This is one of my family's favorite ramen spots outside of Japan. We have been coming here for years ever since I went to Japan on vacation. We always stop by when we go through Austin. Ramen Tatsu-ya finally opened up in Houston but it isn't the same. Restaurant is nice inside and staff is always friendly. Ramen is consistent and full of flavor. I always get the Mi-So-Hot which is the spicy Tonkotsu and add the spicy bomb or the chili bomb as well.

My wife and I came here in need of Ramen. We were not disappointed. The flavor started slow but got better with every bite somehow. By the end I had to upturn the bowl to make sure I got every last drop.

The tonkotsu ramen was like a warm hug in a bowl. The broth was so rich and creamy, I couldn't stop slurping. The roast pork melted in my mouth, and the noodles were perfectly chewy. I loved the funky interior with its cool Japanese-style decorations. Even though it was dinner time, the place was buzzing with energy. The staff was super friendly and helped me pick the perfect toppings. I can't wait to go back and try more!

Not my first rodeo here, but got the Sho-yu for the first time and I think it might be my new favorite! Really hit the spot after craving ramen after watching anime that depicted ramen in mouth-watering detail. Lol This bowl of ramen satisfied my craving, but it was so good, I definitely will need to go back again soon because I'm already getting another craving for it just reviewing the photos I took and remembering how the chasu melts in my mouth, the pleasant texture of the slightly crunchy menma, and the smooth, sumptuous, salty tonkotsu broth. 😭 I also had their mango sale slush, which tasted like an alcoholic mango smoothie. Delightful, aside from the spicy rim. (Not my thing, and was not for-warned!) Highly recommend their patio if the weather is nice. The inside of the restaurant gets quiet loud, however I did have to battle about 5 flies for my ramen, so be prepared.

Been coming to Tatsu-ya for their dipping noodles since pre-pandemic when the 183 location was the only one. Tatsu-ya never disappoints. Tried the Hatch Green Chile ramen and it was delicious! Photo taken after decimation. 😃❤️

Im writing this review in hopes someone sees this and can make things better. My bf and I order from a few of the locations I wanna say once, to every two weeks. Sometimes more frequently than that. We’ve always had a good experience with customer service and the food is great which is why we come back so often. Recently, however I wanna say in the last two months every time we’ve order pickup something is always missing we were charged for. Normally I’m not one to complain especially if it’s just an extra egg ($1 value) that’s missing I still enjoy my food but I’m a bit disappointed. I ordered for pick up two days ago and the meat in one of the ramens was missing ($4 value). I double checked my receipt to make sure I was charged and I was. Again, it wouldn’t be a big deal just disappointing but as many times as this has happened where I was charged for stuff I didn’t get it’s starting to add up exponentially especially with as much as we order. Usually this only happens with pick up orders but it also happened once while dining in about 3 weeks ago. I paid for an extra egg and when getting my ramen I asked where it was and was just told it wasn’t on the ticket. I told them I was charged for it and if they wanted to make sure to go ask the person who checked me out. They just walked away from me and nothing came of it. I could’ve gone up and asked but again in my head I was like it’s just an egg. But after this recent mistake on my to go I tried calling more than 10 times to at least to talk to a manger to let them know that people consistently arent getting what they’re paying for but my calls have been forwarded every. Single. Time. I’m not looking for compensation but if I had a business and my employees were constantly not double checking tickets to make sure every guest gets what they paid for I would wanna know. It’s just gotten really frustrating. I wanna keep coming back to ramen tatsu ya because the food is so good I’m just tired of being disappointed and over charged.

My recent visit to this restaurant was highly disappointing. Upon arriving with my wife, we had to endure a wait in line just to get inside. Once finally inside, I encountered a table that was dirty, so I decided to clean it myself before settling in to wait for my wife, that was still in line to order, join me. To my surprise, a server with black and red hair approached me and rudely demanded that I vacate the table because I didn't have a order number. I calmly explained that my wife was in line to order, but she persisted in her demand. Even after pointing out that I had done the same thing on previous visits without issue, she was unmoved. A second server, with long black hair and glasses, then joined in, repeating the same unreasonable demand. I offered to order a drink to appease her, but she couldn't justify her insistence, merely citing "rules" that were nowhere posted or explained to customers. It took an additional five minutes for my wife to arrive with the "number" to our table. The order delayed and when arrived my meal was served cold and unappetizing. The lack of professionalism and customer care demonstrated by the staff, particularly towards loyal customers like myself, was deeply disappointing. It's evident that the management needs to address how their young staff members interact with costumers. Due to this experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant .

Tatsu-ya has some amazing ramen. We got The OG (Tonkotsu) and Tsukemen. Tsukemen was good but I had better Tsukemen, but The OG was really the best. Anything on their menu which says 60-hour broth will be great if you like a rich, creamy broth. If you like smoky flavor Tsukemen is still great. The chashu was also very well seasoned and cooked so I had to get some extra.

The service was amazing before you continue reading… Everything started out normal minus our food taking so long because they totally gave it to a different table. One person got their food at our table and waited a while for ours to come out so we could eat dinner together. When we did get our food, the og had blue tape in it (they use it to label things in the back, it’s visible from the window). Thankfully she comped the meal and apologized but we won’t be coming back. Portions of noodles are small, broth is yummy minus the tape.

What an adorable ramen place, the interior is so well decorated and has a great ramen-eating retro atmosphere. However, the place does not have too much seating inside and quite some customers, so you might have to wait in line during peak hours! The sour and sweet hibi gibi punch was amazingly refreshing especially during this summer heat. Their ramen itself was good, however the broth had a more unique taste that I wasn’t quite used to, the only reason for a lower food rating. Also, the spice levels here are quite low. Overall very filling and pretty tasty!

Do you love ramen? No, not that ramen from the store! I’m talking about ramen that has that marrow flavoring broth loaded with toppings that make you feel like royalty. Properly seasoned soft boiled eggs and pork belly are just two of the many toppings that make these bowls of ramen stand out. Get groovy and modify your bowl to your heart’s contempt. Sure, the restaurant has the Austin hipster feel, but whether you’re into that or not; the food is star of the show. You’ll be slurping down a delightful bowl while enjoying some interesting music. For years the staff has been spot on customer service. I’ve only had one issue where my egg was hard boiled, but the staff quickly with a chill vibe brought the properly cooked item. All of the locations in the Austin region get busy at lunch, but wait times are generally short. The wait is worth it! Bring your family and friends. Food a good as this is even better when shared.

Shrinkflation hit hard here! While I love everything about Tatsu-ya in both Houston and Austin, I cannot believe that they put now just one slice of meat on the 🍜. Another six month and you'll get only a picture of meat to go with your bowl of ramen. Also, common issue with ramen in Texas is that even if you ask to make sure the broth is hot, you get it lukewarm anyway. I consider that a capital sin, like overcooked spaghetti.

I apologized to the staff and asked if they could heat it back up for me as it was my fault it had gotten cold. Without skipping a beat the staff member behind the bar immediately offered to remake it. She explained they don't have the ability to reheat it but would instead make my order again because she wanted to make sure I got to enjoy my ramen while it was fresh and hot. Austin has a wonderful selection of ramen and Japanese food, but Ramen Tetsu-ya might do it best. The flavor is genuine and smooth making you wish you never see the bottom of the bowl. It's like a culinary vacation to Japan. The only drawback is the limited seating, but it's absolutely worth the wait. Try the Miso Hot or the classic Tonkotsu for the best of the best. Honestly, just pick something on the menu for the best of the best.

When we arrived, the line is super long. And there are lots of four people tables sitting with only two people. I checked with one of the waitress if they can split the four people table into two. The waitress said to me rudely that because that’s their table. Such an idiot answer. If there are no people waiting, of course. But the line is almost to the door, could you be less stubborn and be more flexible, kindly check with the customers if they don’t mind split the table for the people who are waiting. Anyway it’s their way to do the business, but as a customer, I don’t think they are really on the customer side. They even don’t want to give a try. And that rude waitress, hope life will teach you what is pilot, especially if you are in the service industry.

I’ve come here a lot, but recently it’s gone downhill. I’m definitely getting less food in my meals and I always get the same thing. I was just here and I got what feels like half the noodles I used to get, and the chashu was a little overcooked. Really sad, I recommend just going to jinya if you want your moneys worth. For $18, the OG plus an extra egg and a spicy bomb, I didn’t even fill my stomach. And I don’t usually have that large of an appetite :/ Honestly, I thought it was a fluke because last time I came here I also got a smaller portion than usual. I think they are just participating in shrinkflation at this point and i don’t think I’ll be returning.

Got sour throat after eating the ramen. Very greasy broth. Not recommended. Gloomy ambiance. Staff rushing between tables, makes it a little uncomfortable.

Wonderful how the Asian hostess out front treats people of Indian descent. Asked me to wait outside in the cold while she let all the white folks in. Amazing hospitality!

I had the OG and my husband had the Mi So Hot Tonkotsu with a spice bomb. I ate the entire bowl. It was delicious.
