got the bucket price and then had to argue with the older bartender for 20 minutes about me not having 8 beers, she walked over to the trash 2 times and said there is 6 coronas in the trash… “it’s been emptied 3 times tonight” well unless it was emptied when I was outside… it was not emptied since I got there. Eventually she gave me the bill for my 6 beers and tried to make me feel bad saying “we are gonna have to pay for it now” pay for your mess up? Or did you give another person a corona and put it on my tab? “I’ve been doing this for 11 years we just don’t add drinks to your tab” so why was there a bucket and 8 beers if you don’t do that? Make it make sense. Will not be back with the bad attitude from the older bartender and the “he’s drunk so I’m gonna over charge him for a bigger tip” logic. They did this a few weeks ago to one of my buddies too 1 bucket and 2 shots of house liquor 76$??? Insanity.

Little place that's been open since 1962. Service by Kaylyn was outstanding, beer was cold and food was excellent. How can you go wrong with 33 different kinds of hot dogs! Wings were plump and juicy, sides were on point. Prices are great on everything! Came back today 1-31-24, had the Texas Spicy Chili Dog and New England Dog and beers. Both were good, tots overcooked, NE dog was awesome. Had the West Virginia and Missouri Dogs on my third trip on 7-1-24, neither will be ordered again, not a favorite. Service still great as well as prices. Nice breeze on the deck, no smoke issue at all. Hidden local gem.

Drinks for good service was a little slow for not such a busy night. But the girls were still very nice and I had a good time

Stopped in for a drink while visiting Pirt Charlotte for the day. Sherri, barkeepers, was fabulous. Shared her legacy drink with us, delicious. Karaoke fir entertainment, Tammy, beautiful voice, kept the party going. Thanks to you all.

Portside is an awesome local bar. Very inexpensive food and drinks! Service is always great and the people are friendly!

Nice place to visit outside, but if you walk inside you'll be overwhelmed by cigarette smoke. Hopefully you won't have to use the restroom which is inside.

Didn't know they had hot dogs like that!! A whole page dedicated!!!! They are PHENOMENAL!!!! The deck bartenders are phenomenal, and Barbara is a team player 🤣🤣 HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE DOGS!!!!

Food was decent and the service was okay; but the atmosphere not so much. INSIDE SMOKING IS ALLOWED AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT.

Has been my place since moving to Florida 14yrs ago, and also my Father's since he came 13yrs ago. The Food...best in town in my mind, very large portions at extremely low prices...blows away any other in town on that level by far... and the atmosphere with staff and patrons, I'd also say the best in town. 👍💯💚🦅

Great local bar with good food and really inexpensive drinks. We had a meat lovers pizza and my friend had Margaritas. I was surprised at how low the whole bill was. Jerry was the bartender and the service was excellent. Will definitely be back to try their hot dogs.

Pizza and food is absolutely awesome. The owners definitely need to add more staff. To many customers for 1 bartender to handle inside. Definitely not the bartender's fault . Hoping to see you grow.

Some of the best service and drinks your going to get. Your family when you walk in. It doesn't matter If you want to sit by yourself and have a few or make a new friend than this is the place for you. I can't forget to mention the food because it's worth popping in for. It's the only place I can think of that you can have a sit down have a nice lunch or dinner with a beer for $10 or less. DONT FORGET TO TIP

The food is really good! The pizza is really tasty - oven cooked to perfection. The bruschetta is very good. The hamburgers are very good. Service was really great!

If your looking for a delicious hot dog and some cold beer in a frozen mug, then look no further. So many different hotdogs to choose from. I went with the Cincinnati dogs and nachos and cheese. It was starting to get busy, and there was one person handling outside. She did an awesome job making sure everyone had everything they needed.

Used to live in Punta Gorda, and this turned out to be one of my favorite places. When I met my husband every time we go through there taking a boat on the West Coast we always stop at the Port Side! My husband and I cannot believe they do not list the Stromboli. It is out of this world that's why we keep coming back!! Our bar waitress (and I could kick myself, I don't remember her name), Missy? I know she wore skulls on her clothing that day, she was one of the nicest waitresses and did an excellent job!! We will be back!! 😉👍

Always made feel at home good day bad day in between day the staff is always great even the regulars are awesomme.. Always look forward to karaoke and cant wait to go back....

I have gone here for the last 7 years. It’s my favorite bar to be at. I stopped drinking 6 months ago and still come here for the food . Jerry is the best! He’s normally bartending outside ! Cigarette smoke can get kind of heavy inside depending on how many people are here. There’s live music and karaoke and dance nights here on different nights of the week! Highly recommend

The place reeked of cigarette smoke inside. Only took a few steps in and was overwhelmed by the smell. Definitely a dive and not in a good way. Definitely won't be going back.

One of my favorite places to go. The owners and staff are exceptionally nice and welcoming. They typically have some sort of entertainment, and thankfully, it's normally not overpowering (some places think the louder the music is, the better). I don't want to say dive bar - because it isn't. Think of it as a "locasl" bar. This is where friends in the area gather. The bar tenders remember your name, the crowd is friendly, the place is clean, the food is good, the staff is nice, and the beer is cheap. THATS why it's a local favorite.

Manager lady that clearly has seen the end of a Meth pipe a time or two was wildly rude. Tried to card my brother for the second time (He's 30) when he jokingly said no, because who gets carded twice in 15 minutes? She went Crack-SheHulk and demanded he show her his ID. She loves power, I bet her domestic partner is happily chained under her trailer.

Disgusting, there was two guys penetrating each other in the kitchen.

Decent bar, always had a good time. Showed up for food and beers with my step brother (my recommendation) after great service like always some 95 year old lady with bad breath and barely any teeth asks me if the bartender checked my id… jokingly I said no, until she got serious threatening that I show her Id and if I don’t she has the power to tell me to leave. I shouldn’t have left money to pay my tab for that sad excuse of a manager but I felt bad for the owner and the bartender, I hope that manager is not his wife. Plenty of other decent spots in port Charlotte to spend money on.

Super friendly staff! Food was incredible "Baked wings not fried" Takes a little longer but worth the wait. I recommend the house sauce that's what I had very unique flavor. Patrons were very social great Is place to make friends.

We are from up north and several years ago the Portside was recommended to us to try. We did, and have been going there ever since! Love the casual, friendly atmosphere. Bartenders are the best! No complaints on the food and the beer is the coldest! When friends from Tampa come down they always want to go there for lunch!

Went for the first time after a very long day moving across from South Florida.. reminds us of our local hidden gem.. great food, ice cold beer and the best bartender ever.. Sherry.. We have found our new watering hole.. pizza was amazing!!!!! 🍻🍻🍻😎🌴

I hadn't been inside for nearly 40 years. Used to hang out and shoot pool... It's remodeled, for the better I suppose.

Just call them up asking for specialized drinks and of course like everyone else they have no clue how to make it. We need a club in this county where people actually know of the craft. 😭💯💯

Dark, dingy, smokey even by Mad Men standards. Not enough chairs even though it wasn't that busy. The "special" mixed drinks were way too expensive for the quality of alcohol used. $17 for a bottom shelf smattering and some blue Curacao.

Oh, the "Booo" bird Yankees have no idea... They don't have a clue and wouldn't understand it if explained to them. This place is a landmark, a county treasure of sorts... This is probably (along with the Brown Cow) the oldest, continually operated business (definitely bar) in Charlotte County. This place was here before I first walked into it in 1973 and has been open all day everyday since with maaaaaybe the exception of Hurricane Charlie in 2004. For the Yankees who bad mouth: "THIS IS NOT AN EATERY"!!! They NOW offer small finger food but by no means is this nor has it ever been a place to come and actually eat a meal. If you were served food at all, consider yourself lucky... Now, shut up, drink your drink and get out... Oldtime Floridans only... Over 5 decades of continual service? BRAVO!!! AND HERE'S TO 5 MORE!!! Thank you Port side!!!

Good ol' small tavern 2 pool tables, outdoor seating and great staff. Their pizza is damn good! And they have Karaoke on their outside deck. It's fun and reasonably priced!

We were on a girls’ weekend and found this local hangout on a Saturday night. We had a blast. It was karaoke night and Scott the Karaoke Host was a lot of fun and he has a wonderful voice. Jeremiah, bartender on the outside porch was wonderful. Very attentive and a great sport celebrating one of our birthdays. A pleasant surprise was how good the pizza was. We were so glad we stopped in.

Great local hangout. Girls weekend and we had a blast here. Scott was a wonderful karaoke host. Jeremiah, the bartender on outside deck, was a blast. If you want to hang with the locals and enjoy some karaoke and great service then stop in here on a Friday night. An unexpected surprise was how delicious their pizza was.

Second time being in to this establishment. All of the employees are so super nice, they make you feel at home, good drinks and such a fun time! Karaoke was a blast and so entertaining!!! Highly recommend this place if your looking to relax with your friends and have some fun! We will definitely be back next week!

By far best hotdogs in town. So many ways they can make them I had the Detroit style today and it was out of this world. The lady that waited on us was amazing as well. Only down side I would say is it does get a little amoky if you eat inside the bar, that's only down fall. Inside Port side is just like the old time bars where you can sit at the bar or have tables. Sometimes the bartendor can come and wait on you but your best bet is to go up to the spot and put your order in. Very very nice place to eat and drink friendly staff.

I got a Swiss and mushroom burger to go. Weird sides to choose from....nachos, slaw (I know, not weird but I don't eat it) and some kind of peppers. They were out of all but nachos yesterday so nachos it was! Got home and the nacho cheese was pipping hot chips crisp and the burger was still hot and way better than I thought it would be! The bun was super soft and delish!

My friend had the pizza sub, I had the Carolina chili dogs. Food was good, drinks were good, but bummed that they were so slow,, they started shutting outside bar down early.

Cold beer, cheap drinks and the biggest choice of hot dog styles from NY to Chicago and Beyond What more do you need? hang with the locals here
